Jay Guin Dancing in Worship

11.07.16  Plutarch affirmed that Dionysus was one of the gods of the Jews and the anticipated Messiah. That is why they PIPED hoping that Jesus would lament or sing and dance as a result of their initiation to the ALWAYS Gay Priesthood.  He also wrote defining why Paul SILENCED both the ODE and PSALLO in Ephesus when Antony visited:

XXIV. But when he was once come into Asia, having left Lucius Censorinus governor in Greece, and that he had felt the riches and pleasures of the east parts, and that princes, great lords, and kings, came to wait at his gate for his coming out: and that queens and princesses, to excel one another, gave him very rich presents,

and came to see him, curiously setting forth themselves,
and using all art that might be to shew their beauty,
to win his favour the more (Caesar in the mean space turmoiling [troubling] his wits and body
        in civil Wars at home,
Antonius living merrily and quietly abroad), he easily fell again to his old licentious life.

For straight, [The pattern]

Xoutus, a player of the flute,
Metrodorus a tumbler, [orkhēstēs DANCER - Jay's Pattern
and such a rabble of minstrels and
FIT ministers for the pleasures of Asia [thia^s-os  Bacchic revel, routMousōn]
(who in fineness and flattery passed all the other plagues
he brought with him out of Italy),
all these flocked in his court, and bare the whole sway: and after that all went awry.

For every one gave themselves to riot and excess, when they saw he delighted in it: and all Asia was like to the city Sophocles speaketh of in one of his tragedies:

Was full of sweet perfumes and pleasant songs,  [The church invaders]
With woeful weeping mingled there-amongs.       [Those being invaded]
Eph. 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the WILL of the Lord is.
Eph. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:
the WORDS that I speak unto you, they are SPIRIT, and they are life.

For in the city of Ephesus, WOMEN, attired as they go in the feasts and sacrifice of [Dionysus] Bacchus, [Wrath or Orgy]
came out to meet him with such solemnities and ceremonies
as are then used: with men and children disguised like fauns and satyrs.

Moreover, the city was full of ivy, and darts [SHAKEN REEDS]

and in their songs they called him Bacchus, father of mirth, courteous and gentle
and so was he unto some,
but to the most part of men cruel and extreme. [Savage]

That is why SPEAK excludes Singing or Instruments as Anti-Logos and Anti-Christ
Lexis.Ode.gif
These are the BEASTS of Revelation and the MARKERS. This is the PATTERN MARKED by music as ONLY PLEASURE, of the PROGRESSIVES

For he robbed noblemen and gentlemen of their goods, [lied about tithes and offerings]
to give it unto vile flatterers: [Religious staff were known as Parasites]
who oftentimes begged living men's goods
as though they had been dead,
and would enter their houses by force. [Congregation: been there, done to three times]
As he gave a citizen's house of Magnesia unto a cook,
because (as it is reported) he dressed him a fine supper.
In the end he doubled the taxation, and imposed a second upon Asia.

8.14.16 Paul always reveals the ANTITHESIS of the Pagan religion quite parallel to JEWISH FABLES.  That is the way to separate the CHAFF by the baptism of spirit (wind) and fire for the final end of those FOREORDAINED according to Jude who uses the pattern of the instrumental-trinitarian-perverted idolatry which sealed the doom of the "Jew's" promise.

All of Scripture including Paul insists that BOTH men and women be peaceable and QUIET.
The men were to be silent because THEY permitted the women and effeminate to fall into wrath or an ORGY.  An orgy is any religious observation--to which the kingdom does not come--engaging in rhetoric, singing or playing instruments which always leads to an outbreak of strong decious sexual feelings.

The women were to be SILENT because they always claimed that their musical arousal of the males was the "gods" speaking to them and not to males. All of the women-silent passages is to stop the now-verified rise of the women and boys (effeminate) ruling over the male in once-Christian universities and all "progressive" pseudo churches.

The reason that Paul said NEITHER male nor female and not BOTH male and female is for the one-piece pattern for the once-a-week REST or SCHOOL assembly.

1Tim. 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Ephesians 4 being SAFE by grace through faith is FROM the religious observations now RESTORED by the Progressives who are ANTI-LOGOS or Regulative Principle and therefore ANTI-CHRIST.

1Ti 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that WE may lead a QUIET and PEACABLE life in all GODLINESS and HONESTY [gravity].

You cannot use rhetoric or music to SPEAK God's word through Jesus only as the LOGOS allerting any and all DISCIPLES OF CHRIST to flee from those using Apollo's harp provided by KAIROS as Paul warned in Ephesians 4 LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.

Hermes or KAIROS (the
Jubal story) slaughtered a turtle to make a lyre while an infant. He used the LYRE to force Apollo's cattle to walk backward like modern "sheep stealers." Sacrificing a turtle to make a harp was because the flesh was powerful against witchcraft. Apollon-Abaddon is the only personified "spirit" and He is the father of the muses or locusts as his "musical worship team."  God outlawed private interpretation or "further expounding" and selling bodies as religious performers.  the New Hermeneutic teaches that HERMES-KAIROS was the LOGOS John spoke about. Hermes or Kairos were demon son gods and definen the Devil as adversaries of "that which is written for our learning."
HH 4  To Hermes, Mercury parallel to KAIROS the demon son of Zeus:

Paul cast out the Pythian Spirit:
Pi.O.13.15 [15] for your consummate excellence when you won in sacred contests, and often into the hearts of men the Seasons rich in flowers have cast ancient inventiveness. But the fame for every work is due to its inventor. Whence did the graces of Dionysus first come to light, with the ox-driving dithyramb? [20] Who invented the bridle for the harness of horses, or placed the double king of birds on top of the temples of gods?
And in Corinth the sweet-breathing Muse blossoms, and also Ares, with the deadly spears of young men. Highest lord [25] of Olympia, ruling far and wide; for all time, father Zeus, may you be ungrudging of our words, and ruling this people in safety, grant a straight course to the fair wind of Xenophon's good fortune. Receive the ordained song of praise in honor of his garlands, the procession which he leads from the plains of Pisa,
Each thing has its limit; knowing it is the best and most timely [KAIROS] way. And I, sailing on my own course for the common good, [50] and singing of the wisdom and the battles of ancient men in their heroic excellence, shall not falsify the story of Corinth

[20] So soon as he had leaped from his mother's heavenly womb, he lay not long waiting in his holy cradle, but he sprang up and sought the oxen of Apollo. But as he stepped over the threshold of the high-roofed cave, he found a tortoise there and gained endless delight. [25] For it was Hermes who first made the tortoise a singer.

