The Holy Spirit Work Conversion

Jack Cottrell: "Traditional, orthodox Christian faith says Jesus Christ is not only equal with the Father; he is also distinct from the Father in that he is a separate, distinct person, i.e., a separate center of consciousness with his own distinct thoughts, emotions, and actions. This point seems more than obvious to most Christians; but occasionally, in a misguided effort to explain the Trinity, some have embraced a seriously false view called modalism."

There is One God the Father: theologians insult Him by denying that He can Think, breath. and articulate His own words without another "god" to make Him intelligible.

Jesus made visible the father, spirit (mother) and infant son in all pagan trinities.

No one before one wing of the Restoration Movement ever said that the ONE God who claimed to be alone is really three persons who are one in that they are united.  John and others wrote after the Synagogue of Satan claimed that Jesus was THE GOD.

IGNORANT OF SCRIPTURE AND HISTORY

1Tim. 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

1Tim. 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1Tim. 2:5 For there is one God,
        and one mediator between God and men,
        the man Christ Jesus;

1Tim. 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

1Tim. 2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle,
        (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;)
        a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

Theophilus To Autolycus

Chapter X.-The World Created by God Through the Word.

And first, they taught us with one consent
        that God made all things out of nothing;
        for nothing was coeval with God:
        but He being His own place,
        and wanting nothing,
        and existing before the ages,
        willed to make man by whom He might be known; for him,
        therefore, He prepared the world.
For he that is created is also needy;
        but he that is uncreated stands in need of nothing.
        God, then, having His own WORD INTERNAL18 within His own bowels,
        begat Him, EMMITING Him along with His own WISDOM before all things.

HE had this WORD as a HELPER  in the things that were created by Him,
        and by Him He made all things.
        He is called "governing principle" [a0rkh/], because He rules,
        and is Lord of all things fashioned by Him.

HE, then, being Spirit of God, and GOVERNING principle, and WISDOM, and POWER of the highest,
        came down upon the prophets,
        and through them spoke of the creation of the world and of all other things.
For the prophets were not when the world came into existence,
        but the WISDOM of God which was IN HIM
        and His HOLY WORD which was always present with Him.

Wherefore He speaks thus by the prophet Solomon:
        "When He prepared the heavens I  [WISDOM] was there,
        and when He appointed the foundations of the earth
        was by Him as one brought up with Him."20

BLASPHEMY

2. The Jews claimed.

John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not;
        but for Blasphemy;
        and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

3. Jesus called those who accused Him with blasphemy, BLASPHEMERS.

John 10:36 Say ye of him,
        WHOM
        the
        Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world,
Thou BLASPHPHEMEST
  because I said, I am the SON OF GOD

ANTICHRIST

The WORD which is God's Regulative Principle outlawing all performers CAME IN THE FLESH.
Trinitarians say that JESUS CAME IN THE FLESH

Leonard Allen: WE can say that there was a doube sending--two missions the mission of the Spirit AND the mission of the Son. [ p 107]

The very truth about Christ--that he is God IN THE FLESH , Son Saviour, and Messiah--becomes INTELLIGIBLE through the deep work of the Spirit.

God Put's His Words into the MOUTH of Prophets and Jesus. "Spirit" is a parable giving a rough idea of How God does not use a mediator to speak to prophets or Jesus.  Jesus articulated the WORD of God which IS Spirit and Life.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth;
        the flesh profiteth nothing:
        the WORDS that I SPEAK unto you, they are SPIRIT, and they are LIFE.

The Trinity teaching which denies the power of Father and Son came in these LAST DAYS in the American Restoration Movement.

1John 2:18  Little children, it is the last time:
        and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come,
        even now are there many antichrists;
        whereby we know that it is the last time.
1John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ?
        He is antichrist, that denieth the Father AND the Son.
1John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not
        that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
        is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist,
        whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2John 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world,
        who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.
        This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

THERE IS NEVER A SPIRIT MEDIATOR WHEN GOD INTELLIGIBLY PUTS HIS WORDS INTO A PERSON'S MOUTH.

Ezra 1:1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia,
        that the word of the Lord by the MOUTH of Jeremiah might be fulfilled,
        the Lord stirred up the SPIRIT of Cyrus king of Persia,
        that he made a PROCLAMATION throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
Neh. 9:20 Thou gavest also thy good
SPIRIT to INSTRUCT them,
        and withheldest not thy manna from their
MOUTH, and gavest them water for their thirst.
Job 7:11 Therefore I will not refrain my
MOUTH;
        I will SPEAK in the anguish of my
SPIRIT;
        I will COMPLAIN in the bitterness of my SOUL.
Job 15:13 That thou turnest thy
SPIRIT against God,
        and lettest such WORDS go out of thy
MOUTH?
Is. 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read:
        no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate:
        for my
MOUTH it hath commanded,
        and his
SPIRIT it hath gathered them.
Is. 59:21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord;
        My
SPIRIT that is upon thee,
        and my WORDS which I have put in thy
MOUTH,
        shall not depart out of thy
MOUTH,
        nor out of the
MOUTH of thy seed,
        nor out of the
MOUTH of thy seed’s seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.

God put the WORDS of the PROPHETS into the MOUTH of Jesus who made the prophecies more certain.  A Church of Christ is built upon the Prophets and Apostles and no disciple nor spirit added to that Word.

2Th. 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed,
        whom the Lord shall consume with the SPIRIT of his MOUTH,
        and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Rev. 16:13 And I saw three unclean
MOUTHS like frogs
        come out of the
MOUTH of the dragon,
        and out of the
MOUTH of the beast,
        and out of the
MOUTH of the false prophet.

