Sabbath Rest

The SABBATH means Sabbath Rest: the Jews were not commanded to worship on the Sabbath. You cannot keep the Sabbath day holy and also a day of ceremonial Babylonian Sabbath worship. The seventh was a day of dread and the way to remain safe was not to participate in any of the "worship" systems but stay at home or listen to the Word of God.

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein,
...........and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Heb 4:6
Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David,
...........To day, after so long a time; as it is said,
...........To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Heb 4:7

For if Jesus had given them rest,
...........then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. Heb 4:8

Allos (g243) al'-los; a prim. word; "else," i.e. different (in many applications): - more, one (another), (an-, some an-) other (-s, - wise).

Allos (another) is found 160 times in the Greek New Testament and heteros (another) 99 times. "Allos expresses a numerical difference and denotes another of the same sort" (Vine). "Heteros expresses a qualitative difference and denotes another of a different sort" (Ibid.).

Because of Musical Idolatry of symbols of the Devil, God turned them over to worship the starry host (Acts 7). Later, when they "fired God" and demanded a king like the nations God knew that they wanted to worship like the nations. Both temple, animal sacrifices and the loud sacrificial noise (not called music) was an expression of terror.

Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same;
...........that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Heb 2:15 And deliver them, who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Heb 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels;
...........but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren,
...........that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God,
...........to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Jesus said that I will return as "another" Comforter. As another comforter he was of the same kind but of another order. Therefore, Jesus gives us "another day." For instance, the Sabbath (week) day is "SEVENTH of the sabbath." The Lord's Day is "ONE of the Sabbath." We still meet on the Sabbath but on a different order.

NOW of the things which we have spoken this is the sum:
...........We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; Heb 8:1

A minister of the sanctuary,
...........and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. Heb 8:2

For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. Heb 8:3
For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Heb 8:4

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things,
...........as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle:
...........for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. Heb 8:5
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry,
...........by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant,
...........which was established upon better promises.
Heb 8:6
For if that first covenant had been faultless,
...........then should no place have been sought for the second.
Heb 8:7 For finding fault with them, he saith,
...........Behold, the days come, saith the Lord,
...........when I will make a new covenant
...........with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Heb 8:8

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers,
...........in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt;
...........because they continued not in my covenant,
...........and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. Heb 8:9

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Sabbat-ismos , ho,
A. a keeping of days of rest, Ep. Hebr.4.9, cf. Plu.2.166a (codd., baptismous Bentley).

1 Esdras 1:54 - And all the holy vessels of the Lord, great and small, and the treasure chests of the Lord, and the royal stores, they took and carried away to Babylon.

55 - And they burned the house of the Lord and broke down the walls of Jerusalem and burned their towers with fire,
56
- and utterly destroyed all its glorious things. The survivors he led away to Babylon with the sword,
57
- and they were servants to him and to his sons until the Persians began to reign, in fulfilment of the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah:
58
- "Until the land has enjoyed its sabbaths, it shall keep sabbath all the time of its desolation until the completion of seventy years.
When the land observed sabbath and the trees clapped their hands that does not mean that they did WORSHIP on the sabbath: rest means STOP IT.

G4521 sabbaton sab'-bat-on Of Hebrew origin [H7676 ]; the Sabbath (that is, Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself); by extension a se'nnight, that is, the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the plural in all the above applications:--sabbath (day), week

However, it was at first Sabazianis (Dionyus) Sabbath WORSHIP worship to which Israel was abandoned.  That is why the Temple was quarantined from the synagogue for the people.  Persian religion was Mithraism or a SUN-GOD cult.  Mankind received from the seven planets their passions and characteristics. Hence the seven days of the week were dedicated to the planets, seven metals were sacred to them, seven rites of initiation were made to perfect the Mithraist, and so on. As evil spirits ever lie in wait for hapless man, he needs a friend and saviour who is Mithra. Mithra was born of a mother-rock by a river under a tree.  Mithra conquored the sun and became friends. That is why the temple had a Sun Chariot.  Sunday was sacred and that is why Christians were to REST on that day.

Sabaoth, or Sabbat, the god of the Planet Saturn, was better known as Bacchus or Dionysos, and was also styled in Semitic countries, Iao or Yava. His worship was more or less associated and identified with that of the Great Mother, under various designations, and it was characterized by phallephoric [carrying the penis] processions, dances, mourning for the slain divinity, and the Watch Night. It came from Assyria as its peculiar symbols, the ivy or kissos, the spotted robe or Nimr, and the Thyrso, indicate.

