Leonard Allen The Future of the Restoration Movement

Leonard Allen: Human history's basic and last task is the forming of a new community on the earth.
A community of the Lamb. Not market-driven, but mission-driven.
Not an in-group mentality that frets over preserving its traditions,
but an out-group mindset willing to lose itself
for the sake of the coming kingdom.
The Lamb's new nation will conquer, indeed, but by the very WAY of the Lamb,
the very WAY that Jesus lived and died-triumph through a cross.
What theologians call "traditions" is exactly what Holy Scripture defines both inclusively and exclusively.
Paul warned against strong delusions and lying wonders: the direct command is:
2Th. 2:13 ¶ But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you,
brethren beloved of the Lord,
because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through
sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: [Meaning A holy spirit]
2Th. 2:14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel,
to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Th. 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast,
and HOLD THE TRADTIONS WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN TAUGHT
whether by word, or our epistle.
IN FACT JESUS DIED TO FOUND A SCHOOL OF HIS WORD: HE TEACHES THE TWOS AND THREES WHEN THEY SHOW UP AT THE "CORNER STONE" WHICH IS ISOLATED, SILENT AND SECRET.
BY PROFESSION AND AGGRESSIVE ADVERSARY PROFESSOR HAS EXCLUDED HIMSELF FROM THE WAY THAT IS CALLED A SECT. IT IS FREE OF CHARGE AND ALMOST NO ONE CAN FIND IT.
Leonard Allen is much too late. The Prophets by the SPIRIT OF CHRIST defined the REST of Messiah both inclusively and exclusively. Jesus made those prophecies 'more certain' and Peter outlawed private interpretation or "further expounding."This would reputiate God's Holy Spirit.
Jer. 6:13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them
every one is given to covetousness; [The Christian SCHOOL provides NO MONEY]
and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
Jer. 6:14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Jer. 6:15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination?
Nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
Jer. 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the WAYS, and see,
and ask THE OLD PATHS ,
where is the good way, and WALK therein, and ye shall find REST for your souls.
But they said, We will not walk therein.
Jer. 6:17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying,
Hearken to the sound of the trumpet.
But they said, We will not hearken.
THE WAY THAT IS CALLED A SECT IS NARROW AND CANNOT BE BOUGHT, SEEN OR HEARD BY THE WORLD.
Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not,
John 17:8 For I have given unto them the WORDS which thou gavest me;
that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice,
because your names are written in heaven.
Heb. 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, [Church of Christ]
which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all,
and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Col. 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee,
and they have believed that thou didst send me.
John 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the WORLD,
but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
John 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world,
but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father,
keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me,
that they may be one, as we are.
John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name:
those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition;
that the scripture might be fulfilled.
John 17:13 And now come I to thee;
and these things I speak IN THE WORLD,
that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the WORLD HATH HATED THEM
because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
LYING ABOUT GOD AND ALEXANDER CAMPBELL FOR PROFIT.
Second, the failure of the original unity vision challenges our future. Nicholas Wolterstorff, a noted phi- losopher and deeply committed Christian, recently observed: "The thinkers of the Enlightenment hoped to bring about a rational consensus in place of fractured tradition. That hope has failed. In my judgment it was bound to fail. It could not succeed."? This judgment about the Enlightenment as an intellectual movement can also be applied to Christian movements like Alexander Campbell's that partook of the same spirit and envisioned a similar goal. Campbell and other early nineteenth-century restorationists hoped to bring about a rational consensus in place of a badly fractured Christian tradition. But that hope has failed.
Indeed, its failure has been apparent for several generations. Campbell's Movement itself, after all, spawned several new traditions, themselves reflecting the steadily growing pluralism and fragmentation of democratized

The Lunenburg Letters: Alexander Campbell was asked: Are there Christians Among the Sects: The statement by Campbell that induced the lady from Lunenburg to write the editor of the Harbinger is in an article entitled "Letters to England-No. 1," which was published in the June, 1837, issue. So that it may be kept in context, we give the entire paragraph preceding the statement and the paragraph in which the statement is found. The statement to which objection was raised is printed in bold capital letters so as to be easily identifiable.
1. Let me ask, in the first place, what could mean all that we have written upon the union of Christians on apostolic grounds,
had we taught that all Christians in the world were already united in our own community?2. And in the second place, why should we so often have quoted and applied to apostate Christendom what the Spirit saith to saints in Babylon--"Come out of her, my people, that you partake not of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues"--had we imagined that the Lord had no people beyond the pale of our communion!3. But let him that yet doubts, read the following passages from the Christian Baptist, April, 1825:--
"I have no idea of seeing, nor wish to see, the sects unite in one grand army.
This would be dangerous to our liberties and laws. For this the Saviour did not pray.
It is only the disciples dispersed among them that reason and benevolence would call out of them, "&c. &c. This looks very like our present opinion of Christians among the sects!!! 2d ed. Bethany, p. 85.4. Again, speaking of purity of speech in order to the union of Christians, we say,
"None of you [Christians] have ever yet attempted to show how Christians can be united on your principles.
You have often showed how they may be divided, and how each party may hold its own, but while you pray for the visible unity of the disciples, and advocate their visible disunity, we cannot understand you." March, 1827, vol. 4.5. Various essays and letters on "Christian union" from our correspondents, are given to our readers with our approbation; from one of which we quote these words:--
"I suppose all agree that among Christians of every name there are disciples of Jesus Christ, accepted of God in him, real members of his body, branches in the true vine, and therefore all one in Christ." October, 1826, vol. 4, p. 53.
6. ln a letter to Spencer Clack, August, 1826, I have said, "As to what you say concerning the evils of division among Christians, I have nothing to object. I sincerely deplore every division, and every sectarian feeling which now exists; and if I thought there was any man on this continent who would go farther than I to heal all divisions

