THE SHELL GAME: Ignorant or evil?  Conservatives pretend that the twin text is a LAW of singing and it does not matter who writes the "that which is NOT written for our learning."

Progressives (not liberal) pretend that the Twin Texts are the only New Testament teaching about "music", that the Law of Moses commanded instruments (a lie) and Jesus didn't change the LAW.

Both SHELLS depend on legalism since talent, learning, practicing, rehearsing, performing and getting judged"by the strict laws of rhetoric, music or acting.

Both SPIRITUS and NOMOS are words which point directly to Abaddon or Apollon as the Jew's "worship of the tarry host" and the end time king of the locusts or MUSES who separate those having different marks. The BEAST is the word Therion meaning "a new style of music or satyric drama." Satyric is the Pan or Cappella or the effeminate-musical form of rhetoric, singing, acting, dancing and engaging in real or virtual sexual activity. That is the Purpose Driving the Wimber Vineyard lady who landed with the New Style of Praise Song books.

Paul said that those who meddle with the Word (Logos, Regulative principle) God sends strong delusions that they believe their own lie. Lying Wonders are performed by them as religious performances of rhetoric, singing, playing instruments, acting, dancing and worse. In 2 Corinthians 3 Paul said that they cannot HEAR when the Word is READ in the synagogue (one-piece pattern) nor can the READ BLACK text on BROWN paper.

The ACTIVE part is to SPEAK to YOURSELVES.  That is obviously AUDIBLE and the commanded resource is "that which is written for our learning" (Romans 15)

In 1 Corinthians 14 if you can't speak articulately then Paul commands that you be silent. Lifeless Instruments cannot articulate.
Paul called them Lifeless Instruments or Carnal weapons.  The assembly was for speaking the Word of God. Unknown tongues are equated to musical instruments which do not edify or TEACH.
1Cor. 14:27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue,
        let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course;
        and let one interpret.
1Cor. 14:28 But if there be no interpreter,
        let him keep silence in the church;
and let him speak to himself, and to God.

David wanted to AWAKEN his lyre so that he could awaken the DAWN. Christ says:

Hab. 2:19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise,
        it shall teach!
Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver,
and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
Hab. 2:20 But the LORD is in his holy temple:
let all the earth keep silence before him.
Paul said that men should pray for PEACE and QUIETNESS.
The Women and men were to be SILENT.
So that "all might be saved or safe and come to a knowledge of the truth."

Anathema and Musical Worship
Anathema is anything so sacrificed or devoted to the Lord and could not be redeemed (Num. 18:14; Lev. 27:28, 29); and hence the idea of exterminating was connected with the word. The Hebrew verb (haram) is frequently used of the extermination of idolatrous nations
Hom. Od. 22.[5] “Lo, now at last is this decisive contest ended; and now as for another MARK, which till now no man has ever smitten, I will know if haply I may strike it, and Apollo [Abaddon, Apollyon] grant me glory.” He spoke, and aimed a bitter arrow at Antinous. Now he was on the point of raising to his lips a fair goblet, [10] a two-eared cup of gold, and was even now handling it, that he might drink of the wine, and death was not in his thoughts. For who among men that sat at meat could think that one man among many, how strong soever he were, would bring upon himself evil death and black fate?

If Jesus or Paul wanted to hint at any kind of musical performance in the assembly, they are not stupid as people assume: they know that psallo means to pluck or smite with your fingers and never with a plectrum.  You must use two words to command smite a harp. Legalism and Traditionalism: Laws followed in Preaching, singing, playing instruments, acting for a dole for which Christ gave no Role. Hypocrites (Ezekiel 33) are speakers for hire, singers, instrument players and paying audience.
Allowing Tradition to Trump Truth

  1. If you say that not using instruments in the School of the Word from the wilderness onward is just an evil, sectarian, patternist TRADITION imposed by churches of Chrit.
  2. And the Bible rejects any vocal or instrumental excitement in the synagogue--ekklesia. And Al Maxey became instrumental sectarian as late as 1878.
  3. Then the Spirit OF Christ in Jeremiah 23 says that you despise the Word and people and that word is BLASPHEMY against the Holy Spirit OF Christ.  Further, missed prepositions 101aa
  4. Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. In Ezekiel 33 the Spirit OF Christ named speakers for hire (hirelings), singers and instrument players. His MARK is that any musical performance proves that no one intends to speak that which is written nor to obey anything they heat.
  5. Jesus said that God HIDES from the wise or sophists: self-speaking for hire (a hireling), singers and instrument players.
  6. Contrary to "unity in diversity" meaning WE take YOUR property, Paul said that the cunning craftsmen or sophists (speakers, singers, instrument player, actor merchants" are LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.
    1. Recorded history proves that rhetoricians, singers, instrument players or actors learn LAWS required to deceive people.