See Jack Cottrell on Silence as a Means of PERMISSION for instrumental music. Repudiates non-instrumental churches who know better than to say that the Bible is silent about musical instruments as always the MARK of saying to Jesus "We will not speak or listen to YOUR words."

See our review of Jack Cottrell (etal) claim that the Holy Spirit is a separate Person.

See our quick review of John 16 to show that the SPIRIT REPROVES specificially marks those who claim that God commanded INSTRUMENTAL PRAISE when all of the Bible says that beginning with the synagogue in the wilderness He EXCLUDED IT.  The Law is only for the lawless because Godly people do not make musical noise always identified as the favorite weapon of Satan and Sorcerers when Jesus Christ invites us to REST from them and "learn of Me." That invitation is to the twos and threes.

Professor of Theology. Quoted by a Fan of the NACC: Many of you might not see why the NACC is so important to me. I love the message of the Christian Church: unity. We need more movements and churches that are focused on unity...not universalism, but unity in our belief in Jesus Christ, the inspired Word, Trinity, salvation by grace alone through faith alone, etc. I really believe that Satan wants us to have many churches that aren't united, because then we're no threat to his plan. However, we are most powerful when we are united together. That is my reason for being excited about the Christian Church. I'm proud to be part of such a movement
Truth: the Classical Trinitarians, based on the Bible, spoke of Father, Son and Spirit. Jesus of Nazareth was the Seed of Eve, the promised Seed of Abraham and preserved as the predestinated Saviour.  He was born of a virgin as "a body prepared for me." Jesus of Nazareth is called Jesus Christ or Christ Jesus after the Incarnation where He laid aside His Majesty and Glory and took on the form of a slave to die like a criminal.  That which existed from Eternity was the One God, His Word and His Wisdom (Spirit).  However the Spirit OF a person is not another person.
Is. 59:15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey:
        and THE LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
Is. 59:16 And he saw that there was no man,
        and wondered that there was no intercessor:
        therefore
his arm brought salvation unto him;
        and his righteousness, it sustained him.
Is. 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.
Now, the Holy Spirit is called the Finger of God but then Jesus warned about parables. Contrary to the sacrificial system being a patternism for congregational worship, Christ in Spirit repudiated it speaking only through the prophets:
Heb. 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Heb. 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world,
        he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not,
        but a body hast thou prepared me:
Heb. 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Heb. 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,)
        to do thy will, O God.
Heb. 10:8 Above when he said,
        Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not,
        neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

Heb. 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever,
        sat down on the
right hand of God;
Heb. 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Heb. 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Heb. 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us:
        for after that he had said before,

Who was ths Spirit?

1Pet. 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently,
        who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
1Pet. 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time
        the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
        when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

Rev. 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Paul looking backward to the incarnation wrote:
Phil 2:5LIV Your attitude [mind] should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ,
Phil 2:6 who, though he was God, did not demand and cling to his rights as God,
Phil 2:7 but laid aside his mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men.
Phil 2:8
And he humbled himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal's death on a cross.
When Christ Who dwelled in Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus was elevated to continue to be our ONE and only mediator or intercessor.
Heb. 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum:
        We have such an high priest,
        who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
Heb. 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle,
        which the Lord pitched, and not man.
Heb. 8:3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
Heb. 8:4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
Heb. 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
Heb. 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

An interesting tid bit perhaps part of the SIGN OF JONAH?

2 Chr 35:22 But Josiah refused to turn back. Instead he led his army into the battle at the valley of Megiddo. (He laid aside his royal robes so that the enemy wouldn't recognize him.) Josiah refused to believe that Neco's message was from God.

Jona.3:6 For when the king of Nineveh heard what Jonah was saying,
.......... he stepped down from his throne,
.......... laid aside his royal robes,
.......... put on sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

Don't be fooled Jesus Christ is sill the name (singular) of his message on earth as Father, Son and Spirit.

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you
.......... through philosophy and vain deceit,
.......... after the tradition of men,
.......... after the rudiments of the world,
.......... and not after Christ.

THERE ARE ONLY TWO "ACTORS"
1Cor. 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
1Cor. 8:5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth,
        (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
But to us there is but one God, the Father,
            of whom are all things, and we in him;
and one Lord Jesus Christ,
        by whom are all things, and we by him 1Cor. 8:6

In Augustine's Faith and Creed, like the revised Nicene Creed reads:
    1. I Believe in God the Father Almighty. Chs. 2 and 3.
    2. (And) In Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
            the Only-Begotten of the Father,
            or, His Only Son, Our Lord. Ch. 3.
    3. Who Was Born Through the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary. Ch. 4 (§ 8.)