Nor are these Thracian orgies, from which the word Worship (threskia) is said to be derived; nor rites and mysteries of Orpheus,

<>whom the Greeks admired so much for his wisdom that they devised for him a lyre which draws all things by its music.
Nor the tortures of
Mithras19 which it is just that those who can endure to be initiated into such things should suffer; nor the manglings of Osiris,20 another calamity honoured by the Egyptians; nor the ill-fortunes of Isis21 and the goats more venerable than the Mendesians, and the stall of Apis,22 the calf that luxuriated in the folly of the Memphites, nor all those honours with which they outrage the Nile, while themselves proclaiming it in song to be the Giver of fruits and corn, and the measurer of happiness by its cubits.23

19 These Mysteries were of Persian origin, connected it is said with the worship of the Sun. The neophytes were mad to undergo twelve different kinds of torture.
[This is what the Israelite civil-religious state was abandoned to because of Apis worship as musical idolatry.  This was why the spiritual Israelites were not commanded to worship but to REST on the Sabbath. If you do musical rituals just as they do on Sunday you are involved with Sun or Saturn or Apollo worship.]

20 The Egyptian Mysteries.

21 Zeus fell in love with Isis, and carried her off in the form of a heifer. Here, discovering the fraud, sent a gadfly, which drove Isis mad.

22 Apis, the sacred bull, worshipped at Memphis. [Musical idolatry at Mount Sinai on the Sabbath]

Worship on the Sabbath means to BOW DOWN and not perform pagan-derived rituals.

Another day, another word for rest which is Greek:

Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
G2663 katapausis kat-ap'-ow-sis From G2664 ; reposing down, that is, (by Hebraism) abode:--rest.

Work means "expending energy." Can you think of "worship service" being RESTFUL?

G2041 ergon er'-gon From ἔργω ergō (a primary but obsolete word; to work); toil (as an effort or occupation); by implication an act:--deed, doing, labour, work.

Paul outlaws all of the religious diversities in Romans 14 which difined the Greek concept of "worship." All of these were addicted to loud, musical rituals which WORKED them into a charismatic--yea-sexual--ecstasy so they could pay the priestess for making the "spirits" (demons) enter into their bodies.  Then, in Romans 15 Paul defined the ekklesia or synagogue used to define his assemblying or gathering.  The synagogue never had a praise service nor did the ekklesia: both were dedicated to the use of the WORD. A musical machine is a machine for doing hard work:
Organon , to, ( [ergon, erdô] ) I. an implement, instrument, engine of any kind (mostly post-Aug.), Col. 3, 13, 12.-
Of military or architectonic engines (whereas machina denotes one of a larger size and more complicated construction)
Ergon  [Ergô] I.work, 1. in Il. mostly of deeds of war, polemêïaerga, 3.a hard piece of work, a hard task, Il.: also, a shocking deed or act,
Polemeios: warlike, aoida war-note, of the trumpet, B.17.4

A. instrument, implement, tool, for making or doing a thing
3.musical instrument,  poluchordaId.R.399c , al.; met 'ôidês kai tinôn organôn of the pipe, Gen 4:21
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Labor is not doing WORKS such as making music which indicated and induced fear:

G4704 spoudazō spoo-dad'-zo From G4710 ; to use speed, that is, to make effort, be prompt or earnest:--
do (give) diligence, be diligent (forward), endeavour, labour, study. meaning from G4228 ; to “speed” (“study”),

Paul said "give attendance" or take heed to "The reading of the [public] reading, exhortation and doctrine 1 Ti 4:13

Why? Because the WORD is the POWER and source of LIFE: Jesus said MY WORDS are Spirit and Life (John 6:63)

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
...........piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
...........and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

When the Jews dismantled the Tabernacle God promised David and moved the Ark of the Covenant to the temple of which Stephen said: "BUT, Solomon built a house. BUT, God doesn't live in houses" and they made the loud instrumental noise, God filled the Holy Places which CUT OFF ACCESS to his Word, the Table of fellowship, the incense altar, His symbolic presence and grace under the mercy seat. No musician performing "exorcism" could enter God's presence.

Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The place of WORSHIP is in the heavenly Tabernacle in the PLACE of our own spirits.  When the "church in the wilderness," the synagogue and the ekklesia assembled it was as a SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE.