Aristotle: Melody Deceives: "Poets also make use of this in inventing words, as a melody "without strings" or "without the lyre"; for they employ epithets from negations, a course which is approved in proportional metaphors..

The form of diction should be neither metrical nor without rhythm.
If it is metrical, it lacks persuasiveness, for it appears artificial, and at the same time it distracts the hearer's attention, since it sets him on the watch for the recurrence of such and such a cadence..

According to Philo, the gods of the pagans exploit this weakness of men. For the sake of a better effect, and with the intention of more easily cheating their devotes, that they have set their lies to melodies, rhythms and meters.." Click for more.

"Philodemos considered it paradoxical that music should be regarded as veneration of the gods while musicians were paid for performing this so-called veneration. Again, Philodemus held as self-deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy. He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines as a disturbance of the spirit. (Paul called it mad or insane) He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this folly."

HOW TO AMBUSH PEOPLE.

2 Chron 20:23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

"The priests shall blow the trumpets of massacre, and the Levites and all the blowers of the ram's horn shall sound a battle alarm,

"And on the banner of the ten they shall write, "Songs of joy for God on the ten-stringed harp,"

The Jacob-Cursed and God-abandoned Levites were commanded to STAND GUARD during the horrors of the sacrifice of innocent lambs: they would execute an Al Maxey who stumbled close to the now-Babylonish holy places or houses.

As noise makers called PARASITES who lived off stolen tithes and offerings they made a loud noise to make the lambs dumb before the slaughter.

The Heretic or Sectarian separated the lambs and lifted them up to cut their throats.

The New Covenant is made with the Laity of Israel and Judah who are the opposite of Priests and Levites.

My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to listen to your words,

but they do not put them into practice.

With their mouths they express devotion (Lord, Lord as amorousness - inordinate love),

but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain (commerce or trade or attendance). Eze 33:31

Rev 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird

And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; Rev 18:22

then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit,

to the people of long ago
I will make you dwell in the earth below,
as in ancient ruins, with those who go down to the PIT,and you will not return or take your place in the land of the living. Ezek 26:20

Isaiah 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms [maggots] cover thee.

Amos 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise [
tŭmultus] of thy songs [carmen] for I will not hear the melody [cantĭcum] of thy viols

Indeed, to them you are NOTHING MORE

than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice

and [NOTHING MORE than one who]

plays (make melody on) an instrument well,

for they hear your words

but do not put them into practice. Eze 33

Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee;

and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee:

for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more:
    though thou be sought for,

yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord God. Ezek 26:2

When all this comes true--

and it surely will--

then they will know that a prophet has been among them." Eze 33:33

Theiron or beast is "a new style of music or drama". This is the sign and way of escape.

Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

B. John Chrysostom understood Paul's message.
Chrysostom's Commentary on Galatians:

Galatians 5:1.-"With freedom did Christ set us free; stand fast therefore.115 ."
Ver. 12.

"I would that they which unsettle you would even
cut themselves off." And he says well "that unsettle you."  "A man that is heretical after the first and second admonition refuse." (Tit. iii: 10) If they will, let them not only be circumcised, but mutilated. Where then are those who dare to mutilate themselves; seeing that they draw down the Apostolic curse, and accuse the workmanship of God, and take part with the Manichees? ... But if you will not allow this,

why do you
not mutilate the tongue for blasphemy, the hands for rapine, the feet for their evil courses, in short, the whole body?
For the ear enchanted by the sound of a flute hath often enervated the soul;
and the perception of a sweet perfume by the nostrils hath bewitched the mind, and made it frantic for pleasure .
F.L.Lemley also missed Bible 101a since there is no command, example or remote inference of any congregational singing with or without instruments in the entire Bible.  Singing as an ACT was imposed from Syria c. ad 373 after Constantine allowed preachers to be paid for the first time in recorded history.  This was chanting by syllables the human-compositions.  This split the east from the western churches.

There is no command, example or remote inference of congregational singing (unison) without instruments until John Calvin permitted some psalms only to be rewritten and set to a simple melody: melody is not harmony.

The Bible and recorded history uses musical instruments which made a sound which spooked the superstitious then and now as the MARK of people called hypocrites of men who had no intention of obeying the wilderness onward command to PREACH the Word (only) by READING the Word on the REST days with no mediating clergy identified in all religions as parasites.  Any audience you can sell a TICKET for attendance are also hypocrites because they have no intention of obeying the command to elders to "teach that which has been taught."

No one tried to justify sowing discord by imposing the organ (only, we promise) until the Disciples in the year 1878 which sectarianized the Disciples-Christians but NOT Churches of Christ.  Jesus used the SOP to identify Judas as the musical deceiver (Psalm 41) or son of perdition.  SOP and PSALLO have the same root meaning and in 1878 it was the MARK prophesied in Revelation 17f of the "lusted after fruits" as craftsmen, singers and instrument players John called SORCERERS who HAD deceived the whole world. Instruments and Burning are always connected and the Sorcerers and Dogs will be (have been) CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE and punished for ever and ever.

