A deeper-reaching attempt to explain the significance of the castrato age has been made by Moses (1960) in an interesting paper on the psychology of the castrato voice. He interprets the emergence of this vocal fashion as the fulfillment of an age-old dream wish of bisexual hermaphroditism. Even if one does not follow Moses in some of his somewhat overdrawn conclusions, there is left enough of a solid basis for his theory. Hermaphroditic mythology plays an important part in cultural history. In collections of primitive art one sometimes see sculptures of idols each with female breasts and a penis

Voices mirror not only individual characters but the spirit of a period as well. In this sense the voice of the castrato personifies the bisexual ideal with its unity of a female voice in a man's body. In the mythological atmosphere of the baroque opera the castrato portrayed gods and mythological persons who presented male and female characteristics in a vocal hermaphroditic combination.

In an unfinished book that Paul Moses left at his death he predicted, over ten years ago, quite correctly the approach of another age of crossover of the sexes. The young generation of today favors fashions that obliterate the differences between the sexes. Girls wear pants, and young men sport girlish long hair and wear necklaces and bracelets. The classical love song of the nineteenth century, the love-centered operettas, and the popular songs of the "June-moon" variety of the first half of this century have given way to the harsh rhythms of rock and roll of the unisex generation. And the phoniatrist sees among his patients an increasing number of young adult males who do not use the deep masculine voice that the pubertal growth of the larynx offers but continue to speak in an artificial high pitch of almost female sound. Friedrich S. Brodnitz, M.D.

CONSISTENT WITH RESTORING HEBREW ROOTS

Delitzsch on Psalms: Moreover, we must take into consideration the facts that the compass of the tenor extends even into the soprano, that the singers were of different ages down to twenty years of age, and that Oriental, and more particularly even Jewish, song is fond of falsetto singing. We therefore adopt Perret- Gentil's rendering, chant avec voix de femmes, and still more readily Armand de Mestral's, en soprano; whereas Melissus' rendering, "upon musical instruments called Alamoth (the Germans would say, upon the virginal)," has nothing to commend it.

"Hebrew music... was used in the luxurious times of the later monarchy the effeminate gallants of israel, reeking with perfumes, and stretched upon their couches of ivory, were wont at their banquets to accompany the song with the tinkling of the psaltery or guitar (Am. v1. 4-6), and amused themselves with devising musical instruments while their nation was perishing... music was the legitimate expression of mirth and gladness, and the indication of peace and prosperity." (Smith's Bible Dictionary, Music, p. 590).

Gender Inclusive and Egalitarian  Churches of Christ  Everyone prays that EVERYONE be in peace and quietness. Men cannot bring on WRATH or ORGY which includes all of the performing or hypocritic performances: rhetoric, singing, playing, acting.  Women cannot teach OVER men because the authorized pattern is to PREACH the Word by READING the Word and mutually confessing it.  The PURPOSE all inclusives miss and violate is that so that "everyone can be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth." That truth is the elders teaching that which has been taught.

A Trickle of Spirit: Tim Woodruff

The concept of a TRINITY of separated "god" points primarily to the pagan systems where the SPIRIT of necessity must be the MOTHER. this is based on the Sophia-Zoe concept orother mothers of a daughter trinities.  The inventor and the early writers who spoke of the "trias" of Father, Son and Spirit--none of which are ever the names of persons--they never in their wildest imagination would have left unhurt real bad any of the pulpit level makers of songs and sermons.  John 14 up to chapter 16 where Jesuis uses the word "proverb" makes it perfectly clear that there are not three god people. Much less a "spirit" person who leads people beyond being a teacher and disciple of what Christ commanded to be taught. In Matthew 13 Jesus warned that truth had been hidden from the Scribes and Pharisees He called hypocrites where Christ in Ezekiel 13 named false preachers, singers and instrument players.

1.13.11

Those imposing musical instruments build their faith on the Levites defined by the Scribes: Jesus defined them as hypocrites and Christ in the Ezekiel 33 example named speakers, singers and instrument players.

The first two reasons assert that under the Old Testament, God did not just allow instrumental music, He commanded and blessed it. Rick offered the following passages for these contentions: 2 Chronicles 5:13-14; 7:6; 29:25-26; Psalm 33:1- 3; 92:1-3; 150:1-6.

Never mind that the godly tribes were quarantined. No singer or player went INTO or NEAR a holy thing or place on the penalty of death. Some of these patterns are separated from the last by up to 300 years.

CHRIST IN THE PROPHETS WARNED ABOUT THE LYING PEN OF THE SCRIBES.

Stand in the gate of the Lords house [courts], and proclaim there this word,
        and say, Hear the word of the Lord, all ye of Judah,
        that enter in at these gates to worship the Lord. Jeremiah 7:2

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel,
        Amend your ways and your doings,
        and I will cause you to dwell in this place. Jeremiah 7:3

Trust ye not in lying words, saying,
        The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord,
        The temple of the Lord, are these. Jeremiah 7:4

Jer. 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is WITH US?
        LO, CERTAINLY IN VAIN MADE HE IT;
        THE PEN OF THE SCRIBES IS in vain.

For I spake NOT unto your fathers, nor commanded them
        in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt,
        concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: Jeremiah 7:22

Cyril of Alexandria, Commentary on John,

That the Pharisees puffed up unto strange boasting,
        were wont to pretend that the Divine Word was with them and in them,
        and therefore foolishly affirmed that they had advanced to marvellous wisdom,
        the Spirit Itself will testify,
        since Christ says by the Prophet Jeremiah unto them,
                How do ye say, WE are wise, and the word of the Lord is with us?
                For nought to the scribes became their lying pen;
                the wise
men were ashamed, were dismayed and taken;
                what wisdom
is in them? because they rejected the word of the Lord.

For how are they not taken rejecting the Living and Hypostatic Word of God,
         receiving not the faith to Him-ward,
         but dishonouring the Impress of God the Father,
         and refusing to behold His most true Form (so to say)
         through His God-befitting Authority and Power?

THE PROPHECIES BY CHRIST WERE FULFILLED BY JESUS CHRIST: JESUS AND PETER MAKES THE APOSTLES AND PROPHETS THE ONLY TRUTH.

John 6:44 No man can come to me,
        except the Father which hath sent me draw him:
        and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:45 It is WRITTEN IN THE PROPHETS
        And they shall be all taught of God.
        Every man therefore that hath heard,
        and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

2Pet. 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words
        which were spoken before by the HOLY PROPHETS
        and of the commandment of us the APOSTLES of the Lord and Saviour:

IT WAS THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST WHO SPOKE THROUGH THE PROPHETS AND NOT LYING SCRIBES whom He called hypocrites by naming speakers, singers and instrument players in Ezekiel 33.

    1Pet. 1:10 Of which salvation the PROPHETS have inquired and searched diligently,
            who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
    1Pet. 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time
            the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
            when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ,
            and the glory that should follow.

God did NOT speak through the lying pen of the Scribes who recorded the Monarchy which God had NOT commanded.

Heb. 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners
        spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Heb. 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us BY HIS SON
        whom he hath appointed heir of all things,
        by whom also he made the worlds;
Heb. 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory,
        and the express image of his person,
        and upholding all things by the WORD of his power,
        when he had by himself purged our sins,
        sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high

THOSE WHO DELIBERATELY SOW DISCORD BY QUOTING THE LYING PEN OF THE SCRIBES (hypocrites: speakers, singers, instrument players) are defined by the Spirit:

Jer. 23:16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts,
        Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you:
        they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart,
        and not out of the mouth of the LORD.

Jer 23:17 They say still unto them that despise me,
        The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace;
        and they say unto every one that walketh
        after the imagination of his own heart,
        No evil shall come upon you.

Despise tthe Word of God of God and using your own words is:

Blasphēm-eō , pf. A. “beblasphēmēka” D.18.10:—speak profanely of sacred things, “eis theous” Pl.R.381e; offer rash prayers,

1. Because Christ as Spirit spoke ONLY through the prophets.
2. Those who use use the pattern of the Lying Pen of the Scribes, in fact despise and ignore the SPIRIT message.
3. Christ in Jeremiah defines that as blasphemy

Hebrew: H5006 nâ’ats naw-ats' A primitive root; to scorn; abhor, (give occasion to) blaspheme, contemn, despise, flourish, XThere are TWO ACTORS in God's pattern: God the Father and Jesus of Nazareth whom God MADE TO BE both Lord and Christ. Christ Who is God in action spoke ONLY through the Prophets for the Godly people.  Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled these prophecies and THAT is the sole teaching resource for faith and practice.

As you go through the Epistles by people assigned PARTS to be fully revealed the term "The Holy Spirit" virtually disappears because Jesus Christ THE Spirit was fulfilling His mission to guide the apostles into ALL truth. That leaves nothing for the fertile imagination of Sophists or Rhetoricians.
Acts 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens:
         but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord,
        Sit thou on my right hand,
Acts 2:35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly,
        that God  hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified,
        both Lord and Christ.

All of the Salutations teach this two-fold relationship:
2Cor. 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
        unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
2Cor. 1:2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father,
        and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
2Cor. 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father
        of our Lord Jesus Christ,
        the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

1Tim. 2:5 For there is one God,
                and one mediator between God and men,
                the man Christ Jesus;
John identifies as Anti-Christ anyone who denies this One and only One God and One Lord.

When people speak out of their own imagination instead of the Word as Spirit by Christ in the Prophets and Apostles, Christ calls it blasphemy.  Of Hezekiah's Plague stopping exorcism used to say that "God commanded instrumental praise and we must not be disobedient" Christ calls them BLASPHEMERS.

See Christ defining Blasphemy of The Holy Spirit

         that it may be well unto you. Jeremiah 7:23
Jer 23:17 They say still unto them that despise me,

See how the mother of the child began and ends in "Babylon."
That is why the DOVE and Jesus refutes always-pagan trinities: The Father God identifies His agent as the SON and therefore the masculine Jehovah-Logos.

The rise of the "spirit" telling preachers--right in the middle of a sermon--to lie about the Word of God and COMMAND the use of "instrumental praise" with the threat of being disobedient and refusing them the right to speak to the "leaders."

The introducion of music is proof of the Sophia-Zoe and effeminate in violent opposition to the Jehovah-Logos which is devoted to the rational or spiritual.  Masculine means say or speak: feminine or effeminate recites or sings.

If you are the victim of such a movement you are under the end-time Babylon mother of harlots (Rev 17) who uses the "lusted after fruits" (same as in Amos).  In chapter 18 John calls the preachers (techne), singers and instrument players sorcererers who HAD deceived the whole world.  In Paul's language, Eve (Zoe) was wholly seduced.  Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees who gave themselves the right to a new PATTERNISM, hypocrites.  In the Ezekiel 33 version He names preachers, singers and instrument players who attract those who will never obey but the cunning crafty get paid.

4.19.10Without knowing any of the end time ANTI-patternists on a vendetta against people who have NEVER worshipped with instruments under the name of The Church of Christ, I do not attack the persons but the new PATTERNISM which is effeminate and hypocritical as Jesus marked the Scribes and Pharisees as hypocrites and named "exciting" preachers who go "go to Tulsa" or write for New Wineskins, singers and instrument players. In some Psalms and the prophets Jesus denies authorization for the burnt offering of the goats (cappella, Azazel) as a unity gesture for Israel as the "instrumental sect" even in the Temple.

Knowing that none of the Bible is metrical (the Spirit SPEAKS witout METER), men like Calvin bowed to the clamor to begin singing in the assembly as they had often when the buildings belonged to the Catholics and in entertainment spectacles after the great cathedrals belonged to the state.  To obey the DIRECT COMMANDS, approved examples and inferences for anyone who knows the meaning of ekklesia or synagogue.  The Church of Christ was ordained as the Qahal or synagogue in the wilderness: it quarantined the gody people from the cursed tribe of Levi who were abandoned to "worship the starry host" because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.

Friend
Where have you been now, Socrates? Ah, but of course you have been in chase of Alcibiades and his youthful beauty! Well, only the other day, as I looked at him, I thought him still handsome as a man—for a man he is, Socrates, between you and me, and with quite a growth of beard.

