New Wineskins: Jay Guin Introduction: The Instrumental Music Issue: Review

12.03.15  Paul warned that people who corrupt the Word or sell learning at retail are defined by the word "prostitute."  They may believe their own lies but the text says that they are ancient spirits unleashed by Abaddon or Apollyon who is the Musical Worship Leader.

Instrumental and Trinitarian idolatry at Mount Sinai was a sin beyond redemption because the people ascribed to The Book of The Covenant but rose up in PLAY.  Acts 7, Romans 10 and 1 Corinthians 10 is the EXAMPLE or PATTERN against the worship of Demons. Apis the golden calf was the symbol of the Egyptian and other trinities repudiated by all of Scripture

God saw this Musical Worship Team and abandoned them to Babylonianism at the temple God did not command

You can get a Phd and intentionally sow discord without knowing that God marked you.

Below: God say this just BEFORE and just AFTER Hezekiah's Plague Stopping Exorcism. This is recorded in 2 Chronicles 29: it is the PATTERN a "spirit" commanded Rick Atchley etal to impose "instrumental praise".  Spiritus in Latin defines the personified spirit as that of Apollon or Abbadon. He is the ruler of the locusts to readers is defined as the leader of the Muses or the adulterous musicians. In Revelation 18 they are defined as sorcerers who HAD deceived the wholeworld.

Judas  was a thief: his bag or box was

He is defined as the familiar friend of Jesus in Psalm 41. He would try to ALARM or TRIUMPH over Jesus: this is a MARK. It was outlawed in the Church of Christ in the Wilderness as vocal or instrumental rejoicing or any speaking beyond the Word

Aristot. Rh. 3.6.3 [3] Use metaphors and epithets by way of illustration, taking care, however, to avoid what is too poetical. Aristot. Rh. 3.6.7   Poets also make use of this in inventing words, as a melody "without strings" or "without the lyre"; for they employ epithets from negations, a course which is approved in proportional metaphors, as for instance, to say that tNhe sound of the trumpet is a melody without the lyre.

Note: Psallo is never translated "melody" in the Greek literature.  If you want to sow discord instead of psallo and add TUNEFUL MELODY with an instrument the word is Melos. That's why Paul nor the Bible ever uses the word and why it is A LIE to make "melody or grace IN the heart mean melody WITH a harp.  The word PSALLO would absolute outlaw using any instrument you cannot pluck WITH YOUR FINGERS and never with a plectrum.
From the Church in the wilderness onward and defined by the Campbells the command was to speak the Words of God externally and rehearse or meditate on them in the heart.

-[3. 8. 1 The form of diction should be neither metrical nor without rhythm. If it is metrical, it lacks persuasiveness, for it appears artificial, and at the same time it distracts the hearer's attention, since it sets him on the watch for the recurrence of such and such a cadence.

-Pindar, Pythian, Odes 4:[216] Aphrodite [ZOE] of Cyprus brought the maddening bird to men for the first time, and she taught the son of Aeson skill in prayerful incantations, so that he could rob Medea of reverence for her parents. and a longing for Greece would lash her, her mind on fire, with the whip of Persuasion.

Music from mystery means to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter." Jesus said that doctors of the law take away the key to knowledge.  Jesus called  them as Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites meaning speakers, singers or instrument players for hire.

Pasan Id.O.7.50 . Pindar, Olympian 7. [10] for those men who were victors [nike] at Olympia and at Pytho. That man is prosperous, who is encompassed by good reports. Grace, which causes life to flourish, looks with favor now on one man, now on another, with both the sweet-singing lyre and the full-voiced notes of flutes.

[13] And now, with the music of flute and lyre alike I have come to land with Diagoras, singing the sea-child of Aphrodite and bride of Helios, Rhodes Truly, a cloud of forgetfulness sometimes descends unexpectedly, and draws the straight path of action away from the mind. For they climbed the hill without bringing the seed of burning flame; and they established the sacred precinct on the acropolis with fireless sacrifices. Zeus brought to them a yellow cloud [50] and rained on them abundant gold. And the gray-eyed goddess herself bestowed on them [51] every art, so that they surpassed all mortal men as the best workers with their hands;

Lack of understanding is clear from the text which can be read by people with "A" holy spirit or "A" good conscience.