The Book of the Covenant had been placed in the Ark of The Covenant when Israel rose up in musical idolatry at Mount sinai.  A believer has ACCESS to the Word of God which is under the mercy seat.

The word GRACE or CHARISMA means 'POWER.' God gives us the POWER. Grace is God's influence for God and is NOT unlimited forgiveness for unlimited sins. The grace-centered concept confesses that it is sinning but that is OK because grace is going to cover it up.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Titus 2:12
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Charis (g5485) khar'-ece; from 5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstr. or concr.; lit., fig. or spiritual;
especially
the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude)

Appeared is Epiphaino meaning LIGHT: We all have access by faith to accept the sacrifice of Christ, be baptized asking Him to remove our sins, then clothe us with His garments of glory and then we are permitted to read BLACK text on WHITE paper (2 COR 3)

This is the ekklesia or synagogue or school of the Bible: all Israelites not part of the Civil-Clergy state imposed upon Israel when they demanded a king attended the assembly to REST, read AND REHEARSE the Word of God.  Numbers 10:7 outlaws both instrumental and vocal noises.

THE SABBATH WAS FOR REST, STUDY AND PRAYER AND NEVER FOR CONDUCTING WORSHIP SERVICES: WHATEVER THE DAY OF THE WEEK.

See what Churches of Christ say about the Sabbath

See that all important events began on the FIRST day because what the "church" does as worship is forbidden on the Sabbath.
False Teachings of the Seventh Day Adventists.

"The authority of the church could therefore not be bound to the authority of the Scriptures, because the Church had changed the Sabbath into Sunday, not by command of Christ, but by its own authority." Canon and Tradition, p. 263

Question - Which is the Sabbath day?
Answer - Saturday is the Sabbath day.
Question - Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?

Answer - We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday." The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50, 3rd ed.

There is not a shred of evidence to support this false teaching: the Bible has been perverted to try to support a latter day revelation about the Sabbath.

common time to begin most religious affairs. The command of circumcision, again, bidding [them] always circumcise the children on the eighth day, was a type of the true circumcision, by which we are circumcised from deceit and iniquity through Him who rose from the dead on the first day after the Sabbath, [namely through] our Lord Jesus Christ.

For the first day after the Sabbath, remaining the first of all the days, is called, however, the eighth, according to the number of all the days of the cycle, and [yet] remains the first.

We have nothing to do with sabbaths or the other Jewish festivals, much less with those of the heathen. We have our own solemnities, the Lord's day, for instance, and Pentecost." Tertullian (A.D. 220)

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 1Co.15:20

Ireneaus in 155-202 A.D. wrote: "The Mystery of the Lord's Resurrection may not be celebrated on any other day than the Lord's Day, and on this alone should we observe the breaking off of the Paschal Feast." We all know he resurrected the day after the Sabbath, the feasts of first fruits which establishes what the early church calls the LORD'S day. All these quotes prove the Church held Sunday as a significant day long before any edict in the 300's.

WARNING, WARNING FOR ALL "OBSERVERS OF DAYS": The Tithe was ONCE a year but not EVERY year. The tithe was lawful ONLY when a farmer was given a FREE FOOD PRODUCING farm, flock or orchard!

1 Corinthians 15:20-23. Jesus gave His life as our Passover lamb on the 14th day of the first Hebrew month, Nisan. We believe that He rose from the dead on the 16th of Nisan, the Feast of Firstfruits. Since Jewish reckoning views part of a day as a full day, the 14th through the 16th was considered three days.

The "first-fruits of the harvest" were offered on the 16th day of Nisan, from that fruit which ripened first in Palestinebarley (but see Men. 84a)and with considerable ceremony, in order to emphasize dissent from the Sadducean interpretation of the Scripture text, "the morrow after the Sabbath" (Lev. xxiii. 11), which is, according to the Sadducees, always Sunday (Men. 65b) Jewish Encyclopedia

There are numerous other historical proofs that Constantine did not change the day of worship. Rather, it is a historical fact that the SABBATH is connected to Saturn and the STAR or SUN worship God abandoned Israel to because of musical idolatry in the wilderness.

The truth: Sabbath does not mean Saturday except in Saturn "worship" as opposed to "rest" to quarantine people from "worship." The FIRST DAY, some SEVENTH DAYS and many EIGHTH DAYS was to hold the Holy Convocations which are antithetical to SDA "Sabbath Worship" where they VIOLATE all of the direct commands of Scripture.

