Eusebio Tanicala: Instruments of Music in Worship in Old Testament Times Were Commanded of God

Part Three will See that Amos condemns the ACTS of worship

Answering The Church of Christ uses this false information as one BOOK END proving God commanded instrumental worship and Revelation as the other Book End.  Unfortunately with most of the new ANTIs, he quotes Revelation 18:22 as his proof but In verse 23 John calls them SORCERERS.

It was because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai that the tribe of Levi had to bear the burden of their sin.  The Levites were an old Egyptian cult associated with Molech and the burning of infants which was common in Jerusalem. Isaiah 30 defines FOR WHOM "hell was prepared." The sounds of God driving His enemies into hell was the wind, string and percussion instruments. These are the same ones Lucifer as the King of Tyre had as the singing and harp playing prostitute in the garden of Eden.

Jacob says I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord!" Of Simeon and Levi the patriarch remarks that they
Gen. 49:5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments [Sword or Musical]
         of cruelty are in their habitations.
Gen. 49:6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret;
        unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united:
        for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.

Habitations means "stabbing" from "a cooking range" or boiler, a pot or furnace. God knew that they had a lust for blood and flesh and that was the only rationale for the national or pagan sacrificial systems.

The Levites would be warriors and the latin is bellor To understand such words, the Greek and Latin literature must be read.

In Vergil Aeneit 11 the word Bello is used of the triumph over using music.

With such, return'd triumphant from the war,
Her maids with cries attend the lofty car;
They clash with manly force their moony shields;
With female shouts resound the Phrygian fields.

Pulso To strike or punish, military machines, of musical instruments.

Tŭmultus , 1. In milit. lang., a sudden or impending war, civil war, insurrection, tumult, sedition, rebellion 2. tremendo Juppiter ipse ruens tumultu, i. e. the roar of thunder, storm, etc.:

The sounds are the Halal praise sounds which means "to make self vile" as a threat more often than worship.

Ululu.  This is the "lord, lord" form of prophesying Jesus does not hear.
B.Transf., of places, to ring, resound, re-echo with howling: căno  I. Neutr., to utter melodious notes, to sing, sound, play.

Gen. 49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel:
        I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

"Dan," he says, "shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse-heels, so that his rider shall fall backwards (i.e., he will teach candidates black magic)
Gen 49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way,
        an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels,
        so that his rider shall fall backward.
Dan and the Temple Builder
2Chr. 2:13 And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding,
        of Huram my father’s,
2Chr. 2:14 The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan [Naphtali 1Ki 7:14], and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.
The sacrificial system was imposed on the Levites as a curse or burden.

Num 18:3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle:
        only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar,
        that neither they, nor ye also, di
e.

Num 18:23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation,
        and they shall bear their iniquity:
        it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations,
        that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
BECAUSE WE KNOW GOD ABANDONED THEM TO WORSHIP THE STARRY HOST WHY THINK THAT GOD COMMANDED THIS WORSHIP.   Stephen agrees with Amos and all recorded history:
Acts 7:42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

Acts 7:43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

Under "Star Worship" the Jewish Encyclopedia states:

"Star Worship" is perhaps the oldest form of idolatry practiced by the ancients. The observation of the stars in the East very early led the people to regard the planets and the fixed stars as gods. The religion of the ancient Egyptians is known to have consisted preeminently of Sun-worship. Moses sternly warned the Israelites against worshipping the Sun, Moon, stars, and all the hosts of heaven (Deuteronomy 4:19; 17:3). The Israelites fell into this kind of idolatry and as early as the time of Amos they had the images of Siccuth and Chium, 'the stars of their god' (Amos 5:26); the latter name is generally supposed to denote the planet Saturn. That the Kingdom of Israel fell earlier than that of Judah is stated (II Kings 17:16) to have been due, among other causes, to its worshipping the host of heaven.