    4. Who Under Pontius Pilate Was Crucified and Buried. Ch. 5 (§ 11.)
    5. On the Third Day He Rose Again from the Dead. Ch. 5 (§ 12.)
    6. He Ascended into Heaven. Ch. 6 (§ 13.)
    7. He Sitteth at the Right Hand of the Father. Ch. 7 (§ 14.)
    8. From Thence He Will Come and Judge the Living and the Dead. Ch. 8 (§ 15.)
    * 9. (and I Believe) in the Holy Spirit. Ch. 9 (§ 16-19.)
    10. I Believe the Holy Church (Catholic). Ch. 10 (§ 21.)
    11. The Forgiveness of Sin. Ch. 10 (§ 23.)
    12. The Resurrection of the Body. Ch. 10 (§ 23, 24.)
    13. The Life Everlasting. Ch. 10 (§ 24.)]
* In Faith and Creed, Augustine notes the passages which connect the Father to the Son but do not have the Spirit in a love triangle. Therefore, the supposition is that the Spirit is that which binds the Father God to the Son Lord.  First, note that no man can receive the testimony of God directly without the SEE and HEAR experience.
"Some, however, have gone so far as to believe that the communion of the Father and the Son, and (so to speak) their Godhead (deitatem), which the Greeks designate qeotha, is the Holy Spirit; so that, inasmuch as the Father is God and the Son God, the Godhead itself"
John 3:32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth;
        and no man receiveth his testimony.
John 3:33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
John 3:34 For he whom God hath sent
        speaketh the words of God:
        for God giveth not the Spirit by measure
        unto him. (the one man Jesus Christ)
John 3:35 The
        Father loveth the Son,
        and hath given all things
        into his hand

When God sends His Spirit (Breath literally) the results are articulated words.
Jesus of Nazareth, born of a virgin sits at the Right of the one God the Father Almighty.

JESUS SAID THAT HE WAS THE FATHER, SON AND SPIRIT WHICH THE ZEUS-DIONYSUS MANY JEWS WORSHIPPED IN THREE, SEPARATED PERSONS.

John Mark Hicks tries to fit the saddle of trinitarianism (polytheism) onto Alexander Campbell. Therefore, the views of Jack Cottrell may represent this same scholarly thread view of history.  The danger of depending on previous books is that you are too far removed from the original sources.

There is no historic scholar who ever thought that Father, Son and Spirit spoke of three PERSONS in the Jack Cottrell and John Mark Hicks.

No one who has read the "orthodox" writers and first users of the word "trias" would ever call God a "person" nor teach that this.  The trias concept has to do with Father, Son and Spirit all of whom were imaged by the ONE Jesus as "a body prepared for me."
"There is much gnostic Marcionism in them, that is, a dualistic blasphemy of the Creator God. They put the Savior God in such opposition to the Creator God that, although they never fall into any real heresy, they implicitly blaspheme the divine creation by identifying it with the sinful state of reality.

Against this tendency Irenaeus said that
God is one; there is no duality in him
        Law and gospel,
        creation and
        salvation,
            are derived from the same God."
            (Tillich, Paul, A History of Christian Thought, p. 42)

"This God is never called a person. The word person was never applied to God in the Middle ages. The reason for this is that the three members of the trinity were called personae (faces or countenances): The Father is persona, the Son is persona, and the Spirit is persona. Persona here means a special characteristic of the divine ground, expressing itself in an independent hypostasis.

"Thus, we can say that it was the nineteenth century which made God into a person, with the result that the greatness of the classical idea of God was destroyed by this way of speaking... but to speak of God as a person would have been heretical for the Middle Ages; it would have been to them a Unitarian heresy, because it would have conflicted with the statement that God has three personae, three expressions of his being. (Tillich, Paul, A History of Christian Thought, p. 190)

Of course, the obvious Biblical view is that Jesus claimed ALL of the roles of father, son and spirit. This was His obvious way to repudiate the always-pagan familes of gods.  In Jerusalem they would be aware of Zeus and Dionysus and Philip rationally wanted to SEE the Father.  Jesus said thaf if you have seen me you have SEEN the father.  Stephen warned about the numerous "gods" of the Israelites worshipped in Egypt and never changed:
Acts 7:41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol,
        and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.  Musical Idolatry
Acts 7:42 Then God turned,

and gave them up to worship the host of heaven;
        as it is written in the book of the prophets,
        O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices
        by the space of forty years in the wilderness? [No, they were not commanded]
Acts 7:43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch,
        and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them:
        and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
The claim of "a" spirit guiding some preachers may be too much to bear: when they claim that a spirit speaks to them they "hear" the command to fall back into the musical idolatry for which God abandoned Israel.

That being true, when the NACC tries to force people to use instruments on the basis of the "worship of the starry host" they are in serious danger.

Theosophy is a collection of ancient writings and are not to be discounted any more than a modern for-sale book. PAGAN ROOTS: THE TRINITY

Babylonia happened to be situated on the way of the great stream of the earliest Hindu emigration, and the Babylonians were one of the first peoples benefited thereby. These Khaldi were the worshippers of the Moon-god, Deus Lunus, from which fact we may infer that the Akkadians -- if such must be their name -- belonged to the race of the Kings of the Moon, whom tradition shows as having reigned in Pruyay -- now Allahabad. With them the trinity of Deus Lunus was manifested in the three lunar phases, completing the quaternary with the fourth, and typifying the death of the Moon-god in its gradual waning and final disappearance. This death was allegorized by them, and attributed to the triumph of the genius of evil over the light-giving deity; as the later nations allegorized the death of their Sun-gods, Osiris and Apollo, at the hands of Typhon and the great Dragon Python, when the sun entered the winter solstice. Babel, Arach, and Akkad are names of the sun. The Zoroastrian Oracles are full and explicit upon the subject of the Divine Triad. "A triad of Deity shines forth throughout the whole world, of which a Monad is the head," admits the Reverend Dr. Maurice.

"For from this Triad, in the bosoms, are all things governed," says a Chaldean oracle.  The Phos, Pur, and Phlox, of Sanchoniathon, are Light, Fire, and Flame, three manifestations of the Sun who is one.

