282 — The Economics of Ancient Prostitution

Diogenes of Babylon believed that the music of the flute was not conducive to love, and that background listening music was much better for that, while Plato and Plutarch complain that the flute kills conversation, because it is too loud for the guests to hear their own voice.

The psaltery a triangular instrument similar to a harp, produced gentler sound and would be more suitable for somewhat restrained and low-key events, as would be the kithara, an instrument similar to the lyre.

Both were traditional instruments played in a variety of events, public and private, and were often accompanied by song, either by the performer him/herself or a singer.  Aristotle attests that those musicians came from the lower social strata, and many of them, both men and women, were prostitutes hired to entertain guests in private parties.

A play of Anaxandrides was entitled Kitharistria while the masculine Kitharistes was the title of plays by Antiphanes and Menander, which might also refer to male sex workers. Antiphanes, Klearchos, Alexis, Nikon, Anaxippos, Diphilos and Sophilos wrote plays entitled (kithara player and singer), where the gender could be either masculine or feminine. Moreover there are numerous specific references to psaltery and kithara players employed as prostitute entertainers. Aeschines, for example, attests that Misgolas, one of the alleged lovers of Timarchos, had a reputation for being very fond of kithara boys, while Antiphanes and Alexis confirm this with jokes about Misgolas and his kithara boys.


Jesus was sent INTO but not OF the World to rescue a tiny band of Lost Spirits.  Those OF the World, the Kosmos, the Ecumenical or the kingdom of the Devil who is a ruler of the world and almost all of the Aborigines. Jesus said that He and His Disciples were from ABOVE but those from whom God hides are from BENEATH or Tartarus.  There is nothing musical in the messsage to the WAY (pattern) that is called a SECT.  The world is separated out by Apollyon's Locusts or the Muses as his 'musical worship Team." ALL colleges who prepare pulpit pastors for whom there is no role and no dole INDOCTRINATE and do the opposite of EDUCATE.  Faithful evangelists will neve be rich or popular.

Jesus said that God HIDES from the Wise or Sophists who speak their own words and are called by Jesus "the sons of the Devil", singers, instrument players or anything beyond TEACH that which has been taught.  We want to call deliberate sowers of discord Biblically Illiterate but Jesus had Paul say that THEY ARE LYING IN WAIT TO DECEIVE.

FIRST: As BEASTS or Therion they are New Style Musicians or Satyric Actors.

The BEAST is "a new style of music or Satyric (cappella) Drama with Christ's enemy of almost all pulpits.

Satyric Drama One of the three varieties of the Attic drama. Its origin may be traced back to Pratinas of Phlius (about B.C. 500). It is probable that, after settling in Athens, he adapted the old dithyramb with its chorus of Satyrs, which was customary in his native place, to the form of tragedy which had been recently invented in Athens. This new kind of drama met with so much approval and was so much developed by Pratinas himself as well as by his son Aristeas, by Choerilus, by Aeschylus, and the dramatists who succeeded him, that it became the custom to act a satyric drama after a set of three tragedies. The intensity of the preceding plays was thus relieved, while the chorus of Satyrs and Sileni, the companions of Dionysus, served to indicate the original connection between that divinity and the drama. The material for a satyric drama, like that for a tragedy, was taken from an epic or legendary story, and the action, which took place under an open sky, in a lonely wood, the haunt of the Satyrs, had generally an element of tragedy; but the characteristic solemnity and stateliness of tragedies was somewhat diminished, without in any way impairing the splendour of the tragic costume and the dignity of the heroes introduced. The amusing effect of the play did not depend so much on the action itself, as was the case in comedy, but rather on the relation of the chorus to that action.

Strab. 10.3.10   And on this account Plato, and even before his time the Pythagoreians, [Puthagoreioi] called philosophy music;1 and they say that the universe is constituted in accordance with harmony,2 assuming that every form of music is the work of the gods.

        And in this sense, also, the Muses are goddesses,
        and Apollo is leader of the Muses, and poetry as a whole is laudatory of the gods.

And by the same course of reasoning they also attribute to music the upbuilding of morals, believing that everything which tends to correct the mind is close to the gods.

When Paul wanted everyone to pray for peace and silence to prevent and outbreak of WRATH the word is Orge or Orgy.  Work (ergon) and a musical instrument (organon) are all ORGY words.

