7.20.14 Jesus fed Judas the SOP and the Devil came into him. Some Judas outed the PSALLO word with the long-standing urge to sow massive discord. Of the "unity in diversity" in Ephesians 4 Paul said that Christ gifted APT elders will by definition CAST OUT the cunning craftsmen or sophists. God HIDES from the sophists who are speakers for hire, singers, instrument players or actors. Eject them as Jesus ejected the musical minstrels because THEY ARE LYING IN WAIT to Deceive. It simply is not possible for any reader of the Bible and recorded history to find or even image (idol) a God of the Universe Who could be seduced by music or who would impose the LADED BURDEN which is spiritual anxiety created by religious rituals of songs and sermons. Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. Christ in Ezekiel 33 apparently not available at the universities named speakers for hire, singers and instrument players: these were the MARKS of people who did not intend to HEAR the Word (Logos or regulative principle) or obey it.
Luke 11:43 Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
Universities SELL and false preachers BUY something like Spirit Power and that defines SIMONY. As "senior pulpit ministers" we have noted that one product of ACU claims that while he has elders he is the Authoratative Teacher: that means that he claims the role Jesus died to get.
In going on 84 have never met a preacher willing to discuss the Bible or to respond to the REST of the passage which refutes false teaching. They are "god's anointeds" and you dare not question them: they speak EXCathedra.
Luke 11:44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
for ye are as graves which appear not,
and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
Luke 11:45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him,
Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.
False teachers who are Purpose Driven would define Jesus as a legalistic, sectarian, hypocrite for reproaching. A godly person WILL be happy to give an answer.
Lawyers and legalists are those who use rhetoric, singing and playing instruments to silence the LOGOS. All of the performing arts and crafts MUST follow rigid laws in learning, rehearsing and performing.

LOGOS speak words such as LEXIS is the opposite of ODE. Logos is God's Regulative Principle which is opposite of self-speaking form money, singing or playing instruments. All religious "hypocrites" or performers were called parasites and prostitutes. You can only give away the WORD of God in the Prophets and Apostles by preaching it by reading it for COMFORT and doctrine.
Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.
Luke 11:46 And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers!

and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
ŏnusIn Revelation 18 the cunning craftsmen, singers and instrument players are called SORCERERS. John said that they HAD DECEIVED the world once. That was when "in the beginning the elohim cast down the heavens and earth as profane." Christ called Lucifer the singing and harp-playing prostitute in the garden of Eden. The Chalal or Halal word means that Lucifer was cast down as profane.

That is why you can quote all of the Bible and historic literature to prove that imposing instrumental sounds in the School of Christ is defined as the BEAST. The beast is "A sudden new-style of music and Satyric drama." The Pan's or Satyrs were CAPPELLAs or he or she goats. A Cappella speaks of the Sistine Capella as a private SHRINE. The STYLE of singing by the castrated French Opra singers is called ORGANUM and began with just tow voicing singing as one voice.

ODE and PSALLO IN the heart. Meaning Keep it Silent
BECAUSE: LEXIS or LOGOS is the OPPOSITE of ODE which means to enchant.
Psallo is a word often connected to Apollo, Abaddon or Apollyon. He carried his bow and made the string "twang" to send forth a sinning arrow into the literal heart of enemies. He also carried the Lyre which he "plucked" intending to send forth a Love Arrow into his male of female frieds.
Abaddon or Apollyon has been unleased from the pit and is the leader of the LOCUSTS which we understand to be the MUSES as his musical worship team. The muses are known in the literature as dirty adulteresses who become SHEPHERDESSES at Apollo's Worship Center at Delphi and Corinth.
Psallo is USED primarily as:

When used of musical instruments Psallo means play or pluck II. mostly of the strings of musical instruments, play a stringed instrument with the fingers, and not with the plectron:

Again, Philodemus held as self deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy. He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines as a disturbance of the spirit.
He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this folly.
Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music; it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure, which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did.