The Spirit of Christ identified Lucifer (Zoe and Eve as practiced) as the singing and harp playing prostitute who had been cast as profane (Chalal, Halal) into the garden of Eden.  In Isaiah 30 Christ alerts us to the fact that the MARKS of God driving His enemies into "hell" will be the same wind, string and percussion instruments.
  1. We may not know how long is for ever and ever.
  2. We may not know the exact meaning of HELL or the Lake of Fire.
  3. We can be dogmatically certain that the CAST people are those who HAD forever tried to silence the voice of God in the prophets and apostles through Christ.
  4. Read any recent article or listen to any sermon and you will discover that mighty mouths for hire make certain that Jesus doesn't get a word in edgewise nor that any cultified member is liberated to enjoy the REST from the Scribes  and Pharisees, hypocrites nor believe that "your money was your own." The "lord" cannot use it.

Dwaine E. Dunning the NACC: There are at least three ways to kill a tree. You can poison it, or burn it. It might not survive if all the limbs were lopped off. But men usually choose to kill a tree by cutting down its trunk. We take an axe or saw to it not far above the roots and "fell" that tree.

Likewise a system of doctrine may be destroyed in various ways. It might be poisoned (or sweetened in this case) by injecting a different spirit into those who hold the doctrine.

Or its various contentions may be individually or specifically refuted,
like
lopping off a tree's branches one by one.

Aristot. Nic. Eth. 1175b.1

But things that are akin to things of different kinds must themselves differ in kind.
[3] A still clearer proof may be drawn
        from the hindrance that activities
receive from the pleasure derived from other activities.

For instance, persons fond of the flute
cannot give their attention
to a philosophical discussion [The LOGOS or Regulative Principle]
when they overhear someone playing the flute,
        because they enjoy music more than the activity in which they are engaged;
therefore the pleasure afforded by the music of the flute
                impairs the activity of study.

[4] The same thing occurs in other cases when a man tries to do two things at once; the pleasanter activity drives out the other, the more so if it is much more pleasant,
until the other activity ceases altogether.

Hence, when we enjoy something very much, we can hardly do anything else; and when we find a thing only mildly agreeable, we turn to some other occupation; for instance, people who eat sweets at the theater do so
especially when the acting is bad.

[
5] And since our activities [of the flute] are sharpened, prolonged and improved by their own pleasure, and impaired by the pleasures of other activities, it is clear that pleasures differ widely from each other. In fact alien pleasures have almost the same effect on the activities as their own pains; since,
when an activity causes pain, this pain destroys it,
         for instance, if a person finds writing or doing sums unpleasant and irksome;

for he stops writing or doing sums, because the activity is painful.
IF you have an APT elder their first job is to eject the cunning craftsmen or sophists: they are speakers for hire, singers, instrument players or actors. Jesus said that God HIDES from them. School of the Word is not possible because THEY ARE LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.

To claim that NOT beginning to use instruments which the faithful have NEVER USED since the Church in the wilderness is LEGALISM is one of those sins for which God casts them alive into the lake of fire.  Legalism is ALWAYS defined as the RULES and patterns for learning, practicing, performing and getting applauded for speaking, singing, playing instruments, acting or dancing (included in the music word).

"The 'sounding gong and tinkling cymbal' used in such worship are mentioned in a derogatory sense in 1 Corinthians 13:1; but the religious outcry itself is dealt with more directly.  It is essential that we understand that much of the shouting involved in the rite was the specific function of women.  Euripides describes the advent of Dionysiac religion to Thebes thus:  'This city, first in Hellas, now shrills and echoes to my women's cries, their ecstasy of joy'

God HIDES from the wise or sophists: self-speakers, singers and instrument players and reveals Himself only to "babes" who can understand that you cannot SPEAK and SING at the same time: this would intentionally silence Jesus as the ONLY Teacher when APT elders "teach that which has been taught."

AS A MARK OF A DISCIPLE OF CHRIST:

Silence the rhetoricians, singers and instrument players because THEY are lying in wait to DECEIVE.
Next, don't be IGNORANT but understand the WILL OF THE LORD.  He commanded that we teach and observe what HE commanded to be taught.
Next don't get filled with WINE as in the SOPHISTS
But, be filled with the Spirit which is the WORD of Christ (John 6:63)

logos God's Regulative Principle or Creative principle is done by SPEAKING logos
LOGOS is the opposite of rhetoric, singing, playing or acting which are learned, practiced, performed and judged by LEGALISTIC principles.

We repeat:
The command is to SPEAK

Please note that those who live off the widow's purse and sow discord make a MAJOR INDUSTRY over Ephesians 5: Paul COMMANDED SPEAK but they SEE the command to SING that which is NOT written.  Jesus flashed the mark of the SOP to signal the end of the Devil's gain. PSALLO has the same root meaning and it was FLASHED to signal the end time assault.