He took the lyre upon his left arm and tried each string in turn with the key [plēktrō OUTLAWED by Psallo], so that at his touch [PSALLO] [420] it sounded awesomely. And Phoebus Apollo laughed for joy; for the sweet throb of the marvellous music went to his heart, and a soft longing took hold on his soul as he listened

But Apollo was seized with a longing not to be allayed, [435] and he opened his mouth and spoke winged words to Hermes: “Slayer of oxen, trickster, busy one, comrade of the feast, this song of yours is worth fifty cows, and I believe that presently we shall settle our quarrel peacefully

12.20.14  Paul Separated the Disciples

For disciples of the WORD tribulated by  the SECARIAN word trying to herd you into the ECUMENICAL world stay calm: God is sending them strong delusions so that they cannot define words and unwittingly or half wittingly collect you (speakers, singers, instrument players, sorcerers) making it easy to BE CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAME OF FIRE

A Church of Christ is a SCHOOL of Jesus through the Word or Regulative principle and is Christ-Defined as SECTARIAN.  Baptized disciples do not do "worship services" but belong to the SECT OF THE WAY: The Way is defined as synagogue or School: A Church of Christ is built upon or educated by the Prophets and Apostles. That is why both male and female "preachers" are to be silent so that "we might all be SAFE and come to a knowledge of the truth." They do not grasp disciples are students and they sit down and shut up and go to School of the Word. It is probable that you have never seen one.

David IMPOSED: God did NOT command: "Indeed not before David's time do professional musicians appear in the Bible. From where did they come? Considering the apparent connection of professional musicians with the institution of Monarchy, we must bear in mind that in the neighboring countries, Egypt and Assyria, the professional musician was an old and familiar figure. It seems that the midrash alludes to an ancient tradition when it relates that King Solomon's Egyptian wife, daughter of the Pharaoh, carried in her dowry a thousand foreign instruments.

Yet an instrument is of no use without a musician able to play it. Hence, we may assume that the systematic import and subsequent training of professional musicians took place in the era of David and Solomon." (Interpreters Dictionary of the Bible, p. 457).

See gal328.org feminist theology which defines God the FATHER as the onl teacher of His children.  The Command is to PREACH the Word by READING: First, teach everyone to read before they get their Phd and then READ as the directly commanded pattern in the Bible. THEN you can hear Paul say NEITHER and not BOTH. BUT, I am certain that the legalists are going to SPIN BACK: BUT, Paul did NOT say that BOTH cannot be Senior Pulpit Preacher and chief Pastor or pastoress.  Wineskins.org gets angry when we define words: neither now means both because the Spirit of Christ and Paul were too dumb to include PULPIT PREACHER.

Theology" is the mark of Apollon or Abaddon and Feminist Theology forces you to dance.  The MARK of a total fall from Grace is spending a fortune to be told that we are saved by GRACE through: They fail to tell you that Ephesians 2 has a beginning and saved always means SAFE: safe from anything you spend a fortune on in getting a Simon-like gift of "a" spirit which you can sell at retail which means CORRUPTING THE WORD.  The text says that you cannot read BLACK text on BROWN paper (2 Corinthians 3) until you turn, convert or are baptized into Christ.

To mark those who think that they have been chosen to abrogate the olden Bible they-- in infinite distance -- from the ONE GOD the Father Christ's inclusive-inclusive pattern was/is to PREACH the Word by READING the Word by vocational elders who. That is certified in the prophets which you don't need to procure a degree in theology  which presumes to EXPERIMENT on God.

  1. No one is washed with water INTO the Word or "School of Christ" without baptism.
  2. No one receives A holy spirit (theirs) without baptism
  3. No one is "saved by baptism" by "faith" to receive A good conscience, consciousness or a co-perception of the WORD, Logos or the Regulative Principle which outlaws all of the Roles and Doles.
  4. No one has their "sins washed away" or remitted without baptism.
  5. No one has their spirit translated into the heavenly kingdom without baptism: Ekklesia is a SAFE HOUSE protected from laded burdens and burden laders until the Command, Example and historic ASSEMBLY one time each week to PREACH the Word one to another by READING and MEDITATING-melete: (not singing and melody-melos)
Grace teaches us to SKIP the "observations" to which the kingdom will never come when we by FAITH obey the teachings of the Father to mark us as a child of God and ABRAHAM which covenant was pre-clergy.

We are SAFE FROM dancing in holy place when when Paul in romans 12 says that GOD IS STILL A CONSUMING FIRE for those who repeat the Mount Sinai idolatry and do not come before God in reverence and godly fear. We will show at the bottom that there are TWO SPIRITUAL races on the world and only ONE attacks everyone who will not DANCE when the boys pipe in the marketplace.

Ephesians 2 has been a topic at Concerned Members today.  Saved by grace through faith means be SAFE by Grace which teaches us NOT to dare to dance with God when we obey by Faith.  No one in the theology field seems able to ask: SAVED FROM WHAT?

  1. No one has their sins remitted by faith
  2. No one receives A holy spirit or A good conscience by faith only.
  3. No one has their spirits translated into the heavenly kingdom by faith
  4. No one is added to the ekklesia or universal church by faith only.
  5. No one is "washed with water into the WORD" meaning into the SCHOOL OF CHRIST by just believing in Jesus.
  6. No one is saved FROM that crooked race, the World for which Jesus does not pay without being baptized to "save yourselves from this crooked race." In fact, the GRACE-ONLY cults insists says Shelly etal WE SHOULD BE AS MUCH AS MUCH LIKE THE WORLD TO SAVE THE WORLD. Now, they gonna SAVE THE WORLD by their conduct!!
Concepts used just be confrontational and popular in the WORLD for which Jesus doesn't pray strike disciples as pretty ugly and why up to 2/3 of an invaded congregation flees when the THEOLOGIANS (never used of God) when the musical band invades where music includes moving your voice together and moving your body together.