Now most of the Greeks assigned to Dionysus, Apollo, Hecate, the Muses, and above all to Demeter, everything of an orgiastic or Bacchic or choral nature, as well as the mystic element in initiations; and they give the name "Iacchus" not only to Dionysus but also to the leader-in-chief of the mysteries, who is the genius of Demeter. And branch-bearing, choral dancing, and initiations are common elements in the worship of these gods. As for the Muses and Apollo, the Muses preside over the choruses, whereas Apollo presides both over these and the rites of divination [mantikos  daimonion]. But all educated men, and especially the musicians, are ministers of the Muses; and both these and those who have to do with divination are ministers of Apollo; and the initiated and torch-bearers and hierophants, of Demeter; and the Sileni and Satyri and Bacchae, and also the Lenae and Thyiae and Mimallones and Naοdes and Nymphae and the beings called Tityri, of Dionysus.

"Philodemus considered it paradoxical that music should be regarded as veneration of the gods while musicians were paid for performing this so-called veneration. Again, Philodemus held as self deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy. He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines as a disturbance of the spirit.

He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this folly.

Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music; it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure, which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did.

"Women and girls from the different ranks of society were proud to enter the service of the gods as singers and musicians. The understanding of this service was universal: these singers constituted the 'harem of the gods'." (End of Quasten)

Delitzsch on Psalms: Moreover, we must take into consideration the facts that the compass of the tenor extends even into the soprano, that the singers were of different ages down to twenty years of age, and that Oriental, and more particularly even Jewish, song is fond of falsetto singing. We therefore adopt Perret- Gentil's rendering, chant avec voix de femmes, and still more readily Armand de Mestral's, en soprano; whereas Melissus' rendering, "upon musical instruments called Alamoth (the Germans would say, upon the virginal)," has nothing to commend it.

Chrysostom's Commentary on Galatians:

Chrysostom understood that the pagans used vocal or instrumental noise to stir up or create anxiety so that they could steal your food money. Christ outlawed this in Isaiah 55.  Christ outlawed BLASPHEMY in the modern context of saying that God commanded instrumental distractions when  He DID NOT.

George Cunningham Heritage Church of Christ Colossians Authorizes Instruments.

From the wilderness onward God only calls people out on their REST to to Rest, Read and Rehearse the Word of God.  The Church or synagogue quarantined the godly people FROM the worship of the starry host later at the temple: God had abandoned the Jacob-Cursed Levites and warned everyone NOT to enter into covenant with them or even attend their assemblies.  They were to Wait for Shiloh and the only spiritual Covenant made by God in Christ to Abraham.

Jesus endorsed the synagogue by standing up to read the TEXT in the Prophets by the Spirit OF Christ: quite decently and in order He SAT DOWN.

All of the epistles define the gathering in terms of a synagogue which always excluded sermonizing, singing or playing: this would exclude those trying to keep the godly people from hearing the Word of God.

The historic Church of Christ continued that until long after Calvin.  The text was the commanded resource and the text was SPOKEN by Jesus as God Breathed (spirit) into him without METRON which most often speaks of poetic or musical performance.

Singing as an ACT was imposed from the Syrian unwashed bishop in the year 373 and this split the east from the west churches and ended the unique Church of Christ who sent out poor preachers to found schools, teach the people the Bible and bring civilization to our ancestors.

The Catholics never sang congregationally with the organ: it signaled processions, intercessions and recessionals.
Only after Calvin was some songs radiclally REwritten and set to a simple meter to be sung in unison only.

George Cunningham is quite mistaken by finding any early use of instruments in the Lord's Day assembly.  He may be thinking of Clement of Alexander speaking of 'How to Conduct Ourselves at Feasts."

Taking Colossians 3 I want to show that there is no audible context in the command to SPEAK the Biblical Text.

Hdt. 2.51 [2] [3] Samothrace was formerly inhabited by those Pelasgians who came to live among the Athenians, and it is from them that the Samothracians take their rites. [4] The Athenians, then, were the first Greeks to make ithyphallic images of Hermes, and they did this because the Pelasgians taught them. The Pelasgians told a certain sacred tale about this, which is set forth in the Samothracian mysteries.
Since God turned primarily the tribe of Levi over to worship the starry host, those are the "gods" they wordhipped.  Apollo is a primary sun god and the Jews had been involved with Dionysus or Bacchus worship in Egypt.  The Levites were an old Infant Burning priesthood in Egypt.  The Jewish Encyclopedia notes that the Jews worshipped the Astrial Deities.

Within a few days after they celebrate another feast, not darkly but openly, dedicated to Bacchus, for they have a feast amongst them called Kradephoria, from carrying palm-trees, and Thyrsophoria, when they enter into the temple carrying thyrsi. What they do within I know not; but it is very probable that they perform the rites of Bacchus. First they have little trumpets, such as the Grecians used to have at their Bacchanalia to call upon their gods withal.

