Apologetics Press: Genesis 1 has many parallels and is always an account of God's Spiritual (light) regeneration of ignorant aborigines (darkness). Perhaps nothing has been more destruction to LIGHT in combat with DARKNESS than insistinging that Moses' inversion of Babylonian myths to warn the Instrumental-Trinitarian-Perverted PLAY which was beyond redemption.

The recent rise of both Musical Idolatry and claiming that Father and Son needed A Holy Spirit god to make them INTELLIGIBLE.

Review of:  Dave Miller, Ph.D.

Dave Miller and others claim that Jesus' always called the SON OF MAN is some devious way of claiming to being DIVINITY meaning that GOD CAME IN THE FLESH.  Jesus called that Blasphemy and John identified it as the mark of Antichrist.

Gen. 21:33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba,
        and called there on the name of the LORD, [Yhwh]
         the
EVERLASTING God. [Elohim]
Psa. 41:13 Blessed be the Lord-God of Israel
        from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
Psa. 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth,
        or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world,
        even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
Psa. 106:48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel
        from
EVERLASTING to everlasting:
        and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the Lord.

Messiah the seed of a woman, of Abraham, of David would be a BORN CHILD and cannot be the everlasting Father Who created him;

Is. 9:6 For unto us a CHILD is BORN,
        unto us a SON is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
        and his NAME SHALL BE CALLED
                Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God,
                the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The Child Could not be the Father or CONTAIN the Father literally.  Paul debunked the worship WORKS in Athens and mocked their understanding of God.  Paul said "IN Him we live, move and have our being." God is OMNIPRESENT.

Num. 23:19 God is NOT A MAN, that he should lie;
         neither the SON OF MAN that he should repent:
         hath he said, and shall he not do it?
         or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Hab. 1:12  Art thou not from EVERLASTING,

        O Lord  [yhwh] my God [elohim], mine Holy ONE? we shall not die.
        O Lord, thou hast ordained them for judgment;
        and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.

In John 1 it was the WORD of God which with Light or Grace became visible and audible in the FLESH body of Jesus of Nazareth.

ALL OF THE AUTHORITY AND WORDS OF JESUS ARE DERIVED FROM THE FATHER

John 5:26 For as the Father HATH LIFE IN HIMSELF
        so HATH he GIVEN to the SON to have life in himself;
John 5:27 And HATH GIVEN him authority to EXECUTE judgment also,
        BECAUSE he is the SON OF MAN

Jesus in His STATE of Holy Spirit is not ignorant as loudly declared: He didn't REALLY mean to say "Because He IS God."

1Tim. 2:5 For there is ONE GOD
        and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men,
        the MAN Christ Jesus;

Heb. 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great HIGH PRIEST
       that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the SON of God,
       let us hold fast OUR PROFESSION.

Heb. 4:15 For we have not an high
PRIEST
        which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities;
        but WAS in all points
TEMPTED like as WE are, yet without sin.
James 1:13  Let no man say when he is tempted,
        I am tempted of God:
        for God cannot be tempted with evil,
        neither tempteth he any man:
James 1:18 Of HIS own will BEGAT
        he us with the WORD of truth,
        that WE should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
The Word, Logos or Regulative Principle outlaws any human input: it is the only source for GIVING Life From the ONE Self-Existing Almighty.
1John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
        And if any man sin,
        we have an ADVOCATE [Paraclete: THE Comforter in another form]
        with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

1John 5:1 Whosoever believeth
        that Jesus is the Christ is born of God:
        and every one that loveth HIM that begat
        loveth him also that is begotten of him.
1John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not;
        but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself,
        and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1John 5:19 And we know that we are OF God,
        and the whole WORLD [Kosmos, Ecumenical Kingdom of the Devil]
        lieth in wickedness.
1John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come,
        and hath given us an understanding,
        that we may know him that is true,
                and we are in HIM that is TRUE,
                        EVEN in his Son Jesus Christ.
                This is the true God,
                        and ETERNAL LIFE

Lest people be led into Blasphemy and AntiChrist, John put it into another form:

John 17:2 As THOU hast given him power over all FLESH,
        that HE should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
John 17:3 And this is life eternal,
        that they might know THE the ONLY true God,
        AND Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
The rise of a CLERGY claiming to be "Seniors," THE authoritative Teacher and now APOSTLES to replace failing Elders are forced to DESPISE the work of Jesus by passing Him off as one of the Three-In-One conjoined gods.
The Always-Pagan Triads were father god, mother-spirit goddess and son as "NexGen" god.

God Imaged His PERSONAL triad nature as the SINGULAR Jesus who IMAGED or was the FORMA OF GOD so no Disciple could accidentally think of Three gods in One.  It is insulting the singular ALMIGHTY to think that Jesus-in the STATE of Holy Spirit-was unable to say, if true, that the MAN Jesus of Nazareth WAS GOD in the FLESH.

Leonard Allen Poured OutThe very truth about Christ--that he is God in the FLESH, Son Saviour, and Messiah--becomes INTELLIGIBLE through the deep work of the Spirit.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every SPIRIT,
        but try the SPIRITS whether they are of God:

        because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit OF GOD:
        Every spirit that confesseth that J
        JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH IS OF CHRIST

1John 4:3 And every SPIRIT that CONFESSETH not
        that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
        is not of God: and this is that SPIRIT OF ANTICHRIST

        whereof ye have heard that it should come;
        and even now already is it in the world.

