The mass meeting is also necessary for the reason that in it the individual, who at first while becoming a supporter of a young movement, feels lonely and easily succumbs to the fear of being alone, for the first time gets the picture of a larger community, which in most people has a strengthening, encouraging effect.
The same man, within a company or a battalion, surrounded by all his comrades, would set out on an attack with a lighter heart than if left entirely on his own. In the crowd he always feels somewhat sheltered, even if a thousand reasons actually argue against it.But the community of the great demonstration not only strengthens the individual, it also unites and helps to create an esprit de corps. Eve or ZOE is the prototype of questioning the WORD of God as authority. Many scholars have noted the conflict between DIALOG and the WORD which was commanded for the synagogue or "church in the wilderness" and the charismatic, effeminate rituals which have and will always prevail when pseudo-scholars traffic the idea that Paul was simply confused:

Claiming to be scientists they claim that the post-modern era demands that interpreting the Bible must be yanked back under the hands of SCHOLARS. Only the COMMUNITY (commune) has the right to interpret using the GROUP MIND. But, we have looked at enough SELF-PROMOTED scholars to understand what Jesus meant when He accused them of TAKING AWAY the key to knowledge. Quoting from their book:

THE SPIRITUAL INTERPRETATION OF THIS GOSPEL.

25. But what it is to find Christ in such poverty, and what his swaddling clothes and manger signify, are explained in the previous Gospel; that his poverty teaches how we should find him in our neighbors, the lowliest and the most needy; and his swaddling clothes are the holy Scriptures;
that in actual life we should incline to the needy; and in our studies and contemplative life only to the Scriptures; in order that Christ alone may become the man of both lives and that he may everywhere stand before us.
We should shun the books of Aristotle, of the pope, and of all men, or read them in a way that we do not seek the edification of the soul in them; but with them make use of the time and this life, as one teaches a trade or civil law.
However it is not in vain that St. Luke places Mary before Joseph, and both of them before the child and says: "And they found both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger."
In Martin Luther's words, just as a mother goes to the cradle only to find the baby, we go to the Bible only to find Christ. It is the Bible's primary purpose to bring men to their Savior by arousing the beginnings of faith. But this is not the only practical function it aims to fulfil. Peter and the author of the letter to the Hebrews use the analogy of birth and growth to illustrate a further purpose of Scripture. Those who have put their trust in Jesus as Saviour 'have been born anew' through the living and abiding word of God' : but, like all new-born babes, they must ' long for the pure spiritual milk' of the word if they are to survive and grow; and once beyond babyhood they need solid food - which is the meat of God's word.( 1Peter1 :23/1 Peter 2:2/Hebrews5 :12 -14).
This growth process is above all, a growing up in relationship with God. It is the Bible's function to feed the personal knowledge of the Father which the Christian child enjoys. And enjoy is exactly the right word, because as the believer learns more about of his delight becomes more intense. That is why Bible study should never be dull for a Christian. 'Your words' cries out Jeremiah , ' became to me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I am called by your name, O, Lord, God of hosts. ' Any personal relationship is fostered by words, and through the pages of the Bible the Christian hears God speaking to him; an experience, says the Psalmist, that is 'sweeter than honey' .
And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. Daniel 7:24
And he shall speak (poetically) great (as the embodiment of the adversary) words against the most High, and

And Zeno, the founder of the Stoic sect, says in this book of the Republic,
"that we ought to make neither temples nor images; for that no work is worthy of the gods."

First, we might remind you that Jesus repudiated the Doctors of the Law (Pharisees, Scribes, Hypocrites) because THEY TAKE AWAY THE KEY TO KNOWLEDGE. The Greek world identified their claim as that of SORCERERS and because they served NO FUNCTION they were universally called PARASITES.
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38
Walter Scott interpreted this to mean A holy spirit which is sanctified for the indwelling of the Mind of Christ which Peter wrote is the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 2).

The professional RE-INTERPRETERS (Pharisees) are identified by how many BURDENS they lade on you. Yes, INDIVIDUALS could comment on Scripture, but those comments were always for the LARGER hearing of the community.
Only after there was INDIVIDUAL access did there become an opportunity for an individual, isolated reading and interpretation that had no need or use for community.

