David Lipscomb Hell: A Final Word by Edward William Fudge
David Lipscomb Summer Celebration 2014 endorses Edward Fudge denying the clear Biblical Statement about HELL: he attributes his work to the introduction of instrumental music "in worship." Fittingly, instrumental music is always a prelude to God casting the craftsmen, singers and speakers ALIVE into the lake of fire BECAUSE they are called SORCERERS who had deceived thewhole world. Instrumental is not the SIN but the MARK of those Paul warned about in Ephesians as LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.
Jesus warned that Doctors of the Law TAKE AWAY THE KEY TO KNOWLEDGE: He called them Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. In Ezekiel 33 the spirit OF Christ who breathed into the prophets NAMES self-speakers for hire (hirelings), singers and instrument players. He says that they are the MARK of those who do not intend to SPEAK the Word, listen to the Word nor OBEY the Word. The Word is the LOGOS (Dabar) or the Regulative Principle. It outlaws preachers comments or opinions, singers or instrument players. Jesus said that God HIDES from the wise or Sophists who are speakers, singers, instrument players all defined as enchanters or SORCERERS (Revelation 18) and that is why they are destined to be CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.
Every author I found who promoted and defended the traditionalist view … generally believed four fundamental pillars to be true.
(1) The Old Testament says nothing about hell.
That would prove that self-speakers are not allowed to read BLACK text of BROWN paper. Paul in 2 Corinthians 3 says this was the result of the fall at Mount Sinai.
(2) Between the time of the Old and New Testaments, the doctrine of unending conscious torment developed from Old Testament principles. …
That would prove that they are ignorant of the prophets by Christ and a Church of Christ is built upon or EDUCATED by the Prophets and Apostles.
(3) New Testament writers follow Jesus and teach unending conscious torment.
That would be smart: It is to despise the Word of Jesus which means to BLASPHEME by saying that He was not smart nor ethical enough to say that the evil will be CAST DEAD upon the fires to be CONSUMED.
(4) The immortality of the soul requires unending conscious torment unless those in hell are restored to God and join him in heaven. … Either these pillars are true or they are not. (p. 65)
Edward Fudge: If we ask what the Old Testament says
about hell, meaning a place where people are kept alive to be tormented
forever, the answer will be “nothing.” … But if we go to the Old
Testament asking what it says about the end of the wicked, we will meet
our first great surprise. (p. 67)
Destruction
often speaks of the destruction of killing of the person so that they
cannot do harm: putting them in prison had the same effect:'

and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction,
until they be destroyed.
Deut. 7:24 And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand,
and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven:
there shall no man be able to stand before thee,
until thou have destroyed them.

There are TWO THREADS running through the Old Testament:
The Israelites had been turned over to worship the starry host because of musical idolatry (Acts 7)
The godly people attended ekklesia, synagogue, qahal or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the Wilderness.
The synagogue was:
Exclusive of Vocal or Instrumental Rejoicing or speaking your own words (Isaiah 58)
INCLUSIVE of Rest, Reading and Rehearsing the Word.
The Spirit OF Christ speaks through the PROPHETS and not through the Scribes which He called "the lying pen of the Scribes."

Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that PREACH him,
being READ in the synagogues every sabbath day.
Acts 23:34 And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;

In Ephesians 4 the elders as Pastor-teachers were to eject the cunning

because they are LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.
Mr Fudge denies
the God of His image to PUNISH those John calls Sorcerers (speakers,
singers, instrument players) who HAD deceived the whole world once: they
are to be CAST ALIVE INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.
BECAUSE MR. FUDGE LIES TO GOD, ABOUT GOD AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL BUY THE BOOK, he may be one of those ANGELS of "light" for which hell was prepared. Judas didn't know that he was the prophesied FRIEND in Revelation 41 to be marked with the SOP or PSALLO word to invite the Devil to INDWELL him. The Spiritus defines Abaddon or Apollyon who is the leader of the Muses or Locusts.
A Disciple of Christ is commanded to PREACH the WORD by READING the
Word for Comfort and Doctrine. Edward Fudge credits the book and himself
with the introduction of Instrumental Music knowing that it would
create a NEW SECTARIAN split known as The Progressive Church of
Christ. A Disciple of Christ does not make a profession out of
listing all of the "proofs" out of context needing to TRUMP those not
still ANTI-whatever.