Others go before them playing upon harps, which they call Levites, whether so named from Lusius or Evius,--either word agrees with Bacchus. And I suppose that their Sabbaths have some relation to Bacchus; for even now many call the Bacchi by the name of Sabbi, and they make use of that word at the celebration of Bacchus's orgies. And this may be discovered out of Demosthenes and Menander. Nor would it be out of place, were any one to say that the name Sabbath was given to this feast from the agitation and excitement [enthousi-astikos ] which the priests of Bacchus display.

Stephen agrees that the Law was IMPOSED and the Levites abandoned because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai. The Spirit OF Christ throughout the prophets denies that God commanded anything connected with the Civil-Military-Clergy rulers (in a church near you).

Isaiah 28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

I didn't say that those willing to sow discord to IMPOSE musical performers into the decent mainstream were guilty: I just said that recorded history knows of no exception among religious musicians in recorded history.  This has to be Purpose Driven and intentional because it simply isn't possible to be a Disciple of Christ in the Word and believe that musical or any kind of hypocritic performance is not condemned. Those who are being led back to Babylon are OF the World or Cosmos and Jesus does not even PRAY for the World.  And God HIDES from the wise or Sophists: self-speakers, singers and instrument players.

THE book of the Law of Moses was imposed because of musical idolatry:  "Keeping" the Sabbath as REST outlawed any self-speak, singing, playing instruments and as the MARK, playing with one another. Rest means REST and never "a day of worship" except for the Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned Levites who had no inheritance.

After the Law, the Spirit OF Christ in the prophets did not write laws which were for lawless people. He defined the REST from the LAW of which "making music" is one of the most works-intensive acts: it is called soothsaying, sorcery or witchcraft because the hard work intends by definition to "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter.  Christ did not say Thou Shall not be a Hypocrite but Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites.  In the Ezekiel 33 example.

Jim Hackney's justification for imposing musical instruments defined as "machines for doing hard work" mostly in making war.

The Spirit OF Christ for the Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness ordained the Qahal, ekklesia or synagogue to quarantine the godly people from the Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned Levites involved in musical idolatry at mount Sinai. They got their job because they volunteered to execute 3,000 of their brethren.  The synagogue pattern continued without change to the time Jesus affirmed it:

        being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

Jesus "patterned" the synagogue as devoted only to Rest, Reading and Rehearsing the Word on the REST days when the Levites and most pagans held a "worship of the starry host" service and profaned the REST. The command is to "use one mind and one mouth to teach and learn that which is written for our learning and Comfort.  The elders are commanded to teach that which has been taught: both the synagogue and the Christian Assembly continued to READ the Word for Teaching and Comfort.

Paul didn't command men to LEAD a rote prayer. Lifting up holy palms was and is the symbol of men reading the Word of God.  The women had been "teachers over" men in their old paganism.  The command is that both are to be silent other than men like Jesus and Paul reading the assigned text.  If men obeyed the direct commands they would not have to worry about women wanting to get a degree and ALSO become professionals "seeing Godliness as a means of financial gain" or occupation.

Paul said that women cannot be part of a Musical Worship Team (a heresy) nor can she play instruments.

Instrumental Music in Worship

Qahal, ekklesia, synagogue or Church of Christ (the ROCK) is exclusively our COMFORT ZONE.  Those who intend to lade you with burdens to make "worship services" one of the most stressful days of the week are in fact ANTI-Christian.


Wouldn't God have had to issue a directive expressing HIS WILL to impose instruments? Because of the lifted prooftexts, the instrumental discorders CLAIM that they are obeying the Command principle. We contend that any minimal Disciple can understand that God uses musical machines to identify the "serpent" or in Christ's Words "the singing and harp playing prostitute in the garden of Eden" and the Babylon Mother of Harlots in these end times when John calls the self-speakers, singers, instrument players, craftsmen (any religious teknokrat) and grinders or prostitutes.  John calls them SORCERERS and says they WILL be cast alive into the Lake of Fire.  Christ defined the Music-Means-Burning prophetic warning in Isaiah 30.

Jesus said that the Kingdom is WITHIN and it does not come with observation meaning Religious Services. That is why Christ (the Rock) instituted A School of the Word of God

Sunday morning May 19th the following announcement was made to the congregation.

This church has been on a quest since the beginning of the year to become a church that is committed to reaching people who are FAR FROM God.