Matt. 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said,
        Thou art the Christ, the SON of the LIVING GOD.

Matt. 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Matt. 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matt. 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture,
         and preached unto him Jesus.
Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said,
        See, here is water; what doth hinder [prevent or g2850 reserve for infliction, punish]]
        me to be baptized?

Whether you have been dipped or not, you are NOT INTO the kingdom or SCHOOL of Christ unless you can make the good confession with knowledge.

Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.
        And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Acts 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still:
        and they went down both into the WATER, both Philip
and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Jesus confessed that He was the SON of God (declared at baptism) and the Jewish and others were BLASPHEMERS for saying that He "makest Himself God".

Matt. 26:63 But Jesus held his peace.
        And the high priest answered and said unto him,
        I adjure thee by the
LIVING GOD [Eternally Living]
        that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ,
        the SON OF GOD.
         [God gave Jesus authority BECAUSE He was the Son of MAN and NOT God]

John 6:69 And we believe and are sure
        that thou art that Christ, the Son of the
LIVING GOD

Jesus always placed the KEYS into the hands of Sons of Men who became Sons of God by baptism. When Jesus returned to the Spiritual Realm with the role of Holy Spirit He placed the right to bestow SPIRIT and LIFE into His WORD which was one definition of GOD along with LIGHT or GRACE.

No one in the Scriptures who heard Jesus claim all authority ever baptized into THREE NAMES.
John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
John 6:63 It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth;
        the flesh profiteth nothing:  [There is NO Life or LIGHT in songs or sermons]
        the WORDS that I SPEAK unto you,
        they are
SPIRIT, and they are LIFE.

The witnesses saw Jesus ascend and saw Him as Fire and heard Him as Spirit as HE "poured out what you see and hear" in the Upper Room.

Jesus of Nazareth let Paul see Him as blinding LIGHT and heard His Voice.  When the Holy Spirit forbade his going into Bithynia it was the Spirit OF Jesus. I don't know of a single "speaker beyond the sacred pages" about God who take not of PREPOSITIONS.  The Spirit OF Jesus is His own BREATH which conveys His MENTAL DISPOSITION in WORDS.

Acts 16:

The Lord-God identified as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the only ALMIGHTY.
He is SELF EXISTING from Eternity and has been creating before 4004 B.C.
He gave LIFE to Jesus because He was the SON OF MAN and not one of three equal gods.

I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO ANY FURTHER.

"The Very Works that I Do Bear Witness of Me”

Dave Miller: It is one thing for a human being to claim to be DIVINE. Many in history have done so. But it is quite another for such an individual to prove it.

Divine is not connected to Deity.

2Pet. 1:1  Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ,
        to them that have obtained like precious faith with us
        through the righteousness of GOD
        AND our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2Pet. 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you
         through the knowledge of GOD, [Theos]
         AND of
        Jesus our LORD, [Kurios]
2Pet. 1:3 According as his DIVINE POWER
        hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
        through the KNOWLEDGE of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Divine Power is not DIVINITY as confused with Deity.

Dīvīnus  I. of or belonging to a deity, divine divina studia colere  divina facta,
        stŭdĭum   busying one's self about or application to a thing; assiduity
2. The divine, that which comes from God

2Pet. 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding
        great and precious promises:
        that by these ye might be PARTAKERS of the divine NATURE,
        having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Jesus is never a THEOS and was not made to be KURIOS until He was thirty years later.

g2304.  theios, thi´-os; from 2316; godlike (neuter as noun, divinity): — divine, godhead.

g2316.  theos, theh´-os; of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with 3588) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very: — x exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).

Dave Miller: Jesus Christ stands out from all other persons who have inhabited the planet in that His claim to divinity actually was proven to be true. The book of John is certainly one prominent witness among the books of the New Testament that report this fact.

Jesus was given Divine Power and always denies that He had any power which did not include God's Authority.

Deut. 18:15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee
        a Prophet from the midst of thee,
        of thy brethren,
        like unto me;
        unto him ye shall hearken;
Deut. 18:18 I will RAISE them up a Prophet from among their brethren,
        like unto thee,
        and will put My WORDS in his MOUTH;
        and he shall SPEAK unto them all that I shall COMMAND him.
Jesus was not a Prophet nor a Son until He was born of the SEED of David according to the FLESH.
"Spirit" is never a Person but the Mind or Mental Disposition of that person.  Spirit is Figurative or a Parable to make it CLEAR that God does not REQUIRE another god-person to put His WORD into the MOUTH of A Moses, the Prophets and LASTLY the Man Jesus of Nazareth who became a son when He was baptized but did not become the only begotten Son over His kingdom until He was raised from the dea.
Deut. 18:19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever
        will not hearken unto MY WORDS which HE shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
Deut. 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

Acts 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God RAISE UP unto you of your BRETHREN,
         like unto me; him shall ye HEAR in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
Acts 7:37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

The Lord-God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; and Jesus and the Holy Spirit tries with all of their might to prove that there is just ONE Almighty in which, says Paul of futil religionists, is the Universal Mind in whom we live move and have our being.

A minimalist student of the Bible cannot miss the truth.   Since Jesus always says that He is the Son of Man made of flesh and bones and identifies BLASPHEMERS those who claim that He made Himself God, In these end-times everyone claims that Jesus was too ignorant to say that He was GOD IN THE FLESH

Latin Divine: dīvus a god, deity, divine being

A Church of Christ of which Jesus is the Head is commanded to "teach that which has been taught." It has no other function.

