Jesus said that worship is in THE NEW PLACE of the human SPIRIT which is the human MIND. Worship happens IN TRUTH according to Paul when we Teach that which has been taught or give heed to the inspired Word.

MESOPOTAMIAN CULT

In the cultic practices, humans fulfilled their destiny: to take care of the gods' material needs. They therefore provided the gods with houses (the temples) that were richly supplied with lands, which people cultivated for them. In the temple the god was present in--but not bounded by--a statue made of precious wood overlaid with gold. For this statue the temple kitchen staff prepared daily meals from produce grown or raised on the temple's fields, in its orchards, in its sheepfolds, cattle pens, and game preserves, brought in by its fishermen, or delivered by farmers owing it as a temple tax. The statue was also clad in costly raiment, bathed, and escorted to bed in the bedchamber of the god, often on top of the temple tower, or ziggurat.

To see to all of this the god had priests trained as cooks, bakers, waiters, and bathers, or as encomiasts (singers of praise) and musicians

to make the god's meals festive, or as elegists to soothe him in times of stress and grief. Diversions from the daily routine were the great monthly festivals and also a number of special occasions.

In a footnote on the first page of Book I the editor notes that-- p,

The words insanir, m bacchari, refer to the appearance of the ancient seers when under the influence of the deity. The meaning is, that they make their asserverations with all the confidence of a seer when filled, as he pretended, with the influence of the god." (Arnibious, Ante-Nicene, VI, p. 413)

He notes that it is childish that the gods of the pagans were not interested in heavenly things but with the courser things of earth. However, he is aware that the professional religionists devised the myths and fables to fool fools. They felt this need because "we need to do something about the falling attendance."

"Nay, rather, to speak out more truly, the augurs, the dream interpreters, the soothsayers, the prophets, and the priestlings, ever vain, have devised these fables;

for they, fearing that their own arts be brought to nought,
and that they may
extort but scanty contributions from the devotees, now few and infrequent,

whenever they have found you to be willing that their craft should come into disrepute, cry aloud, the Gods are neglected,
........... and in the temples there is now a very thin attendance.

For ceremonies are exposed to derision,
........... and the time-honoured rites of institutions once sacred
.......... have sunk before the superstitions of new religions.

And men--a senseless race--being unable, from their inborn blindness, to see even that which is placed in open light,

dare to assert in their frenzy what you in your sane mind do not blush to believes." (Arnobius, Against the Heathen, Ante-Nicene Fathers, VI, p. 418).

ALL forms of a legal LADED BURDEN meaning "anxiety created by religious ritual INTENDS to "bring you into the presence of the gods" (the job Jesus died to perform). That creates mortal fear even if you are singy-clappy-happy.

Of the Bacchus worship which the Jews tried to force upon Jesus as a "mark" to identify Him as their hoped-for god of wine and war, and those alluded to by Paul to the Ephesians (Chapter 5) when he demanded the sober use of the Word of God as the preaching material while the "singing and melody" remain in the heart, Livy wrote of a continual warfare to put down this "marking" religion even in his day. This describes Paul's description of what happened at Mount Sinai when they ROSE UP in musical PLAY as LEGALISM (Rom 1).

"The making of inquisition concerning clandestine meetings was decreed to both the consuls. A Greek of mean condition came, first, into Etruria,

not with one of the many trades which his nation, of all others the most skillful in the cultivation of the mind and body, has introduced among us,

but a low operator in sacrifices, and a soothsayer;
nor was he one who, by open religious rites,
and by publicly professing his calling and teaching,
imbued
the minds of his followers with terror,
but a priest of
secret and nocturnal rites.

These mysterious rites were, at first, imparted to a few,
but afterwards communicated to great numbers, both men and women.

To their religious performances were added the pleasures of wine and feasting, .
to allure a greater number of proselytes.

When wine, lascivious discourse, night, and the intercourse of the sexes had extinguished every sentiment of modesty, then debaucheries of every kind began to be practiced, as every person found at hand that sort of enjoyment to which he was disposed by the passion predominant in his nature.

Nor were they confined to one species of vice---the promiscuous intercourse of free-born men and women;
but from this store-house of villainy proceeded false witnesses,
........... counterfeit seals (marks), false evidences, and pretended discoveries.

From the same place, too, proceeded poison and secret murders, so that in some cases, not even the bodies could be found for burial. (Ac 19:19; Rev 9:21; 18:23; Rev 21:8. Rev 18 connects this to the musicians of the end-time Babylonian Whore religion)

Many of their audacious deeds were brought about by treachery, but most of them by force;
it served to conceal the violence, that, on account of the
loud shouting, and the noise of drums and cymbals,
none of the cries uttered by the persons suffering violence or murder could be heard abroad.