THE FIREY DESTINY OF THOSE WHO SOW MUSICAL OR RHETORICAL DISCORDJohn T. Willis of ACU or Abilene Christian University sees godliness as a means of financial gain. Believeth Not is the Greek Apistos which means betrayal, treachery, saying "I will not teach that which is written by the Prophets and Apostles. Willis promotes ROLES for women for which there are no ROLES. He also promotes the introduction what what they call "instrumental worship." This is a culmination of two decades of Mike Cope paving the way. He is now at Pepperdine working to REEDUCATE young preachers trained as "traditional" church of Christ preacher. That means to multiply the legalism and sectarianism by claiming that a "spirit" gives them authority to--what Bible readers know-is contradictiory to the LOGOS or Regulative Principle where God gets the right to speak and everyone who grasps the meaning of God gets the blessed opportunity to sit down and listen and learn. These restructurers are trained as singers, actors, philosophers or stand-up comic.
The Christian Standard which began to sow discord flaunts their small winnings by letting false teachers to show how to TRANSISTION other people's property into Instrumentalists property.
John T. Willis has actively worked to PROMOTE the use Instrumental Music and Female Worship leaders. Jesus said that "Doctors of the Law take away the key to knowledge" because nothing in the KEY is for sale. No level of scholarship allows merchants of the Word to read the text. Paul warned the MALES against practices which would bring on WRATH. Wrath would be a buffoon or jester as preacher, singers, players, actors BOASTING about bringing people into a frenzy (madness) which the merchandise as WORSHIP: leading you into the presence of God.
12.22.13 Lucifer is Venus or ZOE and among the matriarchal "mother of harlots" she-he is EVE or EVAH meaning an Abomination. Lucifer is well documented in the Greek literature. Christ said that when Lucifer was Cast as Profane (Chalal or Halal the "praise" word) into the Garden of Eden She-He was the "singing and harp-playing prostitute."
The Beginning Mother of Beasts and the End-Time Babylon Mother of Harlots are identical. Paul said that Eve was wholly SEDUCED as a new bride is SEDUCED just before her husband. That is why Cain (from a musical note or mark) was OF that Wicked one.
Eve is mentioned only twice in the New Testament and because Jesus spoke in parables to HIDE the truth from the WISE (sophists=rhetoricians, singers, musicians, actors). Moses was writing an INVERTED version of Babylon Myths AFTER the nation fell from grace BECAUSE of instrumental idolatry at Mount Sinai. Therefore, those who mock Paul do not understand that Paul knew all about Eve and scholars know nothing. While not necessarily true, Paul understood that women especially looked to EVE (Zoe, Mary) as THEIR Mediatrix.
The serpents, however, of the magicians-(that is,) the gods of destruction-withstood the power of Moses in Egypt, but the rod of Moses reduced them all to subjection and slew them. This universal serpent is, he says, the wise discourse of Eve. This, he says, is the mystery of Edem, this the river of Edem;this the mark that was set upon Cain,
that any one who findeth him might not kill him. This, he says, is Cain, [Gen. iv. 15] whose sacrifice [Gen. iv. 5. ] the god of this world did not accept.
Theophilus to AutolycusThis Eve, on account of her having been in the beginning deceived by the serpent, and become the author of sin, the wicked demon, who also is called Satan, who then spoke to her through the serpent, and who works even to this day in those men that are possessed by him, invokes as Eve.58 And he is called "demon" and "dragon," on account of his revolting from God. For at first he was an angel. And concerning his history there is a great deal to be said; wherefore I at present omit the relation of it, for I have also given an account of him in another place.
58 Referring to the bacchanalian orgies in which " Eva " was shouted, and which the Fathers professed to believe was an unintentional invocation of Eve, the authoress of all sin.
The word "abomination" is also key to understanding the context. In Hebrew, the word "to 'evah," (abomination) is almost invariably linked to idolatry. In the passages from which both verses are taken, God tells Moses to tell the people not to follow the idolatrous practices of the people around them, people who sacrificed their children to Molech, or who masturbated into the fire to offer their semen to Molech, for example. Chapter 20 starts off with the same warning.
"To 'evah" also means "something which is ritually unclean."
But also, concerning music, some have fabled that Apollo [Abaddon, Apollyon] was the inventor, and others say that Orpheus discovered the art of music from the sweet voices of the birds. Their story is shown to be empty and vain, for these inventors lived many years after the flood. And what relates to Noah, who is called by some Deucalion, has been explained by us in the book before mentioned, and which, if you wish it, you are at liberty to read.Genesis 1 is exactly parallel to John 1: after Israel fell into instrumental idolatry of their Egyptian gods, God abandoned the later Civil-Military-Clergy complex to worship the same "gods" that appear as Abaddon or Apollyon in Revelation. The LOCUSTS or MUSES are unleashed from "hell" and Abaddon is the Musical Worship leader. This happened exactly 4000 years after Moses defined the same conflict between LIGHT and DARK. That was launched by the most virulent, hostile attack against the ANTI-instrumental Churches of Christ mounted exactly 100 years after the first brutal attack. This convinced Churches of Christ that even friendly fellowship meant that their flock would be Purpose Driven by the boast of "Infiltrating and diverting the church homes of widows and honest workers into A Theater for Holy Entertainment."
Armageddon is not a war of the world but a war of words: a polemic war with shock and awe as the meaning of mechanical Organon used by Jubal's family to bring on the first destruction.
Great tribulation flaunting "the holiness of sin" has accompanied the loss of faith at the end of each DAY period.
Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation,A million Jews were cast into Tophet (tabret, tambourine) at the first fulfilment. Madison as the result of the "Jubilee" intending to restructure ALL Churches of Christ was attacked by the Purpose Driven Cult and it appears that the godly elect were "raptured." This is the end of the road for the Vision 20/20s in most of the assaulted churches of Christ. Before the Jubilee "frog-boiling" process began Madison boasted that they had over 5000 members and lost only "50": These numbers did and may include 300 members in jail.2 Maccabees 1