Ephesians 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Jesus said My Words are SPIRIT and they are LIFE. The only Resource is the Will of the Lord.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom

Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,

Col 3:16 singing with grace IN your hearts to the Lord.
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope
Romans 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Both ODE and PSALLO have connotations of making war, making perverted sex and defines enchantment or SORCERY.
Even simple people understand that the CENI is:

SPEAK to yourselves using "that which is written for our LEARNING: what a Disciple does."  Some Psalms are called teaching psalms and one might blaspheme by claiming that the Spirit just did not KNOW to added SING that which is for out entertainment.

The ODE and PSALLO is in the PLACE of the human heart: We worship ONLY in the spirit or mind.

The MARK of the end-time Apollo, Abaddon or Apollyon is that he is the LEADER of the MUSES.
Recorded history notes that "evil people set their lies to melodies to cheat the simple minded.
Recorded history also notes that music HINDERS learning and intends to HURT: Psallo and SOP have the same root meaning.

The Purpose is to Teach, Comfort and Glorify God with "that which is written for our learning."  If simple reading cannot eleminate the external Instrumental Noises, perhaps word definitions can help:

        the

andthey say that the universe is constituted in accordance with harmony,
assuming that every form of music is the work of the gods.
And in this sense, also, the
Muses are goddesses,
and
Apollo is leader of the Muses,
and
poetry as a whole is laudatory of the gods.

And by the same course of reasoning they also attribute to music the upbuilding of morals, believing that everything which tends to correct the mind is close to the gods.

Now most of the Greeks assigned to Dionysus, Apollo, Hecate, the Muses (9 women team), and above all to Demeter, everything of an orgiastic or Bacchic or choral nature, as well as the mystic element in initiations; and they give the name "Iacchus" not only to Dionysus but also to the leader-in-chief of the mysteries, who is the genius of Demeter.
Rev. 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Apollo is considered to have dominion over plague, light, healing, colonists, medicine, archery, poetry, prophecy, dance, reason, intellectualism, Shamans, and as the patron defender of herds and flocks. Apollo had a famous oracle in Crete and other notable ones in Clarus and Branchidae.

Apollo is known as the leader of the Muses ("musagetes") and director of their choir. His attributes include: swans, wolves, dolphins, bows and arrows, a laurel crown, the cithara (or lyre) and plectrum. The sacrificial tripod is another attribute, representative of his prophetic powers.

The swan and grasshopper symbolize music and song; the hawk, raven, crow and snake have reference to his functions as the god of prophecy. The chief festivals held in honour of Apollo were the Carneia, Daphnephoria, Delia, Hyacinthia, Pyanepsia, Pythia and Thargelia.

Thalrgelia in Greek religion, one of the chief festivals of Apollo at Athens, celebrated on the sixth and seventh days of Thargelion (May-June). Basically a vegetation ritual upon which an expiatory rite was grafted, the festival was named after the first fruits, or the first bread from the new wheat.

On the first day of the festival, one or two men (or a man and a woman), representing the deity but also acting as scapegoats for community guilt, were first led through the city and then driven out. Occasionally, as in times of heavy calamity, they were sacrificed, being either thrown into the sea or burned on a funeral pyre. On the second day of the festival, there were a thanks offering, a procession, and the official registration of adopted persons.

-Apollo  Apollo exercises an elevating and inspiring influence on the mind as god of music, which, though not belonging to him alone any more than atonement and prophecy, was yet pre-eminently his province.