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings houses. Mat 11:8

Soft is from the Greek: Malakos (g3120) mal-ak-os'; of uncert. affin.; soft, i.e. fine (clothing); fig. a catamite (male prostitute): - effeminate, soft. (g3119 means soft or diseased)

"Asherah (symbolized by errect poles with fertility symbols pouring out the top): She is the Queen of Heaven , in other languages and ages identified as Ashtoreth, Athirat, Astarte, and Ishtar. Yahweh, the Hebrew God elevated to become the sole deity , was Her consort. Her "male" priestesses were known as kelabim, the faithful "dogs" of the Goddess, "who practiced divinatory arts, danced in processions, and served as hierodules, qedeshim, in the company of other priestesses. Elements of the goddess worship were largely erased in a cultural purge c. 630 BCE by King Yosiah, at the behest of Yahweh's priests, who required supremacy.

"I would argue that in Greek tragedy the cross-dressed actor was crucial, a sign of the conventional nature of the drama. Male playing female is inevitably distanced from the role and makes it clear that the role of the woman is an idealization, not a realization. In addition the male playing female indicates a possible relevance of the form to dionysus , a god associated with masks and characterized by softness, woman's curls and dress (Bacchae) and worshipped with transvestite ceremonies at the Oschophoria (Seaford; Segal 1982: 10-20, 158- 68, 214).

As the PLAY at Mount Sinai and the MOCKING when the clergy encompassed Jesus like dogs. As one of the dozens of ways music and motion is used to make the lambs dumb before the slaughter here is something Paul and school kids would understand from attending plays for education..

[791] You seize the minds of just men and drag them to injustice, to their ruin. You it is who have incited this conflict of men whose flesh and blood are one. Greek: ekstasis , "to stand outside of or transcend [oneself ]"), in mysticism, the experience of an inner vision of God or of one's relation to or union with the divine. Various methods have been used to achieve ecstasy, which is a primary goal in most forms of religious mysticism. The most typical consists of four stages:

(1) purgation (of bodily desire);
(2)
purification (of the will);
(3)
illumination (of the mind); and
(4)
unification (of one's being or will with the divine).

Other methods are: dancing (as used by the Mawlawiyah, or whirling dervishes, a Muslim Sufi sect); the use of sedatives and stimulants (as utilized in some Hellenistic mystery religions); and the use of certain drugs, such as peyote, mescaline, hashish, LSD, and similar products (in certain Islamic sects and modern experimental religious groups).

Click for Elisha helping to destroy]

Most mystics, both in the East and in the West, frown on the use of drugs because no permanent change in the personality (in the mystical sense) has been known to occur.

In certain ancient Israelite prophetic groups, music was used to achieve the ecstatic state, in which the participants, in their accompanying dancing, were believed to have been seized by the hand of Yahweh, the God of Israel, as in the case of Saul, the 11th-century-bc king of Israel.

The Pythia (priestess) of the Greek oracle at Delphi often went into an ecstatic state during which she uttered sounds revealed to her by the python (the snake, the symbol of resurrection), after drinking water from a certain spring.

Her "words" were then interpreted by a priest to help a suppliant find a way to avoid calamities, especially death. In primitive religions, ecstasy was a technique highly developed by shamans, religious personages with healing and psychic-transformation powers, in their "soul," or "spirit," flights. IF YOU WANT TO SING AND PLAY AND CLAP AND DANCE IN THE SCHOOL OF CHRIST THAT'S WHAT GOD WANTS YOU TO DO: INSISTS.

Richard Beck Experimental Theology and the future of Churches of Christ.   In Scripture Theology defines the Scribes and Pharisees who "take away the key to knowledge." Jesus defined the Scribes (liars in the prophets) and Pharisees as Hypocrites. In the Ezekiel version Christ names popular preachers for hire, singers and instrument players." These are the MARKS of people who neither preach nor practice the word.  The Spirit OF Christ defined the Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness for the godly people. He defined the FUTURE of the Church of Christ both inclusively and exclusively in the prophets.   The ACU kingdom have a spirit guide who is now defining the FUTURE of churches which are no longer SYNAGOGUES which define the once a week assembly to PREACH the Word (regulative principle) by READING the Word for Comfort and doctrine.  The Lord's supper teaches us that we have nothing of value to IMAGINE so we follow the pattern SPEAK (dicto) A hymn and GO OUT.  The progressives are not just anti-sectarian but are UNIVERSALISTS which probably means "we will take anyone's money" for the unlawful collection plate.

Theology would never dare be used about the God identified in the Scriptures (Prophets and Apostles).  That would presume a level of inspiration claimed by those who hear A spirit tell them to twist the Scriptures. We will show that THEOLOGY which was suddenly unleashed to replace the Scriptures identifies Abaddon-Apollon unleased from the PIT to become the leader and SPIRIT GUIDE of the Locusts who are the MUSES or worship team; they are identified as adulteresses and SHEPHERDS under the Babylon Mother of Harlots (Revelation 17).  They sort out the craftsmen, singers and instrument players who are called SORCERERS so they can be held captive until time to CAST THEM ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.

PAGAN LOGOS: Hermes (new hermeneutic), Mercury or Kairos is the LEADER of those who do not teach that which has been taught.

Hermes (Mercury, Kairos), as in hermeneutic, is the in Homer's Hymn 4 to Hermes

What skill is this? What song for desperate cares? What way of song? For verily here are three things to hand all at once from which to choose, —
mirth, and love, and sweet sleep.
[450] And though I am a follower of the Olympian Muses who love dances and the bright path of song —the full-toned chant and ravishing thrill of flutes —yet I never cared for any of those feats of skill at young men's revying. But now, since you, though little, have such glorious skill, sit down, dear boy, and respect the words of your elders For now you shall have renown among the deathless gods, you and your mother also. This I will declare to you exactly:

The One God the Father has His own Thought, Breath (spirit) and articulated WORD with Him as the meaning of Father, Son and Spirit.  God speaks THROUGH Jesus of Nazareth and Jesus commanded that people teach what HE commanded to be taught. A Christian is a Disciple and the RESOURCE for educating a church is the Prophets and Apostles.  A Disciple of Christ would never tamper with the Word by saying that THEY have the authority to replace SPEAK with entertain. When God pours out His wrath He sends lying wonders or buffoons we love to watch.

See Mike Cope, Jeff Walling's New partner with the NACC  The NACC does not speak for Christian Churches as Jeff Walling does not speak for churches of Christ.  Buying and Selling is the game prophecies.