See the Babylon Sabbath

The Church often met on the seventh days to Read the Word of God as commanded for those set times:

CANON XVI.THE Gospels are to be READ on the Sabbath [i.e. Saturday], with the other Scriptures.

CANON XVII. THE Psalms are not to be joined together in the congregations, but a lesson shall intervene after every psalm.

CANON XXIX. CHRISTIANS must not judaize by RESTING on the Sabbath, but must work on that day,

rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians.
But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ.

The church observed the Lord's Supper universally on the Lord's Day (First day) because that was the EVENT to be honored and the universal practices of the church. To eat the Lord's Super on Saturn's Day would have no authority from Judaism and would dishonor the Lord Who has HIS OWN DAY.

The emperor Constantine: ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA: Sunday, first day of the week; in Christianity, the Lord's Day, the weekly memorial of Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead. The practice of Christians gathering together for worship on Sunday dates back to apostolic times, but details of the actual development of the custom are not clear. Before the end of the 1st Century AD, the author of Revelation gave the first day its name of the "Lord's Day" (Rev. 1:10). Saint Justin Martyr (c. 100-c. 165), philosopher and defender of the Christian faith, in his writings described the Christians gathered together for worship on the Lord's Day: the gospels or the Old Testament was read, the presiding minister preached a sermon, and the group prayed together and celebrated the Lord's Supper. The emperor Constantine (d. 337), a convert to Christianity, introduced the first civil legislation concerning Sunday in 321, when he decreed that all work should cease on Sunday, except that farmers could work if necessary. This law, aimed at providing time for worship, was followed later in the same century and in subsequent centuries by further restrictions on Sunday activities. (15th edition, vol. 11, pg. 392)

Paul compares their adoption of Jewish Sabbaths and festivals to a return to bondage to "elemental spirits" (Colossians 2:16-17,20; Galatians 4:3,9). We are NOT saved by our observance of the Sabbath or by keeping any of the laws of the Old Testament (Galatians 3:10-11).

THE MEANING OF THE SEVENTH DAY

Sunday is the the FIRST DAY Sabbath or REST: Sunday is not the SEVENTH DAY Sabbath or rest. The direct commands of the Old Testament favor the FIRST or EIGHTH days to hold the Holy Convocation which is the purpose of the Qahal or Synagogue or church in the wilderness.

I claim that the FIRST OF THE SEVEN is the day to REST and in the words of Jesus "come learn of men." The FIRST of the seven and the EIGHTH of the seven were commanded days to assemble for "school." That is never called WORSHIP. If we could grasp that ekklesia is synagogue or "school of the Bible" then the conflict could cease.

Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the
seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

The Seventh Day is:

Shÿbyy (h7637) sheb-ee-ee'; or shÿbiy sheb-ee-ee'; ordinal from 7657; seventh: - seventh (time)

This also means a week.

You will note that God was creative beginning on the FIRST DAY when his ACT was to SPEAK HIS WORD. He did not WORSHIP on the seventh day but RESTED: to perform religious rituals as work on the seventh day would be to remove its sacredness as a provision form mankind to SERVE mankind and protect him from religionism as Moses pointed to the fallen Israelites to the captivity and death sentence imposed because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.

ISN'T THAT SATURDAY?

The Sabbath as REST may or may not be on what we call SATURDAY (day of Saturn): it is specified on the FIRST and EIGHTH days:

Shabbath (h7676) shab-bawth'; intens. from 7673; intermission, i. e. (spec.) the Sabbath: - (/ every) sabbath.

Shabath (h7673) shaw-bath'; a prim. root; to repose, i. e. desist from exertion; used in many impl. relations (caus., fig. or spec.): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep (sabbath), suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

H7674 shebeth sheh'-beth From H7673 ; rest, interruption, cessation: cease, sit still, loss of time.

H7676 shabbath shab-bawth' Intensive from H7673 ; intermission, that is, (specifically) the Sabbath: (+ every) sabbath.

What days were the Assembly Be called?

Ex 12:16 - And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

H5656 ab-o-daw', ab-o-daw' From H5647 ; work of any kind:act, bondage, + bondservant, effect, labour, ministering (-try), office, service (-ile, -itude), tillage, use, work, wrought.

The word SERVILE outlaws the type of service performed at the temple by the singers, musicians, porters or others engaged in animal sacrifice.