What God HIDES (from the wise or sophists: speakers, singers, instrument players) is that Ephesians 4 comes before Ephesians 5 and IF you have an APT elder the will be MARKED by ejecting the cunning craftsmen or sophists.  Sophists are speakers, singers, instrument players or actors. Paul conveyed the ABSOLUTE CENI to mark APT elders because Paul says that these hypocritic arts and crafts are men LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.

Edward Fudge NOT A Final Word about Hell

  1. Al Maxey and Edward Fudge call the Clear statements about Hell lies only they have discovered.
  2. Hell or the Lake of Fire is ALWAYS for those who have LIED about Instrumental Music.
  3. All recorded history including Scripture says that SATAN brought religious instruments to silence the Word.
  4. The Devil and his "angels of blight" and as many as they can recruit are the subjects.
  1. We may not know the exact meaning of HELL: some evidence suggests that it may be the burning of unsatisfied passion and being forced to live with those who HAD deceived the whole world since ages after ages agrees with several destructions of the "world" and REcreation.
  2. It may be true that being tormented for ever and ever might be just foolish writers and "traditionalists" before NOW.
  3. However, we can be dogmatically certain that those who are said to be driven into hell are done so with the sounds of wind, string and percussion instruments (Christ in Isaiah 30) or craftsmen (staff-parasites), singers and instrument players Jesus calls SORCERERS (Revelation) who will be cast ALIVE into the Lake of Fire shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. . (Revelation 20:10-14)
  4. The BEAST or Therion is defined as "A New Style of Music or Satyric-Cappella Drama by despicable people called "dogs" or "concision"  These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
  5. Topheth for the physical destruction outside of Jerusalem was for those CAST DEAD into burning garbage-not brimstone or sulfur.
LEGALISM INVOLVED THE JACOB-CURSED AND GOD-ABANDONED LEVITES

Because of the musical idolatry at Mount Sinai God turned the Civil-Military-Clergy complex over to worship the starry host.  They performed work or hard bondage in the belief that their cursed "mega church" could earn something from God Who owned all of the cattle on a thousand hills.

THOSE WHO LOOK FOR GREATER REWARD BY SOWING DISCORD AMONG THE WISE FROM WHOM GOD HIDES.

If you claim that NOT using musical instruments when we meet with Jesus to REST is based on two verses by Paul then you fall under the claim that God sends strong delusions to those who are not OF TRUTH or OF FAITH: that means that they are OF the World and Jesus doesn't even pray for them. The PROOF of being strongly deluded is that you destroy the REST Jesus died to give US with "lying wonders" which includes rhetoric, singing, playing instruments, acting and DANCING which is a defacto part of MUSIC.

You cannot have read Acts 7 and asked Stephen to define the clear words using BLACK text on BROWN paper.  The Jacob-Cursed and God-Abandoned Levites performed as "soothsayer-sorcerers using musical machines during animal slaughter and burnt offerings God did NOT command. Sorry, you can get a Phd and miss Isaiah 1 and Jeremiah 7.

A PARASITE is such a priest or instrumental noise maker to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter" are called PARASITES.  All STAFF not connected with obeying the command to teach what Jesus Christ commanded to be taught are in all systems of religionism called PARASITES.  They are DEDICATED to adorn or enhance a religious temple or holy place and that word is called ANATHEMA.  Those who have dedicated their bodies and skills to ENHANCE the Word are ANATHEMA which means "they cannot be redeemed and must be burned." That is why musical instruments (sourced from the Devil or Lucifer) are almost always connected with being PUNISHED FOREVER AND EVER or ages after ages.

So, to attain this object, both the lyre-master and his pupil must use the notes of the lyre, because of the distinctness of its strings, assigning to the notes of the song notes in tune with them;1 but as to divergence of sound and variety in the notes of the harp, when the strings sound the one tune and the composer of the melody another, or when there results a combination of low and high notes, of slow and quick time, of sharp and grave,

1 i.e. the notes of the instrument must be in accord with those of the singer's voice. “The tune, as composed by the poet, is supposed to have comparatively few notes, to be in slowish time, and low down in the register; whereas the complicated variation, which he is condemning, has many notes, is in quick time, and high up in the register.” (England.)

Hes. Th. 63 There are their bright dancing places and beautiful homes, and beside them the Graces and Himerus (Desire) live [65] in delight. And they, uttering through their lips a lovely voice, sing the laws of all and the goodly ways of the immortals, uttering their lovely voice. Then went they to Olympus, delighting in their sweet voice, with heavenly song, and the dark earth resounded [70] about them as they chanted and a lovely sound rose up beneath their feet as they went to their father.
THE WISE OR SOPHISTS: SPEAKERS, SINGERS, INSTRUMENT PLAYERS, ACTORS MUST FOLLOW EXACT LAWS.