Mimae were players of the most debauched and dissolute kind; and balatrones, in general, signifies all scoundrels, buffoons, and parasites, who had their name, according to the old commentator, from Servilius Balatro. “Balatrones hoc genus omne”, for omne hoc balatronum genus, is a remarkable sort of construction.

ANYONE WHO IS THE LITTLE FLOCK OF LOST SPIRITS JESUS CAME TO RESCUE WILL HAVE GODLY FEAR AND REVERENCE WHICH IS SOMBER.  They flock of sheep as opposed to the world race of goats or vipers know that they live in a dangerous world of Apollon's evangelists and musicians seeking whom they might devour.

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship: Jay Guin claims that: The prevalent somber attitude that we in the Churches of Christ call “worship” comes from those same fine 16th Century Calvinists who brought us the Regulative Principle.

The Church or Ekklesia consists of all who have been washed with water INTO the Word or into the school of Christ: they are cut free from STAFF known as parasites in all systems of religion.  Their spirits have been translated into the heavely kingdom and the church is prophesied as the UMBRELLUM or Safe house from all of the storms and rains of people seeking lambs to devour.

When a group of ekklesia members decided to assemble, gather or come together they are called a SYNAGOGUE or a school of the Word and disciples -- if normal -- understand to follow the PATTERN for men and women to sit down, shut up and LEARN.  That is never called a worship service devoted to body worship.

Acts 8:28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot READ Esaias the prophet.
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time
hath in every city them that PREACH him,
being READ in the synagogues every sabbath day.
The people at Mount Sinai had a group who were GUINITES: they rose up to engage in musical idolatry. That was the result of having refused to listen to The Book of The Covenant which was given by God in Christ to Abraham.
2Cor. 3:14 But their minds were blinded:
for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away
in the READING of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
Their minds are still blind because they deny that Christ in prophecy, Jesus by Command and without exception, those who obey ASK for A holy spirit or A good conscience or consciousness: that means a co-perception of the word so that you can read BLACK text on BROWN paper. Then you can grasp the same passage where Paul says that THE LORD IS THE SPIRIT and where the Spirit OF the Lord can be read and preached we have LIBERTY: from what? From those who think that SPEAK the text means to SING the silly songs of the Praise Leader as "the world's oldest profession." The same John who recorded Jesus say of the Comforter (paraclete) say in 1 John that the NAME of the Comforter is "Jesus Christ the Righteous." John also says that if you miss
Col. 4:16 And when this epistle is READ among you,
        cause that it be READ also in the church of the Laodiceans;
and that ye likewise READ the epistle from Laodicea.

Paul commanded that the men pray so they do not raise or permit wrath or an ORGY and the women are to be silent thinking that as a female or effeminate they heard the "gods" so that ALL might be saved (Safe From orgy) and come to a knowledge of THE TRUTH.  If you do NOT follow the command from the wilderness you DENY that

1Tim. 2:5 For there is one God,
and one mediator between God and men,
        the man Christ Jesus;

Proof that people cannot read or as Paul warned in Ephesians 4 THEY ARE LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE is that if you deny the ONE GOD the Father and One Son whom God HAS MADE TO BE both Lord and Christ you are an ANTICHRIST.

If you hear a "spirit" tell you to FINALLY reveal your hidden agenda for a both/and instrumental church BELIEVE IT. The Spirit and leader of the Musical Worship Team at Delphi and Corinth was Abaddon or Apollyon who HAS EMERGED from hell along with the locusts or MUSES who have learned never to challenge the Babylon Mother of Harlots (Revelation)

Because Jay doesn't grasp that a church assembles as SYNAGOGUE which after the Shema or confession that there is just ONE God with His Spirit and His Word with Him, and the systematically READ especially the Prophets where the Spirit OF Christ defined the FUTURE REST both inclusively and exclusively also defining those who would musically mock Messiah as the SON sent to seek and save lost spirits: A LITTLE FLOCK so if you are part of the massed multitudes Jesus will be OUTSIDE suffering the reproaches by the Minister of Reproaches where He invites the twos and threes to "REST and learn of ME."

God always PRUNES the World for whom Jesus will not pray and RESERVES a tiny remnant of those OF TRUTH or OF FAITH who are waiting for the invitation that God has sent for us by first RAPTURING us away from the BEASTS or massed multidude.

The Word of God is the LOGOS: the Greeks defined Hermes, Mercury or Kairos as the regulator and the mediator between man and the gods: he was a homosexual kind of Guy.  God defined the Logos as the REGULATIVE PRINCIPLE which is opposite to personal opinions in speaking for hire, singing, playing instruments, acting or dancing.

Jay Guin Wants to Dance with God like Jeff Walling?

The Lutherans, for example, are much more expressive, historically, as can be easily discerned by comparing the works of the Lutheran J. S. Bach to the great Calvinist composer … uh, well, if the Calvinists had ever produced a halfway decent composer, I’m sure we’d have something very, very powerful to talk about.

Contrary Facts: As examples, the French Calvinist composers Louis Bourgeois and Claude Goudimel are attributed with this shift in religious music, “making their selections from the popular melodies… that now the people would no longer sing in the saloon or in the street, but in the sanctuary…” Bourgeois contributed songs (under the supervision of John Calvin) to the Genevan Psalter, a collection of unison-sung hymns based on the Psalms. Today, Bourgeois is best known not by name but by the hymn “The Old 100th (also known as the Protestant Doxology). Goudimel was also a contributor and the homophonic arranger of the Genevan Psalter. With a slight change to which voice presented the melody (in 4-part harmony), he forever changed Western music:

Calvin was a Bible Reader and understood the command to SPEAK that which was written for our LEARNING.

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship: No, the Catholics and Lutherans wrote some great music, while the Calvinists argued over whether the Regulative Principle allows us to modify the psalms to fit the tunes better – a very joyless approach to “worship.”

Threskia as IMPURE RELIGION wants you to impose YOUR BODY to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter." However, Luther didn't think that the School of Christ was for self-exposure and the ORGY Paul warned about.

Luther wrote but NOT for the use in the Assembly.  He was SOLA FIDA and SOLA SCRIPTURA.  He said that faith comes from the Word of God.

It is false to claim that Calvin invented the Regulative Principle: the Bible and most of church history defended the mission of Jesus Christ Who spoke the LOGOS which God breathed (spirit) into him.  Jesus never spoke on His own and said that His disciples will speak the WORD or LOGOS or God's Regulative Principle.

