EPIThETS IN THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY

A preacher's life should be a commentary upon his
doctrine; his practice should be the counterpart of his
sermons. Heavenly doctrines should always be adorned
with a heavenly life.
An ignorant, profane, and soul-flattering clergy, are
the greatest pest, plague, affliction and judgment, which
can befall a people! There is no rank nor order of men on
earth, who have so enriched hell, who have been such
benefactors to hell--as the ignorant and profane clergy!
How many are there in these days, who are more ready
and willing to make a sacrifice of the gospel--
for profit sake,
and preferment sake,
and honor sake,
and lust's sake!
Where there is no serious, sincere, faithful, and powerful
preaching--there the people grow abominably wicked, and
will certainly perish, and go tumbling to hell.
Pastors! Either preach as the ministers of Jesus
Christ ought to preach--
plainly,
spiritually,
powerfully,
feelingly,
fervently,
frequently;
and live as the ministers of Jesus Christ ought to live--
heavenly,
graciously,
holily,
humbly,
righteously,
harmlessly,
exemplary
--or else lay down your names of being the ministers of
Jesus Christ. Do not any longer a cheat upon yourselves,
nor upon the people--by making them believe that you
are ministers of Jesus Christ, when you have
nothing of the spirit of Christ,
nor of the anointings of Christ,
nor of the grace of Christ,
nor of the life of Christ in you.

A SURPRISING instance of this, we have in Mr. Tennent, notwithstanding his character by Mr. Whitefield, as a mighty charitable man. [Mr Whitefield, of course, had shown the American preachers how an actor can manipulate a crowd, and teaching had given way to theatrical performance. They truly believed that they could empower God's Word by theatrics.]

Perhaps there cannot be produced, out of any author, a greater number of more slanderous names than he has freely bestowed upon the body of the clergy of this generation. I shall here present the reader with a list of them, as they have been collected out of his sermon at Nottingham, and published by the Synod at Philadelphia. They are therein represented as
hirelings;
caterpillars;
letter-learned-Pharisees;
men that have the craft of foxes,
and the cruelty of wolves;
plastered hypocrites;
varlets;
the seed of the serpent;
foolish builders,
whom the devil drives into the ministry;
dry nurses;
dead dogs that cannot bark;
blind men;
dead men;
men possessed with the devil;
rebels and enemies to God;
guides that are stone-blind, and
stone-dead;
children of Satan,
that, like their father, may do good to men's souls by chance-medley;
daubers with untempered mortar;
moral negroes;
Salt without savor;
that stink in the nostrils of God and man;
Judases,
whose chief desire is to finger the penny, and to carry the bag;
murderous hypocrites,
that are to take care less they feel the force of a halter in this world,
or an aggravated damnation in the next;
subtle selfish hypocrites,
that would not let one honest man come into the ministry if they could help it;
swarms of locusts ;
crowds of Pharisees,
that have as coveteously, as cruelly, crept into the ministry,
in this adulterous generation,
who as nearly resemble the character given of the old Pharisees,
as one crow's egg does another,
whose hearers are as blind as moles, and
dead as stones;
successors of Nicodemus;
blind leaders of the blind;
formalists;
dead drones;
sons of Sceva, with a fine long string of prayers;
false apostles;
deceitful workers,
ministers of Satan, etc.
Here is what a Minister of Deceit and of Satan who is "the father of musical instruments, harmony, thieves and liars Is fulfilling:
Not even they could have envisioned a preacher touring and training churches how to raise their hands, clap their hands and dance around as they worship little brother and sister singers flaunting the sexual authority Paul outlawed. They keep on spreading their spiritual clapp even as the widows run crying from the property they sacrificed to purchase. Truly, these are evil, prophesied end-time dens of vipers. [The serpent in the garden of Eden was a musician! His gender-variant side was ZOE]
Remember that Jesus fired the "doctors of the Law" once because they "took away the key to knowledge. They rise from under the earth as the locust hoard. Not to worry! Their task is to sort out those with the Mark of Christ (the Word) from those with the mark of the beast (Zoe or Music).
Prophetically, those MARKED with the Word are suddenly being taken from the churches and the hand-clapping girls don't know that they have been left still being the harem of the gods.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Matt 24:41
And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low; Eccl 12:4
Tachan (h2912) taw-khan'; a prim. root; to grind meal; hence to be a concubine (that being their employment): - grinder.
Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners (clapping on their bodies) go about the streets: Eccl 12:5
Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers. Is.47:2
Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man. Isa 47:3
Soon, the grinders standing in the holy place along with the musicians will return to the underworld.
And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; Rev 18:22
As for our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel. Isa 47:4
Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms. Isa 47:5
I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy;
upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke. Isa 47:6
Because the Israelites engaged in musical idolatry at Mount Sinai, they were abandoned by God to "worship the starry host." Chaldean is equivalent to an astrologer or star worshiper. In Isaiah 47:12 they were practicing sorcery or witchcraft. And
Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts. Na. 3:4
Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame. Nah 3:5
And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock. Nah 3:6
Vile is from the nebel:
Nebel (h5035) neh'-bel; or neÇbel nay'-bel; from 5034; a skin- bag for liquids (from collapsing when empty); hence a vase (as similar in shape when full); also a lyre (as having a body of like form): - bottle, pitcher, psaltery, vessel, viol.
Identical to the familiar spirit of the witch of Endor and the sounding brass of 1 Cor. 13.
God answered their prayer and drove them into captivity and death by music: that which they losted after:
Chalal (h2490) khaw-lal'; a to wound, to dissolve; fig. to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one's word) denom. (from 2485) to play the flute: - begin (* men began), defile, take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound.
God afflicted them with their old Egyptian Sexual-Musical Idolatry: you are there and you are she.
"During the erotic dance ritual, the priestess would actually become the Goddess in all Her glory. According to the ancient texts, during the erotic dance ritual the priestesses would achieve visionary orgasm in which great truths were revealed.
"Het Heret was the over-arching sky cow Goddess, associated with fertility and bounty and plenty. Married couples would go to the temples of Het Heret for fertility rites that would hopefully lead to a successful pregnancy. The temples were filled with sweet smelling incense.
That happened with Miriam and the women who came out with her.
The priestesses of Het Heret would dance to the rhythms of live drumming.
When the couples were sufficiently aroused, they would engage in sexual intercourse on comfortable pillows.