Socrates
And what of that? Do you mean to say you do not approve of Homer

HH 4 483 Then Hermes answered him with artful words: “You question me carefully, O Far-worker; yet I am [465] not jealous that you should enter upon my art: this day you shall know it. For I seek to be friendly with you both in thought and word. Now you well know all things in your heart, since you sit foremost among the deathless gods, O son of Zeus, and are goodly and strong. And wise Zeus loves you [470] as all right is, and has given you splendid gifts. And they say that from the utterance of Zeus you have learned both the honors due to the gods, O Far-worker, and oracles from Zeus, even all his ordinances. Of all these I myself have already learned that you have great wealth. Now, you are free to learn whatever you please; [475] but since, as it seems, your heart is so strongly set on playing the lyre, chant, and play upon it, and give yourself to merriment, taking this as a gift from me, and do you, my friend, bestow glory on me. Sing well with this clear-voiced companion in your hands; for you are skilled in good, well-ordered utterance. [480] From now on bring it confidently to the rich feast and lovely dance and glorious revel, a joy by night and by day. Whoso with wit [Tekhne] and wisdom [Sophia] enquires of it cunningly, him it teaches [485] through its sound all manner of things that delight the mind, being easily played with gentle familiarities, for it abhors toilsome drudgery; but whoso in ignorance enquires of it violently, to him it chatters mere vanity and foolishness.

HH 4 511 Afterwards they two, the all-glorious sons of Zeus turned the cows back towards the sacred meadow, [505] but themselves hastened back to snowy Olympus, delighting in the lyre. Then wise Zeus was glad and made them both friends. And Hermes loved the son of Leto continually, even as he does now, when he had given the lyre as token to the Far-shooter, [Apollo, Abaddon, Apollyon] [510] who played it skilfully, holding it upon his arm. But for himself Hermes found out another cunning art and made himself the pipes whose sound is heard afar.

Apollo shot real arrows from a twanging bow to send forth singing arrows.  He also as the father of homosexual worship used his lyre to send forth love arrows. That's another MARK.
THE MARK OF SOPHIA-ZOE: SORRY BUT THERE IS NO RECORDED EXCEPTION

The only term meaning LEGALISM ir traditionalism is teaching the words of Apollo as the sun God with instrumental music.  After all, a musical instrument is "a machine for doing hard work mostly in making war (civil) and the shockand awe of religious spectacle. This was the laded burden Jesus died to remove along with the burdenladers.

Plato, Symposium (getting fluted-down with wine)

IV. The Discourse of Pausanias: 180 C-185 C.

d The varying nomoi concerning Eros may be classified thus:—

(1) In all Greek states except Athens the nomos is simple, either (a) approving paederastia, as in Elis and Boeotia; or (b) condemning it, as in Ionia and states subject to barbarian rule, where it is held to foster a dangerous spirit of independence (e.g. Harmodius and Aristogiton).

(2) At Athens the nomos is complex. (a) Eros is approved, and its excesses condoned, when directed towards superior youths approaching manhood. (b) It appears to be condemned, in so far as parents forbid their boys to hold converse with “erastae.” The explanation of this ambiguous attitude must be sought in the principle laid down above, that the moral quality of an act depends upon the conditions of its performance. The Athenian nomos provides a test for distinguishing between good and bad forms of Eros: the test of time shows whether or not the right motive (desire for aretē) actuates both the lover and his object. This motive alone justifies all erotic pursuits and surrenders, even mutual deception: hence we conclude that kalon aretēs heneka kharizesthai.
Charismatic points specificially to a sexaul explicit: worship being "virtual" does not lessen the impact: that is why up to one half of a congregation flees when the singy-clappy boys stand in the "holy place" singing their own erotic prpaise songs: if you can feel and say "awesom" watch out.

O. 1 Yes, there are many marvels, and yet I suppose the speech of mortals beyond the true account can be deceptive, stories adorned with embroidered lies; [30] and Grace, who fashions all gentle things for men, confers esteem and often contrives to make believable the unbelievable. But the days to come are the wisest witnesses. [35] It is seemly for a man to speak well of the gods; for the blame is less that way. Son of Tantalus, I will speak of you, contrary to earlier stories. When your father invited the gods to a very well-ordered banquet at his own dear Sipylus, in return for the meals he had enjoyed, [40] then it was that the god of the splendid trident seized you, his mind overcome with desire, and carried you away on his team of golden horses to the highest home of widely-honored Zeus, to which at a later time Ganymede came also, [45] to perform the same service for Zeus.

Plato, Protogoras:
All distinguish between the low class in the market-place and the decent, educated people.

[347c] But if he does not mind, let us talk no more of poems and verses, but consider the points on which I questioned you at first, Protagoras, and on which I should be glad to reach, with your help, a conclusion.

For it seems to me that arguing about poetry is comparable to the wine-parties of common market-folk. These people, owing to their inability to carry on a familiar conversation over their wine by means of their own voices and discussions
That includes the performance preaching:

Jesus points to Isaiah 29 and Ezekiel 33 where Jesus identified the Scribes and Pharisees as "rhetoricians, singers and instrument players."

The fulfilment of Abaddon or Apollyon and Aphrodite or Zoe who is Lucifer

The recent claim by people to be indwelled by a literal "spirit" deny that Jesus as the Christ of God fulfilled all that we need to know about FULL DEITY literally indwelling a man who could never make it on the lecture circuit.  Connected with that claim is its use in what might be psychological violence to impose "musical worship teams" standing in the holy places CLAIMING to be mediators and the deliberate stirring up of strife by planned imposing musical instruments. This is also attended with a warning not to question "the leaders" who relly have no role and no Biblical funding.

I can only tell you what I read in the Bible which always points outside of itself for a fuller understanding: that is why Christ sought out disciples who worship in the PLACE of the Spirit devoted to TRUTH and quarantinedthem from the religion of the culture.  When you begin to question the Word one proof of its inspiration is that you fall into delusions and those are  spelled out in clear detail. The whole message of the Bible is that people use music to "take away the key to knowledge."  ZOE is another name for Lucifer and Christ in the prophets marks him/her/it as "a singing and harp playing prostitute" beginning in the garden of Eden. She arises in the end time as the Babylon Mother of harlots who uses rhetoricians, singers and instrument players as SORCERERS.

2:45      3.23.10
Appendix A   "spirit" is always "neuter." No one ever thought that the Mind of Christ which Paul equated to the Holy Spirit OF God (1 Corinthians 2) was another person.  The most common "pattern" in the Bible is
  1. God the Invisible, Inaudible sole Deity which no man can hear, and
  2. The Son of God in Jesus of Nazareth "has in these last days" been the SOLE spokesman for God. Jesus said that the Spirit OF truth never speaks on its own.
  3. To repudiate the universal superstition that the gods were families especially triads, and in its evil Babylonian or Egyptian example as father, mother and son, God performed a SIGN to prove that the FATHER (alone) speaks through a SON. The spirit or breath which passes between Father and Son is not another person as John 14 makes clear.
  4. If you deny that the FULL DEITY dwelled in Jesus as the Christ you are marked as an Anti-Christ.
  5. The claim to hear beyond that which is written is most often used as psychological violence to intimidate people "not to question god's anointeds" as they lead you into practices clearly outlawed within the sacred pages and most church history before the "me" generatioon.
Appendix B IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION THE LETTERS TO THE SEVEN CHURCHES SEAL UP THE REVELATION. This has Jesus as the Christ of God "making perfect" that HE is the Spirit or Word to the churches.  If He is Alpha and Omega then He is everything in between.  He sealed up the prophecies just as the Prophets speaking by Christ were sealed and off limites to further changes.

CLICK: That which is perfect is perfect: knowledge in parts yields perfect knowledge. You cannot ammend the perfect. Because church is a "school" only of the Word only for those who are disciples of Christ only, if it writes its own "scripures" in song and sermon it fulfills the sacrificial purpose driven music: to make the lambs dumb before the slaughter. Therefore, it is not possible to look at the claim to be  Second Incarnations without looking at Paul's warning of God sending strong delusions. These strong delusions are marked by the use of all of the performing arts which the Greek literature identifies as lying wonders: "Men set their lies to melodies to deceive the simple minded."  "Perfect gentlement never allows musicians at their manly conversations

7:36       3.23.10
Matthew 12:31 Warning against blaspheming the Spirit OF God.  Jesus said "the flesh counts for nothing." When He returned to His position in Glory as the Head of the Church He said "My WORDS are SPIRIT and they are Life." John 6:63.  Therefore, to deny that the Bible is the sole authority for our faith and practice is to blaspheme the FULL DEITY which dwelled in Jesus as the CHRIST of God.  To claim that the SPIRIT told you that burning goats with instrumental noise as a "unity" gesture to the nation of ISRAEL--the instrumental sect in Amos and Isaiah 5--was the Spirit telling HIM that God commanded instrumental praise for YOUR congregation and you must not disobey" is also blasphemy.  All instrumental efforts to do mind alteration on God's people has been a terminal offense.

7:06      3.25.10

Acts 7:51 the danger of resisting the Spirit.  In fact, Stephen recites the event at Mount Sinai which is repeated in Amos. They resisted the Spirit by engaging in the musical idolatry of a trinity.  In Exodus 32 they operated by self-will and just continued their Egyptian musical / trinitarian practices while Moses was warning them against PROFANING the Sabbath in Exodus 31.  The Levites PROFANED the Sabbath with noise (never called music) because they had been ABANDONED.

1:57      3.25.10
THE CHALLENGE TO OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE NATURE OF WORSHIP

Ekklesia or synagogue is directly commanded as "a School of the Word."  Music by definition from mystery intends to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter" and intends to "silence the voice of the victim. That is why music is well documented to be sacred violence.  Music is a latter-day imposition and probably fits clear prophecy.

Worship is in the PLACE of A holy spirit: it is out of reach of those Paul called the dogs.  Examining one of the proof texts we will show that blasphemy in the pagan rituals involved the invasion of singers, players and choirs.  Musical worship of a trinity at Mount Sinai was beyond redemption.  That is the message repeated in the Bible and contemporaneous Hebrew and Greek scholars: if Jesus finds rhetoricians, singers and instrument players in the congregation the LIGHTS (7 spirit candlestick) will be removed for using sorcery to deceive people.

SOME SPECIFIC PROOF TEXTS FOR OPERATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AS A SEPARATE PERSON.

I will quote John Calvin to try to save the Restoration scholars from the Bubba Gun Rack Dust Bin.  There is no credible scholar in history, including those birthed in the culture and languages of the time, who gave anyone the right to claim direct information which bypassed the Word of God. The Scriptures of the Prophets and Apostles, says Peter, are left as a way to mark false teachers as false prophets were marked.  John Calvin affirms that the church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets and not on the horrors of the sacrificial system imposed on those past redemption.

10:38 3.23.10 HOW TO IDENTIFY ANTI-CHRIST BY SIGHT AND SOUND

The writer who recorded Jesus promising another Comforter had Him say I will come to you and in the epistle says that the NAME of the Comforter is Jesus Christ the Righteous.  There is GOD and the SON of God as the only Divine and human actors in the Bible: the SON in turn claims ownership of being Father, Son and Spirit which can never be names of "people."  John said that if you don't believe in this Christ as Father-Son you are an anti-Christ

It cannot be doubted that those who have BEGUN to claim that another Spirit person actually lives in them also claim to be guided by that "spirit" to impose radical, discording and anti-Biblical practices under the name of "worship."

THE FULFILLMENT OF ABADDON OR APOLLYON AND APHRODITE OR ZOE MEANING LUCIFER.

If God did not make it very clear that there is only ONE SON or physical means of revealing His Mind (spirit) people would easily fall into delusions by strong deluders.   Spirit means OF THE MIND, Rational. Jesus wants DISCIPLES or STUDENTS: He did not invite those He called hypocrites (performing artists) but people to REST from these burdens and COME LEARN OF ME.  See Strabo on the universal association between music and magic or sorcery.

The most common warning is against worshipping the MOTHER of a DAUGHTER:
For instance, the note of  Iamblichus in Myst.1.8 defining the pagan concept of god shows how people using divination are actually filled with an evil spirit.

So, also, certain others of these ecstatics become entheast or inspired when they hear cymbals, drums, or some choral chant; as for example, those who are engaged in the Korybantic Rites, those who are possessed at the Sabazian festivals, and those who are celebrating the Rites of the Divine Mother.

Others, also, are inspired when drinking water, like the priest of the Klarian Apollo at Kolophon; others when sitting over cavities in the earth, like the women who deliver oracles at Delphi; others when affected by vapor from the water, like the prophetesses [of Bel] at Branchidæ; and others when standing in indented marks like those who have been filled from an imperceptible inflowing of the divine plerome.