Music is still used to silence the voice of those suffering violence by the introduction of neo-Bacchus or Dionysus "wineskin" worship. See the attempt to "Mark" Jesus with the Seal of Dionysus to "triumph over" Him with Music.

Jesus compared the clergy to CHILDREN who PLAYED in the marketplace or Agora which was a competitive gathering place as well as market. They hoped to get Jesus to LAMENT which was the CRIES OF PAIN they intended to inflict upon Him. This, to them, would prove that He was DIONYSUS who was the anticipated MESSIAH of the mostly Non-Israelites in Jerusalem.

See Christianity Today to grasp that music is driving the most sectarian and sectarianizing period in the history of the church. Based on clear hints from the Bible and all ancient understandings, this is quite identical to the first major effort to drag the Holy Sethites down into the dark valley of the Cainites using mixed-sex choirs, instrumental music, wine and perverted agents of Satan.

Of Ceremonial objects: On occasion, objects have been used to compel the sacred (or divine) realm to act or react in a way that is favourable to the participants of the ceremonies or to the persons or activities with which such rituals are concerned,

or to prevent the transcendent realm from harming or endangering them.
These objects thus can be
mediatory devices to contact the divine world,
as, for example, the
drums of shamans (religious personages with healing and psychic-transformation powers).

Conversely, they can be mediatory devices used by a god or other supernatural being to relate to man in the profane realm.

They may also be used to ensure that a chief or sovereign of a tribe or nation achieves,
and is
recognized to have, the status of divinity in cultic or community ceremonies.
Of such a nature may be
phallic cults.

Enchanters, n. are musical praise leaders

1. Charmer, magician, sorcerer, necromancer.

"May it not happen, may it not come to pass, although you craftily conceal it, that the one should take the other's place, deluding, mocking, deceiving, and presenting the appearance of the deity invoked."

"If the magi, who are so much akin to soothsayers, relate, in their incantations,

pretended gods steal in frequently instead of those invoked; that some of these, moreover, are spirits of grosser substance,

who pretend that they are gods, and delude the ignorant by their lies and deceit." (Arnobius Against the Heathen, Ante-Nicene, VI, p. 479).

If you believe in a Holy Spirit (Jesus Christ is His Name) then you have to believe in unholy spirits. And if you believe in the Bible and Jesus you have to believe that Satan has his agents who "go astray from the womb" in order to deceive mankind.

Jude quoted Enoch who identified this race of evil people by a strong effort at mixed-sex choirs, wine, instrumental music and abortion.

Therefore, John warned of musical praise leaders:

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,
........... because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Matt 25:41

2. Charmer, the one who delights, captivates, or fascinates.

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, Rev 20:2

The serpent in Greek"

Ophis (g3789) of'-is; prob. from 3700 (through the idea of sharpness of vision); a snake, fig. (as a type of sly cunning) an artful malicious person, espec. Satan: - serpent.

Optanomai (g3700) op-tan'-om'ahee;... used for it in certain tenses; and both as alt. of 3708 (to experience); to gaze (i.e. with wide-open eyes, as at something remarkable...

He is neither a snake nor does he have literal horns. Rather, he is the false prophet, the "tallest tree in Eden" or the enchanter able to take your mind off Jesus and His Word:

Chabar (h2266) khaw-bar'; a prim. root; to join (lit. or fig.); spec. (by means of spells) to fascinate: - charm (-er), be compact, couple (together), have fellowship with, heap up, join (self, together), league.

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. Psa 58:3

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear; Psa 58:4

Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely. Ps.58:5

The Nagash or serpent in the Garden of Eden was an upright being. He is symbolized by the Assyrians as the "tallest tree in Eden" by Ezekiel 31. Therefore, the serpent is a facinating person whose bite is the sting of death.

As a serpent he is singularly attached to his own tail or in this drawing to the tail of one of his non-flying band of merry vipers.

BabSerpTail.jp

The serpent in the garden is connected to the brass "bell metal" which was sold as having the power to bring you into the presence of the Gods. This is also related to human deceivers as musical enchanters.

See that all musical worship connects to the serpent or musical enchanter in the garden of Eden: The Devil is always identified as the source of religious music.  See also the NAGA background to Genesis.

"Thou has been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold; the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day thou wast created" (Ezek. 28:13 KJV)

"Naga (Sanskrit) Serpent; the symbol of immortality and wisdom, of renewed births, of secret knowledge and, when the tail is held in the mouth, of eternity. The nagas or serpents of wisdom are, therefore, full initiates: "the first Nagas -- beings wiser than Serpents -- are the 'Sons of Will and Yoga,' born before the complete separation of the sexes.