H5647bad aw-bad' bond-service, compel, do, dress, ear, execute, + husbandman, be wrought, worshipper.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exod 20:8

Qadash (h6942) kaw-dash'; a prim. root; to be (causat. make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): - appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, defile, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), * wholly.

Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: Exod 20:9

Labor is the SERVICE the Levites performed in the later sacrificial system.

Abad (h5647) aw-bad'; a prim. root; to work (in any sense); by impl. to serve, till, (caus.) enslave, etc.: - * be, keep in bondage, be bondmen, bond-service, compel, do, dress, ear, execute, / husbandman, keep, labour (-ing man), bring to pass, (cause to, make to) serve (-ing, self), (be, become) servant (-s), do (use) service, till (-er), transgress [from margin], (set a) work, be wrought, worshipper.

Abodah (h5656) ab-o-daw'; from 5647; work of any kind: - act, bondage, / bondservant, effect, labour, ministering (-try), office, service (-ile, -itude), tillage, use, work, * wrought

H5648 Abad ab-ad' (Chaldee); corresponding to H5647 ; to do, make, prepare, keep, etc.: X cut, do, execute, go on, make, move, work.

THIS IS WHAT YOU CANNOT DO ON THE SABBATH OR REST DAY:

1 Chron 25:1 MOREOVER David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun,
who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their
service was:

1 Chron 25:2 Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.

1 Chron 25:3 Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the Lord.

PLAYING INSTRUMENTS ON THE REST DAYS PROHIBITED.

"Playing on musical instruments is prohibited on Sabbaths and holy days, and even to engage a non-Jew to play for Jews on Sabbath is considered a 'shebut' or disturbance of the Sabbath rest." Second, "music, except at marriage ceremonies, is generally prohibited, in token of mourning for the destruction of Jerusalem." (Jewish Encyclopedia, Vol. IX, p. 432, quoted by Kurfees, Instrumental Music).

"It is still banned by rigid adherents to old ways; but in ordinary conservative congregations it is unhesitatingly employed at weddings and other services on week days" (Isadore Singer, Jewish Encyclopedia, p. 134).

The Puritan character of the rabbinical Sabbath is shown in the aversion, deducible from some laws, to loud noises (instance Simeon ben Yona's reproof of his mother for loud talking), clapping of hands, striking with a hammer, trumpet-calls, and music ( While to some of the more ascetic rabbis any loud demonstration of joy undoubtedly approached irreverence and impiety, it may be noted that the minor reasons adduced in regard to music (lest musicians might be tempted to make or repair instruments, or the estimate of music as "labor," not "art")

Two priests, with trumpets in their hands, were at the upper gate (that of Nicanor), which led from the Court of Israel to that of the Women.
At cock-crowing they drew a threefold blast.
As they reached the tenth step, they drew another threefold blast;
as they entered the court itself, they drew yet another threefold blast;

and so they
blew as they advanced, till they reached the gate which opens upon the east (the Beautiful Gate).
As they came to the eastern gate, they turned round towards the west (to face the Holy Place), and said:
'Our fathers who were in this place, they
turned their back upon the Sanctuary of Jehovah,
and their faces toward the east, and
they worshipped towards the rising sun;
but as for us, our eyes are towards the Lord.'
Remembering that the POURED OUT the wine and never drank it:
As soon as the wine and the water were being poured out, the Temple music began,
and the
'Hallel' (Psa 113-118) was sung in the manner previously prescribed,
and to the accompaniment of flutes,
except on the Sabbath and on the first day of the feast,
when flute-playing was not allowed
, on account of the sanctity of the days.

Of course, instruments were never played on the Sabbath because that would be WORK. No one misunderstood that until the year 1815 when a German synagogue had to hire a Gentile ORGANIST.  All apostate synagogues used Gentiles.

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: The Lord (Jehovah) is the god (Elohim) who created all things. Exod 20:10

Jesus gave us REST from religious rituals: Pauo means STOP the singing, playing or anything in a "religious" sense.

[For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is,
and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exod 20:11

Rest cannot be done during religious rituals.

H5117 nach noo'-a A primitive root; to rest, that is, settle down; used in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively, intransitively, transitively and causatively (to dwell, stay, let fall, place, let alone, withdraw, give comfort, etc.): cease, be confederate, lay, let down, (be) quiet, remain, (cause to, be at, give, have, make to) rest, set down. Compare H3241 [Sleep, Slumber]

H5115 navah naw-vaw' A primitive root; to rest (as at home); causatively (through the implied idea of beauty (compare H5116 )), to celebrate (with praises): keep at home, prepare an habitation.