Others who understand themselves in other respects become inspired through the Fancy: some taking darkness as accessory, others employing certain potions, and others depending on singing and magic figures.

3. That likewise, ecstasy or alienation of mind is a chief origin of the divining art; also the mania which occurs in diseases, mental aberration, abstinence from wine, suffusions of the body. fancies set in motion by morbid conditions or equivocal states of mind, such as may occur during abstinence and ecstasy, or apparitions got up by technical magic

12. Goeteia (goetia), or "black magic."
The belief that GOD has not fully Revealed the Divine Mind or Spirit has always created a sense of lostness. The result is to try various methods to PROVE to the person that they themselves may be the agents of God. This black magic pointing to the end time Apollo (Abaddon or Apollyon) is:

Undoubtedly the comic poet who [735] mounted the stage to praise himself in the parabasis would deserve to be handed over to the sticks of the beadles. Nevertheless, oh Muse, if it be right to esteem the most honest and illustrious of our comic writers at his proper value, permit our poet to say that he thinks he has deserved a glorious renown. First of all, he is the one who has compelled his rivals no longer [740] to scoff at rags or to war with lice; and as for those Heracleses, always chewing and ever hungry, he was the first to cover them with ridicule and to chase them from the stage; he has also dismissed that slave, whom one never failed to set weeping before you, [745] so that his comrade might have the chance of jeering at his stripes and might ask, “Wretch, what has happened to your hide? Has the lash rained an army of its thongs on you and laid your back waste?” After having delivered us from all these wearisome ineptitudes and these low buffooneries, he has built up for us a great art, like a palace with high towers, [750] constructed of fine phrases, great thoughts and of jokes not common on the streets. Moreover it's not obscure private persons or women that he stages in his comedies; but, bold as Heracles, it's the very greatest whom he attacks, undeterred by the fetid stink of leather or the threats of hearts of mud. He has the right to say, “I am the first ever dared to go straight for that beast with the sharp teeth

Plato Epinomis Plat. Epin. 987b [987b] is clearly a sign of witlessness; and as to their having got no names, the cause of it should be stated as we have done. For indeed they have received titles of gods: thus, that Lucifer, or Hesperus (which is the same), should almost belong to Aphrodite, is reasonable, and quite befitting a Syrian lawgiver; and that that which follows the same course as the sun and this together should almost belong to Hermes. Let us also note three motions of bodies travelling to the right with the moon and the sun.

Lucifer, or Hesperus, may for its beauty be connected with Aphrodite (and so got the further name of Venus)

In Amos and Isaiah music was both the cause and mark of leaders starving the people to death for lack of the Water of the Word. The text which is neither taught nor used is the cause of hungry and thirst people looking for food and drink while holding it in their hands and preaching fabricated sermons and singing non-Biblical songs.

[This short series of three posts are excerpts from my book A Spirit for the Rest of Us. I am convinced that churches of Christ must rethink our understanding of and interaction with the Holy Spirit. Without a vibrant relationship with a living, indwelling Spirit, we are left with little more than our Bibles and self-discipline for becoming the people God wants us to be. That is not a very hopeful scenario in my thinking. So perhaps the time has come for us to think through the subject of the Spirit once again. These articles are an attempt to trace out how and why our theology of the Spirit developed as it did and represent chapters 17-19 (the closing chapters) of the book. Your comments would be appreciated.]

Please note than in looking at the context of these text there comes a time when The Holy Spirit is not listed: When the Apostles ordained to reveal in PARTS by the direct guidance of The Holy Spirit of Christ is completed, the revelation in parts will be complete or perfect.  We are left with God as Deity and Jesus Christ ordained by God to be "the instrumental means" of His revelatioon containing all that we need for life and godliness.

The later writers speak of God the Father as the Deity and Jesus Christ as the Lord or Son.  John even says that if you deny that Jesus Christ is FATHER and SON you are an anti-christ.

It becomes easier if we realize that the Church of Christ really began as the Qahal, synagogue or church in the wilderness. After many Israelites refused to listen to The Book of The Covenant of Grace they rose up to play which was the musical idolatry of the Egyptian trinityunder the image of Apis the golden calf.  God turned the nation over to worship the starry host and later abandoned them to the monarchy to have the captivity and death sentence carried out.  These records were kept as Scribes or clerks of the not-commanded monarch.  Therefore, they are never considered as "patterns" for the Church of School of the Word: The prophecies by Christ--which repudiates all of the monarchy as robbers and parasites were made more certain says Peter and these: the prophecies and the prophecies made PERFECT is the resource to be used to "make the Day Star arise in our hearts."

Whatever or Whomever God anoints always works "through instrumental means" because no man can hear or know A Holy or Wholly Spirit being.

THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH OF CHRIST AS A SCHOOL OF THE SPIRIT THROUGH SCRIPTURE.

Christ as the ROCK, pillar, water, manna etc. quarantined the godly people from the sacrificial system: they came to hold a holy convocation each REST day to rest, read and rehearse the Word of God. That never changed in the Bible until after Constantine: Syriac preachers imposed singing as an ACT for the first time in the year 373.  Preaching other than reading and explaining the Biblical text developed about the same time because telling bible stories in an amusing way was very financially rewarding.

If we understand that the Campbells called church "A School of Christ" and Worship as "Reading and Musing the Word of God" we might not be so lost working so hard to "do" worship.  The assembly Paul called "synagogue" (which never had a praise service) is defined inclusively and exclusively as to READ and lean "that which is written" or "Scripture" (Rom 15).  We speak with one mind and one mouth as the exclusive way to glorify God, educate the assembly and prevent the sowing of discord. The Lord's Supper is a further teaching or "evangelism" visual aid. That is historically defined for several centuries before pagan priests flocked into the church to get a wage for the first time in history.

No new view of the godhead was introduced by the Restoration scholars: Alexander Campbell had to defend himself against the charge of being a "unitarian" and from the Bible and ALL recorded history never thought of the spirit OF something or another to be a real PERSON.  No classical trinitarian and even the first issue of the Nicene Creed included the spirit OF God as another person an more than they would consider my spirit as a separate person. It is true that Paul had conflicts between PAUL'S spirit and PAUL'S flesh.  However, it is a historic certainty scholars never though of a separate person in any of Paul's writings.

While no man knows anything about the Father that has not been revealed by the Son and therefore no one hears "beyond the sacred pages" it is true that when Christ gives US A holy spirit (our spirit sanctified) or A good conscience, consciousness or a co-perception Paul in 2 Corinthians 3 says that converts can read BLACK text on BROWN paper and even hear Paul say that the LORD IS THE SPIRIT.

Tim Woodruff: The subject of the Holy Spirit is a difficult one—particularly for those of us who stand in the stream of the American Restoration Movement at this particular time. Admit it: our relationship with the Spirit has long been a troubled one.

Tim, I have spent the last 30 years retired and the time has been devoted to a study of the "music" issue beginning with clay tablets and the recent rise of what is called Tritheism in parts of the Church of Christ (mostly the SE wing).  You cannot blame the restoration leaders for what is the universal view in all of the historic church fathers I have researched and posted.  I think that it is the SE church of Christ which is in the "slow group." When I returned to Hohenwald in 1995 I found them actually worshiping the names of father, spirit and Jesus.  A "troubled" friend wrote a short story of the battle between the Unums and the Trads.

It’s not just that, in this multi-channeled stream that makes up the universal church’s varied experience of the Spirit, our stream happens to be of the “minimalist” sort. If that explained our Spirit-impairment—that our particular channel runs a little shallower than most—there might be no need for a serious discussion of the Spirit or for the writing of this book.

You will never find any historical father or founder of denominations who claim that they heard anything beyond what He decided to keep secret and what He revealed.

John Calvin: All the Principles of Piety Subverted By Fanatics, Who Substitute Revelations For Scripture.

1.The fanatics wrongly appeal to the Holy Spirit
Those who, rejecting Scripture, imagine that they have some peculiar way of penetrating to God, are to be deemed not so much under the influence of error as madness. For certain giddy men have lately appeared, who, while they make a great display of the superiority of the Spirit, reject all reading of the Scriptures themselves, and deride the simplicity of those who only delight in what they call the dead and deadly letter.

But I wish they would tell me
what spirit it is whose inspiration raises them to such a sublime height that they dare despise the doctrine of Scripture as mean and childish.

If they answer that it is the Spirit of Christ, their confidence is exceedingly ridiculous; since they will, I presume, admit that the apostles and other believers in the primitive Church were not illuminated by any other Spirit.  None of these thereby learned to despise the word of God, but every one was imbued with greater reverence for it, as their writings most clearly testify.

And, indeed, it had been so foretold by the mouth of Isaiah. For when he says,

"My Spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever,"

But it’s more than that … much more.

Those of us who trace our roots to the American Restoration Movement have moved beyond a “minimal” involvement of the Spirit in our church and in our personal lives. We’ve gone far past merely accepting that our Spirit-experience is of the “trickle” variety.
        Our movement has attempted to dam up even the dribble, re-channel it into Scripture,
        insist that the Spirit is no longer a Person to be experienced in our hearts and lives
        but an influence that touches us only through the pages of inspired writings.
        We have denied any need for an indwelling and living Spirit.

John Calvin said that you cannot come to Christ without a supernatural and direct operation: He said that God gave us Scripture and He sent out Evangelists to teach it  That sums up "church" so the problem arises from trying to superstruct--as T. Campbell would say--an institution not faithful to Christ.

John Calvin: 3. Word and Spirit belong inseparably together

Their cavil about our cleaving to the dead letter carries with it the punishment which they deserve for despising Scripture.  It is clear that Paul is there arguing against false apostles, (2 Cor. 3: 6,) who, by recommending the law without Christ, deprived the people of the benefit of the New Covenant, by which the Lord engages that he will write his law on the hearts of believers, and engrave it on their inward parts.

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 2 Cor 3:6

The letter therefore is dead, and the law of the Lord kills its readers when it is dissevered from the grace of Christ, and only sounds in the ear without touching the heart. But if it is effectually impressed on the heart by the Spirit; if it exhibits Christ, it is the word of life converting the soul, and making wise the simple.

Jesus said: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Nay, in the very same passage, the apostle calls his own preaching the ministration of the Spirit, (2 Cor. 3: 8,) intimating that the Holy Spirit so cleaves to his own truth, as he has expressed it in Scripture, that he then only exerts and puts forth his strength when the word is received with due honour and respect.

But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 2 Cor 3:7

How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 2 Cor 3:8

Tim Woodruff: We have relied solely on the Bible and the pattern, and insisted to all who will listen that thatt should be sufficient. We’ve even gone so far as to claim that a continuing role for the Holy Spirit today would be counterproductive; it muddies the clarity of a faith built on command, example, and necessary inference and opens the door to all sorts of subjective troubles

Inferences are tricky but the Restoration leaders did not invent the concept.

Clement Pedegogue 1: Vol III Commands, Examples and Inferences Chapter 3

But what is loveable, and is not also loved by Him? And man has been proved to be loveable; consequently man is loved by God. For how shall he not be loved for whose sake the only-begotten Son is sent from the Father's bosom, the Word of faith, the faith which is superabundant; the Lord Himself distinctly confessing and saying, "For the Father Himself loveth you, because ye have loved Me; " and again, "And hast loved them as Thou hast loved Me? "

What, then, the Master desires and declares, and how He is disposed in deed and word,
how He
commands what is to be done, and forbids the opposite, has already been shown.

Plainly, then, the other kind of discourse, the didactic, is powerful and spiritual, observing precision, occupied in the contemplation of mysteries.

But let it stand over for the present.
Now
, it is incumbent on us to return His love, who lovingly guides us to that life which is best;
        and to live in accordance with the
injunctions of His will
        not only fulfilling what is
commanded,
        or guarding against what is forbidden,

but turning away from some examples, and imitating others as much as we can, and thus to perform the works of the Master according to His similitude, and so fulfil what Scripture says as to our being made in His image and likeness.

For, wandering in life as in deep darkness, we need a guide that cannot stumble or stray; and our guide is the best, not blind, as the Scripture says, "leading the blind into pits."

See Warfield below where Calvin rejected inferences.  If God could make Himself known in a lowly body made up of about 85% water whey would it be amazing that He can put His Mind or Spirit in a book: earthen vessels rips away human pride.