Al Maxey: David lamented in one of his psalms the fact that a friend had become an enemy --- "My companion and my familiar friend; we who had sweet fellowship together; who walked in the house of God in the throng" (Psalm 55:13-14).

PICTURE OF THE FAMILIAR FRIEND: The Judas Box is always attached to the FLUTE CASE: The Judas Figure PIPES trying to ALARM Jesus.  Psallo and SOP have the same root meaning.

Psa 55:9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues:
        for I have seen
violence and strife in the city.
Psa 55:10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof:
mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

Psa 55:11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
Psa 55:12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it:
        neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me;
then I would have hid myself from him:
Psa 55:13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
Psa 55:14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
Psa 55:15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell:
for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

Psa 55:16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

Earler this friend (fiend) is defined:

An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more. Psalm 41: 8

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. Psalm 41: 9
But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
Psalm 41: 10 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. Psalm 41: 11

The Church of Christ (the Rock) outlawed "vocal or instrumental rejoicing" or speaking beyond PREACHING the Word by READING the Word.  Christ outlawed the alarm or triumph over and left is as a MARK to identify God's Enemies.

The Jewish clergy as "musical children" did play their pipes and tried to force John and Jesus into their dance of ecstasy in violation of God's will:

But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm. Nu 10:7

The truimph-over alarm, suitable to tribal movements, panicing the enemy or national rejoicing where no word from God was expected is:

Ruwa (h7321) roo-ah'; a prim. root; to mar (espec. by breaking); fig. to split the ears with sound, i. e. shout (for alarm or joy): - blow an alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful noise, smart, shout for joy, sound an alarm, triumph.

By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy (Judas) doth not triumph over me. Ps.41:11

Al Maxey Legalist: Enabling a weak soul is not ennobling it. We must learn the difference, and then proceed with love (both for Truth and the weak soul in need of its enlightening, freeing embrace).

God doesn't give anyone the right to ENABLE or DISABLE but Jesus.  Paul uses synagogue words for assemblying, gathering or coming together.  In Romans 14 paul SILENCES any private opinion which does not edify meaning EDUCATE.

WHO ARE THE WEAK WHO MIGHT ATTEND BUT NOT BE PERMITTED TO SPEAK.  If you DON'T play instruments when you CLAIM to speak for Jesus ALL of the Musical Discorders use the language of violence but speak out of their own imagination.

God is God and Al Maxey is Not: Therefore, Al Maxey does not get any authority--usurped from the vocational elders--is to teach that which has been taught.  God said that the Imagination of man is only evil continually. That is why Christ commanded US not to pay for the free water of the Word in Isaiah 55 and the pretenders NOT to seek their own pleasure or SPEAK THEIR OWN WORDS (Isaiah 58).  That's the command of the Spirit OF Christ: Al Maxey may know better.

Psallo is a wicked word so Paul SILENCED it.  If God had wanted to indicate musical melody (a series of single tones) He would have used the word MELOS: the word for meditating in the heart is MELETE.

Speaking, singing or playing instruments comes out of the apostate's OWN IMAGINATION and they intend to BIND people to RELIGIOUS observations to which Jesus said the Kingdom does not come. Al Maxey Legalist: In a fabulous study titled "Music and History," the author, F. L. Lemley, makes this observation: "There is no valid reason why one who seeks Truth should withhold information on a controversial point. Fear of reprisal from well-meaning, but often misinformed, brethren should never cause us to hesitate in telling all of the Truth we know" [Mission Messenger, vol. 30, no. 11, November, 1968].

F.L.Lemley had not read the Bible either.

F. L. Lemley and the Mission Messenger was a Purpose Driven Paper intended to be a Stalking Horse for the NACC after the RESTRUCTURE of the Disciples of Christ--Christian Church. That was finalized when the NACC was removed from the DISCIPLES body count as Churches of Christ denied that they had EVER unioned with the Disciples. Remember that the DISCIPLES finally removed the NACC from its census in 1971: Leroy Garrett (a Summerite) boasted about becoming a "campus minister." The Ston-Campbell Movement is a deliberate lie.

July 4-6, 1974, the 9th Annual Unity Forum was held at Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee. Leroy Garrett proposed this forum while at Bethany College nine years ago; F. L. Lemley presided on the panel which discussed "How Do Faith and Opinion Relate to Unity and Fellowship'!" The first speaker was Edward Fudge. A key point urged by Ed was, "Fellowship and unity, therefore, do not mean the same thing." (This and other quotes of Ed's speech taken verbatim from tapes.
The use of instruments is an OPINION which is ANTI-FAITH since faith comes by hearing. NOT using instruments was never based on opinion since there is not a command, example or remote inference of the godly people ever being called out of their rest for "congregational singing" with or without instruments.  The Disciples-Christians had built mega churches and staff from Carpet Bags: when they ran empty they confessed that they could not continue without adding the organ (ONLY, you see).