H5116 naveh navah naw-veh', naw-vaw' From H5115 ; (adjective) at home; hence (by implication of satisfaction) lovely; also (noun) a home, of God (temple), men (residence), flocks (pasture), or wild animals (den) comely, dwelling (place), fold, habitation, pleasant place, sheepcote, stable, tarried.

Isa 56:2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it;
that
keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

The sabbath meant REST. The Holy Convocation was to read and rehearse the Word. The assembly was the qahal, synagogue or church in the wilderness. It specificially outlawed loading any burdens on people of which loud rejoicing or singing created the most spiritual anxiety. Numbers defines how the assembly is called:

Num 10:7 But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.

The ALARM was done by blowing instruments and "making a joyful noise before the Lord." This was the warrior's PANIC music as indeed later the "musicians" who made noise were under the KING and COMMANDERS OF THE ARMY.

This was a synagogue or "church in the church in the wilderness. The synagogue which existed alongside the Temple which was a NATIONAL or Gentile temple built at a Jebusite High place and called Sodom in Revelation 18.

This existed SOLELY to read and rehearse the Word: that is what Jesus Did, what Paul commanded and what true churches practiced before SINGING and PREACHING was added almost 400 years too late.

Jesus DID NOT ORDAIN a worship service but a REST: Paul rounded that out in Romans 15 as a "school of the Bible" with no preaching or collection plates.

The Synagogue was:

H6951 qahal kaw-hawl From H6950 ; assemblage (usually concretely):assembly, company, congregation, multitude.

The Alarm was:

H7321 rua roo-ah' A primitive root; to mar (especially by breaking); figuratively to split the ears (with sound), that is, shout (for alarm or joy): blow an alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful noise, smart, shout (for joy), sound an alarm, triumph.

Psalm 41 prophesied that Judas would attempt this on Jesus. The Judas Bag was always attached to a flute case and was "for carrying the mouthpieces of wind instruments." The word "melody" has the root meaning of SOP meaning to grind into a fine powder. Therefore, when Jesus gave Judas the SOP Satan entered into him and he fled.

The idea of POLLUTING the REST DAY (not Saturday) was:

H2490 chalal khaw-lal' figuratively to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one's word), denominatively (from H2485 ) to play (the flute), pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound.

ISAIAH 58 WILL SHOW HOW THE TRUE FAST OR SABBATH SHOULD BE HELD:

Isa 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen?
to loose the bands of wickedness,
to undo the
heavy burdens [band or men or troops],
and to let the oppressed go free,
and that ye break every yoke?

Isa 58:7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry,
and that thou bring the
poor that are cast out to thy house?
when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him;
and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Isa 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,
from doing thy pleasure on my holy day;
and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable;
and shalt honour him,
not doing thine own ways,
nor finding thine own pleasure,
nor speaking thine own words:

Whatever modern "priests" have to say, they probably have no reason to know anything about historical fact. When Constantine ADDED the first day for REST to aid the Christians it was because they ALWAYS met on the FIRST OF THE SEVEN but NOT for worship. The Sabbath in Mithraism began on Friday night and Saturday was a day of doing frightful practices. The church enforced rest or attending the churches to study but there was never a CHANGE of days of worship because outlawed them.

There is no history of SABBATH assemblies other than for study, feeding the poor and later the Mass was held on several days of the week. The church met on the FIRST DAY which is the beginning of a NEW CREATION.

The sabbath was to be a day of solemn rest. However, in the sense of a memorial of the original Passover (repeated in the final Passover by Jesus) a convocation or public meeting begins on the first day:

For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast.

On the first day remove the yeast from your houses,
for whoever eats anything
with yeast in it from the
first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel. Ex.12:15

This typified removing the yeast by a silent search. In the Lord's Supper with unleavened bread and the FRUIT of the vine which is NOT fermented typified our searching our heart.

God ordained the TYPES to have spiritual significance: a believer does not try to make it into a legalistic charge against those who obey God.

And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation,

and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you;
no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. Exodus 12: 16

Of the Feast of Tabernacles:

On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. Lev 23:35

Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord:
on the
eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein. Lev 23:36

The solemn assembly was on the FIRST and the following FIRST DAY.