Hark to his melodramatic bombast: “Oh, Earth! Oh, Sun! Oh, Virtue,” and all that vaporing; his appeals to “intelligence and education, whereby we discriminate between things of good and evil report”—for that was the sort of rubbish you heard him spouting.

Dave Miller: Since Johns book was written for the explicit purpose of demonstrating “that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God” (John 20:31), it is not surprising that the DEITY of Christ is asserted over and over, in many forms, on virtually every page.

Jesus was born IN THE FLESH 30 years before God MADE HIM TO BE both Lord (Kurios not Theos) and Christ (God anointed) or Sanctified and sent Jesus after He was baptized.

All of the faithful are Sons of God but by simple English this does not say "Jesus is the anointed DEITY."
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe
        that Jesus is the Christ, the SON OF GOD
        and that believing ye might have life through his name.

THE ONLY TRUE GOD Anointed or made Jesus TO BE both Lord and CHRIST.

John 17:2 As THOU hast given him power over all flesh,

John 17:3 And this is life eternal,

John 17:5 And now,

Jesus was from ABOVE but the people of the WORLD, Kosmos, Ecumenical or the kingdom of the Devil.
He said that those OF the World were from BENEATH or Tartarus.
The War in heaven is beyond our grasp.
Eccl. 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:

ALL of those for whom Jesus was sent to rescue are the ELECT or tiny Jewish REMNANT and Gentiles whom God will Call.  These are Lost Spirits residing in DUST or Aborigines as strangers and sojourners.

Jesus said that He nor His were OF the World and therefore the Church or Assembly of Christ is a Covert, Umbrellicum or Safe House to retreat to when the WORLD is working really hard to gain God''s Approval.

Messianic Jews being favored by "Christians" have the need to reject the MAN Jesus was SENT from God on mission but was come from:
Mic. 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah,
        though thou be little among the thousands of Judah,
        Yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel;
        whose goings forth [Prophecy- Genealogy]  have been from of old, from everlasting

h4163.  mowtsa}ah, mo-tsaw-aw´; feminine of 4161; a family descent;

1. “Origins” literally signifies a “going out,” hence a beginning or birth, and thus the verse is saying that the birth of the Messiah has been determined, or appointed, from everlasting.
         In contrast to the Messiah who had an origin, the true God is without origin.

2. The ancient Jews read this verse and realized that it spoke of the birth and birthplace of the Messiah. One of the few things the Jews at the time of Jesus did understand about the Messiah was that he would be born in Bethlehem (Matt. 2:3-6). Yet of the Jews who read, studied, and understood the verse, there is no record that any of them concluded from the wording that Jesus had to be “God incarnate.”

Mic. 5:3 Therefore will he give them up,
        until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth:
         then the remnant of his BRETHREN shall return unto the children of Israel.
Mic. 5:4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the Lord,
        n the majesty of the name of the Lord his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
Mic. 5:5 And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
Mic. 5:6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
3. The context of Micah makes it clear that the “ruler” from Bethlehem will not be God. This ruler will be born, and have “brothers.” No Jew ever thought God could be born, and the thought of the Creator of the Heavens and earth having brothers was absurd to them. These verses are speaking of God’s anointed king, and the Word declares, not that this ruler will be God, but rather that Yahweh will be “his God” (v. 4). Thus, this text of Micah is clear: a child will be born in Bethlehem and the Israelites will be his brothers, but he will grow up to deliver and rule the nation and stand in the strength of Yahweh his God.

One such instance is seen in our Lord’s conversation with Nicodemus, a Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin. Having seen the “signs” (used 17 times in John) Jesus performed, he was honest enough to draw the only plausible conclusion warranted by that evidence:

“we know that You are a teacher come from God” (John 3:2).

John 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him,
        Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher COME FROM GOD
        for no MAN can do these miracles that thou doest,
        EXCEPT God be WITH him.

If Jesus came from God then He cannot BE God.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
        Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born WHEN he is old?
        can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
        Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
        he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Heb. 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
        having our hearts sprinkled FROM an EVIL CONSCIENCE,
        and our bodies washed [baptized] with pure water
1Pet. 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us
        (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,  [Jewish washings]
        but the Request For a good
CONSCIENCE toward God,)
        by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

After asserting His deity by authoritatively articulating the only way to enter the kingdom of God (vss. 3-8), Jesus set forth additional teaching:

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh;
        and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth,
        and thou hearest the sound thereof,
        but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth:
        so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

“No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:13-15).

 In this passage, Jesus issued four unmitigated affirmations of His divine identity:

John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven,
        but he that came down from heaven,
        even the SON OF MAN
John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
        even so must the Son of man be LIFTED UP
[Crucified]:

Jesus of Nazareth was born IN THE FLESH. He was SENT from heaven. Jesus is the Visible-Audible WORD, Spirit, Life, Light etc

John 1:6 There was a MAN sent from God, whose name was John.

Acts 7:35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge?
        the same did GOD SEND to be a ruler and a deliverer
        by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
Acts 10:36 The WORD which God SENT unto the children of Israel,
        preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

The Glorified Jesus in the STATE of Holy Spirit (never a person) presented His blood to God in the heavenly Tabernacle. He then RETURNED as He promised the Apostles as the Comforter and in the Upper Room HE "poured out what was seen and heard."

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him SHOULD not perish, but have eternal life.

  Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them,
        commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem,
         but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Acts 2:30 Therefore being a prophet,
        and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him,
        that of the fruit of his loins, according to the FLESH,
         he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ,
        that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Acts 2:32 This Jesus hath God RAISED UP up, whereof we all are witnesses.
Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the RIGHT HAND of God exalted,
        and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost,
        HE hath shed forth this,
        which ye now see and hear.
Acts 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens:
        but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
Acts 2:35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son
        Into the world to condemn the world;
        but that the world through him might be saved.

John 10:36 Say ye of him,
        whom the Father hath SANCTIFIED[at Baptism]
        and SENT into the world,
                Thou blasphemest;
                because I said, I am the Son of God?

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned:
        but he that believeth not is condemned already,
         because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

 In fact, one would have to inhabit eternity and be preexistent to offer eternal life to finite beings (cf. John 6:62).

Jesus was born IN THE FLESH 30 years before He was SENT from HEAVEN.  Jesus was SON as WORD.

John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the SON OF MAN ascend up where he was before?

The Visible-Audible WORD of God; the Visible LIGHT and GRACE which TEACHES were before the Spiritual Kingdom.  It does not come with OBSERVATION meaning RELIGIOUS observations and God will not be worshipped in HOUSES built by human hands nor by the WORKS of Human Hands.  We come OUTSIDE to REST and LEARN of ME.  The Word or Logos is God's Regulative Principle: it outlaws speakers, singers or instrument players.  The commanded PATTERN even in the wilderness was to hear PREACHING which is now READING the Word once a week in the assembly.

John 6:63 It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth;
        the flesh profiteth nothing:
        the WORDS that I speak unto you,
        they are
SPIRIT, and they are LIFE.

John 6:31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written,
        He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

Everything comes FROM GOD.  However, Moses was God's Instrumental Means.

John 6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
        Moses gave you NOT that bread from heaven;
        but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
John 6:33 For the BREAD of God is he which cometh down from heaven,
        and giveth life unto the world.
John 6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them,
        I am the BREAD of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger;
        and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6:36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
John 6:37 All that the FATHER GIVETH me shall come to me;
        and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

John 6:57 As the living Father hath SENT me,
        and I LIVE by the Father:
        so he that EATETH me, even he shall live BY me.
John 6:58 This is that BREAD which came down from heaven:
        not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead:
        he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

John 6:61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it,
        he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the SON OF MAN ascend up where he was before?
John 6:63 It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth;
         the flesh profiteth nothing:
        the WORDS that I speak unto you,
        they are
SPIRIT, and they are LIFE.
John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not.
        For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
John 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you,
        that no man can come unto me,
        except it were given unto him of my Father.

John 6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
John 6:44 No man can come to me,
        except the Father which hath sent me DRAW him:
        and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:45 It is written in the prophets,
        And they shall be all TAUGHT OF GOD.
        Every man therefore that hath heard,
        and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Background

Twice in the text of John 3:13-15, Jesus refers to himself as “the Son of Man” (also John 1:51; 5:27; 6:27,53,62; 8:28; 9:35; 12:23; 13:31).

The SEED or SPERM of David or Abraham is a story line running through the Scriptures.  If God can SPEAK as the SEED of the KINGDOM He could preserve the SEED of David. Mary CONCEIVED in her womb and Jesus was born IN THE FLESH 30 or more years before He was Appointed, Sactified (at baptism) and SENT. This qualified Him to BECOME a Priest.  The fulfilling of Prophecy is THE big point.

Rom. 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
Rom. 1:2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
Rom. 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our LORD,
        which was made of the SEED of David according to the FLESH;

Rom. 1:4 And DECLARED to be the Son of God with power,
        according to the spirit OF holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

A "divine" person is one who obeys DEITY who cannot be murdered except rhetorically each NOT-the-Lord's day.
Rev. 1:5 And from Jesus Christ,
        who is the faithful witness,
        and the first begotten of the dead,
        and the prince of the kings of the earth.
        Unto him that loved us,
        and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself:
        handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

1Pet. 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust,
        that he might bring us to God,
        being put to death IN the flesh,
        but quickened BY the Spirit:

Rom. 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship,
        for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Rom. 1:6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
Rom. 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:
        Grace to you and peace from
        God our Father,
        AND
        the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matt. 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them:
        and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said,
        This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Mark 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying,
        Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Luke 3:22 And the Holy SPIRIT descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him,
        and a VOICE came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

What is the background of this construction? The phrase “son of man” is actually a Hebrew idiom.

A son OF Man IS a MAN. Jesus wants both male and female to be silent "so that we can all be SAFE and come to a knowledge of THE TRUTH which is THE WORD, Logos or Regulative principle. Both male and female performance speakers CLAIM to be and CLAIM a wage to ENHANCE the Word of God.

1Tim. 2:5 For there is ONE and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesu

Luke 24:36 ¶ And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
Luke 24:37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
Luke 24:38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet,
        that it is I myself: handle me, and see;
        for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them,
        These are the words which I spake unto you,
        while I was YET with you,
        that all things must be fulfilled,
        which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms,
        CONCERNING ME.
Luke 24:45 Then OPENED he their UNDERSTANDING,
        that they might understand the scriptures,

He opened their understanding by SAYING:
Luke 24:46 And said unto them,
        Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer,
        and to rise from the dead the third day:
Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins
        should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Luke 24:48 And ye are WITNESS of these things.
Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the PROMISE of my Father upon you:
        but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem,
        until ye be endued with power from on high.