Bel-Saturn, Jupiter-Bel, and Bel or Baal-Chom are the Chaldean trinity; "The Babylonian Bel was regarded in the Triune aspect of Belitan, Zeus-Belus (the mediator) and Baal-Chom who is Apollo Chomæus.

In the Book of Hermes, "Pimander" is enunciated in distinct and unequivocal sentences, the whole trinitarian dogma accepted by the Christians. "The light is me," says Pimander, the DIVINE THOUGHT. "I am the nous or intelligence, and I am thy god, and I am far older than the human principle which escapes from the shadow.

I am the germ of thought, the resplendent WORD, the son of God. Think that what thus sees and hears in thee, is the Verbum of the Master, it is the Thought, which is God the Father.... The celestial ocean, the ÆTHER, which flows from east to west, is the Breath of the Father, the life-giving Principle, the HOLY GHOST!" "For they are not at all separated and their union is LIFE."
While Augustine labored greatly to look at the "trinity" he defined it in virtually the same words as just quoted. So do all of the "fathers" of the concept which should always be trusted rather than a series of quotes.  Augustine, A Tretis on Faith and Creed
3. As we believe, therefore, in God the Father Almighty, we ought to uphold the opinion that there is no creature which has not been created by the Almighty.
And since He created all things by the Word, which Word is also designated the Truth, and the Power, and the Wisdom of God,-as also under many other appellations the Lord Jesus Christ, who is commended to our faith, is presented likewise to our mental apprehensions, to wit, our Deliverer and Ruler, the Son of God;
for that Word, by whose means all things were founded, could not have been begotten by any other than by Him who founded all things by His instrumentality;-
As there is ONE God the Father, when He "thinks" that is Wisdom His "daughter." When He "breaths out" that is His Spirit and when the breath is articulated, that is His Son.  Augustine goes on following John 14 to say that "water" begins at the Source, flows to the Fountain and is consumed by us: it is the same "water" nevertheless.
4. Now there is a very great difference between our mind and those words of ours, by which we endeavor to set forth the said mind. We indeed do not beget intelligible words, but we form them; and in the forming of them the body is the underlying material. Between mind and body, however, there is the greatest difference.

But God, when He begot the Word, begot that which He is Himself. Neither out of nothing, nor of any material already made and founded did He then beget; but He begot of Himself that which He is Himself.
The Holy Spirit does not look like a dove or flutter like a dove: the wind does.  All of the written and visual parables of Jesus was to PREVENT the Jewish clergy from understanding anything about the gospel. The Dove teaches that God's messenger is the SON of a FATHER to refute the notion that the messenger was a DAUGHTER of the MOTHER.

This is the fad of the moment:

Power From On High: What the Bible Says About the Holy Spirit (What the Bible Says)

This is the fad of the moment:

Here is the only view of "trias" invented to prove that the SON of the Father is His WORD as in spoken or written words.
Ps. 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all HIS works are done in truth.
Psa. 33:5 He loveth righteousness and judgment:

        let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Psa. 33:9 For HIS spake, and it was done HIS commanded, and it stood fast.
Psa. 33:10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought:

BEFORE CONVERSION Jack Cottrell says that the Spirit's work is causing faith and repentance to be created.  He notes that the word "elencho" means that the Holy Spirit causes us to feel guilt for the purpose of correcting our behavior.  When this is the meaning the "rebuk" is carried out by faithful believers.

We don't invent "Spiritualsongs."

The Apostles had the Mind of Christ guiding them:

1 Cor 2.[14] Now the natural man doesn't receive the things of God's Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can't know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world,
        and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light,
        neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
John 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light,
        that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
We will show that the Spirit Whose Name is Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man.  The overwhelming role of the Spirit was prophesied to be a SPIRIT OF FIRE and a SPIRIT OF JUDGMENT. The Viper race were promised the baptism of Spirit (wind) and Fire where the chaff will be separated from the wheat to be burned up.  The MARKS in Sights and Sounds of God separating His enemies is that of wind, string and percussion instruments. See Isaiah 30.

This is confirmed for the end time when the speakers, singers and instrument players performing as sorcerersi, in fact just as at Mount Sinai, causes Christ to return for His lamps.  The spirit which causes musical madness when God demands reverence and godly fear does not believe that God is a consuming fire.

FIRST, look at what Jesus Christ who IS The Holy Spirit said.
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
His name will not be The Holy Spirit but:

1John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
If you deny that Jesus as the Christ made known father, son and spirit in one person, John calls you anti-Christ.  The Spirit OF Christ is Chris'ts own spirit or mind.

John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness,
        and of judgment:

John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
John 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
John 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

JESUS DOES NOT WISH TO CONVERT THE WORLD BUT TO CERTIFY ITS DOOM

The prince of the KOSMOS is:
G758 archōn ar'-khone Present participle of G757 ; a first (in rank or power):—chief (ruler), magistrate, prince, ruler.
The Kosmos:
G2889 kosmos kos'-mos Probably from the base of G2865 ; orderly arrangement, that is, decoration; by implication the world (in a wide or narrow sense, including its inhabitants, literally or figuratively [morally]):—adorning, world.
This word was invented by Phythagoras who is the FATHER of all of the connections between MUSIC and the worship of the starry host. Remember, that it was because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai which caused God to turn the nation over to worship the starry host. All who use music in connection with worship are confessed to be following the pattern of the Levites--an old baby burning cult in Egypt--as they perform exorcism with animal sacrifices. Christ in the prophets denies that they were commanded.
Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast HID these things from the WISE and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

GOD HAS HIDDEN HIMSELF FROM THE WISE: "DOCTORS OF THE LAW TAKE AWAY THE KEY TO KNOWLEDGE."

