Rick Atchley The Deal About Baptism
Rick Atchley hangs salvation only on a person's ability to believe: baptism does not contribute to salvation but to one's one faith. However, Christ in Isaiah and Jesus in person joined faith to AND obedience. The command from the wilderness onward was to PREACH the Word by READING the Word for Comfort and doctrine. That is to prevent anyone from "private interpretation" or "further expounding." That will guarantee that people can hear Jesus join FAITH to BAPTISM by the Greek word Kai. Any softening of the demand that a Disciple of Christ obey direct commands and approved examples to "walk in the steps of Jesus" who was clothed with the sins of humanity and was not reclothed until after His obedience in baptism where God acknowledged Him as a Son.
Only God will be able to explain to us the massed multitudes of theologians WORK at a major industry trying to be mediators in song and sermons get so anxious to explain why a believer need not OBEY God's direct command lest they upset Him. It is not possible for an isolated disciple to misunderstand "he that believeth AND is baptized shall be saved." However, theologians or doctors of the law become quite hostile and insist that one should TRUST their own power to believe but not in Jesus' connection with active obedience in being baptized for salvation or the remission of sins.` They may not know about the Prophetic Type in the prophets by the Spirit OF Christ or "he that believeth not shall be damned" is the Greek Apistos which does not COMPLY with what it may believe. The word speaks of being treacherous.
If Jesus was correct that doctors of the law take away the key to knowledge as some alien urge, why trust them when they quote part of a verse and then "fill in the blanks" with their own opinion. A herald as presbyter or Kerrux in civil society was to be punished if they did not deliver a message without altering it or charging for it on the receiving end. From the wilderness onward the Spirit of Christ (the Rock) commanded the PREACHING of the Word by READING the Word for comfort and doctrine. Groups organized around the Worship-as-opposed-to-Bible class are 27/7 WORKS dependant.

Rick Atchley: Baptism is a serious step in the life of a believer. It not only is a cleansing from sin, but also a close identification with Christ. Of course, there is no power in the water, the power is in a persons faith that God is connecting them to the cleansing blood of Christ through their expression of faith. It is an infusion of Gods grace and a powerful outward sign of a persons relationship to Jesus. By it, one publicly proclaims their identity with Christ rather than with the world.
Peter said that BAPTISM was necessary FOR the remission of sins and receiving A personal spirit made holy by the "washing away of sins." Peter also said that BAPTISM SAVES US. That ends the argument for Disciples of Christ. The question is HOW DOES BAPTISM SAVE? Peter said that Baptism is HOW we call on the Name of Christ REQUESTING A good conscience which is A holy spirit.
Study Guide, Part 1
Rick Atchley attempts to deny OBEDIENCE TO A COMMAND as a work by saying that baptims is JUST FAITH in action. While it is true that baptism is NOT A WORK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS which WE do, Rick and others do not hesitate to IMPOSE WORKS as somehow needed to Mediate in song or sermon to replace the command to PREACH the Word by READING the Word for Comfort and Doctrine and not paying theologians to do the thinking and mediating.