History is certain that some things can be inferred.  However, the historic church of Christ has not inferred any of its key doctrines. Rather, the instrumentalists lay claim to the silence of Scripture, traditionalism and church decisions as ways "beyond Scripture" for its authority.

For instance, Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. He quoted from Isaiah and a parallel passage in Ezekiel 33. There the Spirit OF Christ identified hypocrites as entertaining speakers, singers and instrument players. Jesus did not say "thou shalt not be a hypocrite" but it is safe to infer that he may not speak to us as He refused to speak to them other than through parables to keep the truth from them.

John Calvin:

To observe, therefore, the legitimate boundary on this side also, we must recur to the word of the Lord,
which affords a certain rule for the understanding.
        For the Scripture is the school of the Holy Spirit

        in which, as nothing necessary and useful to be known is omitted,
        so nothing is taught which is not beneficial to know
.
Let us, I say, allow the Christian to unlock his mind and ears to all the words of God
which are addressed to him, provided he do it with this moderation
,

viz., that whenever the Lord shuts his sacred mouth, he also desists from inquiry.
The best rule of sobriety is, not only in learning to follow wherever God leads,
        but also when he makes an end of teaching, to cease also from wishing to be wise.
        John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion , book 3. Chapter 21 p. 3

Of those who claim the right to write a "narrative" for their time:

Testimony of the Spirit 3.8.7 2. These ravings are admirably refuted by a single expression of an apostle. Paul testifies that the Church is “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,” (Eph. 2:20)

If the doctrine of the apostles and prophets is the foundation of the Church, the former must have had its certainty before the latter began to exist. Nor is there any room for the cavil, that though the Church derives her first beginning from thence, it still remains doubtful what writings are to be attributed to the apostles and prophets, until her Judgment is interposed.
        For if the Christian Church was founded at first on the writings of the prophets,
        and the preaching of the apostles that doctrine, wheresoever it may be found,
        was certainly ascertained and sanctioned antecedently to the
Church,
        since, but for this, the Church herself never could have existed.
     [The French adds, “Comme le fondement va deuant l’edifice;”—as the foundation goes before the house].
Nothings therefore can be more absurd than the fiction,
        that the power of judging Scripture is in the Church,
        and that on her nod its certainty depends.
All historic fathers taught and understood the Scriptures to teach that no one had to go beyond what is written.  In 2 Peter 1 Peter proves that the apostles received revelation face to face from God in Christ, had it confirmed by supernatural signs and left a "memory" so that we will know what they knew. He further outlaws "private interpretation" or "further expounding" and left this as a MARK to identify false teachers as the Prophetical writings by the Spirit OF Christ would mark the false teachers.

Tim Woodruff: We have moved dangerously close to the point of resisting the Spirit, grieving the Spirit, insulting the Spirit, and quenching the Holy Spirit’s fire: a position that Scripture repeatedly—and sternly—warns us against.[1]

Matthew 12: 31 a case of blashphemy against the Spirit OF Christ or the Spirit OF GOD

[1]  Matthew 12:31;

Matt. 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God,
        then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
Matt. 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house,
        and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man?
        and then he will spoil his house.
Matt. 12:30 He that is not with me is against me;
        and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Matt. 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you,
        All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men:
        but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

Matt. 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him:
        but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost,
        it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Matt. 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good;
        or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
Matt. 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things?
        for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Matt. 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things:
        and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Matt. 12:36 But I say unto you,
        That every idle word that men shall speak,
        they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Matt. 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Matt. 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying,
        Master, we would see a sign from thee.
Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: He pointed to Isaiah and the paralley in Ezekiel 33: there as the SPIRIT OF CHRIST in the Prophets called the hypocrites rhetoricians, singers and instrument players. Singing and instruments was a MARK of those who had no intention of obeying the Words of God:

Christ as Spirit in the prophets promised:
Isa 59:20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion,
        and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord.

Is 59:21
As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD;
        My SPIRIT that is upon thee
, and
        My WORDS which I have put in thy mouth,
                shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed,
                nor out of the mouth of thy
seeds seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.

This is a parallelism: both SPIRIT or WORDS are in our MOUTH for ever. Isaiah does not have to say that the spirit will never depart from us.

Whatever God delivers to mankind is a TEST to weed out the false teachers or prophets?

Is.8:20
To the law and to the testimony:
        if they speak not according to this word,
        it is because there is no light in them

BLASPHEMING THE SPIRIT IS TO DO ANYTHING WHICH HINDERS THE WORDS OF CHRIST THE SPIRIT

Athenian
Well, in our part of the world this is what happens, one may almost say, in nearly every one of the States. Whenever a magistrate holds a public sacrifice, the next thing is for a crowd of choirs— not merely one—to advance and take their stand, not at a distance from the altars,

Mant-eia prophetic power, mode of divination

Phtheggomai speak loud and clear of battle-cry, the recitative of the chorus, sound of trumpets, flute, lyre playing the harp and making religious melody, to clap the hands.

Plat. Laws 7.800d [800d] but often quite close to them;
        and then they let out a flood of blasphemy over the sacred offerings,
        racking the souls of their audience with words, rhythms and tunes most dolorous,
        and the man that succeeds at once in drawing most tears from the sacrificing city carries off the palm of victory.

Blasphemy is to RACK or TEACH the souls of the audience with words, rhythms and tunes most delorous.
This is CONTRARY to the demand of the SPIRIT OF CHRIST.

1Cor. 14:9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood,

1Cor. 14:19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding,
        that by my voice I might teach others also,
        than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

Paul equated speaking in tongues to the sounds of lifless musical instruments.

BECAUSE PEOPLE WHO SOW TO THE FLESH DO NOT SOW THE SPIRIT WORD.
Gal. 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked:

Gal. 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;

For instance, singing, humming or playing instruments during the Lord's Supper might be blasphemy. Singing our own silly, erotic songs to deliberately violate all of the DIRECT COMMANDS to use "that which is written for our learning." If we don't want to lear what the Spirit OF Christ said, and claim that your own songs are spirit-inspired isn't that blasphemy?
Must we not reject [note] such a custom as this? For if it is ever really necessary that the citizens should listen to such doleful  [sad, sentimental] strains,
        it would be more fitting that the choirs that attend should be hired from abroad,

Thence, swift as thought, he speeds from earth to Olympus, to the house of Zeus, to join the gathering of the other gods:

When Xuthus' revealed son was holding a libation among the rest, one of the slaves said a profane word; [1190] he, as one brought up within the temple and with expert seers, thought it an omen and required another goblet to be filled afresh. 1 See note on Dem. 1.20.
Dem. 18 95 I wish to show you that the attack Aeschines made on the Euboeans and the Byzantines by raking up old stories of their disobliging conduct towards you, was mere spiteful calumny,—not only because, as I think you all must know, those stories are false, but because, even if they were entirely true, the merits of my policy are not affected,—by relating, with due brevity, two or three of the noble actions of your own commonwealth; for the public conduct of a state, like the private conduct of a man, should always be guided by its most honor able traditions.

Aeschin. 1 167
His offensive talk against Philip is foolish and out of place, but not so serious a mistake as that which I am about to mention. For confessedly he will be making his slanderous charges [ against a man—he who is himself no man. But when he insinuates shameful suspicions [blasphēmias poiēsetai:] against the boy, by deliberately applying to him words of double meaning [paremballē], he makes our city ridiculous.
Poieo to represent in poetry, in this case to slander the boy:
Aeschin. 1 168 For, under the impression that he is hurting me with reference to the accounting which I am about to render for my service on the embassy, he says that when the other day he himself was describing the boy Alexander, telling how at a certain banquet of ours he played the cithara, reciting certain passages in which there were thrusts at another boy, and when he reported to the senate what he himself happened to know about the incident, I got angry at his jests at the expense of the boy,2 as though I were not merely a member of the embassy, but one of the boy's own family.

1 See the Introduction to Aeschin. 2.

2 The words of double meaning that Aeschines says Demosthenes applied to the boy Alexander would be connected with the story of this “playing” and “reciting.”

See Tom Burgess and the NACC proofs: Alexander's skillful PLUCKING is one of the identical proof passages that psallo meant to PLAY an instrument: the fact is that these proofs all point to men trying to seduce a boy.

Rev. 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded,
        and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth:
        and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
Rev. 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit;
        and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace;
        and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
Rev. 9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth:
        and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

In John's culture the LOCUSTS were the Muses or Apollo's musical worship team: they were known as sorcerers.

Dem. 25 51 [51] Just consider. There are something like twenty thousand citizens in all. Every single one of them frequents the market-place on some business (you may be sure), either public or private. Not so the defendant. He cannot point to any decent or honorable business in which he has spent his life; he does not use his talents in the service of the State; he is not engaged in a profession or in agriculture or in any other business; he takes no part in any charitable or social organization.

[52] but he makes his way through the market-place [Agora] like a snake or a scorpion with sting erect, darting hither and thither, on the look-out for someone on whom he can call down disaster or calumny or mischief of some sort, or whom he can terrify till he extorts money from him. He never calls at the barber's or the perfumer's or any other shop in the city. He is implacable, restless, unsociable; he has no charity, no friendliness, none of the feelings of a decent human being; he is attended by those companions whom painters couple with the damned souls in hell—by Malediction, Evil-speaking blasphēmias , Envy, Faction, Dissension.

Rev. 9:11 And they had a king over them,
        which is the angel of the bottomless pit,
        whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon,
        but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Ăpollo

Apollōn, Apollo, son of Jupiter and Latona, twinbrother of Diana, and god of the sun. On account of his omniscience, god of divination; on account of his lightnings (belē), god of archery (hence represented with quiver and dart), and of the pestilence caused by heat; but, since his priests were the first physicians, also god of the healing art; and since he communicated oracles in verse, god of poetry and music, presiding over the Muses, etc.; cf. Hor. C. S. 61 sq. In more ancient times, represented as a protecting deity, by a conical pillar in the streets and highways (Apollo Agyieus, v. Agyieus and Müll. Denkm. 2). In the class. period of the arts, represented with weapons, the cithara, a crown of laurel, etc., with hair commonly flowing down upon his neck, but sometimes collected together and fastened up (akersekomēs), as a blooming youth (meirakion);

Belos weapon, sting of a scorpion, denotes sudden, easy death of men and woman, the shaft of love.

Graces, sing of the city of Danaus and his fifty daughters on their splendid thrones, Hera's Argos, a home suitable for a god; it blazes with countless excellences because of its bold deeds. Long indeed is the story of Perseus and the Gorgon Medusa, [5] and many are the cities founded in Egypt by the devising of Epaphus. Nor did Hypermnestra go astray, when she restrained in its scabbard her sword, which was alone in its verdict. And once the golden-haired, gray-eyed goddess made Diomedes an immortal god; and the earth in Thebes, thunder-struck by the bolts of Zeus, swallowed up the prophetic son of Oicles, Amphiaraus, the storm-cloud of war.

Epaphus is Apis, worshipped musically at Mount Sinai and all of the not-commanded bull sacrifices.  His father is Phoebus or Apollo.

G2342 thērion thay-ree'-on Diminutive from the same as G2339 ; a dangerous animal:—(venomous, wild) beast.

Because John is writing in symbolic language so that discerning people could recognize the return of the Beginning time Babylon mother of harlots (went into hell with his/her harps and buried alive harpists). As the king of Tyre personifying Lucifer she/he is the singing and harp playing prostitute in the garden of Eden.  Therefore, we should at least allow meanings beyond the literal.
Thērion a beast can be a literal beast but the end-time church is not likely to ride on a literal beast

Homer 5 to Aphrodite) ZOE  HH 5 4  [LATIN]  [1] Muse, tell me the deeds of golden Aphrodite the Cyprian, who stirs up sweet passion in the gods and subdues the tribes of mortal men and birds that fly in air and all the many creatures [5] that the dry land rears, and all that the sea: all these love the deeds of rich-crowned Cytherea.