In Homer he is represented only as a player on the lyre,
while
song is the province of the Muses;
but in course of time he grows to be the
god, as they are the goddesses, of song and poetry,
        and is therefore
Mousagetês (leader of the Muses) as well as master of the choral dance,

which goes with music and song. And as the friend of all that beautifies life he is intimately
    associated with the Graces
[Graces meaning CHARIS meaning Charismatic
meaning the MARK of homosexual "worship"]

This elevating and inspiring influence on the mind is the Laded Burden Jesus came to put down or the Self-pleasure or "creation of mental excitement" outlawed by Paul in Romans 15 SO THAT teaching that which is written for our learning is possible.

Jay Guin Instrumental Music and the "one cup parallel?"
If you cannot know the meaning of ASSEMBLY as A School of Christ (Christ in the wilderness and the Campbells) you may not know what you my impose upon others.  I can be a Disciple of the Word (only) of Christ (only) and sip out of one cup or my own. If someone claims to be building on the Prophets and Apostles but does self-speak (outlawed in Isaiah 58) with not-too-talented musicians to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter" THAT is defined from Genesis to Revelation as "a salvation issue."

4.03. 13 A Review of Ray Downen endorsing Jay Guin who suggests that everything that EDIFIES should be allowed in the assembly.  However, the word EDIFY is defined in the Bible and historic literature meaning to EDUCATE.  Paul commanded that "we use one mind and one mouth to speak that which is written for our learning." That was the SINGULAR PATTERN for the qahal, synagogue, ekklesia or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness.

5.02.11 See Danny Dodd and Royce Ogle on Legalism

John T. Willis 2. "Sing" is vocal; "make melody" is instrumental. Psalms 33:2-3; 144:9; 149:1, 3 make this crystal clear. Amos 5:23 further verifies this reality.  People forget that God turned Israel over to worship the starry host because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai. The Levites were under the KING and the COMMANDERS of the army: they made war and not worship. We will examine these passages in context.

2.20.11

Jay Guin is a good lawyer: he has come up with a new foundational authority for instrumental music.  However, his premise that God commanded the king, kingdom, temple, animal sacrifices and the associated instrumental noise is wrong: there is no historic scholarship among the church fathers that God commanded that which was the result of "firing" God and demanding a human king.

NEW WINE SKINS: JAY GUIN'S SUMMARY OF RICK ATCHLEY AND CHRIS SEIDMAN: "How to boil a frog."

by Jay Guin, Guest Editor

September - December, 2010

I will review Jay Guin as time permits although I have done this in pieces. It will be interesting to hear how people have deliberately sown discord wiithough knowing about the Bible so they could make a placef for the musical PERSONAE in THEIR assembly: the personae is not NICE beginning with "Lucifer the singing and harp playing prostitute in the garden of Eden."

Ray Downen is a major resource for teaching against the ANTI-instrumental position as he calls it. He like all of those imposing instruments relies heavily on Hezekiah's Plague Stopping animal sacrifice.  Here is a short summary of the BURNT GOATS which is the only place the Levites (an old infant burning cult) made noise with the king's instruments. Of course, Christ says that it was not commanded.

New Wine Skins Review of Part Two: Jay using Galatians on legalism to justify the use of instruments which in fact was a legalistic system of exorcism used in all pagan temples including Jerusalem. Ephesians 5 has Paul warning about the emasculated priests of Cybele and other Mother Goddesses.

New Wineskins Part Three: using the Kingdom to Authorize instrumental music.

Click: New 10.31.10 Al Maxey violating direct commands to interpret what Jesus Died to "further interpret."

Jay Guin: Flipping through the archives of New Wineskins, I discovered that there’d never been an issue on instrumental music. I mean, for a Church of Christ publication not to address instrumental music is unthinkable. And so, this month we’ll redress the failure.

New Wineskins has been at the heart of the "hireling-changeling" movement. The Zoe Group has been the "instrument" for training people HOW to turn your church into a theater for holy entertainment.

Jay Guin: But we won’t address it in the usual way. Everyone’s heard all the old arguments pro and con. After over a century of debate, the paths are well worn and the ground is packed hard. What would be the point of regurgitating either set of arguments yet one more time? And so, this time, the discussion will cover fresh ground. Here’s the plan —

No, Jay Guin has never heard the evidence because no one is a Disciple and cares to read the data in context.