Rick Atchley: Jesus' View on Baptism Being Necessary
Matthew 3:13-17 - "You must baptize me _____________________________."
Let it be so, propert, to fulfill all righteouse. spirit lighting this is my son whom I love.
Jesus comes as a baptizer says John, why would jesus had not committed sins.
I must do all that is right. God was pleased. Behind believer is the baptizer because THIS IS RIGHT.
Jesus said that truth had been hidden in parables from the foundation of the world from those who pretended that THEY had ways of hearing God for themselves. That begins in Genesis 1 where Moses warns Israel which had fallen into musical idolatry and God had sentenced them to BEYOND BABYLON. Moses said that the Israelites refused to listen to him and became blind and deaf: Moses prophesied of another prophet like him. As the ANTITHESIS of the Babylon trinity worshipped as the "starry host" in Jerusalem Messiah would be the SON of a FATHER. The trinitarian folly has no choce but to fall into mother goddess worship.
Romans 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
Romans 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power,
according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship,
for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Romans 1:6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
Hebrews 5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears
unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect,
he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him
ALL pagan trinities consisted of father, mother (spirit) and little son. The perfectly clear MESSAGE was that Jesus was the Son of a Father and not the daughter of a mother. Doctors of the law take away the key to knowledge says Jesus and in Ezekiel Christ names self-preachers, singers and instrument players. Those who are maybe LITERALLY led by a spirit are under the domination of the Babylon mother of Harlots (Revelation 17) and here MINISTERS are self-speakers, singers and instrument players: John calls them SORCERERS using the same mark of the Babylon mother who HAD deceived the whole world. When you see these craftsmen, singers and instrument players it is the sign that Jesus has been there and gone and taken the lamps or seven spirits of Divine knowledge with Him.
A Church of Christ is built upon or EDUCATED by the Prophets by the Spirit OF Christ and the prophecies made more certain by Jesus of Nazareth and left for our "memory" by the eye-- and ear--witnesses. Peter said that resource is NOT subject to private interpretation or further expounding: that would DESPISE or blaspheme the Holy Spirit OF Christ which Peter said informed Jesus of Nazareth.
THE PROPHETIC TYPE OF MESSIAH
Messiah would come as the SEED of Abraham and therefore not a Divine Being: Jesus was MADE TO BE both Lord and Christ by the ONE God the Father. ALL of the sins would be HUNG ON HIM and He must be baptized BEFORE God pronounced Him as a Son.
Zech 3:1 AND he shewed me Joshua [Jesus] the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord,
and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
Zech 3:2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan;
even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee:
is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
Zech 3:3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
Zech 3:4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying,
Take away the filthy garments from him.
And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee,
and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
Zech 3:5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.
Zech 3:6 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,
Zech 3:7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge,
then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts,
and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
Zech 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at:
for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
Zech 3:9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold,
I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
Zech 3:10 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
You need to dispense with the rhetorical preaching and musicians and spend some weaks reading Zechariah. Too tired for now but In Chapter 3 we have the prophecy of the BRANCH and in chapter 6. As prefigured by Melchizedek, Messiah would be both King or ruller and Priest:
THE THRESHING SPIRIT IN ISAIAH 4Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory,
and shall sit and rule upon his throne;
and he shall be a priest upon his throne:
and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. Zec. 6:13

Is. 4:3 And it shall come to pass,
that he that is left in Zion,
and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy,
even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem
Is.4:4 When the Lord
1. shall have [b]washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion,
2. and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof
by the SPIRIT of judgment (wind to separate the chaff)
and by the SPIRIT of burning.
Isa 41:15 Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth:
thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small,
and shalt make the hills as chaff.

and the whirlwin shall scatter them:
and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 41:17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none,
and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them,
I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

The "breath" of God in His Word separates the "viper" race which was not "just" and therefore not capable of being baptized in Water. The masses of people at Pentecost were probably Edomites and always antagonistic to Christ Who warned them through the prophets whom they murdered. The wind separates the chaff from the grain and is constructive.

Rick Atchley: Jesus' View on the Relationship of Baptism to Faith
Mark 16:15-16 - Baptism is God promising remission of sins when we show faith in the gospel.
That's not what Jesus said:
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.The clear statements and commands of Jesus NEEDS no approval, explanation or misrepresentation because at heart some of the conversion events base salvation on FAITH and try to make Baptism just faith and not something Jesus commanded to be done IN ORDER for Him to remit sins.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth AND baptized shall be saved;