John Calvin was the first to bow to the wishes of the protestants who now had the cathedrals devoted to musical and theatrical performance.  He allows some psalms only to be set to a simple meter to be sung in unison only.

Martin Luther etal had no problem reading Romans 15 where Paul repeat's Christ's PATTERN in Isaiah 58.

For instance, the distracted world attempts to serve God by setting apart houses, churches, cloisters; vestures, gold-trimmed, silk and [50] every other kind; silver vessels and images; bells and organs, candles and lamps; the money for which expense should have been appropriated to the poor if the object was to make an offering to God.

Further, it keeps up a muttering and wailing in the churches day and night. But true praise and honor of God, a service that cannot be confined to place or person, is quietly ignored the world over.

The pretenses of priests and monks about their system of exercises being service to the Lord, are false and delusive.

53. Service to God is praise of him. It must be free and voluntary, at table, in the chamber, cellar, garret, in house or field, in all places, with all persons, at all times. Whosoever teaches otherwise is no less guilty of falsehood than the Pope and the devil himself.

But how shall there be with us honor and praise of God, true service to him, when we neither love him nor receive his blessings? And how shall we love him when we do not know him and his blessings?

And how shall we know him and his blessings when no WORD is preached concerning them and when the Gospel is left to lie under the table? Where the Gospel is not in evidence, knowledge of God is an impossibility. Then to love and praise him is likewise impossible.

As a further consequence it is necessarily impossible for divine service to exist.

Even if all the choristers were one chorister, all the priests one priest, all the monks one monk, all the churches one church, all the bells one bell; in brief if all the foolish services offered to God in the institutions, churches and cloisters were a hundred thousand times greater and more numerous than they are, what does God care for such carnivals and juggling?

54. Therefore, God complains most of the Jews in the second chapter of Micah, because they silenced his praise, while at the same time, they piped, blared and moaned like we do. True divine service of praise cannot be established with revenues, nor be circumscribed by laws and statutes. High and low festivals have nothing to do with it. It emanates from the Gospel, and certainly is as often rendered by a poor, rustic servant as by a great bishop. [51]

The non believers are Purpose Driven to fabricate religious observations for OTHERS and make them pay for it too.  This blasphemes Jesus to died to set us free from ladede burdens and burden laders: He said that the kingdom of God is within us and does not COME with observations. Worship IN THE SPIRIT and IN TRUTH has two parts: obeying the command to PREACH the Word by READING the Word for comfort and doctrine and letting men and women be silent so that "we can all be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth."

WikiWacky: Today it is practiced by several Protestant, especially Reformed denominations. Hymns besides the Psalms have always been composed by Christians,  but psalms were preferred by the early church and used almost exclusively until the end of the fourth century

There is no command, example or remote inference of group singing with or without instrumental noise in the whole Bible.
The only use of musical instruments was by those engaging in musical idolatry such as at Mount Sinai.

For that offense, God turned them over to worship the starry host to SERVE (that Abaddon word) as Sorcerers making instrumental noisie as exorcism during animal slaughter. Christ in Isaiah 1 and Jeremiah 7 said that God DID NOT command such sacrifices. Sorry they missed Acts 7

The early church was commanded to SPEAK that which is written for our learning.
Both the ODE and PSALLO were in the heart or SILENCED as Paul commanded the singing silenced in 1 Corinthians 14
We have noted that SPEAK is the opposite of ODE.  The Spirit OF Christ made certain that we hear Him EXCLUDED external musical performance when He comes to be our ONLY Teacher engaged in the School (only) of Christ (only).
God breathed (spirit) the Word which Jesus spoke WITHOUT METRON or Meter.  Jesus knew that all musical terms mark witchcraft or sorcery.

There is nothing that anyone COULD sing or DID sing by the command to use the Text which is not METRICAL.
SINGING was permitted by Calvin by some Psalms being radically recomposed to make a simple melody in unison possible.

There was no "praise service" in the synagogue because no rational person would think about singing when the command was to PREACH the Word (only) by READING the Word for Comfort and Doctrine. Christ the Rock outlawed "vocal or instrumental rejoicing or rhetoric" for the Qahal, synagogue, ekklesia or church of Christ.  Jesus exampled the PATTERN by standing up to read the text from beginning o the end of primarily the prophets.  He then PATTERNED the pattern by decently and in order SITTING DOWN and waiting for discussion.

To this Socrates replied: “Antiphon, it is common opinion among us

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship: The Churches of Christ are not Calvinist in their soteriology (theology of how to be saved) but we are culturally Calvinists. Most of our early preachers were Presbyterians or Baptists (back when Baptists were largely TULIP Calvinists), and most of our “converts” came from various Baptist factions. Our approach to building design, “reverence” in worship, our distaste for stained glass, and such like all trace back to our Calvinist roots.

On Adult Baptism John Calvin said that the Remission of Sins was promised only by baptism: he attributed a lot more to Baptism than the Campbells but Alexander agrees that Calvin could be a CAMPBELLITE.

25 not neglecting to meet together [episunagōgēn ], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

In other words, how can you encourage someone else (the voice is active)? One approach is to recognize that in your congregation there is a new spirit/Spirit of worship emerging. Members are slowly becoming more expressive. They are feeling free to feel the words, to truly mean the lyrics.

But only a few. Most of those present are, for reasons they don’t understand, trapped in a legalistic, culturally and emotionally stunted form of expression. They feel its wrongness in their cores, but don’t know how to escape. In fact, they worry that it might somehow be wrong to give into these Spirit-prompted impulses.

The church leaders are not going to shut down a little clapping or hands-raising, but neither are they going to push these new postures either. “Let the Spirit lead where it wills” would be a common attitude for a transitional church such as this one.

Therefore, lead your fellow members by expressing what you feel, by assuming whatever posture the Spirit wants to lead you toward, by encouraging others who need to feel permission by seeing an older, respected woman enjoying the freedom that God has given her. Let the Spirit lead through you.

Obviously, freedom can be abused, but you are not going to be the one abusing it. You are too godly and too Spirit-led for that to be an issue. (I just had to say it because there’s always a reader concerned that we be explicit about the dangers of abuse. Yes; they exist. No; I’m not worried about them because I know you and trust the Spirit.)