John.T.Willis: Topsy-Turvy.Instrumental.Music
Throughout history, human beings have reversed values in life. It is easy for all of us to major in minors and to minor in majors, to put the cart before the horse, to make mountains out of mole hills.
Oh! that is one of those magical Change Affective Images: you are supposed to think that if you have refused to make church into a Spectacle or Theater for holy enterment as they claim and have never in recorded history from the wilderness onward never hallucinated that music and theater had anything to do with the School of the Word, they you are a sectarian, legalistic, red-necked, RACAite. You are supposed to hate your church and your godly ancestors who did not attend ACU as being "traditionalists."
John T. Willis and the ACUites love to try to spook you by claiming that ANTI-instrumental churches of Christ IMPOSED the non-use of musical instruments. Seems that they were just evil legalists. They become legalist by NOT forcing you to do endure not too talented Musical Worship Ministers now the laughing stock of the prototypical emasculated male. However, All recorded history denied that there was any role for instrumental MACHINES for doing LEGALISTIC HARD WORK. We betcah that most of the ENERGY and time will be sucked up by people working REALLY HARD to put on a Broadway Show to prevent you from giving heed to Jesus and HIS WORDS.
The direct command from the wilderness onward for the School of the Word was to PREACH the Word (only) by READING it for Comfort and Doctrine. The LOGOS is God's Regulative Principle. Jesus of Nazareth SPOKE what God Breathed (spirit) into Him. Therefore, to mock God's REGULATIVE PRINCIPLE denies that God is God and doctors of the Law are NOT: The meaning is ANTI-Christ.
John.T.Willis:
Here are only a few obvious examples.
1. God's people regularly slip into the mistaken concept that external acts of religion are more important than the heart and honest godly daily living.
No, it is the Professional Religionists CLAIM that worship is in EXTERNAL ACTS. John T. Willis wants boylings and girlings to ACT UP right up on the state, singing, prancing, playing, lifting unholy ARMS as a Religious Observation. The ACU mother leader boasted that they would manufacture so many FEMALE MINISTERS that churches of Christ would be Forced to give them a job doing EXTERNAL ACTS.
While he is shooting at faithful Churches of Christ who will not bow when he pipes, he is implying that those who DO NOT violate direct commands have no heart and are not interested in godly living. Well, it is a fact that no one was so primitave that they did not grasp that mechanical sounds could discord the very structure of humanity. They also knew that people who USED "machines for doing hard work" were bent on fleecing the lambs. Only people who would IMPOSE and take away the church house of widows could be charge with thievry. A godly person who needed to hear musical sounds rather than the Word of Christ would just leave and go buy his OWN place to make a theater.
The Kingdom of God does not come with OBSERVATIONS. So Willis wants to spread massive discord and hatred for quiet, local congregations meeting to be DISCIPLES of Christ which means of the Word Only.
The religioous observations MANUFACTURE the Spiritual anxiety created by religious rituals. Laded Burdens are those arousal songs KNOWN to damage the emotional health and PREVENT people from hearing the Word of Christ from a godly elder as the only Christ-ordained Pastor Teacher.
Observātiō ōnis, observo, a watching, observance, investigation: observationes animadvertebant, your searches for evidence: siderum.— Circumspection, care, exactness: summa in bello movendo.
Religious observations are carefully crafted to take control of all of one's attention. That is the worship concept with is to be directed only to God.
Tendo: In the pagan religions they gave lots of attention to tuning or playing their musical instruments: cornu,” “barbiton,” to tune, “tympana tenta tonant palmis, stretching out their bow strings. To shoot, to hurl.
Here is a picture of what Amos warned about: a man tending his Barbiton while lying on a bed