John 12:44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
Scripture if filled with evidence that FAITH or believing something is DEAD unless that faith leads into obedience. Baptism is not just part of Faith Only.
Before pronouncing EXCATHEDRA on baptism and thereby establishing a DIVIVE CREED, it is important to understand that from the wilderness onward the command was to PREACH the Word of God (only) by READING the Word for comfort and doctrine. Few readers have trouble understanding the prophetic types, the prophecy by the Spirit OF Christ, the direct commands of Jesus, the Apostles and early church history. When Rick Atchley who claims to be guided by a holy spirit person (people) make their pronouncement the simple who have men's person in admiration will be led into destruction.
The Bible writers used the common words of the common people and did not try to interpret all of the baptism passages by FAITH ONLY passages taken out of context.
On way to determine the meaning of Mark 16 is to find an identical "formulation" in the Greek texts. The viper race was not fit subjects to be baptized to be accepted as a DISCIPLE: those were the Scribes and Pharisees Jesus called hypocrites. In the Ezekiel 33 version Christ named SELF-speakers, singers and instrument players WAGED to sell their own songs and sermons: they were the first to have Aaron the Pharisee Ministry.
THOSE OF THE WORLD OR WISE NOT SUBJECT TO BEING BAPTIZED. A presbyter or kerusso or preacher is a HERALD. A faithful preacher is not just one who believes in the King and the Army in the field: A faitful preacher will not, can not presume to add to, subtract from or charge on the receiving end. Athenian law prohibited poets, musicians or philosophers from being "preachers."
Plat. Laws 12.941a
Athenian
If anyone, while acting as ambassador or herald, conveys false messages from his State to another State,
or fails to deliver the actual message he was sent to deliver,
or is proved to have brought back, as ambassador or herald, either from a friendly or hostile nation, their reply in a false form,
against all such there shall be laid an indictment for breaking the law by sinning against the sacred messages and injunctions of Hermes1 and Zeus, and an assessment shall be made of the penalty they shall suffer or pay, [941b] if convicted.

Christ defines the wind, string and percussion instruments as signs that God is driving His enemies into "hell."
Theft of property is uncivilized, open robbery is shameless: neither of these has any of the sons of Zeus practiced, through delight in fraud or force. Let no man, therefore, be deluded concerning this or persuaded either by poets or by any perverse myth-mongers into the belief that, when he thieves or forcibly robs, he is doing nothing shameful, but just what the gods themselves do.2 That is both unlikely and untrue; and whoever acts thus unlawfully is neither a god at all nor a child of gods;

artist, artificer: ut aiunt in Graecis artificibus eos auloedos esse, qui citharoedi fieri non potuerint, sic, etc., Cic. Mur. 13, 29; cf. Ov. M. 11, 169 al.: artifices scaenici,
B. A maker, originator, author, contriver: Also for a sly, cunning contriver, inventor of a thing
Aristot. Poet. 1461b The question may be raised whether the epic or the tragic form of representation is the better. If the better is the less vulgar and the less vulgar is always that which appeals to the better audience, then obviously the art which makes its appeal to everybody is eminently vulgar. And indeed actors think the audience do not understand unless they put in something of their own, and so they strike all sorts of attitudes, as you see bad flute-players whirling about if they have to do "the Discus," or mauling the leader of the chorus when they are playing the "Scylla." So tragedy is something like what the older school of actors thought of their successors, for Mynniscus used to call Callippides "the monkey," because he overacted, and the same was said of Pindarus