Who can deny that while you are giving heed (that worship word) to the music, musician and rhetorician you ARE IMMUNE from the Words of Christ directly commanded as the sole resource?

[7] For the Parthians do not incite themselves to battle with horns or trumpets, but they have hollow drums of distended hide, covered with bronze bells, and on these they beat all at once in many quarters, and the instruments give forth a low and dismal tone, a blend of wild beast's roar and harsh thunder peal.
        They had rightly judged that, of all the senses,
        hearing is the one most apt to confound the soul,
        soonest rouses its emotions,
        and most effectively unseats the judgment.

GOD HAS HIDDEN HIMSELF FROM THE KOSMOS CONNECTING STAR WORSHIP TO MUSIC:
John 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me
        out of the
WORLD thine they were, and thou gavest them me;
        and they have kept thy word
.
John 17:9 I pray for them: I PRAY NOT FOR THE WORLD (Kosmos, Sophists, performing artists)
        but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world,
        and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name
       those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost,
        but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

John 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world,
        that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

John 17:14 I have given them thy word;
        and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world,
        even as I am not of the world.
John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world,
        but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
John 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

The Spirit is not a third member of a god family:

John 14:17 Even the Spirit OF truth; whom the WORLD cannot receive,
        because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him:
        but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The MARK: those NOT of the world will be found OUTSIDE of the camp (barracks, marketplace) suffering reproaches to accept the invitation to REST and "come learn of men."  The Spirit says that doctors of the law take away the key to knowledge.

THE NAME OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS JESUS CHRIST: HE STILL RULES IN THE EKKLESIA-SYNAGOGUE

That happens only were elders as the sole pastor-teachers are humble enough to continue to teach that which has been taught: cramming thousands of proof texts into a teaching session is OF THE WORLD.  That continues to be a FLESH DOMAIN without Christ the Holy Spirit continued to teach through "that which is written."

THE WORLD
 Kosmos IV. Philos., world-order, universe, first in Pythag.,

The Son of Perdition used Judas the Sicarri or Assassin.

The Kosmakrator is the ruler of the world. Judas was of that Evil one and his Judas bag was for "carrying the mouth pieces of wind instruments." It is made up of two words meaning:

   Speaking in tongues which Paul compared to lifeless instruments which are carnal weapons, and
     Of the Kosmos
or the "adorning of the world."

Now Iamblichus (De Mysteries, III.ix) goes into the matter of the so-called Corybantic and Bacchic 'frenzies' produced by musical instruments in the Mysteries of Ceres and Bacchus; and in his Life of Pythagoras (xxv) he, further, tells us that:

"Farther still, the whole Pythagoric school produced by certain appropriate songs, what they called exartysis, or adaptation; synarmoge, or elegance of manners; and epaphe, or contact, usefully conducting the dispositions of the soul to passions contrary to those which it before possessed.

"The Orphic creeds werse the basis of the Pythagorean brotherhood, which flourished in southern Italy beginning in the 6th century BC. The Pythagoreans were aristocratic fraternities that sometimes had a political scope. Their main achievements, however, lay in the fields of music, geometry, and astronomy. They discovered that these subjects could be explained by numbers and ratios. Combining Orphic eschatology (the study of the last things, especially death and afterlife) with their discoveries,
In Romans 14, Paul outlawed the "doubtful disputations" of the sects in the marketplace identified by their diet: these were the Orphics, Phythagoreans and Dionysics: all were marked by music which is defined as enchantment or sorcery.
Tom Burgess Uses Moralia as proof text for using instruments in worship. All of the PLUCKING the harp history points to older males trying to seduce younger males.
Greeks considered madness an important aspect of worship.  Women in particular responded to Bacchus (also known as Dionysus), the god of madness; 'him of the orgiastic cry, exciter of women, Dionysus, glorified with mad honors'.  (Plutarch, Moralia 671c  Ancient Corinth was a center of Dionysiac worship, and Pausinius, world traveler of the second century of our era gives this description:

In the market-place, for most of the temples are there, is the Ephesian Artemis, and there are two wooden statues of Dionysus, gilt except the faces, which are painted with red paint, one they call Lysian Dionysus and the other Dionysus the Reveler. [Jachin and Boaz if you will] The tradition about these statues I will record.  Pentheus, they say, when he outraged dionysus, among other acts of reckless daring actually at last went to mount Cithaeron to spy on the women, and climbed up into a tree to see what they were doing; and when they detected him, they forthwith dragged him down, and tore him limb from limb.  And afterwards, so they say at Corinth, the Pythian priestess told them to discover that tree and pay it divine honors.  And that is why these statues are made of that very wood.  (Description of Greece, II.ii; tr. A.R. Shilleto)

"There was in Corinth, then, a significant monument memorializing the savagery of female Bacchus worshippers.  Nor was such a feminine ferocity confined to Pentheus alone.  Women under the inspiration of Bacchus were said to have torn Orpheus limb from limb;
        and Alexander the Great was supposed to have
incorporated a group of these maenads (mad women) into his army in his attempt to conquer India.  There was also a tradition that women during the course of the worship tore apart young animals and ate them raw, warm and bleeding, thereby receiving within themselves the life of the god.  In a 1976 address to the Mystery Religions Division of the Society of Biblical Literature, Ross Kraemer argued that there is evidence that women participated in a second level of initiation in Bacchic worship that was not available to men.  Among Dionysiac worshippers, writes Livy in his History of Rome, 'the majority are women' (XXXIX.xv)