The Bible speaks of Prophetic Types being cast alive into "hell" along with their harps and buried-alive harpists. They are treated as conscious. Edward Fudge has decided that his GOOD GOD will only punish them long enough to CONSUME or EXECUTE them. The body and soul (life) can be consumed but the spirit or mind is never said to be consumed.
Those who will be CONSUMED in this "hell" are ALWAYS those who have treated God as a lover or sugar-daddy who gives GIFTS to those who engage in Fertility Rituals: the praise singer is the world's OLDEST profession and he usually worked as the Second Oldest Profession where music was used to make people think that they had "experienced" their god when they had just been driven into wrath or ORGY which Paul guards against by having both men and women sit down and shut up to hear the WORD (regulative principle) being PREACHED by being READ. Paul defines the one-piece pattern "so that we might all be saved and come to a knowledge of the TRUTH.
At Mount Sinai Instrumental Idolatry caused God to take away The Book of The Covenant of Grace, impose the Law of Moses and sentence Israel back to Assyria and Babylon for the sentence of captivity and death.
The Jacob-Cursed and God-Abandoned Levites executed 3000 of the "brethren" for engaging in PLAY or the instrumental idolatry of the golden calf representing the always-pagan trinity of Osiris-Isis-Horus.
In Egyptian Mythology, Horus IS Lucifer'.In Isaiah 30 inspired by the Spirit OF Christ the MARKS of God casting His ENEMIES into "hell" are the sound of wind, string and percussion instruments. The universal connection with assualting God and destroying His REST by MUSIC is being cast on a bed of maggots to burn up and be CONSUMED. Consumption is MARKED by what Christ called the Singing and harp-playing prostitute in the garden of Eden. Being CAST as Profane is the word Chalal Ch2490 which is the same as David's praise word h1984 Halal which is the MARK of Lucifer h1966
Horus was the posthumous son and heir of the god Osiris, the primordial king and giver of life. He was invited by his uncle, Seth, to spend a day. Seth’s real motive was not to show him hospitality but to disqualify him from inheriting his father’s royal power. To this end, while Horus slept Seth committed an act of sodomy upon him. Since sodomy was inflicted as a punishment on a defeated enemy and was a symbol of domination, Seth could then claim that he had conquered Horus and demand the kingship in his place.
THE MESSAGE FROM THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST
And his breath [SPIRIT], as rushing water in a valley, reach reach as far as the neck, and be divided, to confound the nations for their vain error; error also shall pursue them and overtake them. Isaiah 30:28 LXX
Must ye always rejoice, and go into my holy places continually, as they that keep a feast? and must ye go with a pipe, as those that rejoice into the mountain of the Lord, to the God of Israel Isaiah 30:29 LXX
and the Lord shall make his glorious voice to be heard and the wrath of his arm, to make a display with wrath and anger and devouring flame: he shall lighten terribly, and his wrath shall be as water and violent hail. Isaiah 30:30 LXX
For by the voice of the Lord the Assyrians shall be overcome, even by the stroke where with he shall smite them. Isaiah 30:31 LXX
In 2 Chronicles 29 Hezekiah is removing the instruments of the Assyrians from the temple. However, the Levites returned to burning infants to Molech after Hezekiah was dead.
And it shall happen to him from every side, that they from whom their hope of assistance was, in which he trusted, themselves shall war against him in turn with drums and with harp. Isaiah 30:32 LXX
For thou shalt be required before thy time: has it been prepared for thee also to reign? nay, God has prepared for thee a deep trench, wood piled fire and much wood: the wrath of the Lord shall be as a trench kindled with sulphur. Isaiah 30:33 LXX
For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large:
........... the pile thereof is fire and much wood;
........... the breath (divine inspiration, spirit) of the Lord,
........... like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it. 30:33KJV
Edward thinks that hell annihialates the sinner: if so, why is there so much text about God punishing the evil for EVER AND EVER? Couldn't God have been as smart as we and just said: "The Evil will die like Rover."
Edward Fudge says that sinners are cast into the lak of fire THEN they are Executed: doesn't that insult God's grace? Cast into the Lake of Fire IS THE SECOND DEATH but the Spirit says they will suffer for ever and ever: Aions and Aions.