"These first nagas were the original human adepts, who were later symbolized by the terms serpents and dragons. "These 'originals' -- called to this day in China 'the Dragons of Wisdom' -- were the first disciples of the Dhyanis, who were their instructors. [Assyrians were trees in Eden, Ezek 31]

Ouroboroschild.gif

In the Gnostic world, this is Eve or Sophia or Zoe, the female instructing principle and called the "beast." Her dominated male "gods" were musical praise leaders.

Enchantment, n. http://www.skyboom.com/hollowearthpuranas/index11.html

1. Enchanting, overpowering by magic or spells or incantations or sorcery, putting under a spell, incantation, fascination, charming.

"Magic is a species of crude science, for the underlying hypothesis is that there are forces in the world which can be utilized on certain conditionbs, incantations, magical acts, drugs, etc." (Int. Std. Bible Ency., Magic, p. 1963).

Because Stephen said that God turned Israel over to worship the starry host even at Mount Sinai--where they rose up to play in musical idolatry--and God warned that the kings would destroy the nation and lead them into captivity we should not hesitate to understand their view of music and magic as quite identical to the "nations" they wanted to imitate:

"...an immediate relation is seen by some Biblical scholars between music and magic. It cannot be denied that this relationship is assumed in the myths and legends of the religious systems surrounding Judaism. Nor can it be denied that music and magic are linked in religious systems of primitave cultures everywhere. Furthermore,...

the influence of the Greek Philosophical system still has overtones in much of today's thinking regarding musical values.

In one way or another the Church, especially the Roman Catholic and in less systematic ways, much of Protestantism,

has adopted this philosophy... which... seems to suggest that music has somewhat intrinsic powers to change behavior" (Zondervan Pict., Music P. 312).

Jesus recognized that many of the Jewish clergy were a "den of vipers" and children of their fathers. In the ancient stories they are the children of the fallen angels whom Satan used to "charm" the Sethites with mixed-sex choirs, wine and instrumental music.

The Psalmist agrees that there is such a class of beings:

No, in your heart you devise injustice, and your hands mete out violence on the earth. Psa 58:2

Even from birth the wicked go astray (adulterers, profane); from the womb they are wayward and speak lies. Psa 58:3
Their
venom is like the venom of a snake, like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears Psa 58:4

(Venom in the second instance is the plural of Chauwah, life-giver or Eve, the first woman. She is ZOE, the female instructing principle.)

Chauwowth yaiyr (h2334) khav-vothe' yaw-eer'; from the plur. of 2332 and a modification of 3265; hamlets of Jair, a region of Pal.: - [Bashan-] Havoth-jair.

Chauwah (h2332) khav-vaw'; causat. from 2331; life-giver; Chavvah (or Eve), the first woman: - Eve.

HEAR this word, ye kine (cows) of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink. Amos 4:1

The Lord God hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks. Amos 4:2

And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the Lord. Amos 4:3

Come to Beth-el, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years: Amos 4:4

And when the "cows of Bashan' forced the male leadership into taking the resources of the workers and inventing daily "religious festivals" with wine, women and music, they told God that they didn't care what His Word said. As a result, when the people became Word-starved they would be forced to adopt the practices of the "seekers." See how Sophia-Zoe repeat this pattern.

Therefore this is what the LORD says: "'Your wife will become a prostitute in the city, and your sons and daughters will fall by the sword. Your land will be measured and divided up (Jubilee function), and you yourself will die in a pagan country. And Israel will certainly go into exile, away from their native land.'" Am.7:17

Chauwah (h2333) khav-vaw'; prop. the same as 2332 (life-giving, i. e. living-place); by impl. an encampment or village: - (small) town.

Chauwah (h2332) khav-vaw'; causat. from 2331; life-giver; Chavvah (or Eve), the first woman: - Eve.

Chayah (h2421) khaw-yaw'; a prim. root [comp. 2331, 2421]; to live, whether lit. or fig.; causat. to revive: - keep (leave, make) alive, * certainly, give (promise) life, (let, suffer to) live, nourish up, preserve (alive), quicken, recover, repair, restore (to life), revive, (* God) save (alive, life, lives), * surely, be whole.

As LIFE, Eve is Zoe in Gnosticism which was widespread.

Data collected by the Theosophical Society:

Vach is also called Savitri (the generatrix), the mother of the gods and of all living. She is identical in the human range with Eve, who is also called the mother of all living. Ila or Ida is but the second repetition of Vach in a different period of cosmogony. Vach refers to the cosmic and divine theogony, while Ila refers to a later period in the earth's history when the physiological transformation of the sexes took place during the third root-race. In this last sense Vach corresponds with Eve.