But the Kingdom of Judah in its later period seems to have outdone the Northern Kingdom [Israel] in star-worship." Of Manasseh it is related that he built altars to all the hosts of heaven in the two courts of the house of YHWY, and it seems it was the practice of even Kings before him to appoint priests who offered sacrifices to the Sun, the Moon, the planets, and all the hosts of heaven. Altars for star-worship were built on the roofs of the houses, and horses and chariots were dedicated to the worship of the Sun. (II Kings 21:5; 23:4-5, 11-12) Star-worship continued in Judah until the 18th year of Josiah's reign (621 B.C.) when the King took measures to abolish all kinds of idolatry. But although star-worship was then abolished as a public cult, it was practiced privately by individuals who worshipped the heavenly bodies, and poured out libations to them on the roofs of their houses (Zephaniah 1:5; Jeremiah 8:2; 19:13)  Jeremiah, who prophesied in the sixth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin (591 B.C.) describes the worship of the Sun as practiced in the court of the Temple (Ezekiel 8:16) and that even after the destruction of the Temple the women insisted on continuing to worship the Queen of Heaven.

"The ancient Hebrews, being nomads like the Arabs, favored the Moon, while the Babylonians, who were an agricultural nation, preferred the Sun. But, as appears from Ezekiel 20:7-8 the Moon-worship of the Israelites, even while they were still in Egypt was combined with Sun-worship."
Eusebio Tanicala:  Lev.23:23-25, “The LORD told Moses to give these instructions to the Israelites, ‘On the appointed day in early autumn, xxxxx You will call the people to a sacred assembly – the Festival of Trumpets – with loud blasts from a trumpet. You must do no regular work on that day. Instead, you are to present offerings to the LORD by fire.” (New Living Translation. Following quotes are from the same version.)

Never forget that Christ in the Prophets deny that God commanded animal sacrifices: In The Book of The Covenant which had 70 enabling commands, sacrifices were not commanded but regulated for voluntary sacrifices.  When God stopped Abraham at Mount Moriah the message was that God Provides: you don't owe God.  After the musical idolatry at Mount Sinai God regulated people now doomed to live among and quickly adopt the practices of the Canaanites.  Only draft-age males were required to attend.

Lev 23:23 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month,
        shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

Lev 23:25 Ye shall do no servile work therein:
        but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.

This does not speak of a regular "worship service."
Num. 10:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num. 10:2 Make thee two trumpets of silver;
        of a whole piece shalt thou make them:
        that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly,
        and for the journeying of the camps.

We have only two silver trumpets and only the sons of Aaron were authorized to blow them.

Num. 10:8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests,
        shall blow with the trumpets;
        and they shall be to you for an ordinance
        for ever throughout your generations.

This is the ONLY commanded ordinance which we find in 2 Chronicles 29.

"In use, someone, normally the rabbi, calls out the notes in the official sequence, one at a time.
        In response to each call the shofar blower plays the note.
Prior to the playing and in the middle of each set, there is a prayer to be read.
Overall, there are about 100 blasts in the service."

However, we have verse 7 to worry about.

Num. 10:7 But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.

John Calvin notes:
For this office, to which they were appointed, was no servile one, as that they should blow the trumpets at the command of others; but rather did God thus set them over public affairs,
        that the people might not tumultuously call their assemblies
        in the blindness and precipitation of passion, but rather that modesty, gravity,
        and moderation should be observed in them.
Verse 5. When ye blow an alarm] teruah, probably meaning short, broken, sharp tones, terminating with long ones, blown with both the trumpets at once. From the similarity in the words some suppose that the Hebrew teruah was similar to the Roman taratantara, or sound of their clarion.

We know how often in earthly affairs God is not regarded, but counsels are confidently discussed without reference to His word. He testified, therefore, by this employment of the priests, that all assemblies, except those in which He should preside, were accursed.

Profane nations also had their ceremonies, such as auguries, supplications, soothsayings, victims, Note 75

Must ye always rejoice, and go into my holy places continually, as they that keep a feast? and must ye go with a pipe, as those that rejoice into the mountain of the Lord, to the God of Israel Isaiah 30:29 LXX

"The ritual observances at the Hebrew and at a Canaanite sanctuary were so similar that to the mass of the people Jehovah worship and Baal worship were not separated by any well-marked line...