As a matter of fact the PATH is well hidden from those who do not love the truth: those who would actively promote sowing discord.

Theologians depend on the argument for a task that has "no certificate of need." Because many are called but FEW are chosen, it is not logical that those promoting a marketplace religion would be permitted to read the whole Bible. Those who understand "WHAT IS AND EKKLESIA OR SYNAGOGUE" could not possibley try to promote something that deliberately sows discord and "steals the church house of widows."

LYING WONDERS: REASON AND MARKS OF EASY IDENTITY

When people minimize the Word of God He sends them strong delusions that they believe a lie and are damned. The MARK of strong delusions is turning the School of Christ into a "Theater for Performing Arts." That is why people cannot see Christ the Spirit warning against musical instruments and those who resort to them to give credance to their own false teaching.

Based on several passages in the Bible musical instruments is a code word for people who say "I will not listen to God's Word again." Or else, because of the musical idolatry at Mount Sinai God "turned them over to worship the starry host."  This was completed when God granted the elders wish to "fire Him"so they could worship like the nations."

In Ephesians 4 God gave the inspired leaders and later uninspired to make sure that the Church was engaged ONLY in making known God's Will to the evil principalities and powers in high places. In First Corinthiians One we see that Christ prophesied and Paul affirmed that the High Places of paganism would be the PODIUMS.

Gal. 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

Grace means power: it never means unlimited forgiveness for unlimited sins.

d The varying nomoi concerning Eros may be classified thus:—

(1) In all Greek states except Athens the nomos is simple, either (a) approving paederastia, as in Elis and Boeotia; or (b) condemning it, as in Ionia and states subject to barbarian rule, where it is held to foster a dangerous spirit of independence (e.g. Harmodius and Aristogiton).

(2) At Athens the nomos is complex. (a) Eros is approved, and its excesses condoned, when directed towards superior youths approaching manhood. (b) It appears to be condemned, in so far as parents forbid their boys to hold converse with “erastae.” The explanation of this ambiguous attitude must be sought in the principle laid down above, that the moral quality of an act depends upon the conditions of its performance. The Athenian nomos provides a test for distinguishing between good and bad forms of Eros: the test of time shows whether or not the right motive (desire for aretē) actuates both the lover and his object. This motive alone justifies all erotic pursuits and surrenders, even mutual deception: hence we conclude that kalon aretēs heneka kharizesthai.

Pind. I. 5
I have come with the Graces for the sons of Lampon to this well-governed city. If Aegina turns her steps to the clear road of god-given deeds, then do not grudge [25] to mix for her in song a boast that is fitting recompense for toils. In heroic times, too, fine warriors gained fame, and they are celebrated with lyres and flutes in full-voiced harmonies for time beyond reckoning. Heroes who are honored by the grace of Zeus provide a theme for skilled poets:
Odyssy 8.179 For one man is inferior in comeliness, [170] but the god sets a crown of beauty upon his words, and men look upon him with delight, and he speaks on unfalteringly with sweet modesty, and is conspicuous among the gathered people, and as he goes through the city men gaze upon him as upon a god. Another again is in comeliness like the immortals, [175] but no crown of grace is set about his wordsSo, in thy case, thy comeliness is preeminent, nor could a god himself mend it, but in mind thou art stunted. Thou hast stirred the spirit in my breast by speaking thus unmannerly.

Musical Fall from Grace at Mount Sinai:

"This reference probably indicates the use of songs from the cult of Osiris... it can hardly be denied that Egyptian influence on Jewish musical practices was quite significant. This would stand to reason because of the high quality of Egyptian cultic music. The tambourine or timbrel, a hoop of bells over which a white skin was stretched, came from Egypt. Miriam used this instrument to accompany the singing and dancing on the shores of the Red Sea (Ex. 15).