John.T.Willis: This was a major concern for the prophets in the Hebrew Bible. Amos 5:21-24; Hosea 6;4-6; Isaiah 1:10-17; Micah 6:1-8. Just one good example is Jeremiah 7:9-10: "Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal and go after other gods that you have not known, and then come and stand before me [God] in this house [the temple=for us, the church building], which is called by my name, and say, 'We are safe'--only to go on doing all these abominations?"
John.T.Willis: 2. Many have focused on the "correct" acts of worship instead of the attitude and feelings of the heart. One great example of this is the demand that one must worship God ONLY in vocal singing and not use instrumental music.
The Theologians invented the ACTS of worship when the godly people who can read understand that the ONLY spiritual worship concept in the synagogue and church is to GIVE ATTENDANCE to the Word of Christ. This is also the only way to glorify or praise God. If you want to speak the truth:
- There is a law AGAINST the act of the theatrical performers mocking Jesus: Isaiah 50
- There is no ACT of "laying by in store" only to be DIVERTED when the ungodly decide to confiscate your property. Christ outlaws this in Isaiah 55
- There is a LAW of Silence commanded by Paul and Christ in Isaiah 57.
- There is no ACT of Preaching out of your own head: this is outlawed by Christ in Isaiah 58
- Preachers or Kerusso are HERALDS: Jesus sent them OUT with the command to teach what HE commanded to be taught.
- There is no ACT of singing: Jesus commanded and example and Paul commanded that we SPEAK to EDUCATE.
- There is no ACT of singing out of your own spirit to PREVENT the songs and sermons of Christ and the Apostles.
- There is no LAW allowing mercinary men to MULTIPLY MINISTRIES all of which detract from the School of Christ.
- There is no ACT which women can perform: the AUTHORITY visible-audible women exercise (even the ugly ones) is Authentia which is defined as EROTIC and MURDEROUS.
- There is no ACT of performing rhetoricians, singers or instrument players: Jesus calls them WISE or SOPHISTS which means speakers, singers and instrument players especially those intending to pick a bit of fleece to keep from a productive work. Religious musicians were called PARASITES.
It is a Biblical fact that there is no command, example or remote inference of any godly people assemblying to do congregational singing WITH or WITHOUT instruments. The Bible is filled with singing involved with idolatry with or without instruments. There is NO metrical Bible and "melody as tunefulness belongs to the 19th century. All of the New Testament passages command SPEAKING the Word of God for EDUCATION. And even that noisy singing of the near east was IMPOSED in the year 373 after Constantine permitted unwashed clergy to get paid for their work. The Christian Churches invented the psallo word for the first time in 1878 to try to force everyone to bow when they piped. Therefore, one cannot even hallucinate instrumental noise when scholars know that the assembly is A School of Christ where worship, according to Christ and the Campbells was READING and MUSING the Word. That is SPEAKING and MEDITATING as the only way to edify or educate.
- If God abandoned the Levites to worship the starry host because of musical idolatry; and the Levites performed as SORCERERS with instrumental NOISE and God did not command King, Kingdom, Temple, Clergy, Sacrifices or Levites who were EXECUTIONERS making instrumental noise.
- And John T. Willis and the ACU Purpose Driven goal is to use that as a PATTERN.
- Then, why should anyone obey their LAW OF GIVING to turn YOUR property into an IDOL temple with living, breathing, acting IDOLS getting their kicks on route 666?
John.T.Willis: No one really knows where this idea came from. But for many people, this has become "gospel" and necessary for salvation.
That's when Doctors of the Law read previous books of theology rather than being Disciples of Christ in th Prophets and Apostles.
But when one actually reads the Bible, this is not an issue at all. Here are ONLY two biblical examples.
We laity actually see WHAT words mean in the Bible and only the FEW are chosen