After all, it makes no sense at all to disapprove of a cross in a window of the auditorium (as a “graven image”) while plasti-tacking paintings of the face of Jesus all over our children’s wings. (Thankfully, the women in our children’s program typically have a healthier understanding of these things than our preachers and elders.) It’s cultural, not theological, and therefore largely unconscious and unconsidered. We just know it must be wrong because that’s how it’s always been.

And because CENI is really about rationalizing the answer we want for reasons other than the CENI-stated reason, we use CENI to declare “lifting holy hands” unauthorized, when it’s really commanded, and to say that bowing is metaphorical, when I think Paul was being quite literal.

You see, our real goal is to have a nice assembly that is uncontrovertibly performed decently and in order — and hence only criticized by the young. And CENI can be made to fit any such need — all the while pushing the conversation into the hopelessly dense morass of “the laws of generic and specific authority,” which are so much more easily controlled than the Spirit.

You see, CENI is not only a rationalization for doing what we want, it’s also a mechanism for protecting us from the Spirit’s annoying habit of leading where the members aren’t ready to go. Anyone can cobble together a CENI-based argument against anything.

Maybe we should move the pews further apart so we have room to prostrate ourselves before God. Maybe we should even leave a dance  floor, to properly celebrate the return of God to his people and the coming of the Kingdom and the good news of the Kingdom of heaven.

Psalmos also appears in the LXX as equivalent to the Hebrew word neginah. This Hebrew term is used to describe a wide variety of songs. Neginah is translated by psalmos in Lam 3:14 (song), in Lam 5:14 (music) and in Ps 69:12 (song). It is striking to observe that in the LXX translation of Lam 3:14 and Ps 69:12, psalmos, or its verbal form, is used for songs that are not only uninspired but are in fact the product of the wicked, even drunkards, who mocked God and His word. The Hebrew term neginah is used elsewhere in the Hebrew Scriptures of: the songs of the wicked, Job 30:9 (song); the inspired praise of God, Psalm 61 title (Neginah-a song performed on a stringed instrument); and the uninspired praise of the Lord composed by King Hezekiah, Is 38:20 (my songs).

"Some of the psalms express a tribalistic hatred of foreign powers; even the beautiful laments of the exiles 'by the waters of Babylon,' for example, concludes with the assurance that the daughter of Babylon will be destroyed. 'Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth the little ones against the stones.'

"But in nearly a third of the collection the 'enemies' whose death the psalmist so confidently prays for and anticipates are not Gentile nations,

but individual Jews who do not share the religious conviction of the Hasidim (Pharisees). In the words of Psalm 58, 'the righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. So that a man shall say, Verily there is reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth." (Parkes, Henry Bamford, Gods and Men The Origins of Western Culture, p. 134, Knopf)

"Its (pipe = to love passionately) was apparently a secular instrument and is never listed in the temple orchestra;

only in Ps. 150:4 it is mentioned in a religious (but not ritual) function.
Its ethos was not blameless at all, ase we see from Genesis Rabbah 50: 'The angels said to Lot: 'There are players of the pipe (
organ) in the country, hence it ought to be destroyed.'" Its rabbinical identification with the aboda, the flute of the notorious Syrian bayaderes, emphasizes the erotic element which already the Hebrew name suggests." (Interpreters Dictionary of the Bible, p. 460, Abingdon).

"Only in Ps 150:3 is it (shophar) mentioned with most of the other really musical instruments. Hence, we must conclude that the function of the shophar was to make noise ; be it of earthly or of eschatological character, but not to make music.

After the destruction of the temple and the general banishment of all instrumental music,
the shophar alone survived, just because it was not a musical instrument." (Interpreters Dictionary of the Bible, p. 473, Abingdon).

The timbrel "was aa typical women's instrument. It is mentioned seventimes in the OT; thus it must have been very popular. Although it occurs in the Psalter and in religious hymns (Exod 15; Jer. 31:4),

it was not permitted in the temple. Its function in the Bible was restricted to secular or religious frolicking, cultic dances, or processions (e. g., II Sam. 6:5; 1I Chr. 13:4; Ps. 68:25). Its absence in the temple ritual was possible due to the strong female symbolism, which always accompanied the tambourine, and which made its use so popular at all fertility rites." (Interpreters Dictionary of the Bible, p. 474, Abingdon).

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship:  These ideas sound absurd, even terrifying to some, because we have in the Churches of Christ a clash with the ancient Near East culture, in which feelings are expressed physically. The Eastern people described in the Bible dance, clap, shout, sing, bow, prostrate themselves, and otherwise make their feelings a whole-body experience. They celebrate with everything they have.

Worship in a literal sense means to FALL ON YOUR FACE because you recognize that God is not a sexually active teenage girl.

Matthew 27:29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head,
and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him,
and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
Matthew 27:28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
Matthew 27:31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him,
and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship: But our cultural roots trace back to Northern Europe, Geneva and Scotland especially, and these are cultures that separate the emotions from the body, indeed, that often distrust the emotions. It’s the Westerners/Northern European who want a “rational” answer when none is really needed. Why not just act the way you feel, when what you feel is worship?

And most recorded history believed that they got the idea of Reverence by being a Child of the Almighty or by reading the Word or by understanding the PERSONA of body worshipers. None of the end time sowers of discord read the TEXT:

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship: No First Century Jew would ask for a rational reason to dance or to lift his hands toward heaven. What is rational about feeling the love of God? What is rational about knowing that God has come to his throne, bringing good news of the salvation of the nations? What is rational about –

There is no example of a Jew lifting his hands toward heaven other than by the worshipers of stars, fire and serpents.
The message is to TURN UP YOUR PALMS as Jews and Muslims do meaning "I am speaking according to YOUR Word." Only women waved their arms which meant TAKE ME: I AM AVAILABLE.

That may be true but Christ in the prophets said that the Jews had a covenant with Death and With Hell. Only the high priest was permitted to turn up his PALMS as if reading the Word.  Waving arms around in the air always meant "Here I am: take me."

(Mat 22:37-38 ESV)  37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  38 This is the great and first commandment.”

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship: If I truly felt this kind of love for God, why would I need permission or book, chapter, and verse to maybe find pleasure in a praise song and just possibly smile — and even clap in the happiest parts?

"Erotic dance was a sacred ritual in ancient Egypt, common in fertility rituals and sex magick. The most famous was the erotic dance of the priestesses of Het Heret [whom the Greeks called Hathor], but also common in the temples of Bast, Aset [Isis], and Nuit.