Damazo tame, break in animals
Of maidens, make subject to a husband
Subdue, conquer
To bring the gods down or low. Iliad.9.118
Subdue, gain the mastery over, epithumian
Yet there are three hearts that she cannot bend nor yet ensnare. First is the daughter of Zeus who holds the aegis, bright-eyed Athena; for she has no pleasure in the deeds of golden Aphrodite, [10] but delights in wars and in the work of Ares, in strifes and battles and in preparing famous crafts. She first taught earthly craftsmen to make chariots of war and cars variously wrought with bronze, and she, too, teaches tender maidens in the house
        [15] and puts knowledge of goodly arts in each one's mind.
        Nor does laughter-loving Aphrodite ever tame in love Artemis,
        the huntress with shafts of gold; for she loves archery
        and the slaying of wild beasts in the mountains,
        the lyre [Phormigx Apolllo's Lyre] also and dancing and thrilling cries

[20] and shady woods and the cities of upright men. Nor yet does the pure maiden Hestia love Aphrodite's works. She was the first-born child of wily Cronos and youngest too, by will of Zeus who holds the aegis, —a queenly maid whom both Poseidon and Apollo sought to wed. [25] But she was wholly unwilling, nay, stubbornly refused; and touching the head of father Zeus who holds the aegis, she, that fair goddess, swear a great oath which has in truth been fulfilled, that she would be a maiden all her days. So Zeus the Father gave her an high honor instead of marriage, [30] and she has her place in the midst of the house and has the richest portion. In all the temples of the gods she has a share of honor, and among all mortal men she is chief of the goddesses.

Plat. Phaedrus 240b [240b] has mingled with most of them some temporary pleasure; so, for instance, a flatterer is a horrid creature and does great harm, yet Nature has combined with him a kind of pleasure that is not without charm, and one might find fault with a courtesan as an injurious thing, and there are many other such creatures and practices which are yet for the time being very pleasant; but a lover is not only harmful to his beloved

[215] I happened to be at a distance from this land, when I heard of strange evils throughout this city, that the women have left our homes in contrived Bacchic rites, and rush about in the shadowy mountains, honoring with dances [220] this new deity Dionysus, whoever he is. I hear that mixing-bowls stand full in the midst of their assemblies, and that they each creep off different ways into secrecy to serve the beds of men, on the pretext that they are Maenads worshipping; [225] but they consider Aphrodite before Bacchus.

As many of them as I have caught, servants keep in the public strongholds with their hands bound, and as many as are absent I will hunt from the mountains, [I mean Ino and Agave, who bore me to Echion, and [230] Autonoe, the mother of Actaeon.] And having bound them in iron fetters, I will soon stop them from this ill-working revelry. And they say that some stranger has come, a sorcerer, a conjuror from the Lydian land, [235] fragrant in hair with golden curls, having in his eyes the wine-dark graces of Aphrodite. He is with the young girls day and night, alluring them with joyful mysteries. If I catch him within this house, [240] I will stop him from making a noise with the thyrsos and shaking his hair, by cutting his head off.

Plato in Republic 3
Certainly, he said; that is the model which such a speaker must necessarily take.
But there is another sort of character who will narrate anything, and,
the worse lie is, the more unscrupulous he will be;
nothing will be too bad for him: and he will be ready to
imitate anything, not as a joke,
but in right good earnest, and before a large company.

As I was just now saying, he will attempt to represent the roll of thunder,
        the noise of wind and hall, or the creaking of wheels, and pulleys,
        and the various sounds of flutes; pipes, trumpets, and all sorts of instruments:
        he will bark like a dog, bleat like a sheep, or crow like a cock;
        his entire art will consist in imitation of voice and gesture,
        and there will be very little narration.

And therefore when any one of these pantomimic gentlemen, who are so clever that they can imitate anything, comes to us, and makes a proposal to exhibit himself and his poetry,

we will fall down and worship him as a sweet and holy and wonderful being;
but we must also inform him that in our State
such as he are not permitted to exist; the law will not allow them.

And so when we have
anointed him with myrrh, and set a garland of wool upon his head,
we shall send him away to another city
. For we mean to employ for our souls' health
the rougher and severer poet or story-teller, who will imitate the style of the virtuous only,

and will follow those models which we prescribed at first when we began the education of our soldiers.

b Similarly with music. The “discordant concord” of Heraclitus hints at the power of music to harmonize sounds previously in discord, and divergent times. Thus music is “the science of Erotics in regard to harmony and rhythm.” It is less in the pure theory than in applied music (metrical compositions and their educational use) that the dual nature of Eros comes to light; when it does, the Eros Pandemos must be carefully guarded against.

d Lastly, in religion, it is the disorderly Eros which produces the impiety which it is the function of divination to cure; and religion may be defined as “the science of human Erotics in regard to piety.”

Acts 7:51 RESISTING THE SPIRIT

The Israelites RESISTED THE HOLY SPIRIT by profaning the Sabbath.  Moses was writing Exodus 31 outlawing musical idolatry.  However, the people hearing SILENCE because they refused to listen to God rose up in musical idolatry.  For this they were turned over to worship the starry host which they did for the entire period of the wilderness and the Monarchy.
Acts 7:53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
Acts 7:54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven,
        and saw the glory of God,
        and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
Acts 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened,
        and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
Acts 7:57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
Acts 7:58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him:
        and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.
Acts 7:59 And they stoned Stephen,
        calling upon God,
        and saying, Lord Jesus,
        receive my spirit.
Christ laid aside His full majesty and glory on the "throne" and took on the clothing of a human, Jesus of Nazareth.  In Isaiah 59 God said that He would seend His HAND or ARM as the only intercessor.  It is logical that when Christ returned to His Majesty, He said down beside His full Deity.

1 Thessalonians 5:19;

Ephesians 4:30; Hebrews 10:29
See the Fruit of the Spirit

In the prophets, especially Isaiah, Christ in Spirit spells out the evil condition in Jerusalem.  Understanding that spirit literally just means WIND, He promised to pour out the spirit OF FIRE and the spirit OF JUDGMENT.  John was speaking of the false Jews as a race of vipers and promised that those who were not fit to be baptized in water would be baptized by the HOLY WIND and FIRE. The context is of separating the chaff from the wheat and this was accomplished by His BREATH manifested in the upper room as wind and fire.  The chaff will be heaped up and burned.  The preaching of the apostles literally separated the small amount of wheat which fled Jerusalem while a million unbelievers were burned up probably at Topheth or "hell."

Stephen in Acts (parallel to Christ speaking through Amos), in fact, makes it clear that when Israel "rose up to play" they QUENCHED and GRIEVED the Spirit OF CHRIST. That is, they violated the direct command:

Acts 7:41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

Acts 7:42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

Acts 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears,
        ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

In Exodus 31 God was commanding through Moses that they not profane the Sabbath or rest days.  Because the people had refuse to listen to God, they--operating on silence-rose up in musical idolatry of the Egyptian trinity.

When men began to search the Scriptures as a dangerous practice under the rule of the State Churches, they met in small groups, read the Word and discussed it: they called this PROPHESYING. "Prophesying" in Corinth could be reading or teaching that which had been taught or the musical practices of the Mad Women of Corinth.

John Calvin: In like manner, when Paul says to the Thessalonians, "Quench not the Spirit,"he does not carry them aloft to empty speculation apart from the word; he immediately adds, "Despise not prophesying," (1 Thess. 5: 19, 20.)

By this, doubtless, he intimates that the light of the Spirit is quenched the moment prophesying fall into contempt.  How is this answered by those swelling enthusiasts, in whose idea the only true illumination consists, in carelessly laying aside, and bidding adieu to the Word of God, while, with no less confidence than folly, they fasten upon any dreaming notion which may have casually sprung up in their minds?

Surely a very different sobriety becomes the children of God.  As they feel that without the Spirit of God they are utterly devoid of the light of truth, so they are not ignorant that the word is the instrument by which the illumination of the Spirit is dispensed.  They know of no other Spirit than the one who dwelt and spake in the apostles--the Spirit by whose oracles they are daily invited to the hearing of the word.

There are two arenas for the Christian: one is in the ekklesia / synagogue or school of the Bible and the other is "outside of the church."

Heb. 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers,
        ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God;
        and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Rule for all speaking roles:

1Pet. 4:11 If any man speak,
        let him speak as the oracles of God;

Rule for all service role:

if any man minister,
        let him do it as of the ability which God giveth:
that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ,
        to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

THAT WHICH IS PERFECT IS PERFECT KNOWLEDGE: you cannot improve on the perfect.

The third line of argument concerned the role of Scripture in the history of the church and the lives of individual believers. When the Apostles died, the last link to a sustainable and miraculous experience of the Spirit also died—apostolic “hands” were gone. But, thankfully, Christians no longer needed those gifts because, by the time the Apostles exited, the Spirit had given believers the New Testament.

All periods of great miracles as SIGNS and WONDERS has been as the anouncing of events like the PROPHETS used by Christ to repudiate the sacrificial system. Miracles were never utilitarian: you will remember that Christ almost became a scapegoat and cast over a hill because He told the clergy that miracles were RARE: in the case of feeding the widow her response was no some psychologial experience but she said "Now I know that you speak for God" or something like that.

B. B. Warfield (1851-1921) There is no mistaking the note of confidence in his teaching, and it is perhaps not surprising that this note of confidence irritates his critics. They resent the air of finality he gives to his declarations, not staying to consider that he gives them this air of finality because he presents them, not as his teachings, but as the teachings of the Holy Spirit in His inspired Word. Calvin's positiveness of tone is thus the mark not of extravagance but of sobriety and restraint. He even speaks with impatience of speculative, and what we may call inferential theology, and he is accordingly himself spoken of with impatience by modern historians of thought as a "merely Biblical theologian," who is, therefore, without any real doctrine of God, such as Zwingli has. The reproach, if it be a reproach, is just. Calvin refused to go beyond "what is written"--written plainly in the book of nature or in the book of revelation. He insisted that we can know nothing of God, for example, except what He has chosen to make known to us in His works and Word; all beyond this is but empty fancy, which merely "flutters" in the brain. And it was just because he refused to go one step beyond what is written that he felt so sure of his steps. He could not present the dictates of the Holy Ghost as a series of debatable propositions.

The New Testament became for us (and—in this view—for all believers living after the Apostolic Age) what the miraculous gifts had been in the first century. Did signs and wonders prompt faith then? The gospel, as proclaimed by the Apostles, does so no. Did the Spirit remind disciples of “everything I have said to you?” The New Testament does that for us. Did the Spirit teach and mature and reveal God to the church? The Bible functions to accomplish that today.

CHRIST GIVES US A HOLY SPIRIT AT BAPTISM AND ADDS US TO HIS SCHOOL OF THE WORD.

Calvin understand that the Spirit of God enlightens the mind about Scriptures but never "beyond the sacred pages." Paul affirms that those who are not converted will never be able to fully understand: that's why God gives us A holy spirit (Acts 2:38) or A good conscience (1 Peter 3:21).

We are baptized INTO Christ to become a disciple of Christ: He is the sole TEXT in the prophets and aposltes. Therefore, a believer cannot need or want anything which destroys the Bible class as ekklesia or synagogue.

Some women in Corinth had served as the oracle of Apollo (Abaddon, Apollyon) backed up with the Muses as his musical worship team. They believed that the gibberish induced by gas, wine or music was the voice of the gods (demons) (the women replaced the older prophesying goats).  The priests interpreted the gibberish to fit the question in the "sealed envelope" and the musician set it to verse and sang the misleading information to the "customer."  I chapter 12 Paul defines the supernatural gifts but in an ironic way because none of them had the ability to be PROPHETS and reveal the Word of God in Christ.  Paul speaks of the gongs and clangs of the musical pagans as well as the practice of scapegoating a couple each year to be burned to appease the gods.  Paul makes a distinciton between the WE or apostles and the YOU as the listeners.

We appealed to 1 Corinthians 13:8-12 (or at least a tortured reading of that passage which has little support anywhere beyond our own circles) to demonstrate the inadequacy of the Spirit’s gifts and the sufficiency of the New Testament canon.

ALL scholarship which we have searched defines Apostolic Succession as new presbyters being appointed when an older one passes away to guarantee that NO ONE adds to or subtracts from the APOSTOLIC RECORD.  I am aware of no one who did not consider the only authority as that which was validated by Christ in the apostles and prophets. Yea, even the CENI is Biblical and defended by all church fathers and founders of denominations. Even those who claim that the Spirit speaks to them "beyond the sacred pages" always go INSIDE of the sacred pages to try to prove their point.

Clement of Rome to Corinth Chapter XLV.-It is the Part of the Wicked to Vex the Righteous.

[And who did not rejoice over your perfect and well-grounded knowledge? ]
Ye are fond of contention, brethren, and full of zeal about things which do not pertain to salvation.
      Look carefully into the Scriptures,
      which are the true utterances of the Holy Spirit.
      Observe that nothing of an unjust or counterfeit character is written in them.