The PROMISE of God or the Holy Spirit is the Evangelic Office as Head of His Church and the ONLY teachers when APT elders teach that which HAS BEEN TAUGHT.

Acts 2:32 This JESUS hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
         Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted,
        and having received of the Father the

hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Significance

“The son of man” was Jesus’ favorite way to refer to Himself (50 times—McClintock and Strong, 9:879). He undoubtedly wanted people to know that though He is God, when He came to the Earth, He came in human form and became fully human by taking on all the frailties of human flesh:

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:5-8, emp. added).

The MAN Jesus of Nazareth was born of the SEED of David THIRTY YEARS before God appointed Him to the priestly office of both Lord (Kurios not Theos) and Christ (anointed) or Sanctified and sent AFTER He was confessed as the SON of God by the FATHER.

1Cor. 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head,
        forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
2Cor. 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not,
        lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the IMAGE of God, should shine unto them

Paul did not say that Jesus WAS GOD from all eternity past: Godhead means "divine nature" and not being filled with the infinite Almighty.

4. A mould which gives form to something:

In actuality, the expression “son of man” occurs only one time in the Old Testament to refer exclusively to Jesus, the Messiah: Daniel 7:13. Herein likely lies the deeper significance of Jesus’ use of the term. It is to this verse that Jesus linked Himself when He came to Earth:

I was watching in the night visions, and behold,
        One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven!
        He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him.
Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed (Daniel 7:13-14).

Dan. 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down,
        and the ANCIENT OF DAYS did sit,
        whose garment was white as snow,
        and the hair of his head like the pure wool:
        his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

g1534. galgal, gal-gal´; by reduplication from 1556; a wheel; by analogy, a whirlwind; also dust (as whirled):—heaven, rolling thing, wheel.

Dan. 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him:
        thousand thousands ministered unto him,
        and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him:
        the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

Dan. 7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake:
         I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Dan. 7:12 As concerning the rest of the beasts,
        they had their dominion taken away:
        yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

While perhaps most of the “scholarly world” now rejects the identification of “son of man” in Daniel 7:13 with Jesus, the evidence nevertheless points to that very conclusion

Dan. 7:13 I saw in the night visions,
        and, behold, one like the SON OF MAN came with the clouds of heaven,
        and CAME TO the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
Dan. 7:14 And there was given him [
the Son] dominion, and glory, and a kingdom,
        that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:
        his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away,
        and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed

Indeed, the features of the prophecy match perfectly with the multiple specific affirmations made in the New Testament regarding the person of Jesus, depicted first and foremost in the incident recorded in Acts 1:9-11:

Acts 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up,
        after that HE through the Holy SPIRIT
        had given COMMANDMENTS unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

Spirit is never a person but the "mental disposition of God or Man."  Spirit is a figurative or Parable word to define how God ALWAYS Puts His WORDS into the MOUTH of A Moses, the Prophets and lastly Jesus.

Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs,
        being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them,
        commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem,
        but wait for the PROMISE of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water;
        but YE shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost NOT MANY DAYS HENCE. many days hence.

Jesus in the STATE of Holy Spirit returned as promised to the Upper Room and Poured out what YOU see and Hear.

Acts 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him,
        saying, LORD, [Kurios] wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
Acts 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons
         which the FATHER hath put in his own power.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power,
        after that the Holy SPIRIT is come upon YOU:
        and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea,
         and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things,
        while they beheld, he was taken up;
        and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Acts 1:10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up,
         behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee,
        why stand ye gazing up into heaven?
        this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,
        shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Jesus promised I will come to you. Jesus appeared as tongues of FIRE and Spirit to the Apostles and never to anyone else. ”

Observe carefully how Daniel 7 and Acts 1 harmonize with each other perfectly—Daniel giving details from the perspective of heaven and Luke giving the same details from the perspective of Earth where the incident commenced.

Neither in prophecy or fulfillment was the SON OF MAN ever GOD THE FATHER.

Since the expression “son of man” well describes Jesus in His earthly form, it fits that He would be so designated in Daniel 7:13  to refer to His post-resurrection, pre-ascension condition.

Matt. 17:2 And was transfigured before them:
        and his face did shine as the sun,
        and his raiment was white as the light.
Matt. 17:5 While he yet spake,
        behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them:
        and behold a voice out of the cloud,
        which said, This is my beloved Son,
        in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Matt. 17:6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
Matt. 17:12 But I say unto you,
        That ELIAS is come already, and they knew him not,
        but have done unto him whatsoever they listed.
        Likewise shall also the SON OF MAN suffer of them.
Matt. 17:13 Then the disciples understood
        that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

Luke 3:4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet,
        saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
        Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make his paths straight.
Is. 42:15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs;
        and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
Is. 42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

Jesus linked His humanity with His  DIVINITY by embedding the phrase in the midst of multiple affirmations of His eternality. The same may be said of the way He would use the phrases “son of man” and “son of God” interchangeably (e.g., John 1:49-51; Matthew 26:63-64). “The son of man” was not only the quintessential human being—the ultimate human—He was simultaneously God in the flesh.

1John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the CHRIST?
        He is ANTICHRIST, that denieth the Father AND the Son.

        the MAN Christ Jesus;

        thou art the King of Israel.
Jesus was declared to be "MY beloved SON after he was baptized."
He was not anointed as Lord and Christ until 30 years after he CAME IN THE FLESH.