"The trumpet... was the signaling instrument of the Egyptian army. The name of the Sistrum (2 Sam 6:5) was mena'ane'im. It was the Egyptian kemken used in the cult of Isis.

The music during the transferring the Ark to Sion (David rose up to play)
and the dances of the women at the Shiloh (Judges 21:21), were similar to the Egyptian liturgy and parades.

"As Herodotus reports, women sang the praises of Osiris while liknesses of the gods were born about and, during the festival of Diana at Bubastis,

Women's singing was a vital part of all pagan worship. In very

times women became priestly singers of the gods in the temple.

"Women and girls from the different ranks of society were proud to enter the service of the gods as singers and musicians. The understanding of this service was universal: these singers constituted the 'harem of the gods'." (Johannes Quasten. In Music and Worship in Pagan and Christian Antiquity, beginning on page 41)

Thence, swift as thought, he speeds from earth to Olympus, to the house of Zeus, to join the gathering of the other gods: then straightway the undying gods think only of the lyre and song,

and all the Muses together, voice sweetly answering voice, [190] hymn the unending gifts the gods enjoy and the sufferings of men,

all that they endure at the hands of the deathless gods, and how they live witless and helpless and cannot find healing for death or defence against old age.

Galatians 5:1.-"With freedom did Christ set us free; stand fast therefore.115 ."

Ver. 12."I would that they which unsettle you would even cut themselves off." And he says well "that unsettle you."

Where then are those who dare to mutilate themselves; seeing that they draw down the Apostolic curse, and accuse the workmanship of God, and take part with the Manichees? ... But if you will not allow this,

why do you not mutilate the tongue for blasphemy, the hands for rapine, the feet for their evil courses, in short, the whole body?

For the ear enchanted by the sound of a flute hath often enervated the soul; and the perception of a sweet perfume by the nostrils hath bewitched the mind, and made it frantic for pleasure

Trouble or unsettle means:

  1. To drive you out of your church
  2. Make an uproar.

Lucian of Samosata USED by the musicators to JUSTIFY instrumental music could be describing the attempt of Jezebel's prophetesses when he described the priests of Cybele or Galloi.

"The unfortunate people mutilate themselves and beat each other on the back. A great crowd standing nearby accompanies them with flute music, the clashing of cymbals or the ecstatic singing of holy songs.

All this occurs, however, outside the temple.
Those who are occupied with such actions do not go inside.

In these days the number of the Galloi is increasing. For when the others play the flute and celebrate their orgies the frenzy falls on many who have come only as spectators.

A young man seized by this madness rips the clothing from his body and dashes into the middle with a loud cry and, snatching one of the swords that stands ready for just such a purpose, he castrates himself." (Lucian, De Dea Syria 50)

And Paul said:

Music & Wiorship in Pagan and Christian Antiquity

From Babylonian tablets and beyond agree with
Johannes Quasten. In Music and Worship in Pagan and Christian Antiquity, beginning on page 41 He uses many of the church Fathers and Classical resources we also rely upon:

"Philodemus considered it paradoxical that music should be regarded as veneration of the gods while musicians were paid for performing this so-called veneration. Again, Philodemus held as self deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy. He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines as a disturbance of the spirit.

He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this folly.

Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music; it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure, which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did.

Women's singing was a vital part of all pagan worship. In very early times women became priestly singers of the gods in the temple.

"Women and girls from the different ranks of society were proud to enter the service of the gods as singers and musicians. The understanding of this service was universal: these singers constituted the 'harem of the gods'." (End of Quasten)

John MacArthur agrees that this might be the meaning:

Some used wine to assist in the euphoric experience, as Paul implied in Ephesians 5:18. Whether from literal intoxication or emotional exhilaration, when worshipers fell into a state of euphoria, it was as if they had been drugged. They assumed they were in contact with God. (MacArthur, John, Charismatic Chaos, p. 164. Zondervan)

Nietzsche wrote, "For art to exist, for any sort of aesthetic activity to exist, a certain physiological precondition is indispensable: intoxication."