… when Jesus was teaching, there was no
such things as “the Jewish view” on hell, but rather there was a variety

on other subjects, was rooted in Old Testament revelation, which it
sometimes advanced but never contradicted. (p. 86)
A
CHURCH OF CHRIST IS BUILT UPON THE PROPHETS AND APOSTLES. The Jews as
the PATTERN for apostate churches of Christ had a COVENANT WITH HELL: it
was a place where not even God could hurt them. That covenant with
death is defined by amos as the MARZEAH which was a musical feast WITH
and FOR dead ancestors.
Is. 28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement;
when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us:
for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
Is. 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD,
Behold, I lay in Zion for a
foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure
foundation:
he that believeth shall not make haste.
Is. 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet:
and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
Is. 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled,
and your agreement with hell shall not stand;
when the overflowing scourge shall
pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
Is. 28:19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you:
for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night:
and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
Is. 28:20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it:
and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
Isaiah 28:21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon,
that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
Is. 28:22 Now therefore be ye not mockers,
lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts
a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

Speaking of the Instrumental music in worship condemned by Amos and others we note that:"The marzeah had an extremely long history extending at least from the 14th century B.C. through the Roman period. In the 14th century B.C., it was prominently associated with the ancient Canaanite city of Ugarit (modern Ras Shamra), on the coast of Syria... The marzeah was a pagan ritual that took the form of a social and religious association... Some scholars regard the funerary marzeah as a feast for--and with--deceased ancestors (or Rephaim, a proper name in the Bible for the inhabitants of Sheol)." (King, Biblical Archaeological Review, Aug, 1988, p. 35, 35)
"These five elements are: (1) reclining or relaxing, (2) eating a meat meal, (3) singing with harp or other musical accompaniment, (4) drinking wine and (5) anointing oneself with oil." (King, p. 37).
"Worship was form more than substance; consequently, conduct in the marketplace was totally unaffected by worship in the holy place. Amos spoke from the conviction that social justice is an integral part of the Mosaic covenant, which regulates relations not only between God and people, but also among people." (King, p. 44).
"In pagan traditions, musical instruments are invented by gods or demi-gods, such as titans. In the Bible, credit is assigned to antediluvian patriarchs, for example, the descendants of Cain in Genesis 4:21. There is no other biblical tradition about the invention of musical instruments." (Freedman, David Noel, Bible Review, Summer 1985, p. 51).
5. Jane Carter, Tulane U.: "Thiasos and Marzeah: Ancestor Cult in the Age of Homer"
Syssitia of Sparta and Crete very similar: music, singing, probably lyre in both places; very similar institution, apparently: the Marzeah of Syria-Palestine, a gathering of prominent men in a house with its own vineyard supply, hereditary membership, perhaps involving a cult of ancestors. 8th c.
Hebrew prophet Amos denounces the luxurious marzeah of Samaria with men reclining on ivory couches; common motifs on ivory plaques: winged guardians, women at window, grazing animals, themes of fertility & rebirth, life-death transitions; Aristotle noted similarity of syssitia of Carthage to those of Crete & Sparta; fragment of Alcman re andreion, singing of paian; a thiasos was involved in syssitia; LXX OT translates marzeah as thiasos; orgeones are members of thiasos or koinon; inscription found in Piraeus: in Phoenician, by Sidonians, ref to a koinon; similar scenes are found on Attic geometric krateres.
Apparently an aristocratic cult institution whose participants can expect to join ancestors in afterlife.