Vach is often called Sandhya (twilight), also Satarupa (a hundred forms) to describe the feminine logos unfolded into the ten planes and subplanes of the universe. The cow is a symbol of Vach, for the cow has always been the emblem of the passive generative power of nature.

Vach vac (Sanskrit) Sound, voice, word, the mystic sound (svara) or essence of spirit of the divine creative activity, the vehicle of divine thought; and of this the Word is the manifested expression. Vach, or its equivalents in other cultures, is always considered feminine.

Cosmically she is the carrier or mother of the Third Logos -- the Word or Verbum -- because of carrying perpetually within her the essence of divine thought, the First Logos;

and hence Vach is the Second Logos, equivalent to the early Christian Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost -- later transmogrified into a cosmic male. In Hindu mythology Brahma separates his body into masculine and feminine, the feminine becoming Vach, in whom he creates Viraj, who is himself again Brahma. Here we have the three Logoi:

Brahma, the First Logos, the divine thought;
Vach, the Second Logos, the divine voice; and
Viraj, the Third Logos, or the divine word, the philosophical equivalent of the Son of the Christian Trinity

Mystically Vach is masculine and feminine at will, as in the Hebrew Genesis Eve is with Adam. It is through her power that Brahma produced the universe. Blavatsky points out that Brahma produced through Vach in the same way that the incomprehensible assumes a tangible form through speech, words, and numbers (cf SD 1:430).

Vach through her productive powers produced what Pythagoras called the music of the spheres.

The teachings of Pythagoras also speak of the hierarchies of the heavenly host as numbered and expressed in numbers. Vach is equivalent, in some aspects, to Isis, Aditi, mulaprakriti, the waters of space, chaos, and the Qabbalistic Sephirah.

"Whether as Aditi, or the divine Sophia of the Greek Gnostics, she is the mother of the seven sons: the 'Angels of the Face,' of the 'Deep,' or the 'Great Green One' of the 'Book of the Dead' " (SD 1:434). These feminine logoi are all correlations of light, sound, and ether. In many aspects Vach approaches Kwan-yin, she of the melodious voice.

Sarasvati, the goddess of divine wisdom, is a later form of Vach. The Hebrew Lahgash is nearly identical in meaning with Vach as the hidden power of the mantras, the divine sound. "But Vach being also spoken of as the daughter of Daksha -- 'the god who lives in all the Kalpas' -- her Mayavic character is thereby shown: during the pralaya she disappears, absorbed in the one, all-devouring Ray" (SD 1:430-1).

Eve used the female instructing principle or sexual authority after she had been seduced by "the tallest tree in Eden." Paul's language needs no interpretation and explains what he meant by restricting women in preside over or non-sedentary roles in the mixed assembly where "authority" was "sexual authority."

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 2 Cor 11:2

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled (seduced wholly) Eve through his subtilty (sophistry), so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 2 Cor. 11:3

The serpent is not a snake:

Ophis (g3789) of'-is; prob. from 3700 (through the idea of sharpness of vision); a snake, fig. (as a type of sly cunning) an artful malicious person, espec. Satan: - serpent.

And, again looking at Psalm 58:

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. Psa 58:3

Their poison is like the poison (h2534) of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear; Psa 58:4

That will not heed the tune of the charmer (Lachash), however skillful the enchanter may be. Psa 58:5

"The serpent-charmers usual instrument is the flute. Those who professed the art of taming serpents were called by the Hebrews menachashim, while the art itself was called lachash , (Jer 8:17; Ecc 10:11)" Smith's Dictionary, Serpent.

Lachash (h3908) lakh'-ash; from 3907; prop. a whisper, i. e. by impl. (in a good sense) a private prayer, (in a bad one) an incantation; concr. an amulet: - charmed, earring, enchantment, orator, prayer.

The eloquent orator is such an enchanter: his pay proves it.

The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator. Is.3:3

And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. Isa 3:4
For, behold, I will send
serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the Lord. Je .8:17

Lachash (h3907) law-khash'; a prim. root; to whisper; by impl. to mumble a spell (as a magician): - charmer, whisper (together).

All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. Ps.41:7

Lashown (h3956) law-shone'; or lashon law-shone'; also (in plur.) fem. lÿshonah lesh-o-naw'; from 3960; the tongue (of man or anmals), used lit. (as the instrument of licking, eating, of speech), and fig. (speech, an ingot, a fork of flame, a cove or water): - / babbler, bay, / evil speaker, language, talker, tongue, wedge

"The necromancer or soothsayer gained their power through magical incantations. The sound of brass, pipe or string imitated the music of the seven heavenly spheres. As a result,

the gods were forced to give material and sensual blessings." Enuma Elish III.101; IV. 1-26, 91 and other Near Eastern Manuscripts.

