Amos 8 A Basket of Summer Fruits
Women and girls from the different ranks of society were proud to enter the service of the gods as singers and musicians. The understanding of this service was universal: these singers constituted the 'harem of the gods'." "The Catholic Johannes Quasten in Pagan and Christian Music tells it like it is)"Philodemus considered it paradoxical that music should be regarded as veneration of the gods while musicians were paid for performing this so-called veneration. Again, Philodemus held as self deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy.
Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music;
..........He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines
..........[tabering with one's hands or upon one's breast]
..........as a disturbance of the spirit.
..........He found it significant that, on the whole,
..........only women and effeminate men fell into this folly.
.......... it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure,
.......... which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did.
"The trained musicians which eventually appear around the time of David and Solomon mark a distinctive change in the history of Jewish music. Before this time much of the music was made by women." (Zondervan Pict., Music p. 313).
This is exactly what happened when God abandoned Israel to the Monarchy. However the ASSEMBLY is Qahal or synagogue where these perverted musical performers were excluded. Paul knew something about Eve and Miriam theologians will never grasp:

Why.Men.Dont.Sing.in.Church: Despite these advantages, there are a few barriers for men engaging in contemporary worship. Murrow points out that before contemporary worship came on the scene in the 70’s and 80’s, most worship songs in the church were written about God rather than to God. He writes, “With hymns, God is out there. He’s big. Powerful. Dangerous. He’s a leader. With Praise and Worship, God is at my side. He’s close. Intimate. Safe. He’s a lover.”
“Picture two male hunters sitting in a duck blind, shotguns resting across their laps. One hunter decides to express his affection for the other, using the words of a popular praise song. He turns to his friend and says, “Hey, buddy…”
Your love is extravagant
Your friendship, it is intimate
I feel I’m moving to the rhythm of your grace
Your fragrance is intoxicating in this secret placeThose are the lyrics to a worship song. Murrow goes on to write, “I cannot imagine saying these words to another man - especially one carrying a loaded shotgun.”
Although most church leaders are men, most Christian men feel like the church is feminized and it’s the last place they want to spend Sunday mornings.

Stan Grandberg Kairos is the Greek word meaning "the opportune or seasonable time, the decisive epoch waited for, the right time." (Thayers Greek-English Lexicon)
For he says, "In the Kairos of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the Kairos of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2
Challenge #2: restore APOSTOLIC leaders as part of our leadership system. For a non-centralized, non-denominational fellowship, CofC have a strongly held congregational leadership system.
In our most traditional form, a congregation is led by a committee of elders with deacons and teachers as permanent workers.
Pastoral staff are hired to work under the oversight of the elders,
who can also fire on any pretense or personal discretion.
This structure creates a maintenance orientation designed to keep the system stableTHE ELDERS ARE THE PASTOR-TEACHERS: JOB ONE IS TO EJECT THE CUNNING CRAFTSMEN OR SOPHISTS: rhetoric, music, scenic. Jesus told Paul to say that they ARE LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE. Their foreordained Winnowing Angels are to Silence God.
This is the Calvinist purpse driven plot to infiltrate and steal your congregation. Rich fools love to be fooled.
STAN: "History and research have proven true C. Peter Wagner’s assertion, “Planting new churches is the most effective evangelistic methodology known under heaven.”[5] Timothy Keller further expands Wagner’s view about church planting,
The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is a movement which seeks to establish a fifth branch within Christen distinct from Catholicism, Protestantism, Oriental Orthodoxy, and Eastern Orthodoxy. The movement is largely associated with the Pentecostal and the Charismatic movements and advocates the restoration of the lost offices of church governance, namely the offices of prophet and apostle.[1] Inspired by the G12 movement,[5] C. Peter Wagner, Strategies for Growth: Tools for Effective Missions and Evangelism (Ventura, CA: Regal Books, 1987), 168.
it grows by recruiting pastors of independent congregations and nondenominational churches,
by assimilating members from other churches through cell group meetings,
and by frequent Church planting and rapid expansion, including foreign missions around the globe.