Rubel Shelly and John York: Rubel: Let me give you an example to work with in relation to the question you've raised: homosexuality and the ordination of practicing homosexuals to ministry.
Why don't we at least entertain the possibility that the Bible simply reflects an ANCIENT TABOO or homophobic prejudice in a few people like Paul -- a taboo and prejudice we need to outgrow?
The failure has long been apparent, but it was hard to acknowledge.
For the theological tradition that shaped us required a RATIONAL consensus;
and it carried the deep assumption that every honest,
rational individual could-and would-READ the Bible alike.
That after all was a basic assumption of Baconian science and theology
as Campbell had articulated it;
and that assumption quickly became a hidden, ideological fixture in the Movement.
THE ONE-PIECE PATTERN FROM THE CHURCH IN THE WILDERNESS
IF YOU COLLECTED 100 SIXTH GRADERS AND LISTENED TO THEM READ, THEY WOULD ALL SPEAK THE SAME THINGS. IF NOT, THEN LEONARD ALLEN IS CLAIMING, AS HERMENEUTICS ASSERTS, THAT GOD, JESUS NOR THE EPISTLES COULD WRITE THE "REAL" MEANING.
Around 100 BC a long struggle ensued as the Pharisees tried to democratize the Jewish religion and remove it from the control of the Temple priests.
The Pharisees asserted that God could and should be worshiped even away from the Temple and outside Jerusalem. To the Pharisees, worship consisted not in bloody sacrifices--the practice of the Temple priests--but in prayer and in the study of God's law.
Hence the Pharisees fostered the synagogue as an institution of religious worship, outside and separate from the Temple. (Britannica Members)

Bacon and other like to use rational ways to determine whether the earth is round or flat. However, neither Campbell claimed that they could understand WITHOUT Scriptural Evidence.
British empiricists held that all knowledge has its origin in,
and is limited by, experience,
the Continental rationalists thought that knowledge has its foundation
in the scrutiny and orderly deployment of ideas and principles proper to the mind itself.
THE SIMPLE SIMON PATTERN IS SPEAK OR READ THAT WHICH IS WRITTEN FOR OUR LEARNING. GOD IS NOT STUPID.
Rather than beginning with church traditions, the early Restoration fathers, particularly Alexander Campbell, went directly to Scripture. Only after digesting Scriptural "particulars" did they draw conclusions.
We do not believe that Alexander Cambell used any kind of logic. Disciples do not presume to pass judgment on holy scripture.
John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them,

Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626), for example, said science could not advance unless it departed entirely from the inherited errors of the past and established "progressive stages of certainty."
THEOLOGY IS MYTHOLOGY AND INDEED IS FLAT-EARTH RESTORED.
THEOLOGIANS HATE BACON BECAUSE HE DEPRIVE THEM OF A SHEKEL TO HELP A HELPLESS GOD.
This speaks of a radical shift in epistemology, which is the study of how we come to know what we know. As supernaturalism eroded, the scholars dismissed "revelation" as a legitimate "way to know" since revelation supposedly originated in a supernatural Being -- God. Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626), for example, said science could not advance unless it departed entirely from the inherited errors of the past and established "progressive stages of certainty."