God is the God of the EACH: believers do not come to him on BUS LOADS or "communes." The COMMUNE cannot hear for the each or believe or repent or confess or be baptized or WALK in the steps of Christ the Spirit. It was even prophesied that JESUS would not "call assemblies." In fact, little known by professional religionists, Jesus revealed a MOST VITAL meaning of the GOSPEL to a lone Samaritan woman. This revelation absolutely repudiates the WORSHIP in communes:
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain (PLACE), nor yet at Jerusalem, (PLACE) worship the Father. John 4:21
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship; for salvation is of the Jews. John 4:22

The woman puts DOCTORS OF THE LAW to shame: she understood that MESSIAH coming meant as a TEACHER of all things required:
The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. John 4:25

Jesus through the writing apostles made it possible for all of us to be as WISE as this woman:

True, we assemble or synagogue to learn and teach ONE ANOTHER the Words of God and we partake the Lord's Supper as we remember His death and GRIEVE OUT hymns along with Him. However, there was NO "Standing Army" within the church.
But, when the assembly went home, the CONTROL MACHINERY ceased. The only thing left would be an elder in each community who exercised hospitality, taught others and handed out charity for those passing through. Even if an Apostle claimed authority, after two or three days they got him a job or sent him packing. STAFF such as rhetoricians, sOPHISts (serpents), singers or musicians claimed the role of SORCERERS and were therefore all identified as PARASITES.
When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways." Ac.3:26
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Preaching TITHES AND OFFERINGS means that you have WOLVES living of the income of widows and hard working, already taxed believers.

The Fruits of Private Interpretation

SDA Michael Scheifler is of the opinion that each and every individual can interpret the Bible privately. Since some Catholics sometimes broach -- as a counter-argument -- 2 Peter 1:20, Michael Scheifler writes:
"Look at [2 Peter 1:19-2:1] very closely. No PROPHECY of the scripture is of any private interpretation. Does that say that the Bible is not to be privately read, interpreted, and understood by the laity?"
No, Peter said that preachers CANNOT privately interpret which means further expound. Because the example of Jesus, the example of Paul and the direct command to Timothy and the practice of the early church ANYONE who could read could TEACH and indeed that happened in the synagogues where school boys read. No one has any other authority but to SPEAK that which is written and there is NO PREACHER on the list offices.
The main problem, though, is that private interpretation must precede private inspiration. The thought that the laity should be allowed to interpret the Bible privately sprang up in the early part of the second century AD. What has private interpretation led to? To schism, to heresy, and to lots of sects. Just look at all those so-called "Christian denominations." They all claim to go by the Bible alone, yet none of them agrees with another on what the Bible means. Since the Protestant Reformation, thousands of sects and denominations have sprung up and have deceived and confused many Christians and others. That's what private interpretation results in.
I love to quote 1 Corinthians 1:10: "I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and in the same purpose." That does not at all sound like an allowance for private interpretation to me. If we all interpret for ourselves, will we ever be always united in the same mind? Certainly not.
He means that only the CATHOLIC COMMUNITY should interpret Scripture.
WELL, SO MUCH FOR "SCHOLARSHIP"On the contrary, before movable type most of the great church theologians had written and published their works. Many men such as Heredotus hand copied his text and attended trade fairs and sold copies. Others continued to copy so that there was no lack of access. The church chained the Bible to the pulpit to keep it from getting stolen.
Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. Ac.19:19
2. SORCERY AND WITCHCRAFT. "Pharmakeia." and homosexuality