Edward Fudge first and always an ANTI is ANTI anything the Church of Christ does. That includes baptism, the Lord's Supper, Instrumental Music, Women in leadership and denouncing the Spirit of Christ about HOW LONG is forever and ever.

Al Maxey Legalist:  Whenever this subject comes up, get your Bibles ready because you can be sure that you will be referred to the "twin jewels" of all proof-texts: Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16. There it is, folks. Proof positive that God forbids the use of instruments when His church gathers to sing His praises.

Praise singing is the world's OLDEST profession of the "prophesier" or witchdoctor who was emotionally and sexually abnormal. By engaging in fertiliity rituals the praise concept is that you can CALL DOWN whatever material gift you praise.  Furthermore, the praise leader was hired to ASSIST the gods who kept on failing them over and over.  Paul said that the way to praise or glorify God is to "use one mind and one mouth to speak that which is written for our LEARNING." We straight adults don't do praise services when we sit dow and listen to Jesus IF you have APT elders.

Jacob cursed and God abandoned the Levites to worship the starry host in the Babylonish Jerusalem. God did not command king, kingdom, temple, animal slaughter or Levites making EXORCISING noises.

The Jews (Israelites) fell into instrumental of the always-pagan Egyptian trinity at Mount Sinai. This was a sin beyond redemption and God turned them over to worship the Starry host.

Lucifer is Venus, Zoe or EVE as she was worshipped as the only Mediatrix.  The Spirit OF Christ called him/her "a singing and harp-playing prostitute in the garden of Eden."

Christ outlawed "vocal or instrumental rejoicing" or Al Maxey's private words.  The synagogue was defined as:
EXCLUSIVE of vocal or instrument rejoicing that "blowing the trumpet" sounds.
INCLUSIVE of REST, reading and rehearsing the Word of god.
That pattern never changed for the godly Jews and continued by the definition of ekklesia or synagogue as a School of the Word.
There is no command, example or remote inference of congregational singing with or without instruments in the Bible or until long after the Reformation.
Instrumental noise is always the CAUSE or MARK of God driving His enemies into hell or the Lake of Fire.

Al Maxey Legalist: And then I bothered to read mine!! It wasn't long before I was asking God to forgive me for my ignorance and arrogance!! I was ashamed of myself for mishandling His Word so horribly, and, frankly, am both ashamed and embarrassed by the continued distortion of these texts by the traditionalists [a lie word] in my faith-heritage. [a lie word]

Paul did not CORRUPT the Word meaning selling learning at wholesale. Those who give the Simon Magos the "spirit gift" sell learning at RETAIL.  That word means PROSTITUTION.

LOGOS or word is the Regulative principle: it is the opposite of Al's rhetoric, singing, playing instruments or acting.
Christ in Isaiah 8 said of those who do not SPEAK THE WORD "THERE IS NO LIGHT IN THEM." Therefore, Al is still strongly deluded and believes his own lies. PROOF?  Lying Wonders includes rhetoric, singing, playing or acting in a religious OPERATION to which Jesus said the kingdom does not come.

Jesus said that God HIDES from the WISE or SOPHISTS: speakers, singers and instrument players.
Jesus said that He will not pray for the WORLD or KOSMOS promoted by the NACC and once-Christian colleges as COSMIC WORSHIP.

for we are members [of the assembly] one of another.

Christ in the Wilderness defined A SCHOOL OF THE WORD: it was PREACHED by being READ on the REST days. Christians are Disciples and Disciples are STUDENTS. Students do not attend "worship services" which is what the pagans.  Christians never gathered, assembled or come together as SYNAGOGUE to make music when it was outlawed for the crude and rude.

Al Maxey LegalistThe legalistic [a lie word] patternists [a lie word],
however, will become so enraged over such a revelation
that they will almost literally foam at the mouth,
[a lie word]

for this truth renders their "proof texts" for condemning the "denominationalists" for their "soul-damning error" of using instruments in a "worship service" null and void. The stark reality is: the only ones in error here are those condemning where God Himself has not!! [a lie word]

We patternists since the Word or Logos is the REGULATIVE PRINCIPLE only get uppity when Maxeyites boast about infiltrating and diverting YOUR congregation into a theater for holy entertainment.

Al Maxey LegalistIf one will simply bother to examine the context of these two passages, one will quickly discover that the apostle Paul is NOT discussing procedural precepts and ritualistic restrictions for a "worship service" in a "church sanctuary" on a Sunday morning. He is discussing guiding principles of daily living among the disciples of Christ.

When Paul uses words such as assemblying yourselves, gathering together or coming together which is a SYNAGOGUE word he is speaking of the ekklesia or the assembly of Christ. The ONLY reason they came together in a ONCE A WEEK PATTERN was ordained by Christ for the ekklesia, synagogue, qahal or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness.