Dionysus was associated with the "personal delivery from the daily world through physical or spiritual intoxication," according to Encyclopedia Mythica

I HAVE ADDED THE FOLLOWING IMAGES AS A QUICK START TO PROVE THAT THE LEGALISM WAS THE PAGANISM OF THE SACRIFICIAL SYSTEM WHICH RICK ATCHLEY ETAL USE AS THEIR PATTERNISM FOR RESTORING WHAT GOD IMPOSED AS A CURSE.

CONCLUSIONS: PAUL ALWAYS AND IN GALATIANS REPUDIATES THE USE OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS WHICH WOULD "NORMALLY" BE SOMETHING ONLY WOMEN COULD FALL INTO.

Jay Guin: “The Early Church on Instrumental Music,” by Danny Corbitt. Danny, the author of Missing More Than Music: When Disputable Matters Eclipse Worship and Unity, will offer material regarding the historical argument that should be brand new to most readers. Recent research into the writing and thinking of the Early Church Fathers has dramatically changed our understanding of why they said what they said about instrumental music.

AL MAXEY VIOLATING DIRECT COMMANDS BY INTERPRETING THAT WHICH CHRIST FINISHED.

Jay Guin: “Reflective or Regulative? Inquiry into Two Interpretive Principles and their Application to Instrumental Accompaniment in a Worship Assembly,” by Al Maxey. Al will offer a critique of the Regulative Principle (silence is a prohibition) and offer a better way of addressing the silences of the scriptures.

Proposition 5 --- "That with respect to the commands and ordinances of our Lord Jesus Christ, where the Scriptures are silent, as to the express time or manner of performance, if any such there be;
no human authority has power to interfere,
in order to supply the supposed deficiency,
        by making laws for the church;
The Disciples / Christian church subscribed to the High Church principle which no one ever voted for to give themselve the right to use Scripture, Church Councils, Traditionalism and Silence.

Christ ordained the Qahal, synagogue or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the Wilderness
It was INCLUSIVE of Rest, Reading and Rehearsing the Word of God.
It was EXCLUSIVE of "vocal or instrumental rejoicing." Simple peoplle know better than to do that when Jesus comes to be our only Teacher when WE teach or sing "that which is written" or "that which has been taught." Romans 15 which EXCLUDES all rhetorical, musical or theatric performance.

Jesus exampled the synagogue which, by direct command never had a "praise service."
Jesus commanded the ekklesia which in the civil sense would hurt musicians really bad.
Paul always repudiates the performing artists before defining the role of the synagogue.
Jesus "cast out" the Musical Minstrels using a term "like dung."
Jesus consigned the pipers, singers and dancers to the marketplace with all other pollutants and consumables.

Jesus commanded that the apostles make DISCIPLES: Disciples are students and Jesus commanded that we "Teach what He has COMMANDED to be taught."

Jesus did not command ceremonial legalism but a School of His Word
Those who IMPOSE instruments know that they have no command, example or inference.
They in fact make a LAW which is often spoken out loud: "Get over it or get out."
They assume that there is a DEFICIENCE in the Word of God.
nor can any thing more be required of Christians in such cases,
but only that they so observe these commands and ordinances,
as will evidently answer the declared and obvious end of their institution.

Imposing instruments knowing that it will sow discord and NEEDING no authority originally violates the Direct command of Christ and all of church history which defends CENI.  If you refuse to be tossed out of your own "synagogue" by robbers, you are FORCED to observe what you and all history defines as a sin.
Much less has any human authority power to impose new commands or ordinances upon the church, which our Lord Jesus Christ has not enjoined."
The BURDEN, dear sectarian, is that YOU must show where Christ commanded instruments. On the contrary, any reader of "words" and pagan patterns knows that Christ in Spirit did in fact repudiate the Musical Minsltrels always marked as witches or sorcerers--as did John 9n Revelation 18.
If anyone can show me in the Scriptures where our Lord has specifically declared His disapproval of the use of instruments as either an accompaniment or aid to singing, then I will reverse my position and declare that divine disapproval publicly. In the absence of such evidence, however, I must choose not to put the assumptions of mere men into His mouth. If all of this was truly a matter of eternal life and death, as some assert, I find it most odd ... don't you?! ... that God never uttered a single syllable about it anywhere in the Bible. He didn't even hint at divine disapproval. Thus, neither shall I.
You would be bound to explain why even simple simons never imposed "congregational singing with the organ in accompaniment."  Singing in that oriental style lwas never opposed until the year 373.

