Isaiah 25

Isa 25, Isaiah 25: Isaiah chapter 25: Antichrist as the Abominable Branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low. The Branch is a song to be accompanied with instrumental music. Isaiah speaks of Babylon religion in contrast to a period in spiritual ZION where THE TRUE BRANCH Who will build an ekklesia or synagogue as a SPIRITUAL KINGDOM where our citizenship is in heaven.

Rubel Shelly: Victory Song for the Listening Heart (Isa. 25-27)

Is your heart listening to the victory song? In the dark times, try to hum along -- until you can sing it in perfect pitch and with your joy made complete in Christ.

Thus our series title is "Learning to Hear God's Voice." The oracles of judgment in Isaiah are always tied to hope. And hope permits praise. Then praise puts the worshipers' feet on high ground from which they can envision the deliverance Yahweh provides to those who will, in fact, hear his voice.

There is no better example of this than the victory song of Isaiah 25-27. If you look back to chapter 24, you will find words of judgment against the whole of Planet Earth. Not just Jerusalem.

A second connection to Bacchus the NEW WINESKIN GOD.

The branch and the ZOE connection.

Inherent in the Bible and the subject of many commentaries contemporaneous with the times of the Bible is the belief that Lucifer was Satan who tried to usurp the role of God as Word or Logos. In the Babylonian stories and Gnosticism Sophia is personified as Wisdom. She is identified as the serpent in Genesis and the OPHIS (a code word for sOPHISts) in the book of Revelation. Her daughter, ZOE or Eve or Life, is identified as the BEAST and the female instructing principle. She is the mother-sister of "jehovah" who had to form musical worship teams to get elevated up the heavenly spheres but NOT upt to the supreme god. Their son was the Logos or the Word or Jesus Christ. The BRANCH is another contrast between "singing with instrumental music" and honoring God as His WORD.

By looking at Isaiah 4.2 and then at Isaiah 14:19 the concept of the BRANCH as OPPOSITES is illustrated.

In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. Isaiah 4:2

Jesus or Jehovah- Saves is the true LIGHT in the form of supernatural knowledge. Branch is:

Cemach (h6780) tseh'-makh; from 6779; a sprout (usually concr.), lit. or fig.: - branch, bud, that which (where) grew (upon), spring (- ing).

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. Je.23:5

This is not some future SECULAR or CARNAL kingdom but a spiritual kindom. Zechariah prophesies of the Branch Who is both KING and PRIEST and there will be harmony between "them both." There is one king and one throne but the King is also Priest.

Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. Zech 3:8

And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord: Zec.6:12

The "Spirit" is not a person separated from the Godhead. Rather, the spirit which would rest upon Messiah was truth:

Jesus said that without being born AGAIN of Water and Spirit or Water and the Word you CANNOT, SHALL NOT enter into His kingdom or rule which is the Ekklesia or Christian synagogue or school of the Bible.

The seven "spirits" of Isaiah 11:1-4 which would rest on the BRANCH are all related to forms of spiritual knowledge. Jesus said "My Words are Spirit and Life." Therefore, you might join a venue for Rock and Roll peddled as "worship" but Jesus Christ WILL NOT be your free-of-charge Teacher until He washes your spirit or mind. Only then do you have access to the seven spirits represented by the Menorah or Candlestick which gave LIGHT to the Holy Place along with the table of bread and the incense altar. Each Christian "priest" must look into the Most Holy Place with their own prayers. Then, you can enter into the Most Holy Place to meet God. Jesus said that the ONLY new PLACE is the human spirit as it gives heed to the Spirit of Truth through the Word. Don't believe the lie that "musical teams" lead you into the presence of God: that makes them claim to be God standing in the Holy Place. Not in the vilest pagan temple could singers and musicians enter into the holy precincts on the penalty of death. Don't follow people making "Christianity" viler than paganism. If you are part of the 5 out of 13,000 congregations then you have become a laughing stock just like the musical idolatrs at Mount Sinai which forfeited and continues to forfeit the Covenant of Grace.

AND there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: Isaiah 11:1

This Branch is from:

Nacar (h5341) naw-tsar'; a prim. root; to guard, in a good sense (to protect, maintain, obey, etc.)

or a bad one (to conceal, etc.): - besieged, hidden thing, keep (-er, -ing),

monument, observe, preserve (-r), subtil, watcher (-man).

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; Isaiah 11:2

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: Isaiah 11:3

And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. Luke 7:29

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. Luke 7:30

Satan or Lucifer, the singing and harp-playing prostitue as the king of Tyre, is also the FALSE BRANCH as the LIGHT and the 'female instructing principle.'

Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms [maggots] cover thee. Isaiah 14:11

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! Isaiah 14:12

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: Isaiah 14:13

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:14

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Isaiah 14:15

But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch [striking color], and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet. Isaiah 14:19

The common PRAISE word has this background:

Halal (h1984) haw-lal'; a prim. root; to be clear (orig. of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show, to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causat. to celebrate; also to stultify...

And Lucifer is derived from this maddening form of PRAISE.

Heylel (h1966) hay-lale'; from 1984 (in the sense of brightness); the morning-star: - lucifer.