THE ONE PIECE PATTERN WHICH EXCLUDED RHETORIC OR STAFF:

Acts 8:32 The place of the scripture which he READ was this,
        He was led as a sheep to the slaughter;
and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city
        them that PREACH him, being
READ in the synagogues every sabbath day.

Acts 23:34 And when the governor had
READ the letter,
        he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;

2Cor. 3:14 But their minds were blinded:
for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the
READING of the old testament;
which vail is done away in Christ.
2Cor. 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is READ, the vail is upon their heart.

Col. 4:16 And when this epistle is
READ among you,
        cause that it be
READ also in the church of the Laodiceans;
        and that ye likewise
READ the epistle from Laodicea.

1Th. 5:27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be
READ unto all the holy brethren.

Rev. 5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to
READ the book, neither to look thereon.

JESUS was defining A School of the Word of Christ: a church of Christ is built upon or EDUCATED by the Prophets and Apostles. Why would anyone think about making music to EDUCATE?

Ephesians 4 Comes before Ephesians 5:

Paul ALWAYS silences the hypocritic arts and crafts SO THAT the direct command to "use one mind and one mouth" to teach "that which is written for our LEARNING" is possible. Paul continues to show that the Scriptures are for our Comfort: Jesus as the  Holy Spirit Paraklete COMFORTS through His Word.  Preaching, singing and playing instruments and making you PAY for it is NOT very comforting.

Cunning craftiness has the same meaning as SOPHOS:

1Cor. 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you
seemeth to be wise [sophos] in this world,
let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

Al Maxey Legalists: "But, it says to sing 'in your hearts,'" the legalists will counter. Okay, so where do you get the authority for using your voice box? Two can play this "law of silence" game. The reality is: when you examine the context you will discover quickly that there are two audiences in view in these passages.

One is GOD, the other is ONE ANOTHER.

Singing and psalming (making melody) in our hearts is "to the Lord." Audible sounds are irrelevant with this audience, for it is our hearts He "hears."

ODE is the opposite of LEXIS or SPEAK.
If you SPEAK one to another "using that which is written for our learning."
Then ODE and PSALLO are IN or in the PLACE of the heart or MIND.
If I keep the "enchantment" and making war or making sex IN the heart then ODE and PSALLO are SILENT.

Paul said that the converted Jews:
Worshipped God IN THE SPIRT and NOT IN THE FLESH.
Rejecting the ODE and PSALLO would keep the DOGS or CONCISION or old style praise howlers from being interested.

Al Maxey Legalist TRADITIONALISTS: "But, the history of the first several hundred years shows most early disciples didn't use instruments." Okay, so now we're going to determine and establish Christian attitudes and practices based on historical precedent?

No literate historic scholar could even HALLUCINATE ANY KIND OF MUSIC in The School (only) of the Word (only).

The Historic Scholars had Read Synagogue, Ekklesia, Qahal or Church of Christ (the ROCK) in the wilderness. They understood that "vocal or instrumental rejoicing" or any personal opinions were EXCLUDED
The PATTERN was to Rest, Read and Rehearse The word of God (only)

Sabbath or REST was in the isolated villages and WORK outlawed "sending out ministers of God."

See John Calvin describing the Qahal or Church of Christ in the Wilderness which was an ACADEMY and never a "worship center."

The Direct Command is to SPEAK that which is written for our learning.
Nothing from God is metrical and cannot be sung tunefully
Singing or cantillating in Unison only was made possible by Calvin allowing some Psalms (only) to be set to a simple meter.
The Catholics never engaged in congregational singing with organ accompaniment.

Hymnody developed systematically, however, only after the emperor Constantine legalized Christianity (AD 313); and it flourished earliest in Syria, where the practice was possibly taken over from the singing by Gnostics and Manichaeans of hymns imitating the psalms. The Byzantine Church adopted the practice; in its liturgy, hymns maintain a much more prominent place than in the Latin liturgy; and Byzantine hymnody developed complex types such as the kanon and kontakion (qq.v.; see also Byzantine chant). Saint Ephraem--a 4th-century Mesopotamian deacon, poet, and hymnist--has been called the "father of Christian hymnody." Britannica Online

From Ephraim the Syrian and Aphrahat the Persian Sage

To Ephraim pertains the high and unique distinction of having originated-or at least given its living impulse to-
a
new departure in sacred literature; and that, not for his own country merely, but for Christendom.

From him came, if not the first idea, at all events the first successful example,
of making song an essential constituent of public worship,
and an exponent of theological teaching;
and from him it spread and prevailed through
the
Eastern Churches, and affected even those of the West.