Some will have noticed that Christ was the Word of God (not a people) Who created all things.  It is Christ who defined the king/queen of Tyre as "the singing and harp-playing prostitute in the garden of Eden." It was Christ who had Isaiah define the MARKS of sight and sound of God driving His enemies into hell: it would be the same wind, string and percussion instruments Lucifer used when she was cast as profane out of heaven.

Christ identified the Scribes and Pharisees as Hypocrites: He names false preachers, singers and instrument players.

Christ spoke through John in the book of Revelation. In Revelation 17 he warns about the rise of the Babylon Mother of harlots.  In Revelation 18 "she" used "lusted after fruits" which is exactly parallel to Amos. In Revelation 18 John identified the singers, instrument players and ALL religious teknokrats as SORCERERS.

So, from Genesis where the Serpent is defined as a musical enchantress to Revelation where the same harlot uses musical enchanters to DECEIVE the whole world.

As practiced by Jesus who stood up to read the assigned text and decently sat down, Paul, Peter and early church history continued the church as:

INCLUSIVE of Rest, Reading and Rehearsing the Word of God
EXCLUSIVE of "vocal or instrumental rejoicing." That is the alarm or triumph over: in Psalm 41 it will be the identifying MARK of Judas whose "Judas bag" carried the mouthpieces of wind instruments.  That speaks of the tongues OF THE WORLD: Jesus refused to pray for the WORLD and god HID Himself from the Wise or Sophists.

See the origin of the Synagogue in the Wilderness

See John Calvin's commentary as he speaks of Restoring the Church of Christ.

To presume to INTERPRET the Word of God about anything is probably terminal arrogance.  Peter spoke of the Apostles, who like the prophets who spoke by Christ, as Eye- and Ear-witnesses of the post resurrection glory of Christ who confirmed HIS right to interpret by supernatural signs and willingness to be murcered.

See Second Peter 1 which outlaws what Al Maxey works so hard to do.

This is after the "Jerusalem Counsel" defined the synagogue in absolute terms which everyone understood.
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath
        in every city
        them that preach him,
being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
Paul explains why the Jews were blinded at Mount Sinai and then fell back into musical idolatry. For this affront of 'making music' on the REST day God turned them over to worship the starry host: those were the "gods" worshipped in the temple whatever the Scribes say: Jesus marked the Scribes as hypocrites and in the Ezekiel 33 account He named performance speakers, singers and instrument players.
2Cor. 3:12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
2Cor. 3:13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, t
hat the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
2Cor. 3:14 But their minds were blinded:
for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away
in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
2Cor. 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
2Cor. 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
2Cor. 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
2Cor. 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Peter agreed that the Prophets by Christ and the prophecies made more perfect by Jesus are the primary READING material to mold people into the image of Christ and not to the effeminate speakers or musicians with no Biblical funding.
2Pet. 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy;
whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, (the only Worship Word in the spirit or mind)
as unto a light that shineth in a dark place,
until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
The Evil Day Star is Lucifer: Christ in the prophets called him/her the singing and harp-playing prostitute in the garden of Eden.  The MARKS of God driving His enemies into "Hell" will be thesame wind, string and percussion instruments.
Isaiah 30 God will treat the Musical bandits to the same religion they practiced before and after Hezekiah's plague stopping exorcism.
Rick Atchley's PATTERNISM is taken from 2 Chronicles 29: Hezekiah replaces the CHILDREN burnt offering with GOAT burnt offerings to try to appease Israel. Immediately before this chapter and immediately after it the Levites returned to burning infants to Molech a cult they operated in Egypt.