There you will not find that the righteous were cast off by men who themselves were holy.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Irenaeus (ca. 150)
Against Heresies 3.1.1
“We have learned from none others the plan of our salvation, than from those through whom the gospel has come down to us, which they did at one time proclaim in public, and, at a later period, by the will of God, handed down to us in the Scriptures, to be the ground and pillar of our faith.”

“Neither dare one agree with catholic bishops if by chance they err in anything, but the result that their opinion is against the canonical Scriptures of God.”

Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274)
Summa Theologiae, Question 1, art. 8
“For our faith rests on the revelation made to the Prophets and Apostles who wrote the canonical books.”

We used this passage to teach that the miraculous work of the Spirit (all that messy prophecy and tongues and special knowledge) belonged to another time, a “childish time,” a time of immaturity and special measures. Now, however, the “perfect” has come and the imperfect can disappear, go away, cease.

How could we trust a message from God which--in the postmodern (tee hee) world--is always shifting, how could we believe that He had the ability to teach us counter-cultural values which cannot change when someone navigates new winds?

Christ in Spirit spoke to the spiritual people in the prophets: as far as I know people never claimed authority to add to or subtract from the record. That record is still available in its written form and the command for the church  is to teach the PROPHETS and APOSTLES. The Church has no other responsibility but to teach that which has been taught.

Christ warns about sorcerers who use musical sounds:
"The spirits were thought to speak in murmurings or piping sounds (Isa 8:19), which could be imitated by the medium (ventriloquist)...Most spiritual and popular was the interpretation of dreams.
It also was the case that mediums intentionally would convert themselves into a semi-waking trance. In this way the suitable mediums attained to a certain kind of clairvoyance, found among various peoples. This approaches the condition of an ecstatically aroused pseudo-prophet.. In Greece, too, oracles were pronounced by the Phythian prophetess who by vapors and the like was aroused to a practice of the mantic art. (Int Std Bible Ency, p. 2466)

That is why John in Revelation 18 identifies the rhetoricians, singers and instrument players as SORCERERS who HAD deceived the whole world.  The Craftsmen who will be removed are principally "theater builders and stage managers."
Is. 8:19 And when they shall say unto you,
        Seek unto them that have familiar spirits,
        and unto wizards that peep,
        and that mutter:

Is. 8:20 To the law and to the testimony:
        if they speak not according to this word,
        it is because there is no light in them.
Is. 8:21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

And what is the “perfect”? The “perfect” must be (what else could it be?) the full and complete revelation of God and his will contained in the canonical books of the New Testament. With the closing “Amen” of Revelation, with the gathering of the Apostles’ writings into a single collection, with the distribution of that collection to the church of the second century, the Spirit managed to exchange the fading miraculous gifts with that “living, active word that perfectly fit our maturing needs. Thankfully and at last, we were able to “put childish ways behind” us, to think like adults, and to “know fully even as [we were] fully known.”

IF A PUZZLE COMES IN PARTS THEN WHAT DO YOU HAVE WHEN THE PARTS ARE COLLECTED?

Because we missed Restoration and Bible fact that ekklesia / synagogue is a school of the Bible then you don't have to fall into a pool of sweat because you are unhappy with the textbook.  The concept of being made into a disciple should define what does a disciple do?  Does a disciple do acts of ceremonial legalism? No, Jesus gave us rest from the laded burden and the burden laders: this burden defines the arousal singing styles which, then and now, have a tone of desperation that people don't know just how to appease or REPAY God by "creating spiritual anxiety through religious rituals."

If GRACE has appeared teaching us how to exclude and include we don't have to work so hard proving that if we violate direct commands about making instrumental noises in the ekklesia / synagogue the GRACE will cover it up better than my Newfoundland.

All Jesus asks a disciple to do is to assemble to speak that which is written to educate, praise God who wrote all of the resources permitted.  Why would anyone need a tutor to overpower their will and make them into a second incarnation?

Out with the spiritual gifts, in with James and Titus and Acts.

[It didn’t matter that the only thing holding up this conclusion was an exegetical house of cards that could not survive serious (or even casual!) examination. It didn’t matter that Paul wasn’t talking about inspired Scripture anywhere in the context of these verses or that the word “perfect” is almost always used to describe an attribute of persons: maturity, completion, wisdom.

We will show that Paul is using common terms which means the completion of the collected history.

The Bible writers were inspired to accomplish a mission: our Bible is a library of books written by many people recording the real encounters with God.  All historic societies understood that the great epics of their faith were to be used to inculcate values into the people without their having to experience the horrors.  None of the Bible is LYRIC and cannot be sung musically if your life depended on it. We had to wait until after the Reformation before anyone attempted what we call singing.  Epic instills masculine values: lyric does the opposite.  How is it that we have run out of resources to use in obeying the direct commands to speak that which is written.

PEOPLE CAN EASILY WREST PAUL'S TEACHING TO THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION

As in much of the Bible the language is that common to the society in which they lived. We are not left to guess what the PARTS and COMPLETE meant at the time.  If the Apostles Jesus commissioned to leave us an example (written) through the Apostles did NOT complete their commission then how can we trust people who see visions or have the spirit tell them to lie about the text?

IF 100 PEOPLE HAVE THE ASSIGNMENT TO COLLECT THE HISTORY OF THE USA IN PARTS, WHEN THEY PUT ALL OF THE PARTS TOGETHER IT IS A PERFECT HISTORY AND YOU DON'T KEEP ON COLLECTING PARTS WHICH USUALLY CONFLICT FROM THOSE WHO CLAIM TO HAVE THE AUTHORITY OF THE PROPHETS AND APOSTLES.

1Cor. 13:9 For WE know in part, and WE prophesy in part.
1Cor. 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come,
        then that which is in part shall be done away.

What are the PARTS made of?

The PARTS are parts of knowledge and prophesy or teaching those parts of knowledge.
When you put the PARTS of knowledge together that which is PERFECT is knowledge: cannot be anything else.
The same Spirit says that we have everything that God in Christ wanted to know.

And whoever founds a State elsewhere at any time must make this same object the aim of his legislation,—not the advantage of a few tyrants, or of one, or of some form of democracy, but justice always; and this consists in what we have just stated, namely, the natural equality given on each occasion to things unequal. None the less, it is necessary for every State at times to employ even this equality in a modified degree, if it is to avoid involving itself in intestine discord, in one section or another,—for the reasonable and considerate

Laws 6.757e [757e] [meros] wherever employed, is an infringement of the perfect [teleou] and exact, as being contrary to strict justice; for the same reason it is necessary to make use also of the equality of the lot, on account of the discontent of the masses, and in doing so to pray, calling upon God and Good Luck to guide for them the lot aright towards the highest justice. Thus it is that necessity compels us to employ both forms of equality;

This exactly shows how the Apostles looked at real problems in each church and prescribed a PART of the Will of Christ which would remedy it in all churches.  The perfected is pretty much a "how not to conduct church."

It would have given greater pleasure to readers and more instruction to students.

Tim Woodruff: Never mind that the New Testament bears witness to the ability of others besides the Apostles to lay on hands and convey this fuller measure of the Spirit. Ananias did it with Saul.[5] Elders of the church did it with Timothy.[6] Timothy himself appears to have this ability to pass on gifts to his churches.[7] If we could just ignore these inconvenient passages, however, we could justify a cessationist view of the miraculous spiritual gifts: they stopped when the Apostles were no longer around to pass them on to God’s people.

As an engineer, I can never look at a spot on a device and try to define it technically. I do run on but it keeps me out of jail.

JESUS CHRIST THE SPIRIT DID NOT COMMISSION US FOR THIS TASK.

We need to define how God in Christ can exercise His will and He did by a PERSONAL message to Ananias. None of us fit that patternism.

Max Lucado clearly said that he that he had a vision to remove the confession of "Christ" and impose instrumental music after denying that he would do it on Sunday. As I understand Rubel Shelly and John York they claim new glasses to "work out their salvation" which they interpret as "a new set of scriptures" and writing themselves in.  Rick Atchley is on record claiming the Holy Spirit spoke to him about outing his hidden agenda.  I believe that such a claim is blasphemy because it forces the Spirit or Mind of Christ to lie for them.

CHRIST ALWAYS HAS THE RIGHT TO GO BEYOND WHAT HE AUTHORIZED THE APOSTLES TO DO.

As background, when Miriam claimed that her musical prophesying (soothsaying) was God speaking through her, she was informed:
Num. 12:5 And the LORD [Christ] came down in the pillar of the cloud,
        and stood in the door of the tabernacle,
        and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
Num. 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you
        I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
Num. 12:7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
Num. 12:8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth,
        even apparently, and not in dark speeches;
        and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold:
        wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
Num. 12:9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed.
Num. 12:10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle;
        and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow:
        and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

Deut. 24:9 Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.
The very recent rise of what John Mark Hicks calls a neo-trinitarianism credits Rubel Shelly and Max Lucado but it really began with H. Leo Boles and probably whipped up recently by the "resurrection" of KC Moser.  This may have damaged people like Rick Atchley who claimed that the Spirit told him he was going to have to "out" his secret agenda which was to impose instruments knowing that he would deliberately sow discord. I believe Paul calls that "strong delusions" and the lying wonders points specificially to using the performing (hypocritic) arts and crafts in the School (only) of the Word (only)

THEREFORE, WE SEE ANANIAS AS A SPECIAL CASE EVEN AS PAUL BECAME AN APOSTLE "AFTER APOSTLE SEASON" AS THE LAST APOSTLE.  If you shoot a deer after "deer season" count on it, a warden will be watching.

Even in this case the Spirit Jesus Christ uses instrumental means.

Acts 9:9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
Acts 9:10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias;
        and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias.
        And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
Acts 9:11 And the Lord said unto him,
        Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight,
        and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

Acts 9:12 And [Paul] hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in,
        and putting his hand on him,
        that he might receive his sight.

Acts 9:13 Then Ananias answered,
        Lord, I have heard by many of this man,
        how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
Acts 9:14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him,
        Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me,
        to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
Acts 9:16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

I believe that when people got a direct mission from God in Christ they were sent out to suffer and die and not be rich and famous.
THE ACTS 22 ACCOUNT WHERE PAUL WENT TO JERUSALEM TO BE CAPTURED OR KILLED.
Acts 22:6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey,
        and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon,
        suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.
Acts 22:7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me,
        Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Acts 22:8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord?
        And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
Acts 22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid;
        but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
Acts 22:10 And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me,
        Arise, and go into Damascus;
        and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
Acts 22:11 And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
Acts 22:12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
Acts 22:13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
Acts 22:14 And he said,

The God of our fathers hath chosen thee,
        that thou shouldest know his will, [be filled with spirit]
        and see that Just One,
        and shouldest
hear the voice of his mouth.
Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men
        of what thou hast
seen and heard.
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou?
        arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins,
        calling on the name of the Lord.

I don't see how you can have another God person inside of your carnal body without being an EYE- and EAR witness of Jesus Christ.  In fact those who have imposed musical instruments CLAIM that they were guided into violating all of the Bible and recorded history.
You can never be a witness of Christ other than what you HEARD and what you SAW.  That is why self-willed men are forced to CLAIM to have seen visions, heard audible voices or had the spirit tell you "right in the middle of a sermon." I believe that is psychological violence.

BACK TO ACTS 9

Acts 9:17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house;
        and putting his hands on him said,
        Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee

        hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight,
        and be filled with the Holy Spirit (Mind of Christ].

This is a quicky review which may not read too well in the morning.

I will look at this later.  P.S. When people use the phrase "our heritage" they are saying that this is a virus we caught from out godly ancestors who lived in the old "modern" era.  Their's was not a knee jerk reaction but something they had always held for the 1800 plus years of recorded history.  John Calvin even said that anyone who thinks that they get "spirit" without reading the Word is a fanatic.

SECOND PART:

Tim Woodruff: Elders of the church did it with Timothy.[6]

  [6]  1 Timothy 4:14—elders of the church laid hands on Timothy and conveyed a “gift.”

2Tim. 1:1 Paul, an apostle
        of Jesus Christ by the will of God,
        according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
2Tim. 1:2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace,
        from God the Father                  [Full Deity (one) invisible, inaudible, no man can hear]
        and Christ Jesus our Lord.      [Lord: God working through means]
2Tim. 1:3 I thank God,
        whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience,
        that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
2Tim. 1:4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
2Tim. 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee,
        which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice;
        and I am persuaded that in thee also.