Ezekiel tells much the same story to show that the BRANCH in Isaiah 25 speaks of musical instruments as the WEAPONS of Lucifer.

Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Eze 28:12

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Eze.28:13

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Eze 28:14

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Eze 28:15

By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Eze.28:16

Cast as profane is very similar to PRAISE and LUCIFER:

Chalal (h2490) khaw-lal'; a prim. root [comp. 2470]; prop. to bore, i. e. (by impl.) to wound, to dissolve; fig. to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one's word), to begin (as if by an "opening wedge"); denom. (from 2485) to play (the flute): - begin (* men began), defile, * break, defile, * eat (as common things), * first, * gather the grape thereof, * take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound.

The song to be accompanied with instrumental music

Isa 25:1 O Lord (Jehovah), thou art my God (Elohim); I will exalt thee,

I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things (miracles);
thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

Praising God is not crying "praise the Lord" or "Lord, Lord" but of telling what God has done which is praiseworthy.

Yadah (3034) yaw-daw'; a prim. root; used only as denom. from 3027; lit. to use (i. e. hold out) the hand; phys. to throw (a stone, an arrow) at or away; espec. to revere or worship (with extended hands); intens. to bemoan (by wringing the hands): - cast (out), (make) confess (- ion), praise, shoot, (give) thank (-ful, -s, -sgiving).

Isa 25:2 For thou hast made of a city an heap;

of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city;
it shall never be built.

Isa 25:3 Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee.

Isa 25:4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast [spirit] of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Ps.18:2

Qeren (h7161) keh'-ren; from 7160; a horn (as projecting); by impl. a flask, cornet; by resembl. an elephant's tooth (i. e. ivory), a corner (of the altar), a peak (of a mountain), a ray (of light); fig. power: - * hill, horn.

Qeren (h7162) keh'-ren; corresp. to 7161; a horn (lit. or for sound): - horn, cornet.

That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: Da.3:5

The HORNS of the beast in revelation speak of power but they also speak of the bow and other musical instruments:

Keras (2768) ker'-as; from a prim. 2595, (the hair of the head); a horn (lit. or fig.): - horn.

Notice that the HORN is used in making a two-piece bow joined in the middle. It is also the name of musical instruments. Look at psallo and the meaning of sending a shaft from the bow: this is NOT a musical term:

Psallô (psao)

I. to touch sharply, to pluck, pull, twitch, Aesch.; toxou neuran ps. to twang the bow-string, Eur.; belos ek keraos ps. to send a shaft twanging from the bow

Psôô , rub, grind, etc., only found in Gramm., as etym. of psôchô, psôchos, psômos, psôra, etc.

Keras 1. bow, toxon 2. of musical instruments, horn for blowing, sêmênai tôi kerati also, the Phrygian flute, because it was tipped with horn

P. Vergilius Maro, Aeneid

She said, and from her quiver chose with speed
The
winged shaft, predestin'd for the deed;
Then to the stubborn
yew her strength applied,
Till the
far distant horns approach'd on either side.

The bowstring touch'd her breast, so strong she drew;
Whizzing in air the fatal arrow flew.

At once the twanging bow and sounding dart
The traitor heard, and felt the point within his heart.
Him,
beating with his heels in pangs of death,
His
flying friends to foreign fields bequeath.

The conqu'ring damsel, with expanded wings,
The welcome message to her mistress brings.
Their leader lost, the Volscians quit the field,
And, unsustain'd, the chiefs of Turnus yield.

Shaown (h7588) shaw-one'; from 7582; uproar (as of rushing); by impl. destruction: - * horrible, noise, pomp, rushing, tumult (* -uous).

Branch A symbol of kings descended from royal ancestors (Eze 17:3, Eze 17:10; Dan 11:7); of prosperity (Job 8:16); of the Messiah, a branch out of the root of the stem of Jesse (Isa 11:1), the "beautiful branch" (Isa 4:2), a "righteous branch" (Jer 23:5), "the Branch" (Zac 3:8; Zac 6:12). Disciples are branches of the true vine (Joh 15:5, Joh 15:6). "The branch of the terrible ones" (Isa 25:5) is rightly translated in the Revised Version "the song of the terrible ones," i.e., the song of victory shall be brought low by the destruction of Babylon and the return of the Jews from captivity. The "abominable branch" is a tree on which a malefactor has been hanged (Isa 14:19). The "highest branch" in Eze 17:3 represents Jehoiakim the king. [Easton's Bible Dictionary]

See the prophecy in Psalm 22 and in Psalm 41 and in the Dead See Scroll version

Matthew Henry: The kind reception of repentant sinners, is often in the New Testament likened to a feast. The guests invited are all people, Gentiles as well as Jews. There is that in the gospel which strengthens and makes glad the heart, and is fit for those who are under convictions of sin, and mourning for it. There is a veil spread over all nations, for all sat in darkness. But this veil the Lord will destroy, by the light of his gospel shining in the world, and the power of his Spirit opening men's eyes to receive it. He will raise those to spiritual life who were long dead in trespasses and sins. Christ will himself, in his resurrection, triumph over death. Grief shall be banished; there shall be perfect and endless joy. Those that mourn for sin shall be comforted. Those who suffer for Christ shall have consolations. But in the joys of heaven, and not short of them, will fully be brought to pass this saying, God shall wipe away all tears.