"During the erotic dance ritual, the priestess would actually become the Goddess in all Her glory. According to the ancient texts, during the erotic dance ritual the priestesses would achieve visionary orgasm in which great truths were revealed.

"Het Heret was the over-arching sky cow Goddess, associated with fertility and bounty and plenty. Married couples would go to the temples of Het Heret for fertility rites that would hopefully lead to a successful pregnancy. The temples were filled with sweet smelling incense.

Typically sweets and red beer or golden ale would flow freely.
The priestesses of Het Heret would dance to the
rhythms of live drumming.
When the couples were sufficiently aroused, they would engage in sexual intercourse
on comfortable pillows.

"The priestesses would often enter into an altered state of consciousness during erotic dance, becoming the Goddess manifest in human form. On occassion the priestesses would experience compelling spiritual visions while in this eroticly charged state.

Heredotus II notes that "The following are the proceedings on occasion of the assembly at Bubastis:-

Men and women come sailing all together, vast numbers in each boat, many of the women with castanets, which they strike, while some of the men pipe during the whole time of the voyage; the remainder of the voyagers,
........ male and female, sing the while, and make a clapping with their hands.
........ When they arrive opposite any of the towns upon the banks of the stream,
........ they approach the shore, and, while some of the women continue to play and sing,

others call aloud to the females of the place and load them with abuse, while a certain number dance, and some standing up uncover themselves. After proceeding in this way all along the river-course, they reach Bubastis, where they celebrate the feast with abundant sacrifices.
........ More grape-wine is consumed at this festival than in all the rest of the year besides.

The number of those who attend, counting only the men and women and omitting the children, amounts, according to the native reports, to seven hundred thousand.

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship: But our culture demands a reason and a rationale. In fact, we’d really prefer to worship in response to a command rather than being asked to decide for ourselves how to respond to God’s salvation. We are truly an emotionally stunted people.

(Psa 149:1-5 ESV) Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly!  2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!  3 Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!  4 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.  5 Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds.

Being abandoned to worship the starry host, David wanted to praise (make self vile) in the FIRMAMENT. In Psalm 149 in his devotion to Apollyon and Dionysus he wanted to GET IN BED with His God who was never Jehovah the RATIONAL or LOGOS principle of the universe.

When the preachers say that there was nothing wrong with the worship condemned by Amos but a BAD MENTAL ATTITUDE they forget to tell you that both father and mother went into the same temple prostitute. David was before the temple but the singers and players playing around any sacrificial altar were prostitutes and Sodomites often permitted holy whores.

Apis the golden calf or calves represented Osiris, Isis and Horus: the pagan trinity of father, mother and son.

Horus was the posthumous son and heir of the god Osiris, the primordial king and giver of life. He was invited by his uncle, Seth, to spend a day. Seth’s real motive was not to show him hospitality but to disqualify him from inheriting his father’s royal power. To this end, while Horus slept Seth committed an act of sodomy upon him. Since sodomy was inflicted as a punishment on a defeated enemy and was a symbol of domination, Seth could then claim that he had conquered Horus and demand the kingship in his place.

Historically, the rape of males was more widely recognized in ancient times. Several of the legends in Greek mythology involved abductions and sexual assaults of males by other males or gods. The rape of a defeated male enemy was considered the special right of the victorious soldier in some societies and was a signal of the totality of the defeat. There was a widespread belief that a male who was sexually penetrated, even if it was by forced sexual assault, thus "lost his manhood," and could no longer be a warrior or ruler. Gang rape of a male was considered an ultimate form of punishment and, as such, was known to the Romans as punishment for adultery and the Persians and Iranians as punishment for violation of the sanctity of the harem (Donaldson, 1990). Must ye always rejoice, and go into my holy places continually, as they that keep a feast? and must ye go with a PIPE, as those that rejoice into the mountain of the Lord, to the God of Israel Isaiah 30:29 LXX

"The ritual observances at the Hebrew and at a Canaanite sanctuary were so similar that to the mass of the people Jehovah worship and Baal worship were not separated by any well-marked line...

A sacrifice was a public ceremony of a township or clan... Then the crowds streamed into the sanctuary from all sides, dressed in their gayest attire, marching joyfully to the sound of music, and bearing with them not only the victims appointed for sacrifice, but store of bread and wine set forth the feast... Universal hilarity prevailed." (Gurney, O.R., Some Aspects of Hittite Religion, p. 37, Oxford University Press, 1977)

"Many of the Psalms are expressive of the parade dance, or dance procession, in a way which show it to have been the characteristic form of the festival (Psalms 30:12, 87:7, 149:3, 150:4; Is. 30:29) and that this was where many of the Psalms were used." ( W. O. E. Osterley, The Sacred Dance (Cambridge: N. P., 1923), p. 94)

Rabbinic tradition speaks particularly of a torch dance by night at the water pouring ceremony at the Feast of Tabernacles: It was said that the gladness there was above everything. Pious men danced with torches in their hands and sang songs of joy and praised,

while the Levites played all sorts of instruments. The dance drew great crowds of spectators for whom grandstands had been erected. It did not end until the morning at a given sign, when water from the spring of Shiloh was poured over the altar. This is certainly not the invention of later Jewish times, but a very old tradition" ( W. O. E. Osterley, The Sacred Dance (Cambridge: N. P., 1923), p. 94)

for although it has been well said that human beings then act most like the gods when they are doing good to others,

yet one might better say, when they are happy; and such happiness consists of rejoicing, celebrating festivals, pursuing philosophy, and engaging in music;
........... for, if music is perverted when musicians turn their art to sensual delights

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship: but the real point is deeper than that. Paul wants us to worship with all our hearts (Eph 5:19) or all our being (Psa 108:1). He’s calling for a level of passion that measures up to the greatness of God.

The command is to SPEAK that which is written for our learning
BUT, ODE and PSALLO IN (place) our hearts which means keep it silent silly Jesus is speaking IF you have an APT elder.
LEXIS is the opposite of ODE and ODE is the opposite of LEXIS
Psallo is a "making war or making perverted love word" and has no musical meaning:  Apollyon is the father of musical harmony and homosexual worship.

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship:  Why does David declare that he will “awake the dawn” with music? Because he intends his worship to begin when he wakes up, and he’ll continue with his worship until he falls asleep that night. His worship will be from his entire being because he loves God with his entire being. It’s an all-day posture.