2Tim. 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance
        that thou stir up the gift of God,
        which is in thee
BY the putting on of MY hands.

Notice that this is a person or "people as another center of consciousness" Here are gifts of God.

2Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us
        the spirit OF fear;
        but spirit OF power,
        and spirit OF love,
        and spirit OF a spirit OF
2Tim. 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the TESTIMONY of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner:
        but be thou partaker of the afflictions
        of the gospel according to the power of God;
A. 1Pet. 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time
        the Spirit OF Christ which was in them did signify,
        when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ,
        and the glory that should follow.
B. 2Cor. 3:14 But their minds were blinded: [refusing to hear the Word they turned to musical idolatry]
        for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away
        in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
2Cor. 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
2Cor. 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
2Cor. 3:17 Now the LORD IS that Spirit:
        and where the SPIRIT OF the Lord is, there is liberty.
2Cor. 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord,
        are changed into the same image from glory to glory,
        even as by the SPIRIT OF the Lord
C. Rev. 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him.
        And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant,
        and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus:
        worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit OF prophecy
THE POWER WAS BESTOWED BY THE HANDS OF AN APOSTLE

Paul defines the ekklesia or synagoge both inclusively in several of his letters.  For instance.
1Tim. 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to [public] reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
The Gentiles and Timothy were already wise unto salvation because they had heard Christ define the future REST in great detail
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath
        in every city them that preach him,
        being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
This was the Holy Convocation defined inclusively and exclusively for the Church of Christ in the Wilderness.
The qahal or synagoue could not be called nor performed by the ALARM which was vocal or instrumental rejoicing and which Moses knew to be musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.

Acts 13:26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham,
        and whosoever among you feareth God,
        to you is the word of this salvation sent.
Acts 13:27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers,
        because they knew him not,
        nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day,
        they have fulfilled them in condemning him.
Now, notice the difference between Paul's--a apostle--BY my hands and gift WITH the teaching of the presbytery.

1Tim. 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy,  [Teaching]
        WITH the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
1Tim. 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
1Tim. 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them:
        for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

THIRD PART:

Tim Woodruff: Timothy himself appears to have this ability to pass on gifts to his churches.[7] If we could just ignore these inconvenient passages, however, we could justify a cessationist view of the miraculous spiritual gifts: they stopped when the Apostles were no longer around to pass them on to God’s people.
[7]  1 Timothy 5:22—Paul warns his protégée not to be hasty in laying on hands. Perhaps this refers to ordination of church leaders. But the language is certainly consistent with the impartation of spiritual gifts.
The ekklesia with about the same meaning as the synagogue in the Greek world did not tolerate preacher or musicians: they could read and discuss only material presented by a highter power.  Paul warns against women getting involved because in a heated debate there was a temptation to man handle a speaker. Paul is saying DON'T GET VIOLENT.
1Tim. 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels,
        that thou observe these things without preferring one before another,
        doing nothing by partiality.

1Tim. 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.

THIS IS A WARNING AGAINST GETTING PHYSICAL IN THE EKKLESIA:

After due summons that body shall pass judgment; the vote shall be secret, and if he be condemned, the presiding officers shall certify the result to the collectors.]”
The term The Holy Spirit was dropped as the final writers finished their PART of the WHOLE.  That is because Jesus Christ as the Name of The Holy Spirit promised to lead the APOSTLES (only) into all truth.  When HE had lead them into all truth as The Holy Spirit Of Christ the language shifts sharply to cut off all latter day pretenders and disturbers of the weak in the faith.

PART TWO

SOME SPECIFIC PROOF TEXTS FOR OPERATIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AS A SEPARATE PERSON.

A Textual Tension

Given these “more” factors (our commitment to a rational faith and the perceived lack thereof in others), we were then forced to face a troubling tension at the very foundation of our restoration efforts. The goal of our movement was to “restore” the New Testament church.

I don't think so: I believe the Restoration term is a retrospect: it was John Calvin who began a Restoration Movement of the Church of Christ. Neither he nor anyone wanted to restore Corinth which is used as a pattern for "unity in diversity." The Campbells believed with Calvin that if you REMOVE those rituals such as instruments and exorcism which had been ADDED without any Scriptural authority the church would be just fine. The Campbell's planned to restore:

Church as A School of Christ
Worship as Reading and Musing the Word of God

That is the pattern Christ ordained for the Church in the wilderness and never changed it. That was the pattern for the historic church of Christ until singing as an ACT was imposed with lots of discord in the yer 373. Preaching came about the same time. There was no law of giving or budgets.

We believed the key to pleasing God and changing the world and ushering in the Millennium was to recreate first century Christianity with all its pristine beauty in our own time. We were obsessed with the practices, habits, worship, governance, and teachings of the church we found in the pages of the New Testament.

I don't think so: some of the encyclopedic history writers make a serious mistake: It was the Millerites who decided that Jesus was going to return in about 1843. The Disciples got busy and organized because they had to "save all of the Jews" to enable Jesus to return.  It was Alexander Campbell who explained all of the millenniel views but rejected all of them.  See Restoration Roots

See Alexander Campbell: The Second Coming of Christ

This tension and the questions it raised became especially evident when we turned in our Bibles to the writings of Luke and Paul. We loved these inspired writers, embracing them as our true mentors in the faith. We took their writings as our primary Scriptural authority. Acts and Paul’s epistles became our canon-within-a-canon. Luke and Paul set the foundations and laid the parameters for our understanding of church, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, polity, worship, conduct, and witness.

We depended on their writings to show us the way. The Gospels were good, but sadly lacking in the pragmatics of ecclesiastical conduct. John’s Revelation? Well …. But Acts! Paul’s letters! Now there were ideas you could wrap your Millennial Harbinger around!

These two writers were so eminently rational, so easily replicable. Their depiction of the first century church seemed so elegant to us … so perspicuous. A single pattern. A clear description of acceptable worship. An unambiguous guide to organization and collective action.

Until it came to their teaching about the Holy Spirit! Suddenly, things weren’t simple at all. Anointings of fire. Prophecy. Tongues and wonders. The Spirit pouring out and falling on and filling up. Visions. Healings.

Paul set apart by the Spirit (Ac 13:2),

Acts 9:3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus:
        and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
Acts 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him,
        Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Acts 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said,
        I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him,
        Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me
        to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
Acts 9:16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

Acts 22:21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.

Jesus Christ the Spirit continued to work through instrumental means and in this case to tell Paul the Apostle where to go to fulfill the commission.
Acts 13:1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch
        certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger,
        and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted,
        the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas
        and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
We have noted of all of the apostles, when Jesus Christ THE Spirit speaks to you it is to SEND you out to suffer and die.  This is still Jesus of Nazareth being with Paul to guide him into all truth but not to us:
Acts 13:3 And when they had fasted and prayed,
        and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
Acts 13:4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost,
        departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
Acts 13:5 And when they were at Salamis,
        they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews:
        and they had also John to their minister.

You will notice that Jesus Christ the Spirit is simply using these men to instruct Paul.

prevented by the Spirit (Ac 16:7),

Acts 26:15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
Acts 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose,

        to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen,
         and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

Acts 16:6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia,
        and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,

Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks,
        repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the [Paul's] spirit unto Jerusalem,
        not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
Acts 20:23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city,
        saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
The Holy Spirit testified by a prophet:
Acts 21:10 And as we tarried there many day
there came down from Judaea
a certain prophet, named Agabus.
Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself,
        so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry,
        which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

You will notice that Christ in you is the same as the Spirit of God who raised up Jesus
Therefore, the name of the Spirit OF God is Christ and not another person.
In John 14 having Father and Son IN us is the same as WE being IN the Father and Son.
Therefore, in does not mean INSIDE OF: The Spirit OF Christ dwells in our Spirits BY FAITH.

Rom. 8:11 But if the Spirit

Rom. 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles,

Paul confirms that NO MAN can hear or see or understand anything about God that is not revealed by the Son in a face to face or mouth to mouth revelation.  Paul will write the Corinthians if they need further information: this proves that those who thought that they had a gift were just fooling themselves

1Cor. 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
        neither have entered into the heart of man,
        the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

1Cor. 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto US by his Spirit:
        for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Notice how the Spirit of God and the spirit of man have the same meaning: God'sSpirit is God's Mind and not another person.

1Cor. 2:11

For what man knoweth the things OFa man,
        ave the spirit OFman which is in him?
even so the things OF God knoweth no man,
        but the Spirit OF God.

1Cor. 2:12 Now we have received,
        not the spirit OF the world,
        but the spirit which is OF God;
        that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Cor. 2:13 Which things also we speak,
        not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth,
        but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

1Cor. 2:16 For who hath known the mind
OF the Lord, that he may instruct him?
        But we have the mind

Jesus spoke of PLACES when in John 4 He said that worship was not in the PLACE of the Samaritans or the PLACE of the Jews but in the PLACE of the human spirit deboted to the Spirit OF Truth.  Paul warned that while we assemble to speak that which is written with one mind and one mouth to educate (Romans 15) our worship must be IN THE SPIRIT which is opposite to IN THE SPIRIT:

Phil. 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
Phil. 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
Phil. 3:3 For we are the circumcision,

That is because The Holy Spirit OF Christ is named Jesus Christ.

The Spirit described by Luke and Paul posed a significant challenge to our Lockean faith. He confused our conclusions on baptism (“Is baptism in water or Spirit?”—Ac 1:5; “Wadda ya mean the Spirit fell on them before they were baptized?”—Ac 10:47).

IT IS HUMAN REASON WHICH IS OUTLAWED.

The word SPIRIT means RATIONAL MIND. The Word WORD means "the rational discourse of God." God is rational and He created humans as RATIONAL or REASONABLE or SPIRITUAL.

Reasonableness of Christianity

Reason is what one uses to make changes in the church to make it ABLE to work in our century. Faith is accepting the Word of God for our faith and practice. The changers use REASON to change or innovate by claiming that the OLD does not work anymore.

A Letter Concerning Toleration.

"But since men are so solicitous about the true church, I would only ask them here, by the way, if it be not more agreeable to the Church of Christ
........... to make the conditions of her communion consist in such things, and such things only,
........... as the Holy Spirit has in the Holy Scriptures declared, in express words, to be necessary to salvation;

I ask, I say, whether this be not more agreeable to the Church of Christ

than for men to impose their own inventions and interpretations upon others as if they were of Divine authority,
and to establish by ecclesiastical laws, as absolutely necessary to the profession of Christianity,

such things as the Holy Scriptures do either not mention, or at least not expressly command?

Whosoever requires those things in order to ecclesiastical communion,
which Christ
does not require in order to life eternal,
he may, perhaps, indeed constitute a
society accommodated to his own opinion and his own advantage;

but how that can be called the Church of Christ which is established upon laws that are not His, and which excludes such persons from its communion as He will one day receive into the Kingdom of Heaven, I understand not.

David Hume, 1711-1776
"These two species of false religion, though both pernicious, are yet of a very different, and even of a contrary nature.

The mind of man is subject to certain unaccountable terrors and apprehensions, proceeding either from the unhappy situation of private or public affairs, from ill health, from a gloomy and melancholy disposition, or from the concurrence of all these circumstances.

In such a state of mind, infinite unknown evils are dreaded from unknown agents; and where real objects of terror are wanting, the soul, active to its own prejudice, and fostering its predominant inclination,

finds imaginary ones, to whose power and malevolence it sets no limits.
As these enemies are entirely invisible and unknown,

the methods taken to appease them are equally unaccountable, and consist in ceremonies, observances, mortifications, sacrifices, presents, or in any practice, however absurd or frivolous,

which either folly or knavery recommends to a blind and terrified credulity. Weakness, fear, melancholy, together with ignorance, are, therefore, the true sources of SUPERSTITION.

But the mind of man is also subject to an unaccountable elevation and presumption, arising from prosperous success, from luxuriant health, from strong spirits, or from a bold and confident disposition.

In such a state of mind, the imagination swells with great but confused conceptions, to which no sublunary beauties or enjoyments can correspond. Every thing mortal and perishable vanishes as unworthy of attention.

And a full range is given to the fancy in the invisible regions or world of spirits, where the soul is at liberty to indulge itself in every imagination, which may best suit its present taste and disposition.

Hence arise raptures, transports, and surprising flights of fancy; and confidence and presumption still increasing, these raptures (rapes), being altogether unaccountable, and seeming quite beyond the reach of our ordinary faculties,

are attributed to the immediate inspiration of that Divine Being, who is the object of devotion.