JESUS DEFINE HOLY SCRIPTURE FOR HIS KINGDOM OR CHURCH
Luke 22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is WRITTEN must yet be accomplished in me,
And he was reckoned among the transgressors:
FOR THE THINGS CONCERNING ME HAVE AN END
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you,
that all things must be fulfilled,
which were written in the law of Moses,
and in the prophets, and in the psalms,
CONCERNING ME.
Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand THE SCRIPTURES
Luke 24:46 And said unto them,
Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer,
and to rise from the dead the third day:
IF NOTHING ELSE, BACON OUTLAWED PICKING WIDOW'S AND STUDENT'S POCKETS
Bacon: "For where can I exert myself to better purpose or more honestly, where, too, in a matter at this time more necessary, than in attempting, according to my ability, to aid the Church of Christ, whose claims it is unlawful in any instance to deny, and which is now in grievous distress, and in extreme danger?
But there is no occasion for a long preface concerning myself. Receive what I say as you would do if it were pronounced by the united voice
of all those who either have already taken care to RESTORE THE CHURCH
or are desirous that it should be RESTORED to true order.
Those who, in the present day, have the name of PRELATES,
cannot prove their VOCATION by any laws, human or divine.
Be it, however, that in this respect both are on a footing,
still, unless they previously CONVICT the holy PROPHET of schism,
they will prove nothing against us by that specious title of church.I have thus mentioned one prophet as an example. But all the others declare that they had the same battle to fight -- wicked priests endeavoring to overwhelm them by a perversion of this term church.
And how did the apostles act? Was it not necessary for them,
in professing themselves the servants of Christ,
to declare war upon the synagogue?
And yet the office and dignity of the priesthood were not then lost.
But it will be said, that, though the prophets and apostles dissented from wicked priests in doctrine,
they still cultivated communion with them in sacrifices and prayers.
I admit they did, provided they were not forced into idolatry.
But which of the prophets do we read of as having ever sacrificed in Bethel?
Which of the faithful, do we suppose, communicated in impure sacrifices,
when the temple was polluted by Antiochus,
and profane rites were introduced into it?The Reasonableness of Christianity - John Lock
ITS A LIE: NO ONE BUT HISTORICAL THEOLOGIANS EVERY THOUGHT THAT THEY COULD UNDERSTAND WITHOUT REVELATION.
Sense and lust blinded their minds in some, and a careless inadvertency in others, and fearful apprehensions in most
(who either believed there were, or could not but suspect there might be, superior unknown beings)
gave them up into the hands of their priests to fill their heads with false notions of the deity,
and their worship with foolish rites, as they pleased;
and what dread or craft once began, devotion soon made sacred, and religion immutable.
But natural religion, in its full extent, was nowhere, that I know, taken care of by the force of natural reason. It should seem, by the little that has hitherto been done in it, that 'tis too hard a task for unassisted reason, to establish morality, in all its parts, upon its true foundations, with a clear and convincing light.
And 'tis at least a surer and shorter way, to the apprehensions of the vulgar, and mass of mankind,
that one manifestly sent from God, and coming with visible authority from him,
should, as a King and law-maker, tell them their duties, and require their obedience,
than leave it to the long, and sometimes intricate deductions of reason,
to be made out to them: such strains of reasonings the greatest
part of mankind have neither leisure to weigh,
nor, for want of education and use, skill to judge of.
And if, since that, the Christian philosophers have much outdone them, yet we may observe,
that the first knowledge of the truths they have added are,
owing to revelation; though as soon as they are heard and considered,
they are found to be agreeable to reason,
and such as can by no means be contradicted.
In this state of darkness and ignorance of the true God, vice and superstition held the world;
nor could any help be had or hoped for from reason, which could not be heard, and was judged to have nothing to do in the case (Refutes Calvinism):
- the priests every where,
- to secure their empire,
- having excluded reason from having anything to do in religion.
AN ASSEMBLY OF CHRIST WILL HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH READING HOLY SCRIPTURE BECAUSE THAT WAS THE SINGULAR PATTERN.
The great historian J. Robert Teringo wrote: "The fixed order of service began, after the customary greeting, with a prayer while the people remained standing facing the sacred Torah scroll. The reading of the law of Moses was next. The Torah scroll was taken from the chest and placed before a reader who read in the ancient Hebrew tongue and immediately translated it into Aramaic the language of those days. A commentary was always added to this reading. Next, a portion was read from the books of the prophets and, again, immediately translated verse by verse. After a closing prayer, the service was concluded...BECAUSE the Word, Logos or Regulative Principle and because it is RATIONAL it excludes personal opinions, personal experiences, preaching beyond READING the Word, singing, playing instruments or ACTING.
Because the Word, Logos or Regulative Principle and because it is RATIONAL it excludes personal opinions, personal experiences, preaching beyond READING the Word, singing, playing instruments or ACTING.
That assumption was questioned long ago by the Disciples of Christ, more recently by Christian Churches and Churches of Christ.

Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God,
and the power of his Christ:

The "Christian Church" became the faction and was responsible for the division.
The churches of Christ were no more a faction in remaining loyal to the New Testament than were Caleb and Joshua when they made a correct report of the spies.
For the most part Churches of Christ, and to some extent Christian Churches,
have continued to expect (and demand) a rational doctrinal consensus-
if not a consensus that triumphantly sweeps the Christian world
in a dawning millennium as Campbell envisioned,
at least one achieved in a small but faithful enclave of truth and rationality.

Allen would be surprised at how little active Disciples serving withing their reach even THINK about what is happening even at a Church of Christ across the street. The Disciples-Christian Churches simply LIE to God and about God. There is no command, example or remote inference of God's travel-limited people gathering to sing as a group with or without instruments. To the contrary, from the SERPO in the garden of Eden to the end-time Babylonian Mother of Harlots whose priests are "lusted after fruits" speaking, singing, playing instruments or "grinders" are called SORCERERS and they will be CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.
Jesus called the Scribes (book writers) and Pharisees (preachers), hypocrites by referencing Isaiah 29 and Ezekiel 33. God put these words into the MOUTH of Ezekiel. God told Ezekiel that the people treated Himself and Ezekiel the same way.