"Pharmakon," was a drug and, "pharmakeia," the use of drugs. The noun "pharmakeia" occurs in Gal.5v20.
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Gal 5:20
Rev.9v21. 18v23.. "Sorcerer," "pharmakus," occurs in Rev.21v8.; and "pharmakos," in Rev.22v15.. "Mageia," "sorceries," in Acts.8v11. and "mageuo," "sorcery," in Act8v9.. "Magos," is translated as "sorcerer" in Acts.13v6,8.; and the plural "magi," as "wise men" in Mt.2v1,7,16. Sorcery and witchcraft in Paul's time were very similar to their modern equivalents; images of people were made and destroyed, and curses were put upon people by invoking the powers of darkness. In Paul's time, magic, divination, astrology and the occult powers mentioned in Deut.18v10-22., were commonly practised.
People were full of fear, and used amulets and charms in an effort to protect themselves from witchcraft, sorcery, magical spells and the evil eye. The value of the books on magic burned in the revival at Corinth was about Ł50,000, which shows how rife magical practices were in Paul's time. Acts.19v19. These occult practices were one of the main obstacles to the spread of the Gospel in the early Church, and this is why miracles were needed to confirm the truth of the Gospel.
Philip and Paul compelled the Gentiles to believe in Jesus, by doing greater miracles than the servants of Satan. Acts.8v4-13. 13v6-12. 18v11-20. Rom.15v18-21.
The Gutenberg bible was completed in about 1455.
But, "priests" were actually evangelists going out into all the world to teach. Schools were set up and the mass of church literature was well known. When there is no printing press individuals swarmed around the Scriptoriums to purchase parts of the Bible or even hand copy the.
However, Shelly and York see the divisive evil created when the "common people" were able to buy cheap copies. Versions were produced so that "even the plowman" could read and understand the Bible.

Rubel Shelly and John York: Just as identity in Christ is always COMMUNITY identity,
our reading of Scripture becomes a COMMUNITY READING as well.
While we still have access to reading as individuals,
we stop asking, "What does this mean to me?"--as though there is such an isolated meaning. Instead we have a GROUP MENTALITY that asks, "What does this mean to US?"

At the heart of this new "group-think" mentality were well-funded occult and illuminist organizations such as the Theosophical Society, Lucis Trust, and the Fabian Society, who ultimately promoted the concepts of Socialism into mainstream thought. In 1925, the Scopes Trial added the element of Darwinism into public consciousness, and the concept of "species survival" augmented the 19th Century notion of "Social Darwinism".
These philosophies, when blended into the attitudes and values of the masses of humanity, diminish the importance of the individual and elevate the virtues of the group. Biblically, this flies in the face of the doctrinal teachings of the New Testament, God's love and concern for the individual, and ultimately individual salvation.
At the same time, a group-think mentality promotes the false concepts of the "brotherhood of man", ecclesiastical unity, political globalism, and the sacrifice of individuals in order to insure "species survival" -even to the extent of mass genocide to eliminate the "feeble-minded" and other undesirable elements of society that may ultimately prove to be a threat to the species as a whole. 1. "Some groups, such as the Roman Catholic Church and the Jehovah's Witnesses, claim that their denomination's hierarchy must interpret scripture for the individual believer. Followers of these denominations often point to the disagreements among groups that don't claim to have an infallible interpreter as evidence that individuals need a hierarchy to interpret scripture for them. This is not a pooling of collective ignorance. The Bible is full of stories from ancient and often quite alien cultural settings and belief systems, and we cannot ignore those differences.
So we listen to the voices of scholarship just as we listen to the child who intuitively hears what God is saying in a particular story.
The JESUS SEMINAR depends much on the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas. This interesting document reads:

LT: Liberal Christians (e.g. many members of the United Church of Christ, the United Church of Canada, the liberal wings of the Episcopal Church and other denominations) view the Bible differently. Many of its leaders and ministers have accepted the findings of theologians such as the Jesus Seminar, using techniques of Biblical Criticism.
However, not much of this has filtered down to the ordinary member. Liberal theologians have abandoned the concept of biblical inerrancy. They view the Bible as having been written by authors who promoted differing religious views, reflecting the evolution of religious thought over about a 10 century time span.
SCHOLARSHIP does not grasp that "the because of transgression" at Mount Sinai was RISING UP TO PLAY. That was the musical worship of the Egyptian Triad. Because of this God removed THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT and burdened Israel with THE BOOK OF THE LAW. At the same time God turned them over to worship THE STARRY HOSTS. Much of the Old Testament is a REBUTTAL of the Babylon Harlot system which will be the END TIME church devoted to MUSIC and the performance of rhetoricians, sOPHISts (serpents), singers and musicians. No SCHOLAR will teach you that: you have to be baptized INTO Christ to become His disciple (and not the scholars) before you can READ the Old Testament without blinders (2 Cor 3)>
When Jesus went out to preach He did not call the "community." When He spoke of GIVING He insisted that the "community" had nothing to do with it. When He spoke of prayer He insisted that worship in the NEW PLACE of the HUMAN SPIRIT must be done totally alone just as only ONE priest could enter into the Most Holy Place. Paul never promised CUMMUNING but of SCATTERING and persecution. Jesus died to remove the COMMUNITY from off our backs so that we can come to Him and REST from "anxiety producing religious rituals." Jesus defined His presence in the ekklesia, synagogue or SCHOOL OF CHRIST as involving two or three gathered in HIS name and not in the name of a performing preacher or MUSICA team used to HURT people and call it the Holy Spirit. Peter outlawed such interpretation just as Jesus repudiated the Doctors of the Law. Peter was an EYE-WITNESS and therefore Shelly and York cannot be latter day apostles to deliver the Word in the form of a COMMUNE taxing people Jesus died to free. Burden as CEREMONY and extra TAXES is guaranteed when the CHURCH takes on the tasks which belong to Caesar:

The way to solve Romans 14 is not, according to Rubel Shelly, accomodate instrumental music. No. Paul defined the synagogue as the way for DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS to meet together in a SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE with the Spirit of Christ being the ONLY Teacher:

WHY REJECTING THE TEXT BLASPHEMES GOD

WHY IS IT THAT WE SHOULD REJOICE IN SOLA SCRIPTURA? It is either the words of Lord Jesus Christ through an inspired Apostle or it is through a SELF-PROCLAIMED LATTER DAY APOSTLE. Peter speaking for Lord Jesus Christ gave NO ONE the right to INTERPRET the Word. The command of the Word is to "teach the Word as it has been taught" without trying to INJECT false dogma by claiming to be the SECOND INCARNATION. What happened the FIRST TIME?
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any PRIVATE INTERPRETATION. 2 Pet 1:20

INTERPRETATION IS

What was Paul saying when he DEMANDED that the elders (as the pastor teachers) "teach that which has been taught" and "refute those who contradict it?" Do we need a COMMUNE with a GROUP MIND to explain what Peter meant?
Peter made it very clear but the Phds for which there was no "certificate of need" have to turn the Bible upside down or go down in history as taking from the poor. There is NO community which can with a straight face claim that THE AUDIENCE is incompetent and the GROUP MIND--led by the GROUP LEADER--must INTERPRET the Bible which needs little interpretation unless you INTEND to repudiate Jesus as the Living Word who supplied the Written Word.
Jesus outlawed the Doctors of the Law because they "took away the key to knowledge." Peter was given the keys but HE rejected the idea of continuing revelation. All of the rhetoricians, sOPHISts (serpents), singers, musicians and technikrats in the church fulfilled self-selected roles as SORCERERS. Revelation 18 reveals the fact that the harlot church will be LOADED DOWN with "ministers" pretending to fulfill these functions.
Because they performed no useful role they were deemed PARASITES. Pharisees (false preachers), Scribe (false book writers) and Hypocrites (actors, musicians). The deviant musicians tried to "make a place for themselves in the mainstreem" even though the CHARISMATICS both repulsed and attracted people like a TRAIN WRECK.