Acarah (h6116) ats-aw-raw'; or acereth ats-eh'-reth; from 6113; an assembly, espec. on a festival or holiday: - (solemn) assembly (meeting)

Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the Lord seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. Le.23:39

The Holy Convocation was the day when the Qahal in the wilderness and beyond assembled to READ and REHEARSE the Word of God. As Isaiah 58 proves this was NOT the day when you COLLECTED money but when you HANDED IT OUT: Paul commanded Timothy to LABOR so that he could sponsor the Agapae or feeding the poor on their way to work.

And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the Lord into the court of the house of the Lord. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron. 2 Chron 29:16

Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the Lord: so they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end. 2 Chron 29:17

Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner. Ne.8:18

THE WAVE OFFERING (Pentecost by law came on the first day of the week

And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you:
........... on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. Le.23:11

<>And ye shall count unto you from the MORROW after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete Lev 23:15 :
Even unto the morrow
after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord. Le.23:16

And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be
dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut,

and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates,
that
there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. Ne.13:19

The Military-Mithra or SUN worshipers RESTED on the SABBATH beginning on Friday Night. Christians generally observed that day because SUNDAY was not a legal day of REST.

The church attempted to take away the old SUN Sabbath because they now had all of the FIRST day to assemble AND rest. This was because of the bad practices by the Sun worshipers on the SABBATH.

Here is the meaning of preaching which is what Paul commanded Timothy and what the historic church practiced on the first day of the week centuries before Constantine who simply added a REST day for the Christians who already had the standard SUN WORSHIP SABBATH.

Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

It looks like the FIRST DAY was the day that the SABBATH or REST days were held to READ IN THE BOOK. or to READ or REHEARSE the Word of God.

THE Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:
He maketh me to
lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:2

To lie down in Hebrew is:

Rabac (h7257) raw-bats'; a prim. root; to crouch (on all four legs folded, like a recumbent animal); by impl. to recline, repose, brood, lurk, imbed:- crouch (down), fall down, make a fold, lay, (cause to, make to) lie (down), make to rest, sit.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his names sake. Psalm 23:3

Leadeth is:

Nahal (h5095) naw-hal'; a prim. root; prop. to run with a sparkle, i. e. flow; hence (trans.) to conduct, and (by infer.) to protect, sustain:- carry, feed, guide, lead (gently, on).

Still is:

Menuwchah (h4496) men-oo-khaw'; fem. of 4494; repose or (adv.) peacefully; fig. consolation (spec. matrimony); hence (concr.) an abode:- comfortable, ease, quiet, rest (- ing place), still

There are many other passages to prove that one BEGINS on the first day and the eighth day for the SYNAGOGUE or study. Jesus said to come to Me and I will give you REST. This is:

Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:29

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:30

Labor is what we call "religion" and "worship."

Phortizo (g5412) for-tid'-zo; from 5414; to load up (prop. as aa vessel or animal), i.e.
(fig.) to overburden with
ceremony (or spiritual anxiety):- lade, be heavy laden.

Ana means "every one of you."

Pauo means restrain, quit, desist, come to an end, cease, leave, refrain.

Katapauo (g2664) kat-ap-ow'-o; from 2596 and 3973; to settle down, i.e. (lit.) to colonize, or (fig.) to (cause to) desist: - cease, (give) rest (-rain).

1. to make to cease or desist
2. to restrain a thing or person from something
3. to cease, to leave off
4. have got release from sin
1. no longer
stirred by its incitements and seductions

The SYNAGOGUE never assembled on the SABBATHS (rest days) for anything other than devotion to the WORD. You can get the oxen out of the ditch but you cannot perform an OCCUPATION and keep the REST.

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise,
And God did
rest the seventh day from all his works. Heb 4:4

Ergron (g2041) er'-gon; from a prim. (but obsol.) ego, (to work); toil (as an effort or occupation); by impl. an act: - deed, doing, labour, work

If you go with the MOSAIC Sabbath on which Babylonians and others held their RELIGIOUS RITUALS, they you must REST and not even speak your own words. All of the ministers should obey Paul and be ready to MINISTER to the poor when they assemble in their immediate neighborhood.

If you are going to insist on keeping the SABBATH but then doing WORSHIP RITUALS which Jesus removed on the day Jesus died to give us REST from "spiritual anxiety created by religious rituals" then you have made a much latter-day change with the same authority you assume the pope took to CHANGE the day of WORSHIP which he never did: don't trust priests to know much of anything.