Not only has the Enlightenment hope for RATIONAL doctrinal consensus failed, but as Wolterstorff noted, it was bound to fail. It could not succeed.
For the Enlightenment epistemology was based on the erroneous assumptions
that context and community do not matter,
that one can stand free of tradition,
THEOLOGY IS MYTHOLOGY: THAT IS WHY GOD SENT HIS OWN APOSTLES OR SCRIBES SO THAT ANY RATIONAL PERSON (IN THEIR RIGHT MIND) CAN READ THAT WHICH IS WRITTEN FOR OURLEARNING
If Scripture is not free of Culture then the accusation is that God was INCOMPETENT.
If the traditions of MEN are capable of modifying Scripture the men who hallucinate anything beyond the printed text are encumberedand that the only path to truth is the unencumbered individual

A Disciple or student of Christ who has been baptized requesting A holy spirit can read that which theologians cannot read and don't even try:

If ye continue in my WORD, then are ye my DISCIPLES indeed;
John 8:32 And ye shall know the TRUTH, and the truth shall make you FREE.
With respect to the kingdom of Christ, both male and female are commanded to be silent "so that all can be SAFE and come to a knowledge." Only women who could be easily deluded would have any desire to perform or sel-exhibit. However, those rare females got well paid to convince everyone that their musical and gibberish was a god and they were the mediators.

And moreover everybody when listening to imitations is thrown into a corresponding state of feeling, even apart from the rhythms and tunes themselves [Called SORCERY]These assumptions were enormously powerful and attractive-and remain so for many people in the Stone-Campbell Movement-but they no longer stand. If nothing else, the sheer force of pluralism and fragmentation has overturned them.
We are being forced to recognize the boundedness and embeddedness that marks human life and human knowing.
Such recognition tempers the presumption (and indeed the arrogance) that has marked the modem spirit, and allows us to face more fully the way we actually come to our deepest convictions.Facing up to the failure of the Baconian hope for Christian UNITY
based on doctrinal consensus presents an enormous challenge
for many in Churches of Christ and in Christian Churches.
ALEXANDER CAMPBELL AND ALL READERS OF JOHN 17 NEVER UNITED BEYOND THE WORD.
Is. 59:15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey:
and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
Is. 59:16 And he saw that there WAS NO MAN,
and wondered that there was NO INTERCESSOR:
therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
Is. 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate,
and an helmet of salvation upon his head;
and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing,
and was clad with zeal as a cloke.
Is. 59:18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay,
fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies;
to the islands he will repay recompence.
Is. 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west,
and his glory from the rising of the sun.
When the enemy shall come in like a flood,
the Spirit OF the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
Is. 59:20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion,
and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
Is. 59:21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD;
My SPIRIT that is upon thee,
and my words which I have put in thy mouth,
shall not depart out of thy mouth,
nor out of the mouth of thy seed,
nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD,
from henceforth and for ever.