While women were famed for their wildness in the Bacchic cult and in certain other mystery cults, other aspects of their worship were more traditional.  Of special importance to the study of the situation Paul addresses is the concept of clamor, noisy outbursts of religious pandemonium.
SECONDLY, LOOK AT THE VERY DEFINITIONS OF elencho AND HOW IT IS USED:
John 16:8 And when he is come,
        he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
8 Kai elthōn ekeinos elegxei ton kosmon peri hamartias kai peri dikaiosunēs kai peri kriseōs:
John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
John 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
John 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
The name of the Comforter is Jesus Christ the Righteous: if Christ in SPIRIT influencing YOUR spirit is convicting you and causing you to deliberately DISCOMFORT people and even boast about it by EXPOSING them to instrumental music to lead them to become more PROGRESSIVE, Christ is your enemy.

Chapter 8

1 Moreover Azazyel (Tubal-Cain etal.) taught men to make swords, knives, shields, breastplates, the fabrication of mirrors, and the workmanship of bracelets and ornaments, the use of paint, the beautifying of the eyebrows, the use of stones of every valuable and select kind, and all sorts of dyes, so that the world became altered.

In the Sons of The Gods:

(r) Genun (Tubal-Cain etal.) the Canaanite, son of Lamech the Blind, living in the Land of the Slime Pits,

..........so that they gave forth seductive tunes entrancing the hearts of all listeners.
Genun would assemble companies of musicians,

Start off [970] while you sing to the god of the lyre and to the chaste goddess armed with the bow. Hail! thou god who flingest thy darts so far, grant us the victory! The homage of our song is also due to Here, the goddess of marriage, [975] who interests herself in every chorus and guards the approach to the nuptial couch.

THE SPIRIT WILL NEVER TELL A PREACHER TO LIE ABOUT THE CURSE OF SACRIFICIAL MUSIC.

Jack Cottrell
says that the Holy Spirit may match us up with someone who can WITNESS to them and creates some action. However, the NACC and a few Churches of Christ have rejected this view.

Alexander Campbell
We have clearly seen in the examinations already completed, that the Spirit of God was the author of all the supernatural intelligence, wisdom, and power, which appear in the writings and doings of all God's messengers to men:--and that he is the author of all genuine goodness in the human heart, is quite apparent.

We have also discerned, that all the converting power--or saving power,
        which the Spirit of God exerts on the human mind,
        is now in and by the word written, read or heard;
        for that where this word has never been heard or known,
                not one supernatural idea exists;--
                not one ray of spiritual or celestial light has shone.

This agrees with John Calvin's view that we need a supernatural operation to understand the Will of God: He says that God gave us His WORD and He sent out evangelists to teach it and no one hears beyond the sacred pages. Calvin said that anyone who thought that they received any "spirit" outside of the Word of Christ the Spirit is a fanatic.
This was the effect of the WORDS of Jesus Christ who CONDEMNED him and did NOT intend to convert him.
The word SPEAK as LOGOS is the opposite of poetry or music: when you put the Words of God in Christ to melodies and radically change or ignore the context you are PUTTING CHRIST TO AN OPEN SHAME.

Muthos human speech, public speech, skilled in speech, one's own thoughts, rumor, tale, story, narrative without distinction of true or false, likely story, told to people who never listen fiction OPPOSITE logos or historic truth.

Pind. O. 1 From there glorious song enfolds the wisdom of poets, so that they loudly sing [10] the son of Cronus, when they arrive at the rich and blessed hearth of Hieron, who wields the scepter of law in Sicily of many flocks, reaping every excellence at its peak, and is glorified [15] by the choicest music, which we men often play around his hospitable table. Come, take the Dorian lyre down from its peg, if the splendor of Pisaplaced your mind under the influence of sweetest thoughts,...

        can be deceptive, stories adorned with embroidered lies;

        But the days to come are the wisest witnesses.

Homer Odyssey Hom. Od. 21.401
The person cannot "witness" to anyting which is not in THE WORD: assuredly his personal testimony would seem to bleed to power of the gospel away.  Whatever happens to an individual there is nothing which can produce faith which trusts outside of the Word of God.  For those who never hear the gospel we should worry more about the gospel being blurred in singing, clapping and playing instruments with the universal mening of "making the lambs dumb before the slaughter."

Jack Cottrell claims the Holy Spirit may act directly by making contact with a person who can witness to them. Whatever the truth be, our command is NOT to private interpret or further expound to leave the Words of Christ the honor of doing the work.

The Usually proof text is:
Eze 36:27  "I will put My  Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.

However, verse 26 reads:

Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and A new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

God does His supernatural "sprinkling" when we obey in baptism. The sprinkling is done in the heart:

Heb.10:2 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our
hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our
bodies washed with pure water.

A true HEART is A holy spirit is A good conscience (consciousness or co-perception)

Eze 36:27 And I will put MY spirit within you
        and cause you to walk in MY statutes,
        and ye shall keep MY judgments, and do them.
Paul equated the Holy Spirit to the Mind of Christ in 1 Corinthians 2:
The Holy Spirit
       Is to God
What our spirit
        is to us
But, WE (the apostles) have the Mind of Christ and that is why WE are writing YOU to inform you.
If we have God's Spirit or the Spirit OF God (a prepositional phrase) then the SEAL is that we obey the commands of God in Christ.