2Pet. 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

2Pet. 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
having escaped the corruption [connects to musical sounds] that is in the world through lust.
2 Pet 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things alway in remembrance.

2Pet. 1:16  For we have not followed cunningly [sophizo]  devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Jay Guin: “An Afternoon with Rick Atchley and Chris Seidman” is an interview by me of Rick and Chris. Rick is the senior minister of The Hills Church of Christ (formerly The Richland Hills Church of Christ), which is the largest congregation among the Churches of Christ. Chris is the senior minister of the Farmer’s Branch Church of Christ. Both congregations have added instrumental services in addition to their a cappella services.

Jay Guin: Rich and Chris will address a variety of topics,
including why they made the change,
        how they handled the transition,
how the addition of instrumental services have helped the congregations fulfill God’s mission.

Jay Guin: “Reflections on My Interview with Rick Atchley and Chris Seidman,” by Jay Guin. This will be my reflections on what Rick and Chris taught me in the interview. And they taught me a lot.

Both Chris and Rick follow the play book of the NACC which sent out handlers to help make the switch. Each and every one of the proof texts yanked out of context is twisted to try to FORCE the curse God imposed upon Israel because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.  Of course, being a Bible student is not required when you are a rhetorician which Jesus identified as a hypocrite.

The musical fall from Grace at Mount Sinai

Christ in Spirit interprets the musical idolatry in the Prophets who always refuted the "lying pen of the unlawful king's Scribes.

Christian Chronical posted the boast before the first deliberate sowing of discord over adding the "musicl worship team" (a heretical term) and then firing the deacons and selecting or hiring some deaconesses, the number was 6,400 members.  After the addition of instruments their roughly 4,500 attendance dropped to roughly 3,500 which means that the "owners" had their pocket picked three times as the moved from 6,400 to now rougly 4,000+ by countinng two congregations.

Jay Guin: “Beyond the Pitch Pipe” by Ryan Christian. Ryan is the worship minister for The Hills Church of Christ, and he will address what any church considering an instrumental service needs to know about the practicalities of adding an instrumental worship.

Jay Guin is using as authority those who were "handled" by the NACC and their White Paper full of black lies to move their congregationa away from the Church of Christ (the money collecting stage) to a defacto Christian church (the diversions of the monies."

All of those who have been used (willingly) rest their case on the Law of the Monarchy which God permitted to carry out the captivity and death sentence imposed because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.  Rick Atchley actually uses a plague stopping animal slaughter used for exorcism when the sacrifices and sounds were taken out of quarantine which God promised would bring on His wrath.

You see, it’s time. It’s time to get past the “whether it’s okay” debate and move on to the “Is it necessary for this church?” discussion and, for some churches, to the “How do we do it?” discussion.

We’ll post these articles about every-other day. The Q&A with Rick and Chris will be broken down into four posts, due to the length and depth of their comments. And they are deep.

There are two reasons I’m particularly proud of this body of work — meaning the articles by people other than me. First, I’m thrilled to introduce readers to Clyde Symonette, a Bahamian minister for the Westridge Church of Christ, Nassau, Bahamas. We Americans tend to assume that all good Church of Christ theology comes from the USA. God’s mission is to call all nations into his Kingdom, and that can’t happen if no one outside the U.S. gets to be a part of these discussions. Until then, it’s just religious colonialism.

Second, I don’t know about you, but I love a good discussion about doctrinal and practical church leadership issues — when the topic is close to my heart. And this one is. It’s an issue I grew up with and live with. It’s part of who I am. And I’ve savored every word of these articles. Agree or disagree, these are thoughtful, well-written, insightful, fresh works. Enjoy

Just as long as you agree with Jay Quin: He won't tolerate any quoting of the REAL TRUE stuff.
