The Church or Assembly of Christ is
defined by the Greek Ekklesia. This assembly met about
once each week. Phoebe was a member of the Greek Ekklesia..
The people presented NOTHING of their own. They
listened to Laws handed down by a higher authority. They READ
or LISTENED and then discused and put the laws into
effect in places like Cenchrea. The church is also
clearly defined as an assembly for LEARNING. No one
was A TEACHER OVER which would include replacing Scripture
with their own songs and sermons.

The Feminization of Christianity
The Wimber-Fuller

Sara.Barton.The.Song.of.Solomon my pastoral impulse this week
is to proclaim the message of the Song of Songs.
And here’s why: We desperately need public, communal language about
sex, and we have an oft-overlooked resource
in the Bible. I regularly read Song of Songs with
college students in a Bible course I teach. And in
that conversation, I own up to the fact that I like sex,
that twenty-five plus years into marriage, my husband and I
are still into each other, still engage in pillow talk with
each other, and that we are learning with each passing year
how to be more intimate with each other – sexually,
emotionally, and spiritually.
Song of
Songs is unique in several ways, one of which is the fact
that it’s the only place in Scripture where
a woman’s voice leads the conversation (the
woman speaks 61 of 117 verses). In light of what we’ve heard
lately, it seems like a good time to let a wise woman speak
about sexual activity that’s right and good, a woman who not only speaks but sings and
shouts about intimate, sensual, erotic passion. And in all her talk about
kissing, touching, tasting, and smelling, she does not
offend with crass or vulgar language. She exemplifies how
it’s possible to speak about sex and intimacy appropriately.
We might do well to let her teach us a thing or two.
Laura Buffington SEX and
SALVATION: the Song of Solomon or the Hieros
Gamos. With
sex playing such a prominent role in the art and
life of our culture, the church would be wise to
reclaim the metaphor of sex as salvation.
Making
the whole story of our lives about the salvation
found in physical intimacy is to miss the grander
picture of intimate salvation promised to Beloved Humanity by God the Lover.

Both Eve and Miriam are the examples FROM THE LAW
Theophilus
of Autolycus II. XXVIII
And Adam having been cast out of
Paradise, in this condition knew Eve his wife, whom God had
formed into a wife for him out of his rib. And this He did,
not as if He were unable to make his wife separately, but
God foreknew that man would call upon a number of gods. And
having this prescience, and knowing that through the serpent
error would introduce a number of gods which had no
existence,... This Eve, on account of her having
been in the beginning deceived by the serpent, and
become the author of sin, the wicked demon, who also
is called Satan, who then spoke to her through the serpent,
and who works even to this day in those men that are
possessed by him, invokes as Eve.58
And he is called "demon" and "dragon," on account of his [apodedrake/nai]
revolting from God. For at first he was an angel. And
concerning his history there is a great deal to be said;
wherefore I at present omit the relation of it, for I have
also given an account of him in another place.
58 Referring to
the bacchanalian orgies in which " Eva " was
shouted, and which the Fathers professed to believe was
an unintentional invocation of Eve, the
authoress of all sin.
The word "abomination" is also key to understanding the
context. In Hebrew, the word "to 'evah,"
(abomination) is almost invariably linked to idolatry.
In the passages from which both verses are taken, God
tells Moses to tell the people not to follow the
idolatrous practices of the people around them, people
who sacrificed their children to Molech, or who masturbated into the fire to offer
their semen to Molech,
for example. Chapter 20 starts off with the same
warning.
"To 'evah" also means "something which is ritually unclean,"

Plato describes exactly what Verhaeren's admirers
approve: “often in his rhythm can be heard the

hissing of locomotives; often the wild,
restless tumult of the streets, the humming
and rumbling of dense masses of people.”

mimēteon.
See on mimeisthai 395 D. hippous -- brontas. The
reference is probably to stage machinery and musical
effects etc. in dramatic poetry generally, as well as
in the later and degenerate form of the
dithyramb (see on 394 C). Cf. (with Nettleship Lect.
and Rem. II p. 105) Laws 669 C ff. and Ar. Plut.

thunder and lightning were familiar
enough (Müller Gr. Bühnenalt. p. 157 note 2).
It is clear, as Nettleship remarks, that “Plato felt
strongly that Greek literature and music were
declining” in his days: see Laws 659 A ff.,
700 A ff., 797 A ff

This Eve, on account of
her having been in the beginning deceived by the serpent,
and become the author of sin, the wicked demon,
who also is called Satan, who then spoke to her through
the serpent, and who works even to this day in those
men that are possessed by him, invokes as Eve.58
And he is called "demon" and "dragon," on account of his
revolting from God. For at first he was an angel. And
concerning his history there is a great deal to be said;
wherefore I at present omit the relation of it, for I have
also given an account of him in another place.
The word "abomination" is also key to
understanding the context. In Hebrew, the word "to 'evah," (abomination) is almost
invariably linked to idolatry. In the passages from which both verses
are taken, God tells Moses to tell the people not to
follow the idolatrous practices of the people around
them, people who sacrificed their children to Molech,
or who masturbated
into the fire to offer their semen to Molech, for example. Chapter 20
starts off with the same warning.
"To 'evah" also means "something which
is ritually
unclean,"
not something evil in itself, like rape or theft. Eating
pork or having sex during menstruation are ritually
unclean.
ALL of the foundation upon which people are willing to lie,
cheat and steal the churches of the owners is a based on a
COMMON list of passages which mention an INSTRUMENT all of
which God said produces NOISE. Most of this would be
the screeching and screaming in the fashion of modern ROCK
which is the MARK of the always-connection between
performance speaking, self exhibition and strange sexuality
made visible at Mount Sinai.. ALL of the use of
instruments was confined to the God-Abandoned
Civil-Military-Clergy which which WORSHIPPED the starry host
including Apollo or Apollyon the Jews brought with them from
Egypt.
The Serpent in the garden of Eden was the same Babylon
Mother of Harlots in Revelation 17. In Revelation 18
her ministers are "lusted after fruits" (same as Amos 8).
Jesus in His new STATE of 'Holy Spirit' calls the speakers,
singers or instrument players SORCERERS. John affirms
the universal MARK of BURNING when he says
"THEY WILL BE CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAKE
OF FIRE." When God put His Words into the
Mouth [the meaning of SPIRIT] of Isaiah and Ezekiel, Lucifer
(Apollon) is called the singing and harp-playing harlot.

Cantillation signs guide the reader in
applying a chant to Biblical readings. This chant is
technically regarded as a ritualized form of speech
intonation rather than as a musical exercise like the
singing of metrical hymns: for this reason Jews always
speak of saying or reading a passage rather
than of singing it. (In Yiddish
the word is leynen 'read', derived from Latin legere,
giving rise to the Jewish English verb
"to leyn".)
The Philipedium:
In most western European
languages, the word for “read” starts
with the letter “L”. These languages
can be divided into two main groups — those of
Latin origin and those of Germanic origin. In
each of the Latin languages (Italian, Spanish,
French, etc.), the modern word is derived from
legere, the Latin
word for “read”. The Italian word is
still leggere,
essentially unchanged from the Latin. In the
other Romance languages, the “g” sound was
lost, and so we have leer
in Spanish, ler in
Portuguese, and lire in
French