The Postmodern "scholars" totally deny that the Lord Jesus Christ had the POWER to purchase them with a PRICE and a MESSAGE of good news which could survive OUR culture. The Biblical facts can be perverted but they cannot be HAMMERED out of the Bible. Paul and peter laid down the MARK: you can tell FALSE TEACHERS if they refuse to teach the word "as it has been taught." Any modern sermonizing opens the door for the false teachers to come in: trained as PROPHETS, CHANELLERS and FACILITATORS. You say, Whoa! This cannot be happening among OUR scholars. Sure, you just read any of the stuff and it is like a game to see who can pervert the Bible and history the most: the winner gets to be SCHOLAR OF THE YEAR and all of the little scholarettes WILL NOT get their degrees unless they join in the circle. Don't let them take you captive. Read the Word.
Rubel Shelly and John York: While we still have access to reading as individuals, we stop asking, "What does this mean to me?"--as though there is such an isolated meaning.
Instead we have a GROUP MENTALITY that asks, "What does this mean to US?"
In outline, the Group Mind theory is that
1. Interested or concerned telepaths co-operate and communicate, sharing knowledge and experience with each other and with people who are unaware of what is taking place.
2. A hidden struggle is taking place by telepaths against those telepathic minds who dominate and manipulate others or who wish to do so.
3. Telepathic group minds are formed and reformed in accordance with what the group mind is concerned with. A group mind may be concerned with what a person is doing and this is that individual's Personal Group Mind.
4. There is a telepathic continuum which spans the planet, of telepathic group minds in contact with other group minds who are in turn in contact with still other group minds out of reach of the first group mind, and so on around the planet.
CARL JUNG (ANALYTICAL PSYCHOLOGY)
Jung called the unconscious part of the human mind the 'Personal Unconscious' and, like Freud, considered it to be the cause of complexes. Jung apparently concluded that 'the personal unconscious is composed of complexes which function as sub-personalities and which 'personate' in dreams and fantasies.' {17}
These complexes he considered to be independently capable of influencing consciousness without our being aware of them, saying <2>:
'an active complex puts us momentarily under a state of duress, of compulsive thinking and acting, for which under certain conditions the only appropriate term would be the judicial concept of diminished responsibility ... They slip just the wrong word into one's mouth, they make one forget the name of the person one is about to introduce, ...'
'... in certain psychoses when the complexes get "loud" and appear as "voices" having a thoroughly personal character'
What Jung called 'personal unconscious' appears to consist of component entities with independent feelings or thoughts which play parts, which impersonate, in dreams and fantasies, and which behave as if they were personalities.
Jung also suggested that there existed something else which he called 'Collective Unconscious' which he supposed to be made up of what he called 'archetypes'. He considered archetypes to be some kind of primitive mental images inherited from our earliest ancestors, examples being predator, sexual, enemy and hero archetypes. Later he had to elaborate this model by including also archetypes of archetypes.
Jung recorded that he heard voices {26}. He seems to have left reality further and further behind as he submerged himself into the primitive and savagely barbarian, in superstition, and in the brutality and viciousness of darker ages of humankind. Into a dark world in which pre-historic beasts wander and inhuman viciousness and brutality are common.
He considered that such primitive mental images can tell us what we should do and that they have the capacity to initiate and control common characteristic behaviour of human beings, being common to all humanity.
According to Jung, a dreaming person communicates with the collective unconscious, speaking to what Jung apparently called 'the two-million-year-old' man in us all. <1>
When Jung refers to a 'collective unconscious', he is referring to what could be primitive urges and behaviour which human beings subdue and control, and which human beings need to subdue and control.
Group mind, the term, is frequently used to denote the collective conscious of a specific group of people such as a tribe, village, or town, and which is the accumulation of their essential beliefs.
Usually the group mind occurs within a certain location, so the thoughts, fears, hopes, and desires of the inhabitants form a SPHERE of ENERGY that attaches itself to that area. The group mind influences the residents by DISPOSING them to the nature of the thought form, or mind set. This is the way people share a basic commonality.
The energy of the group mind can attach itself to physical objects such as buildings, statues, rocks, bodies of water, and so forth. It is believed that rock, metal, and water can best conduct and store this type of energy. Also it is thought that in ancient times a group mind would center itself within a ring of standing stones, or menhirs. (see Megaliths) Psychics do not like going among menhirs at night because of their strange powers. Some psychical researchers believe that the builders of the standing stones may have permeated energy, some powerful enough to knock people down, within them.
Some occultists claim to be able to sense or READ the group mind, or the thoughts, of the ancient builders through the ability of psychometry. A.G.H.

History shows that this began just outside of the garden of Eden where EVE became ZOE because she had been wholly seduced (Paul) as a bride is seduced before her husband gets a chance. Eve became the mediatrix and was and is worshipped in Gnosticism and Catholicism. So it probably isn't true that non-instrumental churches of Christ introduced all evils including bad breath. Such people have a problem with authority thought to begin with their mothers.