We must adopt the Ephesians 4:11 understanding that restores the full circle of biblical leadership.[4]
This will mean a recognition of the personal leadership giftedness God provides the church.
[4] This idea of APEST leadership from Ephesians 4:11 is thoughtfully engaged by Alan Hirsch, .alanhirsch.org/books. A circle model of leadership that has strong research support is described by Stanley E. Granberg, “Circle of biblical leadership,” Kairos Church Planting, August 31, 2011, accessed May 29, 2017, http://kairoschurchplanting.blogspot.com/ 2011/08/circle-of-biblical-leadership.html.WHY DAVID YOUNG IS NOT AN APOSTLE WITH ANY AUTHORITY
APOSTLES extend the gospel. As the “sent ones,” they ensure that the faith is transmitted from one context to another and from one generation to the next.
DISCIPLE'S ASSURANCE THAT THESE ARE FOREORDAINED. THEIR NEW HERMENEUTIC CONFESSES TO LISTENING TO DEMONS AS INTERCESSORS.
He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him (Mk. 3:14)
He sat at table with the twelve disciples (Matt. 26:20)
He called his disciples and chose...12, whom he named apostles (Lk. 6:13).
He said, "Did I not myself choose you, the 12" (John 6:70)
He said, "I chose you" (John 20:19, 24)
"But Thomas, one of the twelve" (John 20:19, 24)
2.The twelve were the intimates of Jesus (Matt. 28:10, 16; John 2:12)
"No longer do I call you slaves...but friends" (John 15:14, 15)
3. Jesus revealed Himself to the Apostles (John 21:1,2, John 21; 2:14)
4. The promise of power was made to the apostles (John 20:22; Acts 1:2, 6-8, 11; Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-18; 19:1-6; Rom. 1:11; 2 Tim. 1:6)
5. The twelve apostles were specifically instructed (Matt. 10:5; Matt. 11:1; Luke 24:44, 45).
6. The twelve apostles were the ones given the authority (Matt. 10:1; Lk. 9:1; Mk. 16:20; The 70 had powers but when the apostles were sent out the powers were regiven showing that the power was for the duration of the mission.
7. The apostles were the ones Jesus specifically appeared to after His resurrection and gave further instructions (Acts 1:3; Mk. 9:1).
8. The apostles were the ones who were given commandment prior to Pentecost (Acts 1:2).
9. The eleven were the ones whom Jesus verifies as having been given commandment to wait in Jerusalem.
10. The eleven (later twelve) were the only ones promised the baptism of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:5).
11. The apostles, and not the masses, were given the promises (Matt. 13:11; Acts 2:33).
12. The apostles were to be the revealers of new truth and have divine memory (John 14:26; Acts 2:33).
13. The 12 were to be the unique co-witnesses of Jesus' life and resurrection along with the Holy Spirit because they had been with Him from the beginning (John 15:26, 27; Acts 1:2, 8; Luke 24:48, 49).

Matt. 10:2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these;
The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
Matt. 10:3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;
Matt. 10:4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
Matt. 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them,
saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Matt. 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name [singular] of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

PROPHETS know God's will. They are particularly attuned to God and his truth for today. They bring correction and challenge the dominant assumptions we inherit from the culture. They insist that the community obey what God has commanded. They question the status quo.

They call for a personal response to God's redemption in Christ, and also draw believers to engage the wider mission, growing the churchELDERS WHO DO NOT TAKE THE OVERSIGHT CLAIMED BY PARASITIC STAFF WILL BURN

Paul helps but never cures the PRIDE by showing that there were only a few God-Chosen men to WITNESS Jesus and be taught the Word by Jesus.

1Cor. 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?PAUL TOLD THE CORINTHIANS THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A BETTER WAY.
1Cor. 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
1Cor. 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts:
and yet shew I unto YOU a more excellent way.
The better gift:The Gift of Prophesying or Speaking the REVEALED WORD by that GIFT bestowed by the hands of an APOSTLE.
1Cor. 13:9 For we KNOW in part, and we PROPHESY in part.
1Cor. 13:10 But when that which is PERFECT is come,
then that which is in part shall be done away.
The Apostles left us a "memory" of his PART of which he had been eye-- and ear--witnesses of Jesus making the prophecies (concerning me) more certain by supernatural validation. We have His PART. The PERFECT definition of the kingdom of Christ was and is defined INCLUSIVELY AND EXCLUSIVELY as God put His WORDS into the MOUTH of the Prophets. SPIRIT is a figurative or parable word used to define that process. Therefore, any presumptuous APOSTLE who can be free of COMMANDS, EXAMPLES and willingly following INFERENCES despises the Spirit OF God and is therefore a BLASPHEMER.

