Gordon Ferguson: First, consider the Old Testament references to the eternal nature of Christ.  Isaiah 9:6-7 alone should establish the point beyond any doubt.

That would be dangerous theology: God through Isaiah said of those who do not SPEAK the Word THERE IS NO LIGHT IN THEM.
That would wish that students NOT be Christians, Disciples meaning students of the Word of Christ.

THEY NAMED Him Jesus or Joshua which is Jehovah-Saves as there are many hyphenated names.

Gordon Ferguson: Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.  He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.

This child who would be born and sit on David’s throne can be no other than Jesus Christ.
         And yet this child who graced Bethlehem’s barn was to be called “Mighty God” and “Everlasting Father.”

This assumes that God is ignorant: He could have said a child will be born and he WILL BE. the Lord (yhwh) the on true God (Elohim]

The Jehovah’s Witnesses dodge on this passage is that Jesus is “mighty” God but not the “almighty”.  However, the same term is applied to Jehovah in Isaiah 10:20-21.

The Jews claimed that Jesus "made himself God" but he responded for then and now:

John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified,  [at baptism]
        and sent into the world,
        Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the SON OF GOD.

A son was born and they named Him Jesus or Joshua which is a hyphenated name Jehovah-Saves.

Matt. 2:2 Saying, Where is he that isborn King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
Matt. 2:3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Matt. 2:4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be BORN.
Matt. 2:5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
Matt. 2:6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda:

Mic. 5:4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the Lord,

Gordon Ferguson: Isaiah 43:10 and 44:6 make it clear that there was no God but Jehovah (“LORD” in NIV).

Is. 43:9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled:

Is. 44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid:
        have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it?
        ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me?

Gordon Ferguson: The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ claim that Jesus is a lesser god is unscriptural polytheism.  A number of passages demonstrate that Jesus is in fact Jehovah.  Some people mistakenly assume that Jehovah is a name applied only to the Father.

1Tim. 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Gordon Ferguson: In Jeremiah 23:5-6, however, the righteous Branch from David’s lineage is called specifically “the LORD (Jehovah) our righteousness.”  Let’s look at that passage in its context:

Jer. 23:1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!
        saith the Lord.
Jer. 23:2 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people;
        Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away,
        and have not visited them: behold,
        I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord.
Jer. 23:3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them,
        and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
Jer. 23:4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them:
        and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord.
Jer. 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch,
        and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Jer. 23:6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely:
        and this is his NAME whereby he shall be called, THE Lord OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

NOT: he will BE THE LORD.
1Cor. 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus,
        who of God is MADE unto us wisdom, and RIGHTEOUSNESS,
        and sanctification, and redemption:

Jer. 23:7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord,
        that they shall no more say, The Lord liveth,
        which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
Jer. 23:8 But, The Lord liveth,
        which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel
        out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them;
        and they shall dwell in their own land.

Isa 11:1 AND there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

Isa 11: 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

Isa 11: 3 And shall make him of quick understanding [spiritual] in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Isa 11: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath [SPIRIT] of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

These are the SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD.

Gordon Ferguson:  “The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will raise up to David a righteous , a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.  In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety.  This is the name by which he will be called:  The LORD Our Righteousness.

Jer. 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Jer. 23:6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE Lord OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

God COULD have said that the Branch will be the LORD or. YHWH.  Jesus will not BE yhwy buut will be NAMED AFTER the Father:

        And if any man sin, we have an advocate  [comforter Paraclete]
        with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1John 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Gordon Ferguson: Consider also the following parallels.  Isaiah 45:18-23 states that unto Jehovah every knee would bow and every tongue swear because he was the only God.  Philippians 2:11 shows that this event refers to Judgment when all confess and bow to Christ.

The terms LORD and GOD are reverssed in Greek!!

Is. 45:17 But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation:
        ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
Is. 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens;
        God HIMSELF that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it,
        he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.