Rom. 14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived,
        that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

Rom. 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord,
        every knee shall bow to ME,
        and every tongue shall confess to GOD.

ME is in no sense GOD.
John 1:50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee,
        I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
John 1:51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
        Hereafter ye shall see heaven open,
        and the angels of GOD ascending and descending upon the SON OF MAN
the SON OF MAN is not GOD

“SON OF GOD” (JOHN 5:18-26)

In the section immediately preceding John 5:18, Jesus healed a man who had been an invalid for 38 years. Rather than drawing the only logical conclusion, i.e., that Jesus is God, the Jews persecuted Jesus on the basis of His having healed the man on the Sabbath.

John 5:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

John 5:17 But Jesus answered them,
        My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him,
         because he not only had broken the sabbath,
         but said also that God was his Father,
         making himself equal with God.

JESUS CALLED THEM LIARS.

John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
        Verily, verily, I say unto you,
        The SON can do NOTHING of himself,
        but what he seeth the Father do:
        for what things soever he doeth,
        these also doeth the Son likewise.
John 5:20 For the Father loveth the Son,
        and sheweth him all things that himself doeth:
        and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
John 5:21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them;
        even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man,
        but hath COMMITTED all judgment unto the Son:

John 5:23 That all men should honour the Son,
         even as they honour the Father.
        He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him

1Tim. 2:5 For there is ONE GOD
        and one mediator between God and men,
        the MAN Christ Jesus;

On this occasion, their hostility toward Jesus manifested itself in their outrage at the fact that Jesus “not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God” (John 5:18).

Jesus never denied the claim to be DIVINE. Indeed, He asserted the claim Himself and defended it on numerous occasions, even before Pilate (John 18:37; 1 Timothy 6:13; cf. Matthew 26:63-66).

JESUS NEVER CLAIMED TO BE DIVINE; IF HE DID IT WOULD MAKE HIM GOD THE FATHER:

John 18:35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew?

“PROMISED MESSIAH” (JOHN 10:36)

Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.” Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”’? If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.” Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand (John 10:22-39).

John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
John 10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John 10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
John 10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
John 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
John 10:15 As the Father knoweth me,
        even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold:
        them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice;
        and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love ME,
        because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself.
        I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
        This commandment have I received of my Father.
John 10:19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
John 10:20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
John 10:21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

John 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him,
        and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt?
        If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not:
        the WORKS that I do in MY FATHER'S NAME, they bear witness of me.
John 10:26 But ye believe not,
        because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice,
        and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life;
        and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
John 10:29 MY Father, which gave them me,
        IS GREATER THAN ALL;
        and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

John 10:30 I AND my Father are ONE.

AND proves that Jesus is NOT God the Father.

Background

The Old Testament term “messiah” (mah-SHEE-ach), used 39 times, is always translated in the Septuagint by Christos. Both terms mean “anointed,” and refer to the consecration, or setting apart, of an object (animate or inanimate) for a special, sacred purpose, using anointing oil. Under Mosaic Law, inanimate objects that were anointed included, for example, the tabernacle utensils. Three persons were likewise anointed: priests, kings, and prophets. It is not coincidental that Jesus occupies all three of these roles in His redemptive work on our behalf.

He is Prophet (Matthew 13:57; Acts 3:22; 7:37), Priest (Hebrews 7; 9:11), and King (Matthew 21:5; 1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 19:16).

The Hebrew/Aramaic term “messiah” is used only twice in the Greek New Testament—both times in John. Peter’s brother Andrew used the term to refer to Jesus (John 1:41), and the Samaritan woman at the well expressed her awareness of the coming Messiah (John 4:25). Christos occurs 19 times in John (Moulton, Geden, and Moulton, 1978, p. 1012). The anointing of the Messiah for His messianic functions occurred when the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in the form of a dove at His baptism and “remained on him” (John 1:32). The Spirit then led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted (Luke 4:1). Jesus later returned to Galilee “in the power of the Spirit” (Luke 4:14). He went into the synagogue in His hometown of Nazareth and there told His listeners that Isaiah 61:1 was being fulfilled as He read it to them, beginning with the affirmation, “the Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me...” (Luke 4:18)—another indication of His messianic anointing. Peter accentuated the fruition of Jesus’ messianic role when he explained on Pentecost that with the advent of Jesus’ resurrection and ascension, “God has made this Jesus...both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). No wonder, then, that Jesus pressed the Pharisees and others to grasp the identity of the Messiah (e.g., Matthew 22:41-45).

Significance

During the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, the Jews surrounded Jesus and challenged Him to come right out and state whether He is the Messiah/Christ. Both His previous verbal affirmations, as well as His demonstrations of miraculous power, had already established the factuality of the point. “The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.” “Work” is a synonym for the key word of the book, “sign.” Jesus insisted that His miraculous acts verified and authenticated His messianic identity. Their failure to accept the indisputable evidence of that fact was due to their deliberate unbelief—their unmitigated refusal to accept the truth due to ulterior motives and alternate interests.