Jesus knew about Ezekiel because the prophets wrote by the Spirit of Christ. Jesus showed that the FULFILMENT would be at baptism:

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The same Peter said that this fulfills the TYPE of the Ark in the flood:

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the request for A good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

As for as the BODILY indwelling of the PERSON called The Holy Spirit, there is never a distinction between spirit and Spirit: this is the Calvinistic KJV work.

        but ye are washed,
        but ye are sanctified,
                but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus,
                and by the Spirit OF our God.

1Cor. 6:19 What? know ye not that your body
        is the temple of the Holy SPIRIT WHICH is in you,
        which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
        1Cor. 6:20 For ye are bought with a price:
                therefore glorify God in your body,
                and in YOUR SPIRIT, which are God’s.

What? know ye not that For ye are bought with a price:
your body therefore glorify God in your body,
is the temple of the holy hpirit and in YOUR spirit,
which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19 which are Gods. 1 Corinthians 6:20

Walter Scott wrote:

"Again--Some will say, What does the expression Holy Spirit mean?
Well, in scripture it stands

first for God the Holy Spirit,
and
secondly for the holy mind or spirit of a believer--

for illustration, take Peter's words to Ananias, "Why has Satan tempted you to lie to the Holy Spirit; you have not lied to men, but to God," (the Holy Spirit.)

And the Saviour says, How much more will your heavenly Father give A holy spirit (as it should be translated) to those that ask him. Again--Praying in A holy spirit. Again--Paul says he approved himself God's servant "by knowledge, by long sufferings, by kindness, by A holy spirit'" by a mind innocent of the love of gain, or commerce, or sensuality.

"Now then the expression stands for both God the Holy Spirit, and for a believer's spirit made holy by him.

2 Co. 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

2 Co. 4:5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus sake.

    2 Co. 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness,
            hath shined in our hearts,
            to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ

Eph. 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory,
        to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

Which is parallel to so we don't misunderstand:

Eph. 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph. 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Baptism saves, says Peter in 1 Peter 3:21 because that is how we call on the name of the Lord to REQUEST A holy spirit or A good conscience, consciousness or a co perception.

A good conscience is:

Suneidesis (g4893) soon-i'-day-sis; from a prol. form of 4894; co- perception, i.e. moral consciousness; - conscience.

Suneido (g4894) soon-i'-do; from 4862 and 1492 [SPIRITUAL EYES]; to see completely; used (like its prim.) only in two past tenses, respectively mean. to understand or become aware, and to be conscious or (clandestinely) informed of: - consider, know, be privy, be ware of.

A GOOD CONSCIENCE is further defined:

Suneidêsis , knowledge shared with another, [as with a midwife]
2.
communication, information,

Heuresis: find that, find means, be able, discover
Eisenenkan: carry with one, sweep along, of a river,
2.
bring in for oneself, 3. bring in with one, introduce,

3. knowledge
4. consciousness, awareness... inner consciousness
5. consciousness of right or wrong doing, conscience

Another proof-text lifted is:  2 Cor 1:22   who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

Notice that Paul used parallel statements:
2 Cor 1:21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ,
        and hath anointed us, is God;2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us,
        and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation:
in whom also, after that ye believed,
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,   1 Pet. 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,
ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, and ye shall receive the gift of the holy ghost. but the request for of a goodconscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Eph. 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
        may give unto you the spirit OF wisdom and revelation [OF] in the knowledge of him:
Eph. 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have
        tasted of the heavenly gift
, a
        and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

Heb 6:5 And have
        tasted the good word OF God
,
        and the powers of the world to come,

Gal 4:6  Because you are  sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

Shouldn't Paul being guided by Christ the Spirit have said "God has sent The Holy Spirit" into our hearts. The Spirit OF a Son gives one the mental disposition of a son as opposed to the spirit of a servant.

It should be clear from the prepositional phrase that the Spirit OF Christ cannot be "another person." The spirit OF adoption is the SEAL that we are the children of God.

Rom 8:1 THERE is therefore now no condemnation to them
........ which are in Christ Jesus,
........ who walk not after the flesh, [human]
........ but after the Spirit. [human]

Rom 8:2 For the law of the
........ Spirit OF life in Christ Jesus [we are baptized into Christ]
........ hath made me free from the law of sin and death. [and free from the Law of Ordinances]

Isn't that clear to any one who has read any of the contemporaneous literature tha the spirit OF LIFE is NOT a separated person. That is because SPIRIT means MIND and both Hebrew and Greek and dozens of passages identify that is the MENTAL DISPOSITION of God.

Rom 8:3 For what THE LAW could not do, in that it was weak through THE FLESH,
........ God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin,
         condemned sin IN the flesh:
Pr 1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold,
........I will pour out my SPIRIT that unto you,
........I will make known my WORDS which unto you.
Pr 1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Pr 1:25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us,
........ who walk not after the flesh, [human]
........ but [walk] after the Spirit. [WE have the MIND of Christ which is the SPIRIT]
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then
........with the MIND I myself serve the law of God;
........but with the FLESH the law of sin. Rom 7:25
And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that TURN [CONVERT] from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord. Isa 59:20
As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord;
...........My SPIRIT that is UPON thee, and

It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:
the WORDS that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63
.......... shall not depart out of thy mouth,

l..........nor out of the mouth of thy seeds seed,
.......... saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever. Isa 59:21
Rom 8:5 For they that are AFTER the flesh do MIND the things of the flesh; [human]
........but they that are AFTER the Spirit, [do MIND] the things OF the Spirit. [ours when cleansed]
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death: [ours]
........but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [ours]
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:
........for it is not subject to the law of God,
........neither indeed can be.
Rom 8 So then they that are IN the flesh cannot please God.:8
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but IN the Spirit,

........Now if any man have not the Spirit OF Christ, he is none of his.
Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you,
........the body is dead because of sin; but [ours]
........the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [ours]
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit OF HIM that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,
........he that raised up Christ from the dead shall
........also quicken your mortal bodies by HIS Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors,
........not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: [ours]
........but if ye through the Spirit [ours] do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit OF God, they are the sons of God.
Stephen who warned us about the musical idolatry at Mount Sinai and "temple building" saw Jesus as the RIGHT HAND of the Majesty of God and
        when he CALLED upon God,
        he SAID "Lord Jesus."