Human reason was not based on the understanding of Scripture. Rather, when people come to believe that they are inspired they use their own feelings induced primarily today by "music" then they are using human reason.

In a little time, the inspired person comes to regard himself as a distinguished favourite of the Divinity; and when this frenzy once takes place, which is the summit of enthusiasm, every whimsy is consecrated:

Human reason, and even morality are rejected as fallacious guides:

And the fanatic madman delivers himself over, blindly, and without reserve, to the supposed illapses of the spirit, and to inspiration from above.

Hope, pride, presumption, a warm imagination, together with ignorance, are, therefore, the true sources of enthusiasm. (See Speaking in Tongues)

Peter had to look back a decade to find something similar to the upper room experience.  This was a deliberate act of God to dare the doubting Jews to forbid Peter to baptize Cornelius. This was one of the FOUR groups to which Jesus sent the Apostles where the SIGNS would validate the Apostles and not save anyone. When the four groups received the certification it did not happen again.

LEARNING TO LIVE WITHOUT SPIRIT

He chose church leaders without congregational consultation or vote (e.g., Ac 13:4).

Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted,
        the Holy Ghost SAID, Separate me Barnabas and Saul
        for the work whereunto I have called them.

We noted above that the Spirit Lord named Jesus of Nazareth caused Paul to HEAR and SEE Him to qualify as a SENT Apostle.  It was Jesus Christ who used these men to SEND OUT Paul as an apostle.  If YOU are separated out by an AUDIBLE voice of Jesus Christ He wants you to go, suffer and die.

He disrupted orderly assemblies (with tongues, prophecies, and other inconvenient interruptions—1Co 14).

There is no evidence that any carnal Corinthian had a single gift: if they needed instructions Paul would write them a letter.  This spirit absolutely silenced singing out of their own spirit or women speaking in the assembly.   The Mad Women of Corinth were notorious and some probably served as oracles for Apollo where they went mad on sniffing gas, wine or music. Their uncovered prophesying (1 Cor 10:5) was outside of the asembly.  The "tongues" were not UNKNOWN but minor dialects which people tended to use in a church where most would understand Koine.  A person should not speak in Thracian dialect unless HE could pray so that HE could interpret.

Eph. 4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
Eph. 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
Eph. 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

That which is PERFECT is that which was supplied IN PARTS by people given supernatural powers.  When they completed their work then cunning craftiness (all of the theatrical, musical arts) could not teach their false doctrine which did not measure up to the revelation.  Paul regulated the speaking and absolutely outlawed women who tended to break out in singing musically.

Aristotle Politics 1341b and all the instruments that require manual skill. And indeed there is a reasonable foundation for the story that was told by the ancients about the flute. The tale goes that Athena found a flute and threw it away. Now it is not a bad point in the story that the goddess did this out of annoyance because of the ugly distortion of her features; but as a matter of fact it is more likely that it was because education in flute-playing has no effect on the intelligence, whereas we attribute science and art to Athena...And since we reject professional education in the instruments and in performance  (and we count performance in competitions as professional,  for the performer does not take part in it  for his own improvement, but for his hearers'  pleasure, and that a vulgar pleasure, owing  to which we do not consider performing to be proper for free men, but somewhat menial; and indeed performers do become vulgar,

The challenged our understandings of the nature of worship. (Does “worship” consist of acts we perform or spiritual and emotional responses to God that only the Spirit can prompt? See Php 3:3 and John 4:24.)

God is Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24

In spirit does not mean 'enthusiastically' or paying attention to the true meaning as one is involved in external worship in specified forms, at specified times and specified places. Philo invented that word: enthus o mania meaning to be mad, insane possessed by the demons.

Basil severely trimmed the earlier "liturgy" and thereby simplifying the collective assembly.

Heredos 7:153 When the founding of Gela by Antiphemus and the Lindians of Rhodes was happening, he would not be left behind. [2] His descendants in time became and continue to be priests of the goddesses of the underworld [Demeter and Persephon]; this office had been won, as I will show, by Telines, one of their forefathers. There were certain Geloans who had been worsted in party strife and had been banished to the town of Mactorium, inland of Gela. [3] These men Telines brought to Gela
        with no force of men but only the holy instruments of the goddesses worship to aid him.
        From where he got these, and whether or not they were his own invention, I cannot say;
however that may be, it was in reliance upon them that he restored the exiles, on the condition that his descendants should be ministering priests of the goddesses.

        [4] Now it makes me marvel that Telines should have achieved such a feat,
        for I have always supposed that such feats cannot be performed by any man
        but only by such as have a stout heart and manly strength.
       Telines, however, is reported by the dwellers in Sicily to have had a
soft and effeminate disposition.

The adaptation of particualr modes, harmonies, or scales to the expression of particular feelings is something that we are obliged to accept on faith. Plato's statements here were challenged by some later critics, but the majority believed that there was a connection between modes of music and modes of feeling, as Ruskin and many others have in our day.

NOT IN THE ASSEMBLY PLEASE: The Spirit OF Christ or the Spirit OF God or Paul's spirit is being discussed.   The "spirit" which groans is the inner man, the rational nature of man.

For ye have not received
        the spirit OF bondage again to fear; but ye have received
        the Spirit OF adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Rom 8:15

The Spirit ITSELF beareth witness with our spirit,
        that we are the children of God: Rom 8:16

MY little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 2:1

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 1 John 2:3

For we know that
        the whole creation groaneth and
        travaileth in pain together until now. Rom 8:22
And not only they, but ourselves also,
        which have the firstfruits of the Spirit,
        even we ourselves groan within ourselves,
                waiting for the adoption,
                to wit, the redemption of our body. Rom 8:23

Isa 26:8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

Isa 26:9 With my SOUL have I desired thee in the night;
        yea, with my SPIRIT within me will I seek thee early:
        for when thy judgments are in the earth,
        the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

Jn 11:33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping,
        and the Jews also weeping which came with her,
        he groaned in the SPIRIT and was troubled,
John 11:34 And said, Where have ye laid him?
        They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
John 11:35 Jesus wept.

There was not another God person inside of Jesus who groaned.

Jn 11:37 And some of them said, Could not this man,
        which opened the eyes of the blind,
        have caused that even this man should not have died?
Jn 11:38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave.
        It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

Therefore, groaning in the SPIRIT is groaning in HIMSELF.

2Cor. 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved,

2Cor. 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan,
        being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon,
        that mortality might be swallowed up of life

Cor. 5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God,
        who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
2Cor. 5:6 Therefore we are always confident,
        knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body,
        we are absent from the Lord:
2Cor. 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by NOT

In fact, the SOLE worship word commanded by Christ for the Church in the wilderness was to Rest, Read and Rehearse the Word of God. That continued from the wilderness up to the time of Christ. He stood up to READ and then SAT DOWN.  The only worship word used by Paul and Peter means to "give heed to the Words of Christ" (Col 3) which is SPIRIT (Ephesians 5)."  The Lord's Supper was a teaching act and the ONLY preaching act commanded.  No one dared to introduce singing as an ACT until after Constantine and the introduction of pagan priests.

Appendix A: "spirit" is always "neuter." No one ever thought that the Mind of Christ which Paul equated to the Holy Spirit OF Godd (1 Corinthians 2) was another person:

Paul Tillich wrote: "The Spirit is sometimes personified in the Bible, as in John 16:7-8, and this has led many to believe that it is a person. They do so because they do not take into account an idiom of the original Greek language. In Greek, inanimate objects which in English would be couched in the neuter gender, are given a masculine or feminine gender, if those objects are identified with any particular individual. ' For example, a chair is described as "it" in English, because it is neuter, being neither masculine nor feminine. But in Greek that chair can be identified with its owner. If it belongs to me, the chair is described as he; if it belongs to my wife, as she. Click Here

Christ as the ROCK ordained the Qahal, synagogue or church in the wilderness for the spiritual people
      It was INCLUSIVE of Rest, Reading and Rehearsing the Word.
            That never changed: the word was preached by being read each rest day.
       It was exclusive of vocal or instrumental rejoicing because as the restorers intended to promote:
               Church is A School of Christ
               Worship is reading and musing the Word..

It was the Spirit OF Christ who spoke through the prophets to define a true rest and to repudiate the sacrificial system.

Spirit is almost always in the Bible connected to a prepositional phrase. The Spirit OF Christ is the Spirit OF

In John 14 Jesus said that the "father" was WITHIN Him and when the apostles had been WITH Jesus they had been WITH the Spirit.  Neither the SON nore the SPIRIT in this view can originate any words.

SPEAKING IN PROVERBS TO FOOL THE SCRIBES AND PHARISEES whom he called hypocrites by pointing to Isaiah and Exekiel to identify speakers, singers and instrument players.

Therefore, the second view of the Godhead in all recorded history--as far as I have found and been challenged--before H. Leo Boles out Tritheism meaning polytheism at FHC in 1938 and first printed in 1942 and became the creed for Lipscomb, the Gospel Advocate and many preachers in the South East.  John Mark Hicks tries to saddle Alexander Campbell with a trinitarianism of three centers of consciousness. However, none of the Restoration scholars were trinitarian: Alexander bad mouthed Calvin for calling God the "persons" but Calvin was convinced to say "three aspects." If you think that the Spirit OF Christ is detached FROM Christ and is another person or people, they you are deeply into polytheism. And THAT is one of the products I will confess being a product of we rednecks.
God which Paul said in 1 Corinthians is the MIND OF Christ.

Jesus as the Christ was Ful Deity made visible Spirit Breath

Son Word
SO JESUS AS THE CHRIST OF GOD EXISTED AS "ANOTHER COMFORTER" OR "HOLY SPIRIT" named Jesus of Nazareth whom you persecute.  The first Nicene Creed did not include The Holy Spirit and Neither does John.

When Jesus promised "another Comforter" He also said I will come to you.  John identified the another comforter:

1John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
        And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the [1] Father, [2] Jesus Christ the righteous:

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NO LONGER LISTED TO BE CONFUSED AS A "PERSON" OR "PEOPLE" IN THE LU SENSE.
1John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
Which is the same as: Which is the same as:
He is antichrist, that denieth the
      Father
      and
      the Son.
he that hath seen me hath seen the Father;

and HOW sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
1 John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son

he that acknowledgeth the Son
the same hath not the Father:

hath the Father also
John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
2John 2 For the truth’s sake,  [spirit OF truth]
            which dwelleth in us,
            and shall be with us for ever.
2John 3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace,
        from          God the Father, and
        from the    Lord Jesus Christ,
        the             Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Overused but still the fact:

2John 9 Whosoever transgresseth,
        and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.
        He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ,
        he hath both the Father and the Son.

The trinity creeds do not include SPIRIT because Spirit is the Breath that passes between Father (though) and Son (Word).

        for the

        These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand,
        who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
Rev. 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;

Rev. 3:6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
The seven spirits which would rest on Messiah as the Branch (of the Menorah) were:

Is. 11:1 There shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse,
        and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit.
Is. 11:2 The Spirit of Yahweh shall rest on him,
        the spirit of wisdom
        and understanding,
        the spirit of counsel
        and might,
        the spirit of knowledge
        and of the fear of Yahweh.
Is. 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD:
        and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes,
        neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
Is. 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor,
        and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth:
        and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth,
        and with the breath [spirit] of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
Rev. 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write;
        These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David,
        he that openeth, and no man shutteth;
        and shutteth, and no man openeth;
Rev. 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan,
        which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie;
        behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet,
        and to know that I have loved thee.
Rev. 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience,
        I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation,
        which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Rev. 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Rev. 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,
        and he shall go no more out:
        and I will write upon him the name of my God,
        and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem,
        which cometh down out of heaven from my God:
        and I will write upon him my new name.
Rev. 3:13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;

Rev. 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write;
        These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Rev. 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints:
        here are they that keep the commandments of God,
        and the faith of Jesus.
Rev. 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me,
        Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth:
        Yea, saith the Spirit,
        that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Rev. 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.
        I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
Rev. 22:17 And the
Spirit and the bride say, Come.
        And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come.
        And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

It is reasonable to assume, based on other clear warnings, that this was intended to be the summary of the whole prophetic message delivered by Christ the Spirit.

Rev. 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,
        If any man shall add unto these things,
        God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

If the Spirit person still lets people "read beyond the sacred page" why would just the Book of Revelation be SEALED up?