The chaber has the sexual joining power:

Chabar (h2266) khaw-bar'; a prim. root; to join (lit. or fig.); spec. (by means of spells) to fascinate: - charm (-er), be compact, couple together, have fellowship with, heap up, join self, together, league.

The serpent which was "used" by Satan is the Hebrew word:

Nachash (h5175) naw-khawsh'; from 5172; a snake (from its hiss): - serpent.

The "serpent" who spoke to Eve used human language and was once upright or spiritual. The serpent is defined by the hissing or incantation of the soothsayer or enchanter.

Nachash (h5173) nakh'-ash; from 5172; an incantation or augury: - enchantment.

"ENCHANTER - a male psychic who specializes in the skill of influencing people for good or evil by creating a thought atmosphere around his subject by a technique using songs, chants or rhythmic sounds. [cf. ENCHANT, THOUGHT ATMOSPHERE].

Nachash (h5172) naw-khash'; a prim. root; prop. to hiss, i. e. whisper a (magic) spell; gen. to prognosticate: - * certainly, divine, enchanter, (use) * enchantment, learn by experience, * indeed, diligently observe.

And the "serpent" was never a snake but an enchanter or musician who made hissing-like sounds. This was the sounds of brass seen as proof that the "gods" lived inside of instruments.

Nachuwsh (h5153) naw-khoosh'; appar. pass. part. of 5172 (perh. in the sense of ringing, i. e. bell-metal; or from the red color of the throat of a serpent [5175, as denom.] when hissing); coppery, i. e. (fig.) hard: - of brass.

Nechiylah (h5155) nekh-ee-law'; prob. denom. from 2485; a flute: - [plur.] Nehiloth.

Chaliyl (h2485) khaw-leel'; from 2490; a flute (as perforated): - pipe.

We will look at two instances of the use of the pipe and the serpent connection of silencing the voice of God:

And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands. Isa 5:12

Of the king/queen of Tyre an incarnation of Lucifer:

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets (brass clanging) and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Ezekiel 28:13

And the seduction of the bisexual Lucifer is certain:

All your pomp has been brought down to the grave, along with the noise of your harps; maggots are spread out beneath you and worms cover you. Is.14:11

How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! Isaiah 14:12

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. Luke 10:16

And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. Luke 10:17

And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Luke 10:18

Astrape (g796) as-trap-ay'; from 797; lightning; by anal. glare: - lightning, bright shining.

Astrapto (h797) as-trap'-to; prob. from 792; to flash as lightning: - lighten, shine.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents (artful malicious person) and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19

A Scorpion is:

Skorpios (g4651) skor-pee'-os; prob. from an obsol. skerpo, (perh. strengthened from the base of 4649 and mean. to PIERCE); a "scorpion" (from its sting): - scorpion

Chaliyl (h2485) khaw-leel'; from 2490; a flute (as PERFORATED): - pipe.

2490 is to make self vile, to STEAL one's inheritance, to play the FLUTE, to pollute or PROSTITUTE.

Skorpizo (g4650) skor-pid'-zo; appar. from the same as 4651 (through the idea of penetrating); to dissipate, i.e. (fig.) put to flight, waste, be LIBERAL: - disperse abroad, scatter (abroad).

And there came out of the smoke (Adulterate, a huckster) locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power (power of the public), as the scorpions of the earth have power. Rev 9:3

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. 2Co.2:17

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: Isaiah 14:13

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:14

At that time Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, the span of a king's life. But at the end of these seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute: Is.23:15

Take up a harp, walk through the city, O prostitute forgotten; play the harp well, sing many a song, so that you will be remembered." Is.23:16

At the end of seventy years, the LORD will deal with Tyre. She will return to her hire as a prostitute and will ply her trade with all the kingdoms on the face of the earth. Is.23:17

2. Incantation, conjuration, necromancy, magic, sorcery, witchery, spell, charm.

Necromancy is like that of the Witch of Endor whose familiar was an old wineskin based on its hollow, empty, echoing power. She could tell your fortune or call up a dead being or god.

The state festivals, funerals, the theater and the temple, therefore, used many of the same rituals and--

"They resemble each other also in their pomp, having the same processional to the scene of their display from temples and altars, and that mournful profusion of incense and blood,

with music of pipes and trumpets,
all under the direction of the
soothsayer and the undertaker,

those two foul masters of funeral rites and sacrifices." (Tertullian, de Spectaculis, Ante-Nicene, III, p. 84).