The prophet Amos assumes that everyone who serves God in worship uses vocal songs and melody of the harp.
Amos 5:23. Amos denounces these people not for singing vocally or orally or for using harps in worship, but for oppressing the poor and needy in daily living.
Earlier in the Book Amos shows that the evil nature of the people whom God abandoned before chapter 5 was the REASON that they sang and played instruments in the Gerezim Temple when God commanded that anyone who did that was to be executed.
John T. Willis: 2. "Sing" is vocal; "make melody" is instrumental. Psalms 33:2-3; 144:9; 149:1, 3 make this crystal clear. Amos 5:23 further verifies this reality.
Amos 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

John.T.Willis: In Ephesians 5:19, Paul assumes that Christians gather to worship to "sing and make melody to the Lord in their hearts."
Singing is vocal singing, and making melody is using instruments of music.
But, that ignores the Pre-Postmodern TEXT. Paul uses synagogue word for gathering, assemblying or coming together. Vocal or instrumental rejoicing was outlawed for the synagogue which was for READING the Word and explaining any problems. Jesus also EXAMPLED that by standing up to READ the text and then decently SITTING down to allow dialog.
Speaking to yourselves in Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs becomes
Singing to the congregation with self-composed ditties and making melody WITH a musical instruments.
And ODE is spoken unless it is set to music:
Mouso-ō , A. furnish with power of song, hosa phusis memousōke,

Therefore, and ODE cannot include music as cannot a Psalm unless you define it.
Plat. Laws 722d yet it is only recently that we have begun, as it seems, to utter laws, and what went before was all simply preludes to laws. What is my object in saying this? The command is to SPEAK the ODES
It is to explain that all utterances and vocal expressions
have preludes and tunings-up (as one might call them),
which provide a kind of artistic preparation which assists towards
the further development of the subject. Indeed, we have examples before us of preludes,
admirably elaborated,