Matt. 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Please GET OVER IT: A Christian, Disciple or STUDENT of Christ does not NEED and will not TOLERATE spending time and money to watch weak, effeminate Worship PERFORMERS go their gig.
The Word or Logos is the Rational, Regulative Principle which outlaws personal opinions or experiences preaching, singing, playing instruments or acting. This is GOD in spoken and written words of what God has supplied for Spiritual or RATIONAL growth. Leonard Allen hates and falsely accuses because Campbell believed that God revealed so that any person could read and understand. To contradict that is to despise God and that is blasphemy.
No Christian ever sought UNITY based on DIVERSITY or different, contradicting and foolish practices. The only lust for unity has been for Instrumental churches BEGIN to use instruments (machines for doing hard work) and THEN we can be united. A Church is no larger than an isolated, independant congregation gathering to obey the wilderness command and practice to Rest, Read and Rehearse the Word of God only. The Civil or religious ekklesia or synagogue had no other PIECES to its PATTERN.
That does not stop Instrumentalists seeking to TRANSISTION peaceable churches to their denomination from "infiltrating and diverting" using a Leonard Allen. Honesty would be to LEAVE the historic Church of Christ and join some denomination. The confession of using "dissossiation" and lie about a youth's traditions in order to deceive them is causing tens of thousands to stumble: ONE is enough to get yourselv fitted for a millstone. Those who lie about God and Holy Scripture will not stop them from lying about the UNITY fetish.
The Lunenburg Letters: Alexander Campbell was asked: Are there Christians Among the Sects:
JUDGING from numerous letters received at this office, my reply to the sister from Lunenburg has given some pain to our brethren, and some pleasure to our sectarian friends. The builders up of the parties tauntingly say to our brethren,
"Then we are as safe as you," and "You are coming over to us, having now conceded the greatest of all points--viz. that immersion is not essential to a Christian." Some of our brethren seem to think that we have neutralized much that has been said on the importance of baptism for remission, and disarmed them of much of their artillery against the ignorance, error, and indifference of the times upon the whole subject of Christian duty and Christian privilege. Some of our brethren seem to think that we have neutralized much that has been said on the importance of baptism for remission, and disarmed them of much of their artillery against the ignorance, error, and indifference of the times upon the whole subject of Christian duty and Christian privilege.>I.With all despatch, then, I hasten to show that I haveneither conceded nor surrendered> any thing for which I ever contended; but that on the contrary, the opinion now expressed, whether true or false, is onethat I have always avowed>.
1. Let me ask, in the first place, what could mean all that we have written upon the union of Christians on APOSTOLIC grounds,>(Footnote in original reads: It is with us as old as baptism for the remission of sins, and this is at least as old as the "Christian Baptist." Read the first two numbers of that work.)
>It is also as old as John Calvin when he writes about John Calvin Who insists that Baptism is FOR the remission of sins without which one cannot be a Christian and indeed is a believeth not meaning treacherous.
had we taught that all Christians in the world were already united in our own community?
Apostles were chosen to publish the Doctrines of the Gospel OF the Kingdom, and no other person was ever an apostle except Paul and Jesus had to APPEAR to him and let him HEAR the voice of Jesus, and be promised future guidance to be an Apostle
Eph. 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph. 2:20 And are built upon [EDUCATED BY] the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph. 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Eph. 3:4 Whereby, when ye READ, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
Eph. 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men,
as it is now REVEALED unto his holy apostles and prophets by the SPIRIT;
SPIRIT is never a god or person: God puts His WORDS into the MOUTH of A Moses, the Prophets and Lastly Jesus. The Holy Spirit Comforter or Paraclete is Jesus Christ the Righteous. 1 John 2.
2Pet. 3:2 That ye may be mindful [the only worship IN the spirit]of the WORDS
which were spoken before by the holy prophets,
and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
Rom. 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel,
and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery,
which was kept secret since the world began,
Rom. 16:26 But now is made manifest,
and by the scriptures of the prophets,
according to the commandment of the everlasting God,
made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
2. And in the second place, why should we so often have quoted and applied to apostate Christendom what the Spirit saith to saints in Babylon--"Come out of her, my people, that you partake not of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues"--had we imagined that the Lord had no people beyond the pale of our communion!
Note, that he never endorses these sects but individuals within them who are already united spiritually.
6. ln a letter to Spencer Clack, August, 1826, I have said, "As to what you say concerning the evils of division among Christians, I have nothing to object. I sincerely deplore every division, and every sectarian feeling which now exists; and if I thought there was any man on this continent who would go farther than I to heal all divisions
and to unite all Christians on constitutional grounds, I would travel on foot a hundred miles to see him
and confess my faults to him." vol. 5, p. 15.
THE TWISTING OF CAMPBELL, ONCE TWISTED, CANNOT BE CONFESSED WITHOUT SELLING A FALSE CHRIST.
Put most simply, this failure strikes near the heart of THEIR TRADITIONS
to face up to it will require a fundamental reorientation.
There are resources for such reorientation within the tradition itself.
ALL of the practices Leonard Allen call "our tradition" or our "heritage" like a disease inherited from a more literate grandmother is called the by the Campbells and all historic denominations the APOSTOLIC TEACHINGS.
Rom. 16:25 Now to him that is of power to ESTABLISH you according to my GOSPEL,
and the preaching of [about] Jesus Christ,
according to the revelation of the mystery,
which was kept secret since the WORLD began,
Rom. 16:26 But now is made manifest,
and by the SCRIPTURES of the PROPHETS,
according to the commandment of the EVERLASTING GOD,
made known to all nations for the OBEDIENCE of faith
Leonard Allen and Cohorts have made that OBSOLETE because no one can RATIONALLY understand BLACK text on BROWN paper?
The Gospel when preached ENLISTS STUDENTS and then Baptizes them to give them A holy spirit or A good conscience WITHOUT WHICH no one can read the text and thus the NEW TRADITION do not smear their own imagination with Holy Scripture.
Col. 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the CHURCH:

IF LEONARD ALLEN CANNOT INTRODUCE A "DOCTRINE" AND DEFINE IT AS A TRADITION HE REPUDIATES JESUS CHRIST BY RESTING ON HISTORIC THEOLOGIANS.
Leonard Allen and the seduced LIPSCOMB tribe promote and fellowship the use of Instrumental Music in religious OBSERVATIONS.
Scripture proves that Lucifer the harp-singing prostitute brough musical instruments into the Garden and as Apollon He is the leader of His musicians
which literates understand as the LOCUSTS.
LEONARD ALLEN CALL refusing to BEGIN using Instruments known to induce KOMA proof of being sectarian and divisive.
Leonard Allen cannot find a single command, example or remote inference of God calling His peole out of their REST to engage in groop singing with or without instruments,.
Since even singing hymns did not begin until the end of the fourth century, Leonard Allen is out on a week branch to claim that Churches of Christ REMOVED instruments just to be mean and sectarian.
Heb. 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, [Church of a still in charge Christ]
which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Third, the new awareness of TRADITIONS and the role of creeds challenges our future.
To work at theological reorientation within a tradition,
it seems fair to say, one must first be conscious of having or being a tradition.
But in my experience of teaching in a seminary and in scores of congregations over many years,it has required a momentous and difficult step for people in Churches of Christ-and many in Christian Churches-to acknowledge that they are deeply part of a human tradition.
If you tell a lie often enough and INCULCATE a whole generation of preachers and elders they will not JUMP even while you boil the water. IF Leonard Anderson and tribe had the TRUTH they could just teach that:
The spirit of Christ, Jesus, Paul and everyone else DENIED that salvation rest on obedience by being baptized.
Jesus enjoyed and endorsed singing or instrumental music to replace His standing up to READ in the synagogue.
Jesus said that it doesn't matter what you name the BRIDE of Christ.
Jesus commanded that the Apostles organize organizations including many congregations.
This is because that very powerful and ever-present tradition had taught them that they were just New Testament Christians,
not part of any human, and hence "denominational," tradition'?Independent Christian Churches are taking the lead right now in this missional thrust among the Stone- Campbell churches.
They have launched a bold new church planting strategy for the twenty-first century,
and a growing number of Church of Christ leaders
are either partnering with them or seeking to emulate their vision.
The Stone-Campbell churches constitute only a small stream in the great flow of God's Kingdom on the earth. Some of the very language and terms of the intramural arguments and discussions which absorb us sound quite odd to the ears of many Christians today.
Every tradition, of course, has its in-house discussions, its distinctive emphases, and (to the eyes of outsiders) odd practices. That's okay. Such issues are worth arguing about-up to a point.
But it is long past time for all three of the Stone-Campbell traditions, not just the Disciples,
to acknowledge and openly participate
in the great stream of trinitarian Christian faith, a stream variously muddied and polluted, to be sure,
but a stream that nonetheless has pro- claimed

Paul silences male and female during the assembly which silences THEOLOGY or anything beyond READING or SPEAKING the Word only.
1Tim. 2:5 For there is ONE GOD,
and one mediator between God and men,
the MAN Christ Jesus;
There is no SPIRIT GOD to make the FATHER Intelligible. SPIRIT is never a person but the Mind or Mental disposition of God or Man. God puts His WORDS into the MOUTH of A Moses, the Prophets and Lastly His Son whom He made Both Lord and Christ
Paul is not speaking of the African concept of "little man Spirit) in the big man (me)." The inner man is not a person different from the outer man. The Spirit of the mind is the mental disposition or attitude of the mind.
Jonathan Edwards: Views rejecting the trinity of persons He could never publish:
"There are two more eminent and remarkable images of the triad among the creatures.
The one is in the Spiritual creation, the SOUL of man.There is the MIND,
and the understanding or idea, andthe Spirit of the mind as it is called in Scripture,
i.e., the disposition, the will or affection.The other is in the visible creation, viz., the Sun.
Restorationists like Churches of Christ and Christian Churches are usually tempted to think
of renewal as the return to or recovery of some past golden age that has slipped away.
But Ray Anderson got it nearly right, I think, when he wrote that
The [renewed] church does not emerge out of its past"
THEOLOGIANS NEEDING TO REPUDIATE THE CHRISTIAN SYSTEM MIGHT RE-EMERGE THEIR MOTHER'S LAST WILL AND TESTAMENTS. THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JESUS CAN BE HONORED BUT NEEDS NO RESTORATION. WHAT BECAME OF CHURCHES OF CHRIST RESTORED HOLY SCRIPTURES AND DEFINED:
CHURCH is a School of Christ
WORSHIP is reading and musing Holy Scriptures.
There is no organization beyond edification defined as "Education in the Ekklesia."
THE NEW COVENANT OR LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JESUS
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock,
over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers,
to feed the church of God,
which he hath purchased with his own [The Lord's] blood.
Matt. 26:28 For this is my blood of the NEW TESTAMENT
which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Mark 14:24 And he said unto them,
This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for manJer. 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD,
that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel,
and with the house of Judah:
Heb. 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers
in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt;
because they continued not in my covenant,
and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb. 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will
make with the house of Israel after those days,
saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind,
and write them in their hearts:
and I will be to them a God,
and they shall be to me a people::
Heb. 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant,
he hath made the first old.
Now that which decayeth and waxeth old
is ready to vanish away.
Heb. 12:24 And to Jesus the MEDIATOR of the new covenant,
and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them,
When ye have lifted up the Son of man,
then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
John 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
John 8:31 ¶ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The word REnewal demands a REturn to a previous condition. From the wilderness onward the Church of Christ (the Rock) as ekklesia or synagogue was a SCHOOL only of the WORD of God only. All church first remove the cunning craftsmen or sophists--speakers, singers, instrument players--SO THAT the Word can be SPOKEN and discussed.
Thomas Campbell Worship: Thomas Campbell, one of the leaders of the American Restoration Movement away from denominational organizations, placed reading the Word as one of the most important external acts of worship and nullified "yarn spinners" in keeping with Jesus and Paul:
"who, at the same time are ignorant of, and even averse to, the religion it inculcates; and whilst others profess to embrace it as a system of religion,
without imbibing the spirit, realizing the truth, and experiencing the power of its religious institutions; but merely superstruct to themselves, rest in, and are satisfied with, a form (acts) of godliness; and that, very often, a deficient, imperfect form, or such as their own imagination has devised;
"let us, with an open bible before us, distinguish and contemplate that religion which it enjoins and exhibits--I mean the religion of christianity, for it also exhibits the religion of Judaism;
.. .but with this, in the mean time,
. ..we christians have nothing directly to do--
...we derive our religion immediately from the New Testament.
The author and ultimate object of our holy religion, is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, by his Spirit, speaking in Christ and his holy apostles. "The principle of this holy religion within us, is faith, a correspondent faith; that is, a belief, or inwrought persuasion by, and according to, the word of truth,in all points corresponding to the revelation which God has made of himself through Jesus Christ by the Spirit. Hence, being rooted and grounded in the truth of this revelation, by faith in the divine testimony,
we contemplate and worship God inwardly;
that is, adore and reverence him in our souls, according to the characters and attributes under which he has revealed himself to us.Thus we worship the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit, relying upon his teachings in and by the word, to lead us into all the truth which he has testified for our edification and salvation;
and also upon his internal influence to excite, instruct, and comfort us, by the truth; to help our infirmities, and to enable us to think and pray as we ought, both as to the matter and manner of our prayers. See Rom. viii. 26, and Jude 22, 21, with a multitude of other scriptures.
Thus we have the internal religion, the habitual worship of the real believer, the sincere bible-taught christian with its principle; which is the faith above described. See Rom. x. 12-15.
the reading, I mean the musing upon, or studying the Holy Scriptures;
taking them up in their connexion, and meditating upon the subjects they propose to our consideration, with a fixed contemplation of the various and important objects which they present.This dutiful and religious use of the bible, (that most precious, sacred record of the wonderful works of God,
the only authentic source of all religious information,) is inseparably connected with, and indispensably necessary to, the blissful and all-important exercises of prayer and praise.
"And again, 'Be you filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves, in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always to God and the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Eph. v. 18-20.
"Hence it is evident, that if we would be spiritually minded, spiritually exercised in this delightful and heavenly employment,
- we must be filled with the Spirit;
- and if we would be filled with the Spirit,
- we must be filled with the word;
- the word of Christ must dwell in us richly;
- for we have no access to the Spirit but in and by the word.
When it attempts to do this it resorts to strategies of resuscitation rather than experiencing the power of resurrection. In its attempts to be contemporary the church usually arrives a decade, if not a generation, too late. The renewed church emerges in the present out of its future. As in the case of everything related to the creative life and power of God, the future of the church exists first and then its pre ent. '
This might be the best way to think about the future of the Restoration Movement. God's future.
A future already secured by the triumph of the bloodied Lamb (Revelation 5),
a triumph in which we see, by faith, how history will turn out.
THE KINGDOM HAS COME:

Is. 62:11 Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him
1Cor. 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have
delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father;
when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Cor. 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Cor. 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
1Cor. 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet.
But when he saith all things are put under him,
it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
1Cor. 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him,
then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him
that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
The new Creation by Jesus as an aion or messianic age could never be stopped until Jesus returns AGAIN and gives UP His Throne.
Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you,
That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God:
but to others in parables;
that seeing they might not see,
and hearing they might not understand.
Luke 9:2 And he sent them to preach the KINGDOM OF GOD and to heal the sick.
Luke 9:27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here,
which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John:
since that time the kingdom of God is preached,
and every man presseth into it
Luke 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees,
when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said,
The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for,
behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 18:36 Jesus answered,
My kingdom is not of this world:
if my kingdom were of this world,
then would my servants fight,
that I should not be delivered to the Jews:
but now is my kingdom not from hence.

The Hebrew term Abaddon has a Greek equivalent Apollyon (Greek: Ἀπολλύων, Apollyon), appears in the Bible as both a place of destruction and as the name of an angel. In the Hebrew Bible, abaddon is used with reference to a bottomless pit, often appearing alongside the place שאול (sheol), meaning the realm of the dead. In the New Testament Book of Revelation, an angel called Abaddon is described as the king of an army of locusts; his name is first transcribed in Greek (Revelation 9:11—"whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon" (Ἀβαδδὼν)), and then translated ("which in Greek means the Destroyer" (Ἀπολλύων, Apollyon)). The Latin Vulgate and the Douay Rheims Bible have additional notes (not present in the Greek text), "in Latin Exterminans", exterminans being the Latin word for "destroyer".WHO IS THE "DESTROYER"? ~ From Wikipedia
On Mount Olympus, Apollo Mousagetes was, in a certain sense, the choir leader of the Muses, although his attachment was not limited to music, as he fathered many children with his musical group. Calliope, the Muse of epic poetry, was the mother of Orpheus, the wonderfully gifted lyre player whose father was said by some to be Apollo himself.

"The Lyre, according to its primary significance, may by the psalmist be used figuratively for the Lord; accordingly to its secondary, for those who continually strike the chords of their souls under the direction of the Choir-master, the Lord. And if the people saved be called the lyre, it will be understood to be in consequence of their giving glory musically, through the inspiration of the Word and the knowledge of God, being struck by the Word so as to produce faith.
"You may take music in another way, as the ecclesiastical symphony at once of the law and the prophets, and the apostles along with the Gospel, and the harmony which obtained in each prophet, in the transitions of the persons. --(Clement of Alexandrian allegorizes instrumental music, Stromata, Book VI, Chapt XI, Ante-Nicene, II, p. 500).