To the Hymns, on which chiefly his fame rests, the Syriac ritual in all its forms owes much of its strength and richness;
and to them is largely due the place which Hymnody holds throughout the Church everywhere. And hence it has come to pass that, in the Church everywhere, he stands as the representative Syrian Father, as the fixed epithet appended to his name attests-" Ephraim the Syrian,"-the one Syrian known and reverenced in all Christendom.

From a few lines of Proba's work can be seen the problems with this approach: little of what was created could justifiably be placed alongside the great works of the past, and since that was an implicit target the failure to meet it was embarrassing; more pressingly, such Christianisations did not appeal to the highly educated, who preferred to read the imitated originals,

and did not appeal to Christians who would not otherwise have read the originals, who needed something written to their own culture and not to that of a past elite. This kind of imitation had its brief flourishing at the time of the emperor Julian, who forbade Christians to teach pagan works, but had no lasting effect.

Al Maxey Legalist: Lemley said,

"Frankly, it is not conclusive to reason that because instrumental music was not used in the first century it is therefore wrong and sinful and against God's will. The fact that a practice wasn't in vogue in the first century isn't proof that God disapproves of it" [Mission Messenger, vol. 30, no. 11, November, 1968].

We DO know that when it was used it was condemned.

We repeat to the deaf: there is NO MUSICAL CONTENT in the Assembly as a SCHOOL OF THE WORD.
It is OUTLAWED: Lemley is being legalistic by seeking a command that says THOU SHALT NOT PLAY THY INSTRUMENT WHEN JESUS COMES TO BE OUR ONLY TEACHER.

Bro. Lemley goes on to say:

"Let us assume that instrumental music was not in use among any of the congregations in the first century. Has it ever occurred to history students to enquire as to WHY it was not used? Should not the reason WHY it was not used have some bearing on our reasoning? ... Was it because God had spoken on it and condemned its use? No! There is not one word on the specific subject in the New Testament Scriptures" [ibid].

LEMLEY LIES LAWLESSLY: Lemley does not know and has no need to know the meaning of specific words used to identify those who make religious music as a profession: the Jacob-Cursed and God-Abandoned Levites prophesied with instruments which means that they were soothsayer-sorcerers out of Egypt where they served infant burning as PRIMARY PARASITES/

Lemley correctly points out in his study that the use of instruments is considered sinful today by the legalists by virtue of their humanly devised "law of silence."

The SINNERS beyond redemption at Mount Sinai were the ones who IMPOSED instruments.  Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: in Ezekiel 33 Christ named preachers for hire, singers and instrument players. The MARK was they would neither speak nor obey the Word.  Because of their IMPROVIZING Jesus said that their worship was VAIN.

From about 1878 recorded history will show that the Disciples-Christians said that NOT using instruments was SINFUL and Evil.  Churches of Christ get vocal ONLY when evil preachers boast about "infiltrating and diverting YOUR property into a theater for holy entertainment." The agents of the Standard sent eveangelists into Tennessee boasting WE WILL TAKE TENNESSEE FOR THE ORGAN AND SOCIETY PARTY WITHIN FIVE YEARS.

IT IS A FACT THAT THE DISCIPLES OF CHRIST INVENTED THE LAW OF SILENCE IN A LAWLESS SENSE.

Al Maxey Legalist: For a faction within the Body to take these texts from out of their contexts, and to force them into service as proof-texts for personal and party preferences and practices, is an abuse of God's Word that borders on "abomination."

Peter spoke of some "untaught and unstable" characters who were "distorting the Scriptures to their own destruction" (2 Peter 3:16).

Understand why I say this. It is because, as we were just saying, if you get hold of the distinguishing characteristic by which a given thing differs from the rest, you will, as some say, get hold of the definition or explanation of it;
but so long as you cling to some common quality,
your explanation will pertain to all those objects
        to which the common
quality belongs.

Al Maxey Legalist Disruptive: May God protect us from such folk, for, sadly, they have always been around doing their best to disturb the simplicity and purity of the Gospel, as well as disrupting the unity of the One Body.

Churches of Christ were never UNIONED with the Disciples of Christ or Christian Churches.
Alexander Campbell said there could be no fraternal unity before the 1832 agreement of a few preachers
The 1832 signed agreement would have forbidden anything not commanded to prevent disrupting the School of Christ.
Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone denied that there could be ONE BODY after the 1823. Stone would demand a Creed and the name Christian and defined "unity" as the Reformed Baptists "coming over to US."

The Disciples-Christians claimed that We will take Tennessee for the Organ and Society party within 5 years.
They tried to confiscate a church or two and published lots of hate literature.
In 1906 David Lipscomb agreed with the Census Taker that the Disciples-Christian COULD NOT count Churches of Christ as part of their DENOMINATION.

So to speak of division caused by godly members of THE BODY for not beginning to do something they had NEVER DONE by direct command from the wilderness onward is one of the LIES told as psychologial violence but it IS a lie and the sorcerers (rhetoricians, singers, instrument players) will have their place in the LAKE OF FIRE with liars.