Nimrod's Babylonian musical praise leaders

Mesopotamian Religion: The Musical Praise Leaders:

Encomiast Britannica

"Mesopotamian literature originated with the Sumerians, whose earliest known written records are from the middle of the 4th millennium BC. It constitutes the oldest known literature in the world; moreover, inner criteria indicate that a long oral-literary tradition preceded, and probably coexisted with, the setting down of its songs and stories in writing.

It may be assumed, further, that this oral literature developed the genres of the core literature. The handbook genres, however, in spite of occasional inclusions of oral formula--e.g., legal or medical--may generally be assumed to have been devised after writing had been invented, as a response to the remarkable possibilities that writing offered for amassing and organizing data.

The purpose underlying the core literature and its oral prototypes would seem to have been as much magical as aesthetic, or merely entertaining, in origin.

In magic, words create and call into being what they state.

The more vivid and expressive the words are, the more they are believed to be efficacious--so by its expressiveness literature forms a natural vehicle of such creativity.

The clergy musical worship leader or Precentor has been defined as "the first heresy largely pervading the church." He or she has to be highly educated in theater and music because the more professional the "musical praise minister" the more powerful the worship ritual becomes.

Not surprising this is the product of Baby Boomers (Infantile Drummers).

"In ancient Mesopotamia its main purpose appears to have been the enhancement of what was seen as beneficial.

With the sole exception of wisdom literature,
the
core genres are panegyric in nature (i.e.,

they praise something or someone),
and the magical power and use of praise
is to instill, call up, or activate the virtues presented in the praise.

"That praise is of the essence of hymns, for instance, is shown by the fact that over and over again the encomiast, the official praiser, (See Kantor, Precenter, Worship Leader) whose task it was to sing these hymns,

closed with the standing phrase: "O [the name of a deity or human hero], thy praise is sweet." The same phrase is common also at the end of myths and epics, two further praise genres that also belonged in the repertoire of the encomiast.

"The vb. Battologeo in Mt 6:7 (say not the same thing over and over again) refers to the superstition that the repeated utterance of a word will secure one's wish." (Int. Std. Bible Ency., Magic, p. 1964).

"They praise not only in description but also in narrative,
........... by recounting acts of valour done by the hero,
........... ........... thus sustaining and enhancing his power to do such deeds,
........... ........... according to the magical view.

That means, in all pagan musical worship, the goal of the worshipers was to enable or at times to threaten the gods into being appeased or to force them to give gifts to men. The singing, dancing, "praising" or clapping was, according to the Hebrew Halal, to "make self vile" or to "make a fool of self" because the gods cannot punish an insane man.

The vineyard theme of the "now but not yet kingdom" is that Christ had his chance but failed. Therefore, there will be another premillenial try but first the new "apostles and prophets of the new wineskin" will have to produce an ecumenical church before Jesus will be able to return. Therefore, the charismatic Sectarianism of musical praise goes along with the universalism because it is important to them that they produce unity even if it means in the manifest sons of god that the old Bible believers have to be destroyed.

"In time, possibly quite early, the magical aspect of literature must have tended to fade from people's consciousness, yielding to more nearly aesthetic attitudes

that viewed the praise hymns as expressions of allegiance and loyalties and accepted the narrative genres of myth and epic for the enjoyment of the story and the values expressed, poetic and otherwise.

For instance, when the Jewish clergy as "children piping to make Jesus mourn or dance" the Dionysic rituals had been made into children's games in the marketplaces or seeker centers. They were playing 'funeral' and 'wedding.'

Hymns, myths, and epics all were believed
........... to sustain existing powers and virtues by means of praise,
........... but laments were understood to praise blessings and powers lost,

originally seeking to hold on to and recall them magically, through the power in the expression of intense longing for them and the vivid representation of them.

"Jingling, banging, and rattling accompanied heathen cults, and the frenzying shawms of a dozen ecstatic cries intoxicated the masses. Amid this euphoric farewell feast of a dying civilization, the voices of nonconformists were emerging from places of Jewish and early Christian worship ..." (Encyclopedia Judaica, 1971 ed., s.v. "Music")

In worship, this death-spasm may result because its "spirit" is "excitement" or "wine" rather than "Word" which gives life. By not anchoring faith in Christ's power to accomplish His task during His first advent, musical praise masters and Sister Singers might drug the church and its dying gasp might look exciting. This may be something like what happened to the chicken when I chopped its head off.

This breakdown usually happens because --

"Based on the concept of an organic pattern in the life course of civilization, a morphology of history: the idea that every culture has its period of youth, its period of culmination, its years then of beginning to totter with age

and of striving to hold itself together by means of rational planning, projects, and organization,
........... only finally to terminate in decrepitude, petrification... and no more life.