McCartney's pastor at the Boulder Valley Vineyard, Rev. James Ryle, whom McCartney says is the other major influence in his life, conducts a "prophetic" ministry and participates in conferences with men who claim to be prophets in the first-century sense of the term.
Ryle believes Promise Keepers, of which he is a board member, is the fulfillment of the Biblically prophesied end-time army described in the Book of Joel--
a terrifying army from which there is no escape.
"Promise Keepers urges men to form "accountability" groups of no more than five members, within which they are expected to submit all aspects of their lives to review and rebuke. Each member must answer any probes concerning his marriage, family, finances, sexuality, or business activity.
MUSIC AND THE GROUP MIND
The word "music" has no place in the Bible from beginning to the end except as related to those, such as the Pharisees and Saducees who REWROTE Scripture "for their culture" in order to bleed the widows of their mites.
"CHARISMATIC HYMM - a chant or song composed in a special vibrational frequency so that its tone and rhythm stir the emotions of each member of the gathering;
music is played extremely loud and the words are repetitious;
puts congregation in an altered-state-of-consciousness
and encourages one to
talk-in-tongues and to
rise up and
give prophecy. [cf. RAISE THE VIBRATIONS, MASS MUSIC].
- Rubel Shelly claims that the MUSICIANS can help "lead you into the presence of God." That, of course, replaces Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit.
- "Singing served as a means of inducing ecstatic prophecy (speaking in tongues).
- Thus the essential relationship between music and prophecy can be clearly seen.This relationship also explains why the expression for "making music" and "prophesying" was often identical in the ancient tongues. origen contra celsum 8.67.The Hebrew word Naba signifies not only "to prophesy" but also "to make music." (Quasten, Johannes, Music and Worship in Pagan and Christian Antiquity, p. 39)
The Corinthian women were susceptible to this because they were "just out of paganism" and because not a single person in Corinth had even the tiny Spiritual gift to solve their problems by making a decision:
"The Greeks sought the god's approval for any important decisions they had to make. They often went to the temple of Apollo at Delphi, where a priestess sat over a gas fissure in the volcanic rocks and
muttered unintelligible words of prophecy.
Other priests interpreted her words, which were supposed to come from Apollo himself.But the oracle usually gave people vague instructions that could mean almost anything--so that, no matter what happened, the priests could say she was right." (Sumrall, Lester, p. 75, Where was God when Pagan Religions Began, Thomas Nelson.)
In the book of Revelation Apollo is Abaddon or Apollyon. He comes to unleash the MUSICIANS or MUSES who were cast into the underworld as LOCUSTS or GRASSHOPPERS symbolic of musical performers.
-Strabo Geography [10.3.10] And on this account Plato, and even before his time the Pythagoreians, called philosophy music; and
- they say that the universe is constituted in accordance with harmony,
- assuming that every form of music is the work of the gods.
- And in this sense, also, the Muses are goddesses,
- and Apollo is leader of the Muses,
- and poetry as a whole is laudatory of the gods.
And by the same course of reasoning they also attribute to music the upbuilding of morals, believing that everything which tends to correct the mind is close to the gods.
Now most of the Greeks assigned to Dionysus, Apollo, Hecate, the Muses (9 women team), and above all to Demeter, everything of an orgiastic or Bacchic or choral nature, as well as the mystic element in initiations; and they give the name "Iacchus" not only to Dionysus but also to the leader-in-chief of the mysteries, who is the genius of Demeter.
And branch-bearing, choral dancing, and initiations are common elements in the worship of these gods.
As for the Muses and Apollo,the Muses (female pastors) preside over the choruses,
whereas Apollo presides both over these and the rites of divination.But all educated men, and especially the musicians, are ministers of the Muses;
and both these and those who have to do with divination are ministers of Apollo;
and the initiated and torch-bearers and hierophants, of Demeter; and the Sileni and Satyri and Bacchae, and also the Lenae and Thyiae and Mimallones and Naďdes and Nymphae and the beings called Tityri, of Dionysus.
So Judas came to the grove, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. Jn.18:3
The Greek hoplon can mean either an offensive weapon or an INSTRUMENT. In the same way, the Hebrew word Keliy is translated as both weapon and musical instrument.
In some cases the women were just filled up with air to an intoxicating level.