So Jesus pressed the point again very forthrightly by stating emphatically, “I and My Father are one.” Observe that Jesus was never evasive. He never showed fear or hesitation in the face of threats or danger. Instead, He gave them yet another explicit declaration of His divine identity—naturally rekindling their desire to execute Him for blasphemy (as per Leviticus 24:14-16; cf. 1 Kings 21:10). But Jesus short-circuited the intention to stone Him by posing a penetrating question: “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” Since the Son and the Father are one, and the miraculous actions that Jesus performed were every bit as much from the Father as the Son who performed them, which sign evoked this violent intention to execute Him? Of course, Jesus knew that they did not desire to execute Him for His miraculous signs. But by calling attention to His ability to perform miracles, He was again gigging them with their failure to accept the evidence of His divine identity. Dismissing the obvious conclusion that would be drawn by any unbiased, honest person, they insisted that He was deserving of execution for the very fact that He claimed to be God.

As was so often the case with Jesus’ handling of His contemporaries, He drew their attention back to the Bible, back to the Word of God (which He, Himself, authored). The Word of God is our only authority for deciding what to believe and how to act (Colossians 3:17). Jesus reminded them of Psalm 82:6—referring to that passage as “law.” [NOTE: Advocates of the so-called “new hermeneutic,” who have insisted that we have misinterpreted the Bible because we have lacked sufficient sensitivity for the variety of literary genre, need to redirect their criticism toward Jesus. It is true that the Bible contains many types of literature—from poetry and history to epistle and parable. Such literary forms certainly merit consideration in one’s attempt to extract the meanings intended by God. However, the hidden agenda of the “liberal” lies in his underhanded attempt to disparage and vilify law, and soften or eliminate the binding force of Scripture. Jesus cut through such nonsense by insisting that, regardless of the differing literary characteristics of the books of the Bible, all of Scripture is “Law,” in the sense that all of it has timelessly authoritative, legally binding application.]

Psalm 82

Why did Jesus allude to Psalm 82? Some suggest that His point was that since God could refer to mere humans as “gods,” Jesus’ accusers had no grounds to condemn Him for applying such language to Himself. But this line of reasoning would make it appear as if Jesus was being evasive to avoid being stoned, and that He likened His claim to godhood with other mere humans. A more convincing, alternative interpretation is preferable.

The context of Psalm 82 is a scathing indictment of the unjust judges who had been assigned the responsibility of executing God’s justice among the people (cf. Deuteronomy 1:16; 19:17-18; 2 Chronicles 19:6). Such a magistrate was “God’s minister” (diakonos—Romans 13:4) who acted in the place of God, wielding His authority, and who was responsible for mediating God’s help and justice (cf. Exodus 7:1). God had “given them a position that was analogous to His in that He had made them administrators of justice, His justice” (Leupold, 1969, p. 595). In this sense, they were “gods” (elohim)—acting as God to men (Barclay, 1956, 2:89). Hebrew parallelism clarifies this sense: “I said, ‘You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High’” (Psalm 82:6, emp. added). They did not share divinity with God—but merely delegated jurisdiction. They still were mere humans—though invested with divine authority, and permitted to act in God’s behalf.

This point is apparent throughout the Pentateuch, where the term translated “judges” or “ruler” is sometimes elohim (e.g., Exodus 21:6; 22:9,28). Moses is one example. Moses was not a “god.” Yet God told Moses that when he went to Egypt to achieve the release of the Israelites, he would be “God” to his brother Aaron and to Pharaoh (Exodus 4:16; 7:1). He meant that Moses would supply both his brother and Pharaoh with the words that came from God. Though admittedly a rather rare use of elohim, nevertheless, “it shows that the word translated ‘god’ in that place might be applied to man” (Barnes, 1949, p. 294, emp. in orig.). Clarke summarized this point: “Ye are my representatives, and are clothed with my power and authority to dispense judgment and justice, therefore all of them are said to be children of the Most High” (n.d., 3:479, emp. in orig.). But because they had shirked their awesome responsibility to represent God’s will fairly and accurately, and because they had betrayed the sacred trust bestowed upon them by God Himself, He decreed that they would die (vs. 7). Obviously, they were not “gods,” since God could and would execute them!

A somewhat analogous mode of expression is seen in Nathan’s denunciation of David: “You have killed Uriah the Hittite” (2 Samuel 12:9)—though an enemy archer had done so (2 Samuel 11:24; 12:9). No one would accuse the archer of being David, or David being the archer. Paul said Jesus preached to the Gentiles (Ephesians 2:17)—though Jesus did so through human agency. Peter said Jesus preached to spirits in prison (1 Peter 3:19), when, in fact, He did so through Noah. Noah was not Jesus and Jesus was not Noah. If Paul and Noah could be described as functioning in the capacity of Jesus, so judges in Israel could be described as functioning as God.

Jesus’ Point

Jesus marshaled this Old Testament psalm to thwart His opponents’ attack, while simultaneously reaffirming His deity (which, as noted previously, is the central feature of the book of John—20:30-31).

John 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

He made shrewd use of syllogistic argumentation by reasoning a minori ad majus (see Lenski, 1943, pp. 765-770; cf. Fishbane, 1985, p. 420). “Jesus is here arguing like a rabbi from a lesser position to a greater position, a ‘how much more’ argument very popular among the rabbis” (Pack, 1975, 1:178). In fact, “it is an argument which to a Jewish Rabbi would have been entirely convincing. It was just the kind of argument, an argument founded on a word of scripture, which the Rabbis loved to use and found most unanswerable” (Barclay, 1956, 2:90).

Using an argumentum ad hominem (Robertson, 1916, p. 89), Jesus identified the unjust judges of Israel as persons “to whom the word of God came” (John 10:35).