If you always wanted to see what it meant when God would pour out the wine of his wrath, just look in the mirror.
"Women and girls from the different ranks of society were proud to enter the service of the gods as singers and musicians. The understanding of this service was universal: these singers constituted the 'harem of the gods'." (Johannes Quasten. In Music and Worship in Pagan and Christian Antiquity, beginning on page 41)
All of this happened because churches violated Christ's will as He fired the doctors of the law and of Paul who gave the support only to the evangelist.
Captain Edward Johnson, in about 1631, wrote on what became Harvard University. The learned, reverend, and judicious Mr. Henry Dunster had received a patron for establishing a college. And he notes:
"And as in all the other passages of this history the Wonder-working Providence of Sion's Saviour hath appeared, so especially in this work,
the Fountains of learning being in a great measure stopped in our native Country at this time,
so that the sweet waters of Shilo's streams must ordinarily pass into the Churches through the stinking channel of prelatical pride,
beside all the filth that the fountains themselves were daily encumbered withal,
insomuch that the Lord turned aside often from them, and refused the breathing of his blessed Spirit among them, (Matthew 13)
which caused Satan (in these latter days of his transformation into an Angel of light)
to make it a means to persuade people from the use of learning altogether,
that so in the next generation they might be destitute of such helps as the Lord hath been pleased hitherto to make use of,
as chief means for the conversion of his people and building them up in the most holy faith,
as also for breaking down the Kingdom of Antichrist."
The dens of vipers worship with Andy Griffith and the little children learn from The Lion King. Churches are stolen and turned from synagogues of the Word into "holy entertainment." Your stay as locusts on the earth is short: enjoy the trip back to hell.
This was momentarily corrected in the American Restoration Movement. A fundamental apostasy needed correction was restoring "worship" to a synagogue model where worship to be "in spirit and in truth" depended heavily upon reading and meditating on and studying the once-revealed Word of God. There is no use of the "music" word or concept in the spiritual worship of God in the entire Bible. When you pervert Paul's direct command and put the "sing" in the voice and "teach" is not the Word of Christ but of Twila Paris then you (yes, you) have paved the way and been the enabler for the infantile girl-boys who are breaking up churches worse than a gang in a ghetto.
No, church was not pagan worship center with cut N paste sermonizing and versifying: church was synagogue or school of the Bible. Worship is in my spirit devoted to the truth and you can have nothing to do with that.
Assuredly the muddied streams are flowing out of our Bible Colleges turned secular universities in the interest of personal pride.
Like all of the rest of humanity, only a tiny minority of preachers are honest and therefore we weep for the honest ones like we weep for the honest elder who increasingly is "as apt to chase a coon as apt to teach the Bible."