Moreover, in this view of Spengler's, we were at present on the point of passing from what he called the period of Culture to Civilization, which is to say, from our periods of youthful, spontaneous, and wonderful creativity to those of

uncertainty and anxiety, contrived programs, and the beginning of the end." (Campbell, Joseph, Myths to Live By, p. 84)

Yes, all of the evidence is that the superstitious praise craze is the most sectarianizing and Satanic movement in church history. And you are part of it unless "you come out of her."

The agents of change identify themselves as Post-Modern or Post-Denominational. Those who still depend on the commands and examples of the Bible are disparangly dismissed as "old moderns."

The lamentations were performed by a separate professional, the elegist.

[Always wondered if they have praise or song leaders why they don't have weeping or mourning leaders. Well, some have added that "separate professional" to lament and mourn "for" the congregation. However, Jesus cast out, 'more or less violently' the female mourning team before He wold heal the young girl.]

It contained dirges for the dying gods of the fertility cults and laments for temples and cities that had been destroyed and desecrated. The laments for temples--which, as far as is known, go back no earlier than to the 3rd dynasty of Ur--were used to recall the beauties of the lost temple

as a kind of inducement to persuade the god and the owner of the temple to restore it.

Penitential psalms lament private illnesses and misfortunes and
........... seek to evoke the pity of the deity addressed and thus to gain divine aid.

The genre apparently is late in date, most likely Old Babylonian (c. 19th century BC), and in it the element of magic has, to all intents and purposes, disappeared.

See how Ningal, the goddes of Ur leads the mourning team.

Clement of Alexandria on the power of Musical Praise Leaders

For such are the begging priests of Cybele. Hence Antisthenes replies appropriately to their request for alms:-

"I do not maintain the mother of the gods,
For the gods maintain her."

Again, the same writer of comedy, expressing his dissatisfaction with the common usages, tries to expose the impious arrogance of the prevailing error in the drama of the Priestess, sagely declaring:-

"If a man drags the Deity
Whither he will by the sound of cymbals,
He that does this is greater than the Deity;
But these are the instruments of audacity and
means of living Invented by men."

"Choir singing" is a fairly new apostasy introduced by Rome which was ever ready to adopt any program which would fund the Cathedrals as Seeker-Centers.

Apart from plainsong, there was no choral singing in the early church. When polyphony (multipart music) first came into use, [Note: Britannica Members costs you $3 a month but well worth it]

its relative complexity demanded soloists as interpreters.
About
1430, however, Italian manuscripts began to hint at choral singing of straightforward polyphony

with the direction that sections in three parts were to be sung by the chorus, or all voices, in contrast to sections in two parts, marked either unus (one voice to a part) or duo (duet for solo voices).

"The alternation of soloists and chorus eventually led to the use of two choirs, one on each side of the church or (as at St. Mark's, Venice) in the galleries, so that psalms, canticles, and even masses could be sung antiphonally (i.e., by contrasting choirs). Music for divided choirs, or cori spezzati, was developed in the early 16th century and reached a peak of excellence in the late 16th- and early 17th-century works of Giovanni Gabrieli.

"The growth of secular choirs, sometimes called choruses, coincided largely with the beginnings of opera, in which choruses have generally taken some part. Opera-house choruses normally employ professional singers. An oratorio choir, on the other hand, is part of a different tradition, which stems from the augmented church choirs used to provide choral portions of a given oratorio, whether performed in or out of church. Oratorio choirs thus formed an outlet for amateur singers.

Here is the prophecy:

Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood (poison), and give them water of gall to drink. Jeremiah 9:15

Gall is Poppy or opium or morphine-like which is endorphins created by music and other excitement. There is no evidence that God fed them literal morphine.

I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them. Jeremiah 9:16

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning (skilful or artistic) women, that they may come: Jeremiah 9:17

Quwn (h6969) koon; a prim. root; to strike a musical note, i. e. chant or wail (at a funeral): - lament, mourning woman.

And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us,

that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters. Jeremiah 9:18

Nahah (h5091) naw-haw'; a prim. root; to groan, i. e. bewail; hence (through the idea of crying aloud) to assemble as if on proclamation: - lament, wail.

For a voice of wailing is heard (responsive singing) out of Zion, How are we spoiled we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out. Jeremiah 9:19

Spoiled is:

Shadad (h7303) shaw-dad'; a prim. root; prop. to be burly, i. e. (fig.) powerful (pass. impregnable); by impl. to ravage: - dead, destroy (- er), oppress, robber, spoil (-er), * utterly, (lay) waste.