Isa 25:6 And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

See Rubel Shelly and the MARK of the new wineskin

And on the Wedding at Cana where Jesus became the "lil ole winemaker."

And the Wineskin Dogma

Isa 25:7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

In the New Testament, Paul speaks of Israel being blinded by a veil: But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart (2 Corinthians 3:15). In Isaiah's day, it was more apparent that the nations were veiled. In Paul's day, it was more apparent that Israel was veiled. But for both the nations and for Israel, the remedy is the same: Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away (2 Corinthians 3:16).

Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

The last days did not culminate in a secular or earthly kingdom. In fact, the eartly kingdoms will be destroyed. Jerusalem is especially identified as SODOM. Therefor, the beginning happens when we are baptized into Christ and have our citizenship translated into heaven where there will be no spiritual death.

Paul uses this passage to speak of the literal resurrection of the body. But again, this is not a resurrection to our present world order.

So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption: 1 Cor 15:42

It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 1 Cor 15:43

It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 1 Cor 15:44

This does not fit us to dwell in a literal Jerusalem but in the heavenly Zion.

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 1 Cor 15:56

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:57

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, alway abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Cor 15:58

Isa 25:9 And it shall be said in that day,

Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him,

and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

And the Lord their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land. Zec.9:16

The BRANCH will be Jehovah- Saves or Joshua or Jesus. HE will sit on ONE THRONE as both king and priest and their will be harmony between them Both.

Isa 25:10 For in this mountain shall the hand of the Lord rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.

Isa 25:11 And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.

Bring down is:

Bring is:

Shachach (h7817) shaw-khakh'; a prim. root; to sink or depress (reflex. or caus.): - bend, bow (down), bring (cast) down, couch, humble self, be (bring) low, stoop.

And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: Is.5:15

In his sermon on Isaiah 25 Rubel Shelly speaks of the KINGDOM as something yet to be set up. If we go on into Isaiah 26 the walls are--

Not a literal kingdom with walls:

IN that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah;

We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Isaiah26:1

Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Isaiah 26:2

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3

Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: Isaiah 26:4

For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust. Isaiah 26:5

Essentially, the "gospel" in the NT is the good news that the kingdom of God has come in Jesus (Matt. 4:23, 9:35, Mark 1:14, Luke 4:43, Acts 20:24f).3 "Kingdom" is (1) God's sovereign power, (2) his sovereign authority, and (3) his coming into history to defeat Satan and bring about salvation with all its consequences.4 God's kingdom power includes all his mighty acts in history, especially including the Resurrection of Christ.

God's kingdom authority is the reiteration of his commandments. When the kingdom appears in power, it is time for people to repent. They must obey (hupakouo) the gospel (2 Thess. 1:8, compare apeitheo in 1 Pet. 4:17). The gospel itself requires a certain kind of conduct (Acts 14:15, Gal. 2:14, Phil. 1:27; cf. Rom 2:16).

When God comes into history, he brings his power and authority to bear on his creatures. In kingdom power, he establishes peace. So NT writers frequently refer to the "gospel of peace" (Eph. 6:15; cf. Acts 10:36, Rom. 10:15), sometimes referring to the "mystery" of God bringing Gentiles and Jews together in one body (Rom. 16:25, Eph. 6:19).

It is this whole complex: God's power to save, the reiteration of God's commands, and his coming into history to execute his plan, that is the gospel. It is good news to know that God is bringing his good plans to fruition.

Consider Isa. 52:7, one of the most important background passages for the New Testament concept of gospel:

How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,
Who publishes salvation,
Who says to Zion, "Your God reigns." (ESV)

It is the reign of God that is good news, news that ensures peace and salvation. Even the demand for repentance is good news, because in context it implies that God, though coming in power to claim his rights, is willing to forgive for Christ's sake.

If Jesus was the wine manufacturer then the imagry is of blinding those who will not hear His Words:

And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? Mt.13:10

He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. Mt 13:11

For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Matt 13:12

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Mt.13:13

Jesus never spoke to the multitudes without using a parable. The story of the wedding is that of a fairly large group and the host has not supplied himself with wine or "oil" for his lamp.

See the Odes of Solomon

And I saw the destroyer of destruction, when the bride who is corrupted is adorned: and the

bridegroom who corrupts and is corrupted.

And I asked the Truth, 'Who are these?'; and He said to me,

'This is the deceiver and the error; odes, Ode 38:9-10
and they are alike in the
beloved and in his bride:
and
they lead astray and corrupt the whole world: odes, Ode 38:11
> and they invite many to the banquet, and
> give them to drink of the wine of their intoxication,
> and remove their wisdom and knowledge, and so
> they make them without intelligence" odes, Ode 38:12-13

See Isaiah 5

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: Amos 8:9

And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day. Amos 8:10

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: Amos 8:11

And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. Amos 8:12