A sacrifice was a public ceremony of a township or clan... Then the crowds streamed into the sanctuary from all sides, dressed in their gayest attire, marching joyfully to the sound of music, and bearing with them not only the victims appointed for sacrifice, but store of bread and wine set forth the feast... Universal hilarity prevailed." (Gurney, O.R., Some Aspects of Hittite Religion, p. 37, Oxford University Press, 1977)

"Many of the Psalms are expressive of the parade dance, or dance procession, in a way which show it to have been the characteristic form of the festival (Psalms 30:12, 87:7, 149:3, 150:4; Is. 30:29) and that this was where many of the Psalms were used." ( W. O. E. Osterley, The Sacred Dance (Cambridge: N. P., 1923), p. 94)

because natural reason dictated that nothing could be engaged in successfully without Divine assistance; but God would have His people bound to Him in another way, so that, when called by the sound of the sacred trumpets as by a voice from heaven, they should assemble to holy and pious deliberations. Ruwa (h7321) roo-ah'; a prim. root; to mar (espec. by breaking); fig. to split the ears (with sound), i. e. shout (for alarm or joy): - blow an alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful noise, smart, shout (for joy), sound an alarm, triumph.

By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. Ps.41:11

In other spheres of life; so for calling assemblies of the people,

     Cicero Verres 4:
  They, having prepared and armed a body of men, come by night; they break in the doors of the temple; the keepers of the temple and the guardians hear them in time. A trumpet the signal of alarm well known to all the neighbourhood, is sounded; men come in from the country, Tlepolemus is turned out and put to fight; nor was anything missed out of the temple of Chrysas except one very diminutive image of brass. [97]  There is a temple of the mighty mother Cybele

Xenophon, Anabasis [18] Some of the Thynians, however, turned about in the darkness and hurled javelins at men who were running along past a burning house, throwing out of the darkness toward the light; and they wounded Hieronymus the Epitalian, a captain, and Theogenes the Locrian, also a captain; no one, however, was killed, but some men had clothes and baggage burned up. [19] Meanwhile, Seuthes came to their aid with seven horsemen of his front line and his Thracian trumpeter. And from the instant he learned of the trouble, through all the time that he was hurrying to the rescue, every moment his horn was kept sounding; the result was, that this also helped to inspire fear in the enemy. When he did arrive, he clasped their hands and said that he had supposed he should find many of them slain.

However, when the Qahal or synagogue was called by blowing the trumpet but they could not sound the alarm which was "vocal or instrumental rejoicing."

Num 10:7 But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.

H6951 qahal kaw-hawl From H6950 ; assemblage (usually concretely): assembly, company, congregation, multitude.

Qahal is the most common word for the synagogue which was for verbal instruction only. H7321 rua roo-ah' A primitive root; to mar (especially by breaking); figuratively to split the ears (with sound), that is, shout (for alarm or joy): blow an alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful noise, smart, shout (for joy), sound an alarm, triumph.

The prophecy of Judas as the Familiar Friend was that he would try to TRIUMPH OVER Jesus.

By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. Psalm 41: 11
The loud noise made by the two silver trumets would NEVER be called music.

Eusebio Tanicala:  Num. 10:10, “Blow the trumpets in times of gladness, too, sounding them at your annual festivals and at the beginning of each month to rejoice over your burnt offerings and peace offerings. The trumpets will remind the LORD your God of his covenant with you. I am the LORD your God.”
Num. 10:9 And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

Num. 10:10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

H8628 tâqa‛ taw-kah' A primitive root; to clatter, that is, slap (the hands together), clang (an instrument); by analogy to drive (a nail or tent pin, a dart, etc.); by implication to become bondsman (by handclasping):—blow ([a trumpet]), cast, clap, fasten, pitch [tent], smite, sound, strike, X suretiship, thrust.

How would you reconcile a MILITARY practice where David need to awaken his lyre so that he could awaken the dawn, with Christ in the prophets:

Hab. 2:19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood,
        Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver,
        and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
Hab. 2:20 But the LORD is in his holy temple:
        let all the earth keep silence before him

Again these are defined as making a loud, rasping NOISE which is never called MUSIC and these are not remotely God endorsing instrumental music for worship.