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
John 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
John 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

That is, they had been “appointed judges by Divine commission” (Butler, 1961, p. 127)—by “the command of God; his commission to them to do justice” (Barnes, 1949, p. 294,

emp. in orig.; cf. Jeremiah 1:2; Ezekiel 1:3; Luke 3:2).

Jer. 1:1 ¶ The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
Jer. 1:2 To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

McGarvey summarized the ensuing argument of Jesus: “If it was not blasphemy to call those gods who so remotely represented the Deity, how much less did Christ blaspheme in taking unto himself a title to which he had a better right than they, even in the subordinate sense of being a mere messenger” (n.d., p. 487). Charles Erdman observed:

By his defense Jesus does not renounce his claim to deity; but he argues that if the judges, who represented Jehovah in their appointed office, could be called “gods,” in the Hebrew scriptures, it could not be blasphemy for him, who was the final and complete revelation of God, to call himself “the Son of God” (1922, pp. 95-96, emp. added).

Morris agrees: “If in any sense the Psalm may apply this term to men, then much more may it be applied to Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world” (1971, pp. 527-528, emp. added). Indeed,

John is quoting from the Hebrew where "god" is an elohim and Lord is Jehovah.

John 10:34 Jesus answered them,
        Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
John 10:35 If he called them gods,
        unto whom the word of God came,
        and the scripture cannot be broken;

When He speaks of Jesus God is THEOS and He made Jesus of Nazareth TO BE both Lord (Kurios) and Christ 30 years after He was born IN THE FLESH.

        whom the Father hath sanctified,
        and sent into the world,
        Thou BLASPHEME; because I said,
        I am the Son of God?
John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

He is not God (Theos) but the SON of God. Therefore, in no sense is He God (Theos) or Lord (YHWH).

IN GREEK:      GOD is Theos and LORD Jesus is Kurios

Jesus did not claim to be YHWH but spoke of an ELOHIM which includes human rulers.

This verse brings into stark contrast the deity—the Godhood—of Christ (and His Father Who “sanctified and sent” Him—vs. 36) with the absence of deity for all others.

When the MAN Jesus was thirty years old He was baptized and SANCTIFIED with a "holy spirit" word. Then a voice confessed that this thirty year old MAN was not the "Son of a Father."

G37. hagiazo, hag-ee-ad´-zo; from 40; to make holy, i.e. (ceremonially) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate: — hallow, be holy, sanctify.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
        for the remission of sins,
        and ye shall receive the gift of the HOLY Ghost.

Remission of sins SANCTIFIES or gives one A holy spirit or mind in the same sense that Jesus was SANCTIFIED.

G40. hagios, hag´-ee-os; pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially, consecrated): — (most) holy (one, thing), saint.

Luc. Icar.9 As to Gods, I need hardly deal with that question. For some of them God is a number; some swear by dogs and geese and plane-trees  2. Some again banish all other Gods, and attribute the control of the universe to a single one; I got rather depressed on learning how small the supply of divinity was. But I was comforted by the lavish souls who not only make many, but classify; there was a First God, and second and third classes of divinity. Yet again, some regard the divine nature as unsubstantial and without form, while others conceive it as a substance. Then they were not all disposed to recognize a Providence; some relieve the Gods of all care,

-splendor  , lustre, splendor, honor, dignity, excellence,

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world:
        he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day?

        If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

Jesus verified this very conclusion by directing the attention of His accusers to the “works” that He performed (vss. 37-38). These “works” (i.e., miraculous signs) proved the divine identity of Jesus to the exclusion of all other alleged DEITIES.

John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
        Verily, verily, I say unto you, THE SON can do nothing of himself,
         but what he seeth THE FATHER:
        gor what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
John 5:30 I can of mine own self DO NOTHING :
        as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just;
        because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches:
        He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
2Cor. 13:8 For we can do nothing AGAINST the truth, but for the truth.

“By no means, then, does our Lord imply here that we are sons of God just as He is—except for a lower level of holiness and virtue. No misunderstanding could be more wrongheaded than that” (1982, p. 374).

CONCLUSION

One day all human beings will stand before Jesus Christ and give account of their earthly behavior: “For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written: ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God” (Romans 14:10-11, emp. added).

Rom. 14:9 For to this end Christ both died,
        and rose, and revived, that HE MIGHT BE Lord both of the dead and living.
Rom. 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Rom. 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Rom. 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

. May we emulate the example of Thomas, blending our voices with his, in our mutual affirmation of Jesus: “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28).

John is looking backward several decades and knew the Greek-Jewish synagogues and their teachings that JESUS WAS GOD.  The Jews could not believe that the MAN JESUS was the MESSIAH who cam to shut down their evil empire.  Others wrote correctives about the neo-trinitarians as a Greek belief.

Thomas "missed services" when Jesus said:

John 20:20 And when he had so said,
        he shewed unto them his hands and his side.
        Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD. [Kurios]
John 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again,
        Peace be unto you: as my FATHER hath sent me, even so send I you.

John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him,
        We have seen the Lord. BUT he said unto them,
        Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails,
        and put my finger into the print of the nails,
        and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within,
        and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut,
        and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger,
        and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand,
        and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

JESUS REBUKED THOMAS:

John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:
         blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

That means that Jesus didn't say he was blessed:

John 20:30 And many other signs truly did JESUS in the presence of his disciples,
        which are not written in this book:
John 20:31 BUT these are written,
        that ye might believe that
        Jesus is the Christ,
        the SON OF GOD;
        and that believing ye might have life through his name.