David was not a Preacher or Worship Minister: he was a KING and the Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned Levites were under the kings and commanders of the army: they made war and many psalms were warrior taunt songs that the enemy gets the HORUS treatment before being murdered.

David was abandoned to worship the starry host including Abaddon or Apollyon from beginning to the end.

Pindar, Nemean, 9 [6] There is a saying among men: a noble deed when it is accomplished should not be buried silently in the ground; and divine song is suited to boasting. But we will wake the shouting lyre and the flute in honor of the very pinnacle of horse-contests, which Adrastus established for Phoebus [Apollo] by the streams of the Asopus. Father Zeus, I pray that I may celebrate this excellence by the favor of the Graces, and excel many poets in honoring victory with my verses, [55] throwing my shaft nearest of all to the mark of the Muses.

His shaft was not a spear for heaven's sake.

Psalms 57:8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
Psalms 108:2 Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

We even have a mention at a later date of a similar custom in connection with the cult in Jerusalem, where certain Levites, called me'oreim, 'arousers," sang every morning this verse from Ps 44: 'Awake, Lord, awake! Do not abandon us for ever." The Talmud tells us that Johy Hyrcanus suppressed the practice because it recalled too readily a pagan custom.

Psalms 44:23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
Psalms 44:24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

A similar practice is attested in connection with the cult of Herakles-Melkart. According to Menander, as he is quoted by Josephus, the king Hiram, who was a contemporary of Solomon, rebuilt the temples of Tyre and, 'he was the first to celebrate the awakening of Heracles in the month of Peritius." (de Vaux, p. 247)

This was the personification of Lucifer whom Christ called the "singing and harp-playing harlot" in the gardenof Eden

In an inscription from Cyprus, in one from Rhodes and in several from around the district of Carthage, there are references to important personages who bear the title Mqm"lm which we can translate as 'arouser of the god." (de Vaux, p. 247).

Habakkuk 2:20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.

Silence can only be understood by the use of lexicons to see how the word is used: God always silences all of the works of human hands so that HE can speak when the elders teach that which has been taught.

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship:  And this is the root of our number one favorite proof text about how to worship. My suggestion is that we obey it.

(Heb 10:24-25 ESV)  24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,  25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

In other words, how can you encourage someone else (the voice is active)? One approach is to recognize that in your congregation there is a new spirit/Spirit of worship emerging. Members are slowly becoming more expressive. They are feeling free to feel the words, to truly mean the lyrics.

No one was ever so ignorant that they did not know that instrumental sounds DISTURBED or created the laded burden Jesus removed: instrumental sounds do NOT encourage anyone but the FORE HIRE HIRELINGS. The Jews refused to listen to God, rose up in PLAY meaning playing instruments and playing with one another. They were made blind and deaf and could not even HEAR the Word when it was READ (that one piece pattern) in the synagogue each REST Day. The END TIMES are hear and we are having the final shaking:

Hebrews 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
Hebrews 12:27 And this word, Yet once more,

And, indeed, we have constantly heard from men of the greatest eminence and learning, that the study of other sciences was made up of learning, and rules, and regular method; but that a poet was such by the unassisted work of nature, and was moved by the vigour of his own mind, and was inspired, as it were, by some divine wrath. Wherefore rightly does our own great Ennius call poets holy; because they seem to be recommended to us by some especial gift, as it were, and liberality of the gods

LLO, ABADDON OR APOLLYON IS THE KING OF THE LOCUSTS OR MUSES:

PAUSANIAS ATTICA [1.2.5]  One of the porticoes contains shrines of gods, and a
gymnasium called that of Hermes.

In it is the house of Pulytion, at which it is said that a mystic rite was performed by the most notable Athenians, parodying the Eleusinian mysteries.

But in my time it was devoted to the worship of Dionysus. This Dionysus they call Melpomenus (Minstrel), on the same principle as they call Apollo Musegetes (Leader of the Muses). Here there are images of Athena Paeonia (Healer), of Zeus, of Mnemosyne (Memory) and of the Muses, an Apollo, the votive offering and work of Eubulides, and Acratus, a daemon attendant upon Apollo; it is only a face of him worked into the wall.

After the precinct of Apollo is a building that contains earthen ware images, Amphictyon, king of Athens, feasting Dionysus and other gods.

Acts 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

-[1.1.4] The Athenians have also another harbor, at Munychia, with a temple of Artemis of Munychia, and yet another at Phalerum, as I have already stated, and near it is a sanctuary of Demeter. Here there is also a temple of Athena Sciras, and one of Zeus some distance away, and altars of the gods named Unknown.
and of heroes, and of the children of Theseus and Phalerus; for this Phalerus is said by the Athenians to have sailed with Jason to Colchis. There is also an altar of Androgeos, son of Minos, though it is called that of Heros; those, however, who pay special attention to the study of their country's antiquities know that it belongs to Androgeos.

Andro'geus  Propertius (2.1. 64) relates that Androgeus was restored to life by Aesculapius. He was worshipped in Attica as a hero, an altar was erected to him in the port of Phalerus (Paus. 1.1.4), and games, androgeōnia, were celebrated in his honour every year in the Cerameicus. (Dict. of Ant. s. v. Androgeōnia.) He was also worshipped under the name Euruguēs, i. e. he who ploughs or possesses extensive fields, whence it has been inferred that originally Androgeus was worshipped as the introducer of agriculture into Attica.

Let us ask some priest or prophet, or some reader of dreams (for dreams, too, are of Jove) who can tell us why Phoebus Apollo is so angry, and say whether it is for some vow that we have broken,

or hecatomb that we have not offered, and whether he will accept the savour of lambs and goats without blemish, so as to take away the plague from us."

Thus through the livelong day to the going down of the sun they feasted, and every one had his full share, so that all were satisfied.

Apollo struck his lyre, and the Muses lifted up their sweet voices, calling and answering one another.

But when the sun's glorious light had faded, they went home to bed, each in his own abode, which lame Vulcan with his consummate skill had fashioned for them. So Jove, the Olympian Lord of Thunder, hied him to the bed in which he always slept; and when he had got on to it he went to sleep, with Juno of the golden throne by his side.

Jay Guin Dancing in Worship:  Therefore, lead your fellow members by expressing what you feel, by assuming whatever posture the Spirit wants to lead you toward, by encouraging others who need to feel permission by seeing an older, respected woman enjoying the freedom that God has given her.