Eusebio Tanicala:
Psalm 81:1-3, “Sing praises to God, our strength. Sing to the God of Israel. Sing! Beat the tambourine. Play the sweet lyre and the harp. Sound the trumpet for a sacred feast when the moon is new, when the moon is full. For this is required by the laws of Israel; it is a law of the God of Jacob.” (This Psalm is assigned to Asaph, a prophet of God. He was an inspired writer. See also 147:7; 149:3; 150:3-5).

SEE OUR ARTICLE ON PSALM 81

A. the role of the Levitical Warrior musicians ordained by David.

Psalm 81:1 Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
Psalm 81: 2 Begin the music, strike the tambourine, play the melodious harp and lyre.

B. the role of the PRIESTS of Aaron.

Psalm 81: 3 Sound the ram's horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our Feast;
Psalm 81: 4 this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

If you look at the whole Psalm you will see that this is a mark of God's judgment: the sang God's praise but refused to obey His commandments and therefore went into captivity and death.

A: That which was invented by David:

Psalm 81: 1 Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
Psalm 81: 2 Begin the music, strike the tambourine, play the melodious harp and lyre.

B: that which was commanded by God for the festivals and new moons. We have abandoned that by being in Christ:

Psalm 81: 3 Sound the ram's horn at the New Moon
        and when the moon is full,
        on the day of our Feast;
Psalm 81: 4 this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

He established it as a statute for Joseph when he went out against Egypt, where we heard a language we did not understand. Psalm 81:5

No one could see any "musical" content in this command.

What was the Decree or ordinance of the God of Jacob?

Num. 10:8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests,
        shall blow with the trumpets;
        and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.

Num. 10:9 And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
Num. 10:10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months,
        ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings,
        and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings;
        that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. Psalm 81: 11

So I gave them up unto their own hearts lust: and they walked in their own counsels. Psalm 81: 12

But to assemble the Qhal or synagogue:

Num 10:7 But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow,
        but ye shall not sound an alarm.

You don't have a victory party or try to silence Christ during the synagogue!

By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy
        doth not triumph over me
. Psalm 41: 11

This the Judas ROLE but he did not succeed!
Eusebio Tanicala: 1 Chron.25:1-2, “David and the army commanders then appointed men from the families of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun to proclaim God’s messages to the accompaniment of harps, lyres, and cymbals …They worked under the direction of their father, Asaph, who proclaimed God’s messages by the king’s orders.”

The approved trumpets or rams's horns were not commanded by David and therefore the command of God did not include them or we would not see the CLEAR SEPARATION.

Then the Bible clearly proves that it was not a purely religious purpose but to give employment to the Levites who used loud musical noise to panic the enemy. Therefore, it was not the prophet or the priest who ordained musical performance but the civil and military:

David (secular king), together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Here is the list of the men who performed this service: 1 Chronicles 25:1NIV

All these men were under the supervision of their fathers for the music of the temple of the LORD, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman were under the supervision of the king. 1 Chronicles 25:6

Therefore, we have proof that the Instruments were commanded by David. Furthermore, the singers and intrumentalists made NOISE and not music in our sense. This was outside the Holy Place as a type of the church of Christ and OUTSIDE of the Most Holy Place where worship occurs. Not even in the vilest pagan temple could the singers, musicians and speakers enter into the holy precincts.

HOLD THIS IN YOUR MIND: God turned the national system over to worship the STARRY HOSTS. There is nothing in the worship of the starry host--even if God regulated it--that can be used to worship a Spirit God.  Secondly, the Levites were an old Egyptian cult.

When the elders FIRED God one of the MARKS of being beyond redemption and a sign of judgment was that Saul would meet a band of "prophesiers" from a Philistine High place, would prophesy with them and be turned (perverted) into another man.