Is. 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right

Is. 45:20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations:
        they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
Is. 45:21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time?
        who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord?  [YHWH]
        and there is no God [ELOHIM] else beside me;
        a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
Is. 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth:
        for I am God, and there is none else.
Is. 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the WORD is gone out of my MOUTH in righteousness,
         and shall not return,   That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

However, Phillipians 2 is a different confession:

Jesus was born 30 years before God called Him, Sanctified and Sent Him.  At the Resurrection GOD made him to be both Lord and Christ.

Phil. 2:6 Who, being in the FORM of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Jesus was born thirty years in the flesh before He was baptized and given the roles of Lord (kurios) and Christ. It is impossible to be baptized if you believe that Jesus was Jehovah:

Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water:
        and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.

Acts 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still:
        and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Gordon Ferguson: A comparison of Joel 2:32 and Romans 10:9-13 shows that calling on the name of Jehovah is equated with confessing Christ and calling on him.

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever
       shall call on the name of the Lord
[yhwh] shall be delivered:
         for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance,
        as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.

Paul quotes from the Hebrew and not of Jesus Who is always a THEOS.

Is. 53:1  Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
John 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled,
        which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report?
         and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Note that
[Theos] in the Hebrew is

Rom. 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
        For Esaias saith, Lord
[Kurios]. , who hath believed our report?
Rom. 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel.

Rom. 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing,
        and hearing by the WORD  of God.

Gordon Ferguson: Since John the Baptist was to prepare the WAY of Jehovah (Isaiah 40:3-5) and he did prepare the way for Jesus (Mark 1:1-7),  Jesus must be Jehovah.

Is. 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,

Is. 40:4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
Is. 40:5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

AGAIN, PAUL IS QUOTING FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT and Lord-God is reversed to Kurios-Theos

Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
Mark 1:2 As it is written in the prophets,
        Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

With the exception of a tiny fraction of "churches"--which I don't know of--the prophesied c. AD 2000 assault against God and Scriipture has replaced the SKHOLE or SYNAGOGUE with "Worship Centers" with -- they think -- are professional grade musical and theatrical performers.  Rubel Shelly along with the locals said it most vocally that the only purpose of "church" is to WORSHIP or a pagan-like "naval" to funnel up PRAISE.

The Assembly (school) of Christ is defined both inclusively by the Prophets.
Jesus called Holy Scripture the PROPHETS and other "prophecies concerning men."
Peter said that these prophecies were made perfect and outlawed private interpretation or further expounding.

Gordon Ferguson: Again, Jehovah is said to have created all things (Isaiah 42:5; 44:24),

Creation in Genesis is called a parable: Moses INVERTED the Sumerian-Babylonian Cosmology and Theology ONLY because the Hebrews rejected Grace at Mount Sinai and rose up in instrumental and sexual PLAY.  Moses wrote to inform the Hebrews that they were slaves saved by grace because they PRACTICED the religion of the "gods" who enslaved mankind in religious rituals.  God answered their prayer and turned them over to worship the starry host.

2Pet. 3:7 But the heavens and the earth,
        which are NOW, by the same WORD are kept in STORE,

But also there are the claims of the NT.  The New Testament contains numerous passages which directly affirm the deity of Christ.  Jesus is called “God” in John 1:1;

NO: The WORD in the same class as LIGHT is Called God.  Jesus SPOKE the Word directly from God so that the WORD was carried about in anyone who speaks the Scriptures.

Matt. 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Matt. 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
Matt. 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:38 ¶ I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Gordon Ferguson: 20:28; Titus 2:13; 2 Peter 1:1 and 1 John. 5:20.

The Jews understood that Christ’s claim to be the Son of God meant that he was equal to God in his nature (John 5:18).

John 5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, b
        ecause he not only had broken the sabbath,
        but said also that God was his Father,
        making himself equal with God.

John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
        The Son can do nothing of himself,
        but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth,
         these also doeth the Son likewise.
John 5:20 For the Father loveth the Son, a
        nd sheweth him all things that himself doeth:
        and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
John 5:21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them;
        even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man,
        but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
John 5:23 That all men should honour the Son,
        even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you,
         He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me,
        hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, T
        he hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

Gordon Ferguson:
They had no doubt that his claims about himself were claims to be God (John 10:33).