THE SERPENT IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN WAS A MUSICAL SORCERER.
Gen. 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Genesis 3.1 sed et serpens erat callidior cunctis animantibus terrae quae fecerat Dominus Deus qui dixit ad mulierem cur praecepit vobis Deus ut non comederetis de omni ligno paradisi
The Word of God being questioned, led Eve, in her reply, (1) to omit the word "freely" (3:2, compare 2:16); then (2) to add the words "neither shalt thou touch it" (3:3, compare 2:17); and finally (3) to alter a certainty into a contingency by changing "thou SHALT SURELY die" (2:17) into "LEST ye die" (3:3)
This is the New Song, the manifestation of the Word that was in the beginning, and before the beginning. The Saviour, who existed before, has in recent days appeared. He, who is in Him that truly is, has appeared; for the Word, who "was with God," and by whom all things were created, has appeared as our Teacher.
The Word, who in the beginning bestowed on us life as Creator when He formed us, taught us to live well when He appeared as our Teacher; that as God He might afterwards conduct us to the life which never ends.
He did not now for the first time pity us for our error; but He pitied us from the first, from the beginning. But now, at His appearance, lost as we already were, He accomplished our salvation.
For that wicked reptile monster, by his enchantments, enslaves and plagues men even till now; inflicting, as seems to me, such barbarous vengeance on them as those who are said to bind the captives to corpses till they rot together.
This wicked tyrant and serpent, accordingly, binding fast with the miserable chain of superstition whomsoever he can draw to his side from their birth, to stones, and stocks, and images, and such like idols, may with truth be said to have taken and buried living men with those dead idols, till both suffer corruption together.
Therefore (for the seducer is one and the same) he that at the beginning brought Eve down to death, now brings thither the rest of mankind.Our ally and helper, too, is one and the same-the Lord,
who from the beginning gave revelations by prophecy,
but now plainly calls to salvation.In obedience to the apostolic injunction,
therefore, let us flee from "the prince of the power of the air,
the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience,"and let us run to the Lord the saviour, who now exhorts to salvation, as He has ever done, as He did by signs and wonders in Egypt and the desert, both by the bush and the cloud, which, through the favour of divine love, attended the Hebrews like a handmaid.
By the fear which these inspired He addressed the hard-hearted; while by Moses, learned in all wisdom, and Isaiah, lover of truth,
and the whole prophetic choir, in a way appealing more to reason, He turns to the Word those who have ears to hear.

AS A WAY TO MARK THEM, THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST IS WITHING THE SPIRIT OF INDIVIDUALS: IT DOES NOT COME WITH OBSERVATION MEANING RELIGIOUS "OBSERVATIONS." ANOTHER MARK IS THAT NEITHER HOLY SCRIPTURE OR CHURCH HISTORY PROVIDES ANY FUNDING.

John York: Rubel: Let me give you an example to work with in relation to the question you've raised: homosexuality and the ordination of practicing homosexuals to ministry.Why don't we at least entertain the possibility that the Bible simply reflects an ANCIENT TABOO or homophobic prejudice in a few people like Paul -- a taboo and prejudice we need to outgrow?
"Women and girls from the different ranks of society were proud to enter the service of the gods as singers and musicians. The understanding of this service was universal: these singers constituted the 'harem of the gods'." (End of Quasten)
"The trained musicians which eventually appear around the time of David and Solomon mark a distinctive change in the history of Jewish music.
"Philodemus considered it paradoxical that music should be regarded as veneration of the gods while musicians were paid for performing this so-called veneration. Again, Philodemus held as self deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy. He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines as a disturbance of the spirit. He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this follyBefore this time much of the music was made by women." (Zondervan Pict., Music p. 313).
Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music; it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure, which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did

Jesus exists in the STATE of Holy Spirit. He is still the only RABBI:
John 8:31Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
IF ye continue in my word, THEN are ye my disciples indeed;
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Heb. 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost

seeing he EVER LIVETH make INTERCESSION for them
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him,
If a man love me, he will keep my WORDS: and my Father will love him,
and WE will come unto him, and make OUR abode with him.
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
The Spirit means that God puts His WORDS into the MOUTH of Moses, Elijah (the prophets) and LASTLY the Man Christ Jesus. Spirit never speaks of a god or man because Jesus said that my WORDS that I SPEAK are SPIRIT and LIFE (John 6:63).. That is because the Spirit OF God or man is their mental disposition.
THE ONLY WAY THAT DISCIPLES CAN OR WANT TO PRAISE GOD!
The ONLY verbal praise of God is both a Disciple- and Gender Trap. Paul prohibits females and the effeminate is:
1Pet. 4:11 If any man speak, let him SPEAK as the oracles of God; [Oracles are Portions of THE WORD.]
if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth:
that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ,
to whom be PRAISE and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