1 Chron 25:1 MOREOVER David and the Commanders of the Army separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:

For, if you lay anything out on a bad wife and upon an enemy, that is an expense; that which is laid out on a deserving guest and a friend is gain; as that, which is expended upon sacred rites, is a profit to the wise man. By the blessing of the Gods, I have enough, with which to receive you with hospitality in my house. Eat, drink, indulge your tastes with me, and surfeit yourself with enjoyments; my house is at your service, myself likewise do I wish to be at your service. For, through the blessing of the Gods, I may say that, by reason of my wealth, I could have married a dowered wife of the best family; but I don't choose to introduce an everlasting female barker at me into my house.

But am I to take one home who is never to say this to me, "Buy me some wool, my dear, with which a soft and warm cloak may be made, and good winter under-clothes, that you mayn't catch cold this winter-weather;" such an expression as this you can never hear from a wife, but, before the cocks crow, she awakes me from my sleep, and says, "Give me some money, my dear, with which to make my mother a present on the Calend , give me some money to make preserves; give me something to give on the Quinquatrus to the sorceress [prae-cantrix] to the woman who interprets the dreams, to the prophetess, and to the female diviner; besides, 'tis impossible for me, in civility, not to fee the expiating woman; for long has the mattress-maker been grumbling, because she has received nothing; besides, the midwife found fault with me, that too little had been sent for her. What! arn't you going to send something to the nurse that brings up the young slaves? It's a shame if nothing's sent her; with what a brow she does look at me." H622 ’âsaph aw-saf' A primitive root; to gather for any purpose; hence to receive, take away, that is, remove (destroy, leave behind, put up, restore, etc.):--assemble, bring, consume, destroy, fetch, gather (in, together, up again), X generally, get (him), lose, put all together, receive, recover [another from leprosy], (be) rereward, X surely, take (away, into, up), X utterly, withdraw.

Maybe we should remember that David was the KING and the TEMPLE was the Capital of a Goyim or gentile nation. The animal sacrifices were NATIONAL and when the slaughter of INNOCENT LAMBS (as types of God) began, the loud NOISE was a signal that all CIVILIANS be outside of the WALLS--far removed from the later temple court.

Their RELIGION was Sabazianism and many of the names point directly to DIONYSUS worship which the Israelites brought from Egypt and NEVER CEASED to observe on a national basis.

Kings do not prescribe SPIRITUAL worship which took place OUTSIDE the gates where they held synagogue--even in the wilderness--to REST, read and rehearse the Word.  Loud trumpets could CALL ASSEMBLY but not the ALARM which included "making a joyful noise before the Lord" which was every nations' PANIC music.

Eusebio Tanicala: 2 Chron. 29:25-30, “King Hezekiah then stationed the Levites at the Temple of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres. He obeyed all the commands that the LORD had given to King David through Gad, the king’s seer, and the prophet Nathan. The Levites then took their positions around the Temple with the instruments of David, and the priests took their positions with the trumpets. Then Hezekiah ordered that the burnt offerings be placed on the altar. As the burnt offerings were presented, songs of praise to the LORD were begun, accompanied by the trumpets and other instruments of David, king of Israel. The entire assembly worshipped the LORD as the singers sang and the trumpets blew, until all the burnt offerings were finished. Then the king and everyone with him bowed down in worship. King Hezekiah and the officials ordered the Levites to praise the LORD with the psalms of David and Asaph the seer. So they offered joyous praise and bowed down in worship.”

It works a lot better if you don't lump all of the passages together.  The trumpets of God and the instruments of David made noise only during the BURNING process: this means HOLOCAUST which replaced burning humans.
All told, there were "four thousand (who) praised the Lord with the instruments" of music (I Chron. 23: 5), being divided into twenty-four courses, each consisting of one hundred sixty musicians. Most important of all, we note that "when the burnt-offering began, the song to the Lord also began with the trumpets, accompanied by the instruments" (II Chron. 29:27). "All the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpets sounded," we read, "until the burnt-offering was finished" (v. 28).

Then, "when they had made an end of offering" (v. 29) the people bowed to worship, and sang praises to the Lord without musical accompaniment.