ōdē is the opposite of -lexisJohn.T.Willis: Many texts in the Hebrew Bible clearly connect vocal singing with instrumental music. Just one example is Psalm 33:2-3, which connects "making melody to Yahweh with the harp of ten strings" and "singing." The very "make melody" means instrumental music.
Apparently the people who translated ALL of the credible versions didn't think that making melody (grinding to bits) was something decent people engaged in. Besides, there is no melody or meter in the entire Bible. The command is to SPEAK what is written for our learning. Therefore, John T. Willis and ACU have just INVENTED something from being Doctors of the Law.
Isaiah 23:15 And it shall come to pass in that day,
that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king:
after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot.
How does a harlot SING?
Isaiah 23:16 Take an [1] harp, go about the city,
thou harlot that hast been forgotten;
make sweet [2] melody,
[3] sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.
Isaiah 23:17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years,
that the LORD will visit Tyre,
and she shall turn to her hire,
and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world
upon the face of the earth.
BEING ECUMENICAL VIOLATES THE DIRECT COMMAND TO COME OUT OF THE WORLD. Amos and Stephen warn about the abandonment to idolatry to which God sentenced the nation because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.
Amos 5:20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light?
even very dark, and no brightness in it?
Amos 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days,
and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
Amos 5:22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings,
I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings
of your fat beasts.
Christ in Isaiah 1 and Jeremiah 7 etal that God did not COMMAND sacrifices or burnt offerings. The Mark of those not OF TRUTH is that they think of a God who fits the pattern of what Christ in the prophets calls the Lying Pen of the Scribes.
Amos 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy [1] songs;
for I will not hear the [1] melody of thy [1] viols.
Amos 5:24 But let judgment run down as waters,
and righteousness as a mighty stream.
Amos 5:25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices
and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
No: they were not commanded but the people DID set up their own tabernacle and offered animal slaughter to their gods as their worship was Sabazianism and not that of Jehovah.
Amos 5:26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of
your Moloch and Chiun your images,
the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
Amos 5:27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
EPHESIANS 5 Somewhere back in grade six we learned the difference between sing and speak. Paul said, perhaps to let people wrestle unto death:

X. the Word or Wisdom of God, personified as his agent in creation and world-government,Psallo has never and can never speak of musical melody. If someone said:
SPEAK to the students about the rules of grammar
SING and WHISTLE in the bathroom. In 1 Corinthians 14 when people wanted to sing out of their OWN SPIRIT but were not inspired or educated, Paul told them to speak to God because they were just speaking into the air. This is Paul's ironic way of saying, "Please be silent" and he told the women who disturbed everyong "being saved and coming to a knowledge of the truth.
John.T.Willis: Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Psalm 33:2
Psalm 32.2 confitemini Domino in cithara in psalterio decem cordarum psallite illi
This is confessing with twangs between the words. Ranan means to creak, shout for joy, triumph over: this was outlawed for the Church of Christ in the wilderness. The psalmist is praise and not commanding.
Praise is holding out the hands physically to throw a stone, to revere, to bemoan.
Zamar h2167 is like ALL words: you have to know how it is being used.
- A primitive root (perhaps identical with H2168 through the idea of striking with the fingers);
- properly to touch the strings or parts of a musical instrument, that is, play upon it;
- to make music, accompanied by the voice;
- hence to celebrate in song and music:—
- give praise, sing forth praises, psalms.
It is to accuse Paul and the Spirit of Christ with being stupid for NOT having ACU-wisdom because even simple simons would have INCLUDED what is to be PLUCKED. Paul clearly did not follow the Willis PATTERN and name the instrument.
You will also note that Zamar means to strike a string with the fingers: Psallo means strike a string with a finger but NEVER with a plectrum. John T. Willis is leading the simple minded into violating the DIRECT COMMAND that PSALLO would OUTLAW a guitar pick, a flute, drum, piano or organ. You are in mortal danger for lying that psallo has ANY musical content.
The Kings had been turned over to worship the starry host BECAUSE of instrumental idolatry at Mount Sinai. For that they were sentenced "beyond Damscus" which mean no redemption.
What kind of scholarship would try to IMPOSE that into A School of Christ? Well, anyone who missed reading 101 and defines the assembly as a Worship Service which would be defined as IMPURE RELIGION.
Nebel (h5035) neh'-bel; or nebel nay'-bel; from 5034; a skin- bag for liquids (from collapsing when empty); hence a vase (as similar in shape when full); also a lyre (as having a body of like form): - bottle, pitcher, psaltery, vessel, viol
And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands. Is.5:12
And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. Rev 18:14
And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; Rev 18:22
John Calvin: I have no doubt that playing upon cymbals, touching the harp and the viol, and all that kind of music, which is so frequently mentioned in the Psalms,
was a part of the education; that is to say,
the puerile instruction of the law: I speak of the stated service of the temple. For even now, if believers [privately, please, like David] choose to cheer themselves with musical instruments, they should, I think, make it their object not to dissever their cheerfulness from the praises of God.
But when they frequent their sacred assemblies, musical instruments in celebrating the praises of God would be no more suitable than the burning of incense, the lighting of lamps, and the restoration of the other shadows of the law. The Papists, therefore, have foolishly borrowed this, as well as many other things, from the Jews. Men who are fond of outward pomp may delight in that noise; but the simplicity which God recommends to us by the apostle is far more pleasing to him
The Catholics CONCUR with Calvin: to their credit NO ONE ever thought of SINGING while playing the ORGAN in the public assembly:
Candles [Catholic Encyclopedia]: We need not shrink from admitting that candles, like incense and lustral water, were commonly employed in pagan worship and in the rites paid to the dead.
But the Church from a very early period took them into her service, just as she adopted many other things indifferent in themselves, which seemed proper to enhance the splendour of religious ceremonial. We must not forget that most of these adjuncts to worship, like music, lights, perfumes, ablutions, floral decorations, canopies, fans, screens, bells, vestments, etc.
were not identified with any idolatrous cult in particular;
they were common to almost all cults.John.T.Willis: 3. We human beings are constantly attracted to "new gadgets." We think that by doing this we improve our lives. Many people are now putting the cart before the horse by using iPads, iPhones, computers of all kind and spending so much time with these new gadgets that they neglect PEOPLE.
I notice that John T. Willis is using the "law of giving" to collect money from the widows and honest working people. Now, he plans to REMODEL the church to make it into a Theater for Holy Entertainment. My gues that with all of the gadgets and "machines for doing hard instrumental wor" he will spend $100,000.00 of the "lord's money" so that he can MAKE A SPECTACLE (Theatron) of Jesus.
A flute or a guitar pick or a drum violates the LAW OF PSALLO making all of the pretense just plain hypocricy: you know Jesus defined the Scribes and Pharisees as hypocrites meaning speakers, singers, instrument players and ACTORS.
God is concerned deeply with PEOPLE, NOT with NEW GADGETS. Yes, it is very helpful to find a better car or a better airplane or a better computer, but none of these comes close to spending time with another person.
Amos emphasized this point in Amos 2:6 and 8:6 by condemning wealthy people for buying and selling the poor and the needy for a pair of sandals.
The tithe was derived from Babylon and it was used to feed the Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned Levites. Their command was to perform as Instrumental Sorcerers to spook the evil spirits and attract the good spirits. As well it warned that any godly person OR any Levite who came NEAR or into any presumed "holy" place was to be executed. This was because God had abonded the elite or nobility to Worship the Starry host and were sentenced to "beyond Babylon" which meant "no return or redemption." For heaven's sake: the scholars aree not allowed to read Acts Seven where Stephen debunked the whole MONARCHY.
Amos 4:1 Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria,
which oppress the poor,
which crush the needy,
which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.
Amos 4:2 The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness,
that, lo, the days shall come upon you,
that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.
Amos 4:3 And ye shall go out at the breaches,
every cow at that which is before her;
and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.
Amos 4:4 Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression;
and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:
Amos 4:5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven,
and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you,
O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
BEFORE AMOS SPEAKS ABOUT MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS Christ through Amos warns:
Amos 4:11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning:
yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
Amos 4:12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel:
and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
THE OLD BUT MODERN WORSHIP CENTERS TURNED TO INSTRUMENTAL IDOLATRY they had been Turned OVER to worship the starry host identical to the Instrumental Idolatry at Mount Sinai.
John.T.Willis: Which is more important: a pair of sandals or a person? Which is more important: To spend time with another person or to play games on a new gadget? Share YOUR concepts and reversions and desires and feelings and aspirations with others. Let me hear from YOU. John Willis
The Israelites worshiped as their Egyptian captors worshiped because they needed some legalistic sign from their "gods." Abandoning Jehovah, they asked Aaron, their priest, to permit them to repeat the Apis or the golden calf worship which is defined as play. Even though there was no law, Moses recognized two roles for music: warfare and idolatry.
Exodus 32:18 And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.
This involved singing, dancing, instrumental music and more. Aaron made them a golden calf as visible image and claimed that the image just "jumped out of the fire."