EVIL OR NOT APT SHEPHERDS SET HIRELINGS OVER THEIR FLOCK
God ordained that APT and literate senior male FEED THE FLOCK. FEEDING is apparent to we slow ones that the PATTERN as Jesus commanded was to be PASTOR TEACHERS. Where a human pattern is substituted honorable preachers follow the Word, Logos: Regulative principle outlawing rhetoric, music, scenic, opinions or PAY TO PLAY a Hired Hand. "ministries, or STAFF (called parasites) always seem PURPOSE DRIVEN to scatter or drive away godly STUDENTS OF Jesus-only."
Understand that the names of ANIMALS are used in the Bible to speak of certain types of people. The serpent was the Musical Enchanter, the Assyrian as the "Tallest Tree" in Eden, or Lucifer the "singing and harp-playing prostitute" or any of a SPECIES of people who are NOT OF FAITH because they are the SEED of the Devil.
The word or DABAR has the same meaning as LOGOS. Spirit in the Prophets means that God without help puts His WORD into the MOUTH of Moses, The Prophets and LASTLY, the MAN Jesus of Nazareth.
AND the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Ezek 34:1
Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God unto the shepherds;
Woe be to the shepherds of Israel
that do feed themselves
should not the shepherds feed the flocks? Ezek 34:2Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. Ezek 34:3
Priests and Levites were for the CIVIL servants - Giving even for the STARVING was not a LAW.
The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away,
neither have ye sought that which was lost;
but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. Ezek 34:4And they were scattered,
because there is no shepherd:
and they became meat to all the beasts of the field,
when they were scattered. Ezek 34:5Chay (h2416) khah'ee; from 2421; alive; hence raw (flesh)... whether lit. or fig.: - / age, alive, appetite, (wild) beast, company, congregation, life (-time), live (- ly), living (creature, thing), maintenance, / merry, multitude, / (be) old, quick, raw, running, springing, troop.
My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them. Ezek 34:6
Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord; Ezek 34:7
As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey,
and my flock became meat to every beast of the field,
because there was no shepherd,
neither did my shepherds search for my flock,
but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; Ezek 34:8Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord; Ezek 34:9
Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock;
neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more;
for I will deliver my flock from their mouth,
that they may not be meat for them. Ezek 34:10Sophia is called the SERPENT and daughter ZOE is the BEAST and female instructing principle. They forced the "little ignorant jehovah" to worship them by forming musical worship teams. In the LUCIFER story, the underlying false teaching is that the true Deity is a MOTHER and the offspring is a DAUGHTER. The lambs are feeding the BEAST animals more and more.
For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. Ezek 34:11
As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. Ezek 34:12
And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. Ezek 34:13
I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. Ezek 34:14
Jesus died to give REST which was "spiritual anxiety created by religious rituals." The word REST points to the stopping of loud musical noises which are the "rushing waters" which disturb the lambs.
I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord God. Ezek 34:15
I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick:
but I will destroy the fat and the strong;
I will feed them with judgment. Ezek 34:16And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats. Ezek 34:17
Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures?
and to have drunk of the deep waters,
but ye must foul the residue with your feet? Ezek 34:18And as for my flock,
they eat that which ye have trodden with your feet;
and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet. Ezek 34:19Therefore thus saith the Lord God unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the lean cattle. Ezek 34:20
Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder,
and pushed all the diseased with your horns,
till ye have scattered them abroad; Ezek 34:21The HORNS of the BEAST are MUSICAL horns.
And even rejoiced in some churches when they scatter!
Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle. Ezek 34:22
And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. Ezek 34:23
And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it. Ezek 34:24
And I will make with them a covenant of peace,
and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land:
and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. Ezek 34:25Exod 12:38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. Ezek 34:26
And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the Lord,
when I have broken the bands of their yoke,
and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. Ezek 34:27And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid. Ezek 34:28
And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more. Ezek 34:29
Thus shall they know that I the Lord their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord God. Ezek 34:30
God is a term for the DEITY Who is invisible and unknowable: "No man heareth Him." Lord is Jehovah who is Jehovah- Saves or Jesus. God as a hyphenated word defines the One God indwelling and working within the physical world.
And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God. Ezek 34:31