    Since the Scripture expressly states that the musical instruments sounded "until the burnt-offering was finished"
    the congregational praise which followed must have been a capella.  [G.I.Williamson, (Notes on The Biblical
    Doctrine of Worship, Presbyterian Church of N.A.).]
Since Christ in the prophets deny that burnt offerings were offered, there is NO AUTHORITY FROM GOD.

A plague had descended on Jerusalem and Judah was threatened because the priest took the sacrificial system OUT from behind the quarantining walls.  Nehemiah proposed a contract with God to get everyone back to Jerusalem as a 100% political move.

They made all of the animal sacrifices for Judah and the officials WITHOUT instrumental noise.  As an after thought Hezekiah decided to make a RECONCILIATION sacrifice for Israel.  This word means that they were totally beyond redemption.

It was only during BURNING of the GOATS that the King's instrument players and the priests sounded the trumpets ordained by God.  Click for all of 2 Chronicles 29

Matthew Henry notes that: "Some think that goats were chosen for the sin-offering because, by the disagreeableness of their smell, the offensiveness of sin is represented: others think, because it was said that the demons which the heathens then worshipped often appeared to their worshippers in the form of goats, God therefore obliged his people to sacrifice goats, that they might never be tempted to sacrifice TO goats.

Of the He Goats which are:
8163.  saiyr, saw-eer´; or  sabir, saw-eer´; from 8175; shaggy; as noun, a he-goat; by analogy,
          a faun:--devil, goat, hairy, kid, rough, satyr
8175.  saar, saw-ar´; a primitive root; to storm; by implication, to shiver, i.e. fear:--be (horribly) afraid, fear,
          hurl as a storm, be tempestuous, come like (take away as with) a whirlwind.

Now, notice the difference between the PROPHET and the PRIESTLY cult.

Preparation of the Military for the HOLOCAUST

2Chr. 29:25 And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD [court]
        with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps,
                according to the commandment of David,
                and of Gad the king’s seer,

Preparation of the priests for the HOLOCAUST

  and Nathan the prophet:

for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.
Num. 10:8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests,
        shall blow with the trumpets;
        and they shall be to you for an ordinance
        for ever throughout your generations.
We saw this commandment of God for the TRUMPETS (only) in the text above.  Because of what actually happened you have to make this separation.

THE HOLDING OR AT REST PROVES THAT DAVID COMMANDED THE INSTRUMENTS.

2Chr. 29:26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David,

and the priests with the trumpets.  [Commanded by  Moses A prophet]

CONDUCTING THE HOLOCAUST PROVES THAT DAVID COMMANDED THE INSTRUMENTS

2Chr. 29:27 And Hezekiah commanded
        to offer the burnt offering upon the altar.
                And when the burnt offering began,

the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets,

and with the instruments ORDAINED by David king of Israel.

Could that be any clearer? You must interpret the preparation 29:25 wiht what actually happened. The instruments are ORDAINED by David who was KING and not a priest.

Psalm 81: 3 Sound the ram's horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our Feast;
Psalm 81: 4 this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
The kings had been turned over to worship the starry host.  Therefore, the instruments are used only during the BURNT OFFERING which the Prophet Jeremiah has God saying I DID NOT COMMAND THIS.

2Chr. 29:28 And all the congregation worshipped,
        and the singers sang,
        and the trumpeters sounded:
        and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

THIS WAS THE CIVIL-MILITARY-CLERGY THREAD RECORDED BY THE KING'S SCRIBES

However, Christ in all of the prophets insists that the ABANDONED Monarchy was not commanded and therefore nothing they did was commanded that did not lead them into captivity and death.