John 6:28-29;
Acts 16:29-34.
Rick Atchley: Conclusion: Acts 16:29-34 - Baptism is not about you doing something, it's about
you __________________ and ______________________ by faith what Christ did.
Jesus was not acknowledged as a SON until AFTER He had obeyed and been BAPTIZED. Jesus said that He had a NEED to be baptized. He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness: that means to fully preach baptism and fill it with His own righteousness.
Acts 16:29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Before the jailer could BELIEVE he had to hear the gospel: Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Rick Atchley would just have him BELIEVE. Here is what Jesus had Paul told which was identical to the Great Commission: baptism IN ORDER to the remission of sins. Faith is not obedience.
Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou?
....ARISE, and be baptized,
....and WASH away thy sins,
....CALLING on the name of the Lord.
Romans 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, , indignation and wrath,
Acts 16:32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
The Lord never said 'just believe.' He said Repent and BE baptized FOR or IN ORDER to the remission of sins. If Rick Atchley is right then Jesus must have been lying.
Now, notice the active verbs BEFORE the jailer could be classified as a BELIEVER.
Acts 16:33 And he [jailer]
TOOK them the same hour of the night,
and WASHED their stripes;
and WAS baptized, he and all his, straightway.
Acts 16:34 And when he had
Speaking the Word of the Lord is the command for BELIEVERS to be Baptized FOR or in order to the remission of sins: that is a LAW of Christ but not a law of self-righteousnee
Only AFTER he has repented of his actions and WAS baptized could it be said that:
brought them into his house,
he set meat before them,
and rejoiced,
believing in God with all his house.
He is NOT said to be a believer until after his baptism.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
THE PROPHETIC TYPE OF CALLING ON THE NAME OF THE LORD TO SAVE US FROM THAT "NEW STYLE WORSHIP."
2Kings 5:11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand,
and call on the name of the LORD his God,
and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
2Kings 5:12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus,
better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean?
So he turned and went away in a rage.
Naaman is our TYPE of those who want to, as Max Lucado once said, just look up and say FATHER. Well, salvation means the remission of sins ONLY available to those who want to be a disciple of Chrixst
2Kings 5:13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said,
My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it?
how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
2Kings 5:14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan,
according to the saying of the man of God:
and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
2Kings 5:15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company,
and came, and stood before him: and he said,
Behold, now I know that there is no God in all earth, but in Israel:
now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
BAPTISM SAVES US because we REQUEST A good conscience or A holy
spirit: a good conscience is a good consciousness or a co-perception of
the Word.
Paul said that only those who turn, are converted at
baptism can read BLACK text on BROWN paper because THE LORD IS THE
SPIRIT and He does NOT speak to theologians.
A holy spirit (ours) reads:
Speak to one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
But, Oding and Psallo IN the heart.
An UNholy spirit who denies the words of Jesus reads:
Sing TO the others with my own silly praise ditties
And make melody upon a guitar.
Zephaniah 3:4 Her prophets are light and treacherous persons:
her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.
Zephaniah 3:5 The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity:
every morning doth he bring his
judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
Zephaniah 3:6 I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate;
I made their streets waste, that none passeth by:
their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
Zep 3:7 I said, Surely thou wilt fear me,
thou wilt receive instruction;
so their dwelling should not be cut off,
howsoever I punished
them:
but they rose early,
and corrupted all their
doings.

Remember
that the eunuch had no reason to be REJOICING until after he had
CONFESSED and been BAPTIZED.
Christ in Isaiah, John and Paul
connect believing to OBEYING. Obeying is IN ADDITION to believing:
Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report?PAUL CYCLES THROUGH THE LOGICAL PROCESS AND INCLUDES ALL OF THE "STEPS" IN ONE CHAPTER.
and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
John 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord,
who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
IS IT ETHICAL TO QUOTE THIS VERSE OUT OF CONTEXT. Thos who believe SHOULD be saved but does not say IS SAVED by belief. All men and animals are purified by THE FAITH of Jesus Christ. Paul is speaking to warn the Jews and not to endorse the Baptists that Gentiles are NO ceremonially impure: they are righteous in the sense that they believe in God and do works of righteousness.Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Acts 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Acts 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
The inspired message is that a person can WORK RIGHTEOUS ACTS. Being baptized is a righteous act because it complies to the only instrumental means for OBEYING Jesus as required to be "washed with water INTO the Word" or into the School of Christ. If you baptized all of Texas and take them to a performance worship service you have NOT let them be admitted to the School of Christ as the Campblls called it.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;Calling on the NAME is not just a part of Faith.
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek:
for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Scripture tells us HOW to Call on the Name of the Lord requesting A holy spirit or A good conscience.
Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles,
Men and brethren, what shall we do?
These people obviously already BELIEVED. Peter should have obeyed Atchley and said: NOTHING. You should be baptized to ILLUSTRATE your faith which saved you or remitted our sins. However, if you PREACH the Word by READING the Word you must not call Peter a liar:
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, AND be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
FOR the remission of sins, [Eis never means because of]
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou?
arise, and be baptized,
and wash away thy sins,
calling on the name of the Lord.
1Peter 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
1Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
1Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto
even baptism doth also now save us
(not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,
but the request for a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
and how shall they hear without a preacher?