Moral and Psychological effects of music:
Schopenhauer, on this point, echoes Plato.
By means of massive irruptions, [overtones]
MUSIC takes up residence in our intimate self
and seemingly elects to make its home there.
The man inhabited and possessed by this intruder,
the man ROBBED of a self, is no longer himself:
he has become nothing more than a vibrating string, a sounding pipe.
He trembles madly under the bow or the fingers of the instrumentalist;
and just as APOLLON fills the Pythia’s lungs,
so the organ’s powerful voice
and the harp’s gentle accents take possession of the listener.
This process, at once IRRATIONAL and SHAMFUL, takes place on the margins of truth,
and thus borders more on magic than on empirical science.

THE ANDROGYNOUS WORSHIP LEADER: MUSIC-SEX AND SALVATION

The Vineyard Connection: From Worship at the Vineyard This Fuller theology is in charge at Lipscomb University and a church near you. Rhonda.Lowry.Mark.5.Lectio.Divina.html
'About this time I began asking our music leader why some songs seemed to spark something in us and others didn't. As we talked about worship, we realised that often we would sing about worship yet we never actually worshipped -
except when we accidentally stumbled onto intimate songs like "I love you Lord", and "I lift my voice". Thus we began to see a difference between songs about Jesus and songs to Jesus.
'At this time we also discovered that singing was not the only way to worship God. Because the word worship means literally to bow down, it is important that our bodies are involved in what our spirits are saying. In Scripture this is accomplished through bowing heads, lifting hands, kneeling, and even lying prostrate before God.
'A result of our worshipping and blessing God is being blessed by him. We don't worship God in order to get blessed, but we are blessed as we worship him. He visits his people with manifestations of the Holy Spirit.
Expression then moves to a zenith, a climatic point, not unlike physical lovemaking (doesn't Solomon use the same analogy in the Song of Songs?). We have expressed what is in our hearts and minds and bodies,
and now it is time to wait for God to respond. Stop talking and wait for him to speak, to move. I call this, the fourth phase, visitation: The almighty God visits his people.

Markus in Reciting the Book: These effects have implications for understanding who controls the production and dissemination of a prestigious high genre like epic (the politics of literary production) and what role the public, non-dramatic, authorial reading aloud of epic plays in the construction of gender and social status.... In that regard, epic's position is parallel to that of rhetoric. Beginning with Aristotle's Rhetorica (1404a), critics of rhetorical performance have ascribed to lively delivery the same effect as that of acting. There is a persistent association between theatrics, bad rhetoric and effeminacy.
Nevertheless, I think that I need to be more explicit in stating that the music which I prescribe is not the modern music which has been emasculated by the lascivious melodies of the effeminate stage and has to no small extent destroyed the amount of manly vigor that we still possessed.
I refer rather to the music of old with which people used to sing the praises of brave men and which the brave themselves used to sing.

He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this folly.
Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music; it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure, which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did.
Because of such idolatry, many passages say that:"Women and girls from the different ranks of society were proud to enter the service of the gods as singers and musicians. The understanding of this service was universal: these singers constituted the 'harem of the gods'." (End of Quasten)

"The development both of religion and of the arts can be traced back in a continuous line to the hunting era. The group ritual of the primeval tribesmen were the origin not only of all religious ceremonial, but also of the drama and of poetry and music, while magic gave birth to the visual arts." (Parkes, Henry Bamford, On Gods and Men, p. 30)."Awed by the mysteries of his own spirit no less than by those of nature, primitive man was likely to attribute to divine influence any abnormal emotional state, whether above or below the usual level. Medicine men customarily went into states of trance in which they were believed to be in communication with the gods, and many tribes supposed lunatics and sexual deviants to be divinely possessed.
"What primative men... wanted from the gods was health and strength, riches and long life, and they hoped to attain these things chiefly by ritual and sacrifice rather than by good conduct. The methods of early religion always remained largely magical, and its motivations thoroughly materialistic." (Parkes, p. 36).