God's rejection of that which was imposed as part of the worship of the starry host, is ABSOLUTE: you cannot SING in the temple and you cannot let a man and his son have SEX in temple EVEN if they have a good mental attitude.
Is. 1:10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
          Rev. 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city,
          which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Is. 1:11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD:
         I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts;
         and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
Is. 1:12 When ye come to appear before me,
         who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
Is. 1:13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me;
        the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies,
        I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Is. 1:14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth:
        they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

Jer. 7:21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel;
        Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.
Jer. 7:22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them
        in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt,
        concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

Jer. 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying,
        Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people:
        and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
Jer. 7:24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear,
        but walked in the counsels and in the
imagination of their evil heart,
        and went backward, and not forward
Eusebio Tanicala: Neh.12:24-46, “These were the family leaders of the Levites ….. who stood opposite them during the ceremonies of praise and thanks-giving, one section responding to the other, just as commanded by David, the man of God. x x x x x During the dedication of the new wall of Jerusalem, the Levites throughout the land were asked to come to Jerusalem to assist in the ceremonies. They were to take part in the joyous occasion with their songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, lyres, and harps. x x x x x They used the musical instruments prescribed by David, the man of God. Ezra the scribe led this procession. x x x x x The two choirs that were giving thanks then proceeded to the Temple of God, where they took their places. So did I, together with the group of leaders who were with me. We went together with the trumpet-playing priests –Eliakim, Maaseiah, Minia-min, , , , and the singers . . . and Ezer. They played and sang loudly and clearly under the direction of Jezrahiah the choir director. x x x x The custom of having choir directors to lead the choirs in hymns of praise and thanks to God began long ago in the days of David and Asaph.”

Neh 12:40 So stood the two companies of them that gave thanks in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me:

SEE HOW GOD ALWAYS ATTRIBUTES THE TRUMPETS TO GOD BUT THE INSTRUMENTS TO DAVID. Neh 12:41 And the priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah,
with trumpets;

Neh 12:42 And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan,
        and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer.
        And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

Now, you will notice that Nehemiah leaps all of the way back to prove that it was DAVID who commanded the musical instruments.

Neh 12:46 For in the days of David and Asaph of old there were chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.

ON THE SABBATH WHEN THE SYNAGOGUE MET THIS WOULD PROFANE THE SABBATH

In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals. Neh 13:15

There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. Neh 13:16

Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? Neh 13:17

Chalal (h2490) khaw-lal'; a prim. root [comp. 2470]; prop. to bore, i. e. (by impl.) to wound, to dissolve; fig. to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one's word), to begin (as if by an "opening wedge"); denom. (from 2485) to play (the flute): - begin (* men began), defile, * break, defile, * eat (as common things), * first, * gather the grape thereof, * take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound.

Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath. Neh 13:18

And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. Neh 13:19

So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. Neh 13:20

Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath. Neh 13:21

And I commanded the Levites, that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy. Neh 13:22

Eusebio Tanicala:  2Chron.8:14 - This passage teaches that the services arranged by David, including the singers and musical instrument players, were permitted by God.
2Chr 8:14 And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service,
        and the Levites to their charges,
        to praise and minister before the priests,
        as the duty of every day required:
        the porters also by their courses at every gate:
        for so had David the man of God commanded.

Stephen spoke for Christ and not the king's Scribes:

God promised David a TENT (at a Jebusite high place)
But, Solomon built God a HOUSE
But, God does not live in houses built by human hands or by the works of human hands. Therefore, you are hearing the SOUNDS and horrible sights of the slaughter of innocent animals under the WORSHIP OF THE STARRY HOST.

The function of "music" is derived from mystery which means to "shut the mouth of the victim." You will remember that Jesus was led like a lamb before the slaughter and did not open his mouth.  Music was always know as "sacred violence."

David's PRAISE word meant to "make self vile." The function was not to praise God but to make such a horrible NOISE that the lambs would be DUMB and the slaughter priests could tolerate the screams of innocent animals, the stink of blood, dung and burning flesh. This praise word is the ROOT meaning of LUCIFER connected with the worship of the STARRY HOST.

2Chr 8:15 And they departed not from the commandment of the king
        unto the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.
2Chr 8:16 Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the LORD, and until it was finished. So the house of the LORD was perfected.
2Chr 8:17 Then went Solomon to Eziongeber, and to Eloth, at the sea side in the land of Edom.
2Chr 8:18 And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and took thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.
Civil war broke out after the death of Solomon and the Egyptians came to collect all of that stolen gold. The threat of the king proves that Solomon HAD enslaved God's people and sold whole cities into slavery.