The Old Testament word for musical instruments and concubines carries the same meaning of sexual authority:

I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. Eccl 2:8

I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the treasure of kings and provinces; I got singers, both men and women, and many concubines, man's delight. Eccl 2:8RSV

Yet hear the word of the Lord, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation. Jeremiah 9:20

Lamentation is:

Qiynah (h7015) kee-naw'; from 6969; a dirge (as accompanied by beating the breasts or on instruments): - lamentation.

Qayin (h7014) kah'-yin; the same as 7013 (with a play upon the affinity to 7069); Kajin, the name of the first child, also of a place in Pal., and of an Oriental tribe: - Cain, Kenite (-s).

For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets. Jeremiah 9:21

Most deviations from the Biblical pattern do not follow the principle of 'Christian liberty' but walk hand in hand with ancient paganism. This is the worst form of legalism: believeing that musical "praise" can enable a weak god or stimulate him into action. many of the Psalms are attempts to awaken God and were suppressed during the intertestament period.

The Psalmist having lost the presence of God cried out:

Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. Psa 57:8
Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Psa 44:23

"We even have a mention at a later date of a similar custom in connection with the cult in Jerusalem, where certain Levites, called me'oreim, 'arousers,' sang (every morning?) this verse from Ps 44:23: "Awake, O Lord! Why do you sleep? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever."

The Talmud tells us that John Hyrcanus suppressed the practice because it recalled too readily a pagan custom." (de Vaux, Roland, The Bible and the Ancient Near East, Doubleday, p. 247).

And Paul warned the Corinthians:

If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes,
........... how will any one know what is played? 1 Co.14:7

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,
........... but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 2 Co.10:4

The word translates either "lifeless instruments" or "carnal weapons."

However, God warns:

But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. Hab 2:20

That holy temple is my heart or mind or spirit: to worship "in spirit" there is room for only me and God or you and God. No team can usher you into the presence of God: Levitical musicians would have been executed if they barged into the holy areas.

There was no 'congregational' praise service with or without instruments under the Law. Mature males were called to "muster" three times a year. Women and children were not warriors and therefore did not have to attend the festivals.

There was no praise service in the Synagogue.

The Hebrew for "synagogue" and the Greek for "church" mean the same thing.

The assembly recited or taught the inspired Word of Christ (Col 3) or the Spirit (Eph 5) and (Romans 15) as edification or education. There is not a remote hint of a "praise ritual" or a "praise leader" in the New Testament.

It is all paganism which has its roots in the first attempt to usurp God's throne "agented" by the "nagas" or serpent or dragons or "the tallest tree in Eden" or the king of Tyre or Babylon whose "harps" went with him/her into sheol. Revelation 18 prophesies that it will happen again.

The Anglicans Rejoice:

A new interfaith movement, championed by Bishop Michael Ingham of New Westminster, aims to parallel the idea of the United Nations without its bureaucratic structures.

A chapter has just started in British Columbia's Lower Mainland, believed to be Canada's first, Bishop Ingham said. Also belonging are representatives of the United and Unitarian churches, along with a Hindu, a Muslim and a Sikh.

The URI will get its official start in Pittsburgh in June. Pittsburgh was chosen because it has the most bridges of any city in the Americas. People will cross the bridges, as a symbol of global co-operation, to sign the United Religions charter, on the anniversary of the signing of the UN charter. UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan is expected to attend, as the Dalai Lama.

Note the eternal serpent below.

6 sides, 6 points, 6 angles: Equating the Parliament of the World's Religions to the Theosophical Society, the symbol is most interesting. We are finding that major popular universities such as Harvard are working on projects like the United Nations with universities throughout the country. They research, receive funding for pluralism projects, run seminars teaching pluralism to school teachers, publish, why we need to embrace pluralism and how to get students to accept it. They labor under the assumption that this type of world society will ultimately bring in that heavenly millennium prophesied in the Bible where the lion and the lamb will lovingly lay next to each other and live happily ever after.

The case for a United Religions Organization, in summary, is that

it provides a conduit for divine power
to
bring healing and inspiration to Earth.

The URO should also enlarge the religious vision of the human race as a whole and, hence, human decency.

BUT MAYBE IIT IS JUST TO SUCK IN THE SEEKERS TO FOOL THE FOOL

"Alexander, on the other hand, preferred his native place, urging very truly that an enterprise like theirs required congenial soil to give it a start,

in the shape of 'fat-heads' and simpletons; that was a fair description, he said, of the Paphlagonians beyond Abonutichus;

they were mostly superstitious and well-to-do; one had only to go there with someone to play the flute, the tambourine, or the cymbals, set the proverbial mantic sieve a-spinning, and there they would all be gaping as if he were a god from heaven.