2Pet. 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of,
that by the WORD of God the heavens were of old,
and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2Pet. 3:6 Whereby the WORLD that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
2Pet. 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now,
by the same WORD are kept in store,
reserved unto FIRE against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

* From Ze, "the" or "that," emir, "branch," and amit, "bearer," in the feminine. HESYCHIUS says that Semiramis is a name for a "wild pigeon." The above explanation of the original meaning of the name Semiramis, as referring to Noah's wild pigeon (for it was evidently a wild one, as the tame one would not have suited the experiment), may account for its application by the Greeks to any wild pigeon.

Manufacturing and services tended to be monopolized by professional guilds, including religious personnel specializing in sacrifices, oracles, divination, and other kinds of priestcraft. The mobility of such guilds throughout the entire area helps to explain the spread of specific religious ideas and techniques over great distances. Just as guild potters spread ceramic forms and methods, so also guild priests spread their religious concepts and practices from the Indian Ocean to the Aegean Sea, and from the Nile River to Central Asia. The Greek poet Homer, in the Odyssey, noted the mobility of guildsmen, mentioning religious personnel as well as architects, physicians, and minstrels. Guild priests called kohanim were found at ancient Ugarit on the Mediterranean coast of northern Syria as well as in Israel. Moreover, Mycenaean Greek (late Bronze Age) methods of sacrifice are similar to the Hebraic methods, which are preserved in many countries to this day in the traditional techniques of Jewish ritual slaughter.
The ancient Middle East constituted an ecumene. The term ecumene comes from the Greek word oikoumene, which means the inhabited world and designates a distinct cultural-historical community. The material effects of the commercial and cultural interconnections that permeated the component regions of the ancient Middle Eastern ecumene are richly supplied by archaeological excavations, which provide evidence of the spread of architectural, ceramic, metallurgical, and other products of ancient Middle Eastern man's industry.
"The ancient Middle East made a place for homosexuality and bestiality in its myths and rites. In the Asherah cult the qedeshim priests had a reputation for homosexual practices, even as the qedeshot priestesses for prostitution. Israel eventually banned both the qedeshim and qedeshot, while in Ugarit the and kohanim were priestly guilds in equally good standing. Baal is portrayed in Ugaritic mythology as impregnating a heifer to sire the young bull god. The biblical book of Leviticus (18:22--27) bans homosexuality and bestiality expressly because the Canaanite population had been practicing those rites, which the Hebrews rejected as abominations. Hor. S. 1.10.91 You that intend to write what is worthy to be read more than once, blot frequently: and take no pains to make the multitude admire you, content with a few [judicious] readers. What, would you be such a fool as to be ambitious that your verses should be taught in petty schools? That is not my case. It is enough for me, that the knight [Maecenas] applauds: as the courageous actress, Arbuscula, expressed herself, in contempt of the rest of the audience, when she was hissed [by the populace]

Hebrews 9 [8] The Holy Spirit is indicating this, that the way into the Holy Place wasn't yet revealed while the first tabernacle was still standing; [9] which is a symbol of the present age, where gifts and sacrifices are offered that are incapable, concerning the conscience, of making the worshipper perfect; [10] being only (with meats and drinks and various washings) fleshly ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation. [11] But Christ having come as a high priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, [12] nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption. [13] For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh: [14] how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? [15] For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, since a death has occurred for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, that those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
John 9[31] We know that God doesn't listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshipper of God, and does his will, he listens to him. [32] Since the world began it has never been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of someone born blind.

But by the mouth
To imitate the liquid notes of birds
Was earlier far 'mongst men than power to make,
By measured song, melodious verse and give
Delight to ears. And whistlings of the wind
Athrough the hollows of the reeds first taught
The peasantry to blow into the stalks
Of hollow hemlock-herb. Then bit by bit
They learned sweet plainings, such as pipe out-pours,
Beaten by finger-tips of singing men,
When heard through unpathed groves and forest deeps
And woodsy meadows, through the untrod haunts
Of shepherd folk and spots divinely still.
Thus time draws forward each and everything
Little by little unto the midst of men,
And reason uplifts it to the shores of light.
These tunes would soothe and glad the minds of mortals
When sated with food,- for songs are welcome then.
And often, lounging with friends in the soft grass
Beside a river of water, underneath
A big tree's branches, merrily they'd refresh
Their frames, with no vast outlay-
Cic. Sul. 16.45 Was the safety of any one of such consequence to me as to induce me to forget my own? or to make me contaminate the truth, which I had laid open, by any lie? Or do you suppose that I would assist any one by whom I thought that a cruel plot had been laid against the republic, and most especially against me the consul? But if I had been forgetful of my own severity and of my own virtue, was I so mad, as, when letters are things which have been devised for the sake of posterity, in order to be a protection against forgetfulness, to think that the fresh recollection of the whole senate could be beaten down by my journal?