Eusebio Tanicala:   From the above verses, it is clear that the use of mechanical instruments of music in the tabernacle and temple worship and even in open air religious celebrations, was commanded by God through Moses, Gad, Nathan, David and Asaph who were all seers or prophets.
"NO command of God was ever so ascribed to man. The use of the instruments of music in the Old Testament were of man, not of God." (Tract on music, Lipscomb)

"At the dedication of the later edifice, the priests blew the trumpets at the same time that the Levites sang and played upon instruments of music, so as 'to make one sound;' but it is evident that on that great occasion of rejoicing, what was aimed at was not musical harmony, but a powerful crash of jubilant sound. We are shut up to the conclusion that there was nothing in the tabernacle-worship, as ordered by Moses, which could be justly characterized as instrumental music." (George Girardeau, p. 29 - a Presbyterian).

"The statute, law, ordinance here mentioned manifestly relates especially to the feast of the passover, which, when it occurred at the new moon, was attended with the solemn blowing of trumpets, as the parallel passage shows: Ex. 13:8, 9, 14-16.

If this is not deemed satisfactory, let the statute, law or ordinance be pointed out which enforced the use of timbrels, harps and psalteries upon the Israelites in connection with their exodus from Egypt. Until that is done loose assertion will avail nothing." (Girardeau, George, Instrumental Music in Church Worship, p. 76)

Eusebio Tanicala: It is not true that instruments of music in Old Testament worship were prohibited. Our passages clearly prove these were used because of God’s commands or their use were instructed through prophets.

We have shown that the only thing commanded by God was the two silver trumpets: these were to be blown only by Priests of Aaron.  These were to send signals: in the case of 2 Chronicles 29 we saw that they were blown ONLY during the burnt offerings at which time the only people who worshipped would be on their face or bowing in utter silence.

In none of these cases were the people NOT of the tribe of Levi allowed to be present.  They would be outside the camp which is where the people who attended Synagogue were quarantined and where we are told that we have to go if we want to find Jesus for a true REST which silences all of the vocal or instrumental rejoicing.

Eusebio Tanicala:  Some, including several preachers in the Church of Christ, argue that David invented musical instruments and introduced them in the tabernacle worship out of his own vain imagination and pride This supposition cannot be supported by scriptures and history. Not supported by scholars. It is a position taken by ignorant preachers and writers, some teachers and preachers of churches of Christ included.

We know that there was NO instruments in the Tabernacle. David could not go to Gibeon out of mortal fear that he would be killed for his sins. God gave him a Jebusite or pagan high place to build HIS OWN tabernacle or tent to house the Ark of the Covenant.

Freemasons noting that there is no evidence of a Hebrew temple in Jerusalem:

The name of Solomon is made up of the three ancient Sun names: The Roman SOL, the Hindu OM, and the Chaldeo-Egyptian ON.

1.) The founders of Jerusalem were the Turanian Hurrians. The Bible calls them Jebusites. Manetho the Egyptian priest (300 BC.) called them Royal Shepherds, he also called them Royal Scythians and Phoenices  The city which they founded was called Solyma. Alexander the Great put the world "Iero" or "Hiero" (Holy) in front of the city's name and pronounced it "Hiero-solyma". The city was called Solyma or Hierosolyma for many years. Josephus Flavius the Hebrew historian (37-100 AD.) in his writings always uses the name Solyma instead of Jerusalem. In 70 AD. when the Roman Titus destroyed the Temple and demolishing the city, the soldiers were shouting "Hierosolyma est perdita!" meaning "Hierosolyma (Jerusalem) is destroyed!"

2.) In 1,015 BC. David purchased a small part of the city of Uru-Salem from Urukhi or Uriah, king of the Jebusites. The Bible says: "and the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day" (Judges 1:21). So, the Jebusites still dwelled Jerusalem in the 7th century AD. in the period when the Masoretic Bible was constructed. The Jebusites shared their Sun-God Temple with the Hebrews, who were worshipped Tammuz Moloch and other gods.This Temple was built on Mt .Moriah to the Jebusites' Sun-God "Nib-Utu" (Shamash)