Jesus sent the Evangelists to those "far away" both spiritually and geographically.  Jesus had an excellent Mega Temple if He intended to use musical instruments which were the DEVICES by which Israel fell from grace at Mount Sinai without any redemption.  God picked Jesus to be the Messiah to come and seek and save the lost: these are the Lost Spirits IN the World but not OF the World. The pattern was to send out heralds (they never tamper with the message) into all of the world: those who gladly received the mystery were baptized or washed with water INTO the Word or into the School of Christ.  Their spirits are translated into a heavenly kingdom and Jesus commanded them NOT to go out where people claimed to be HIS kingdom.  The kingdom of Christ is within us and we become Disciples: adults are rarely anxious to enlist in a class on Finance where the professor uses a "musical teaching" or a silly picking and grinning "band."

THE COMMAND WAS FOR THE EVANGELIST TO GO SEEK THOSE FAR AWAY.

CHURCH is the congregation and they have accepted the MEANING of the Gospel:

Come to ME all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
And "Come learn of ME."

That PATTERN is for the elders (only) to teach that which HAS BEEN TAUGHT.

The Assembly is the prophesied SAFE HOUSE for the Disciples of Christ to come in until the storm blows over. Men who see godliness as a means of financial gain or occupation rather than service. have decided that Paul was wrong: they do not have to go out, suffer and die to be HONEST teachers.


The prophecy of Messiah was that He would SHUT DOWN the Jews "Covenant with Death and Hell" led by Scribes and Pharisees Jesus called HYPOCRITES.  In the Ezekiel 33 pattern Christ names self-speakers, singers and instrument players.  The prophecy was that the church would be an UMBRELLA or shelter for the blowing winds of wind blowers: it is described as a SAFE HOUSE like the synagogue where GODLY PEOPLE give attention (the only worship concept) to the Word and QUARANTINED from the always-pagan worship with superstitious and mind-blowing musical rituals used to pick the pockets of the poor.  Jesus paid it all: there is no DOLE for preachers who usurp the role of LEADER.

Jesus didn't command musical "worship" but A School were we REST and Come Learn of Me.
Jesus SPOKE one Hymn as far as we know once a year.

That's False Testimony and the discorded elders knew it. The MESSAGE of Jesus is to Cast out the musical minstrels more or less violently and to consigned the PIPERS to the marketplace. There, they piped searching out anyone who would submit to INITIATION by sexual molestation which made them "sing" or lament and dance.  ANY of the hypocritic or cunning craftsment INFILTRATORS is in direct opposition to the message of Jesus.


This fits the pattern: "we are JUST NOW looking for ways to change our APPROACH while teaching the same MESSAGE."  John defined the pattern in Revelation 17 warning about the rise of the Babylon Mother of Harlots.  SHE uses "lusted after fruits" (same as in Amos 8) as speakers, singers and instrument players.  John calls them SORCERERS who HAD deceived the whole world. Not to worry: the OUTING of the LOCUSTS or Muses in John's message is the MARK of the removal of the Lamps (seven spirits of Christ) and the signal that God is using the instrumental sounds to DRIVE Hise enemies into hell.  John says that they are being cast alive into the lake of fire.

The Church is built--edified or educated-on the Apostles and Prophets. The Spirit OF Christ  defined the Ekklesia-Synagogue both inclusively and exclusively.  Under the synagogue the godly people were to REST from what "church" wants to impose. They were to read or be taught the Word of God and Rehearse or meditate on it.

Both Jesus and Peter LIMITED the actions of the assembly to the "memory" the writers left "in part" and anyone who went BEYOND that was marked as a false teacher.

of the once-Christian schools that is spelled CENI. Jesus did NOT command any form of Music which would have violated the Spirit OF Christ defining the Church in the Wilderness.  On the contrary, Jesus spoke to the instrumental position by calling the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: in the Ezekiel 33 version and the Greek and Latin literature a HYPOCRITE is a rhetorician, singer or instrument players. Jim Hackney: First of all, WE are excited to announce the beginning of a couple of new outreach ministries.  In addition to the “That Was Me” program and English as a Second Language Classes that are already in place, next month marks the beginning of a Celebrate Recovery Ministry.  This fall we will begin offering an Upward Sports program which is a family friendly sporting program for youth where kids can have fun and learn about Jesus.  The Outreach Committee is considering a number of other plans as well, because we are committed to reaching the lost and those in need where they live, work, and play.

This is reading off the pages of the few others who have decided to DIVERT other people's congregation for their OWN agenda.  Using the performing or hypocritic arts and crafts to take other people's property is THE meaning of a heretic or sectarian.  The serpent was a musical enchanter(ess) and was the first Biblical example which is recorded on clay tablets 2,000 years old when Moses was born.