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
John 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
John 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not;
        but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world,
        Thou BLASPHEMESTt; because I said, I am the Son of God?
John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

Gordon Ferguson:  Men may be sons of God by adoption, but Jesus was the unique Son by nature (John 3:16, Philippians 2:6).

 John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Rev. 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

3. A model after which any thing is made, a pattern, stamp, last (of a shoemaker),
4. A mould which gives form to something:

It is of course true that certain New Testament passages relegate Jesus to a lesser position than that of the Father (see John 14:28), but this was due to Christ’s temporary fleshly existence.

1Tim. 2:5 For there is ONE GOD
        and one mediator between God and men,
        the MAN Christ Jesus;

Gordon Ferguson: There was a voluntary departure from his pre-flesh glories (Philippians 2:5-8; John 17:5), but his ascension back to heaven changed this temporary humiliation (Ephesians 1:20-21).  This lowered earthly role of Jesus concerned his position, not his person or nature.  A person in a job setting may have a superior position over another person, but that says absolutely nothing about the one in submission being inferior in nature.  The same situation exists in the case of Jesus and his heavenly Father.

We All Return to God:
Eccl. 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Phil. 2:6 Who, being in the FORM of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

A third and final observation about the Deity of Christ involves his reception of worship.  Matthew 4:10 clearly teaches that only God is to be worshipped.

Matt. 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee,
        if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Matt. 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him,
        Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written,
        Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

This was clearly the Earth-Ruler asking Jesus to worship him with the PROMISE of receiving World-authority.

 However, Christ was worshipped by both men (Matthew 8:2;

Jesus as the Christ was the visible and audible of God in a singlar person. He didn't fuss when people honored His clear power.  Jesus had the authority and power to answer people's prayers.

Luke 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee:

John 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him,
        How long dost thou make us to doubt?
        If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not:

There are TWO races under consideration.  Jesus called those OF the World "from beneath" or Tartarus.
The World, Kosmos is the ecumenical or the kingdom of Satan as His demand for worship proved.
The Race of Vipers compose their OWN songs, sermons or books because they cannot read BLACK text on BROWN Paper (2 cor. 3). That very text says that THE LORD IS THE SPIRIT as Jesus said My WORDS are SPIRIT.

        were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the APOSTLES’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

THE EKKLESIA-SYNAGOGUE IS A SCHOOL OF THE WORD AND NOT A LEGALISTIC "WORSHIP" SERVICE WITH SELF-SPEAKERS.

2Pet. 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the WORDS
        which were spoken before by the holy PROPHETS,
         and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

A Church of Christ is a READING assembly as the One-Piece Pattern.

Eph. 2:20 And are built upo [Educated[  n the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
        Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father
        hath sanctified, and sent into the world,
        Thou BLASPHEMEST; because I said, I am the Son of God?
John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me,
        believe the works: that ye may know, and believe,
         that the Father is in me, and I in him.

Therefore, the only possible conclusion is that Jesus is God
        The very foundation of the church is the Deity of Christ (Matthew 16:16-18),

THE FOUNDATION WAS GIVEN BY PETER.

Matt. 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said,
        Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Matt. 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him,
        Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee,
        but my Father which is in heaven.

Paul SILENCES both Male and Female to guarantee that the WORD be taught. Women and strange men then and now believed that their words were. good enough to silence the MOUTH OF THE VICTIM.  As proof that close to none are able to accept God's power in ANOTHER male.

1Tim. 2:5 For there is ONE GOD,
        and one mediator between God and men,
        the MAN Christ Jesus;
Matt. 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said:
        nevertheless I say unto you,
        Hereafter shall ye see the SON OF MAN
        sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Matt. 16:18 And I say also unto thee,
        That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matt. 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven:
        and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven:
        and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

and any teaching that would reject this marvelous truth must be firmly and convincingly resisted by the Book of books.  Christ is indeed eternal, “the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” (Revelation 22:13).

A to Z is not the name of God.

Heb. 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
        who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
        despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God

Jesus was the BEGINNING of the Creation of God: The Beginning was when Jeus was given the THRONE of David to rule the Earth. The End is when death is defeated and Jesus returns His throne to GOD.