Whatever WE do we must do in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ who is our ONE and ONLY Comforter.

It should be clear from the prepositional phrase that the Spirit OF Christ cannot be "another person." The spirit OF adoption is the SEAL that we are the children of God.

Alexander Campbell notes: But it must be observed, that the testimony of God in the authenticated word, and the testimony within, are both necessary to the full assurance of our sonship. Hence, John says, "If our heart condemn us not, then we have confidence." By loving "not in word only, but in deed and in truth," says the divine Apostle, "we know that we are [130] of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

Happy frames and good feelings are no evidence of our sonship, unless sustained by the testimony in the Holy Scriptures. And this calls for unreserved obedience to all the commandments of Jesus.

But while this and much more may be necessary to illustrate the testimony borne to our spirits by the Spirit of God; the fact that such a witness exists, and the bare meaning of the phrase, are all that fairly lie within our present object. The Apostle's design in the connection in which the phrase occurs, clearly ascertains its import. His proposition is: "As many as are led by the Spirit, these are the sons of God." "To be led by the Spirit," or to be led by any person, is simply to be guided by what they say.
The Spirit Lord said that He was Jesus of Nazareth: Paul had to SEE and HEAR the risen Lord to be qualified to be guided by Jesus Personally until the end of that "Age."

Baptism is in the NAME of Jesus Christ and there is no other name we REQUEST from Christ that He give us A holy spirit or A good conscience and it is Christ and not a separated person who adds us to His church, else why not call it the church of the Holy Spirit?

Alexander Campbell and others understand that A holy spirit is OUR unholy spirit which has been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ and not His "spirit."

This is...understood by every attentive reader. The original phrase is hagiasmos pneumatos, and is found only in II. Thess. ii. 13; I. Pet. i. 2. In both places it appears to refer to the sanctification of the spirit of believers.   It is literally rendered "sanctification [or holiness] of spirit." There is no article in the original and no epithet that suggests the Holy Spirit in either passage.

God has chosen men to salvation through (or by) holiness of spirit;

not through the holiness of his Spirit,
        but through the holiness of their spirit.

When Jesus prayed (John xvii.) for the sanctification or holiness of his disciples,
          it was through the truth: "Sanctify them through the truth;
          thy word is truth."

The belief of the truth is, therefore, by Paul associated with this holiness or sanctification of spirit.

The Spirit of God is frequently denominated in these days, "the Sanctifier." Let it be granted that it is the Spirit that sanctifies or sets apart men to God, still it must be argued from the Record
        that he sanctifies them only through the truth or gospel believed.
A sanctified unbeliever is inconceivable;
        and, as "without holiness [or sanctification of spirit] no man can see the Lord;
        so, without faith, there can be no holiness, and no action acceptable to God.

All persons sanctified to God to any high office or function, were anointed, and thus consecrated to his special service. So all Christians, being priests,

        are anointed or sanctified by the Holy Spirit
       [135] through the obedience of the truth,
        and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus,
        cleansing their consciences from dead works to serve the living God.

When we are washed in water God give us A pure conscience or consciousness.
When we are baptized we rece A new or holy spirit
When we are born again it is OUR spirit which is renewed or regenerated by Christ Himself and not just by His Mind or mental disposition.

This defines a NEW BIRTH or returning to one's nativity. It also means our Adoption which always included baptism, a new name and new clothing.
We are born of water (says 1 Peter 3:21) which saves because we REQUEST A good conscience or A holy spirit. When OUR spirit has been washed of sins IT become "born again" with a NEW spirit.
The word conversion includes repentance but it means the same things as returning to our nativity.

Jn 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
    Except a MAN be born AGAIN
    he cannot see the kingdom of God.

It is not possible to miss what Jesus said:
A MAN must be born AGAIN to SEE the kingdom.
The parallelism is
A MAN must be [future] born of H20 and Spirit.
Jn 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him,
        How can a MAN be born when he is OLD?

        can he enter the second time into his
        mother's womb, and be born?
Jn 3:5 Jesus answered,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
    Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
    he cannot enter
into the kingdom of God.
It insults Jesus to have him say that you cannot enter the kingdom until you are BIRTHED
If the Holy Spirit is a PERSON separated from the SON, we have a problem because neither the SON (Words) or Spirit (Breath) creates any information. Therefore, the literal indwelling of a separated PERSON denies that FULL DEITY dwelled in Jesus of Nazareth known as Jesus the Christ of God.

Jesus appeared to Paul in Spirit because to be led by Jesus Christ THE Spirit one must SEE and HEAR the resurrected Jesus Christ. Therefore, those who want to exert their full "power" must claim to see or hear the Spirit which is impossible and Jesus has already spoke through the Prophets and the prophecies made more certain. Peter said that the written example is the only way to MARK a person as a false teacher.