An elder would not take a survey to decide which way the wind was blowing before deciding how to BIND or LOOSE something radically anti biblical.  The small group of preachers all follow the same pattern by first usurping the unique role of elders by demoting them to being ONLY SHEPHERDS.  In the words of Rubel Shelly one of the early preachers partnering with the Christian Church declared that the elders were shepherds only of the Senior minister. Shelly says that the preacher is qualified by charisma, talent and training to be THE leader.  Therefore, the ploy of the preacher's


SURVEY  plants the response he wants.

Then, the preacher can say that he had nothing to do with it.  The goal is to imply that SO MANY want to do instrumental idolaters that the LEADERS (preacher) must comply with their CLAMOURINGS (instrumental and vocal noise).

Hackney KNOWS that when you have musical performers you ABSOLUTELY give all of your attention to the person, dress, mannerism, legs, instrument, performance style, lack of talent and the SOUND which Satan and Nimrod understood was a way to DISTORT the mind. Giving attendance to the WORD of Christ in the prophets and apostles is the ONLY meaning of worship.

The world is filled with INSTRUMENTAL churches. Whey lie, cheat and steal the church house of widows and meet the standards of TWO THINGS God hates:
He hates music in the holy places which is without redemption 
He hates people who SOW DISCORD while wearing the mask of a GOSPEL PREACHER.
Those who have called down the wrath of God on themselves acknowledge that "involvement" is about the same with or without instruments.

That's False Testimony: The "tradition" word intends to deceive: the Church in the wilderness outlawed "vocal or instrumental rejoicing" including self-speaking. That was to permit God to speak through the Word. That had been ordained in Exodus 18 before Israel fell into musical idolatry and were sentenced to "beyond Babylon." That is fulfilled when you fit the pattern of Revelation 17-18.  The first major division in 373 was over imposing self-composed hymns instead of reciting the Words of God.  To say that NOT using instruments is a TRADITION is A RACA concept suggesting that it was just a deadly VIRUS passed on by one's godly parents who BOUGHT the now-stolen church property. 


What he MEANS is that NOT using instruments is just YOUR tradition. Tell him that Christ the Rock began that tradition in the wilderness AFTER the nobility fell into musical idolatry.  The TRADITION word is called psychological violence so that YOU are intimidated and dare not let anyone know that YOU are a traditionalists.  That was part of the pattern of perfidity when the merry band of men DECIDED to restructure ALL churches of Christ. Although they followed the pattern in Mein Kampf, they did not have the intellectual power to make it work. These people pretend that WE have apostolic and YOU--common material--will "gamble away your kingdom."

God spoke through the PROPHETS by the Spirit OF Christ and the prophets made more certain by Jesus who guided the writers into all truth for all times.

It IS true that Jesus never said "Thou shalt NOT be a hypocrite."  The Levites were soothsayers or sorcerers and the speakers, singers and instrument players in Revelation 18 are called sorcerers and WILL BE cast alive into the lake of fire. It is true: John did not say 'thou shalt not be a sorcerer."

Because "vocal or instrumental rejoicing" and "self-speak" was outlawed for the Church in the Wilderness, and this never changed by the godly Jews, then you would need a COMMAND to violate the direct command of Christ (the Rock) for the Church in the wilderness.

The Levites were turned over to worship the starry host (missed Acts 7?) because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai and God sentenced them to captivity and death beyond Babylon meaning "no redemption."  God did not command the Civil-Military-Clergy complex and Christ called them robbers and parasite.  Sacrificial Instrument players were called Primary Parasites.  God never said, "thou shalt NOT be a parasite."  Furthermore, ALL of the New Testament is filled with DIRECT repudiation of religious instrument players who in polite society were said to be "drunk, perverted or just having fun--mocking."

If you remember Romans 14 Paul outlawed "doubtful disputations" which were common in the marketplace where people gathered to enjoy pagan religions.
Disputing (1261) (dialogismos from diα. “Disputing” implies a questioning mind and suggests an arrogant attitude by those who assume they’re always right. Arguing with others in the body of Christ is disruptive.
Dialogismos is used 11 times in the Septuagint (LXX) (Ps 40:5, 56:5, 92:5, 94:11, 139:2, 139:20, 146:4, Isa 59:7, Jer 4:14, Lam 3:60-61) Dialogismos often means the perverse, vain thinking which contemplates destruction (Ps. 94:11), and is turned against God (Jer. 4:14; Isa. 59:7) and against the godly (Ps. 56:5).

NIDNTT notes that... In the NT dialogizomai (related verb) and dialogismos are always used with a slightly depreciatory connotation. The thoughts of the human heart do not necessarily lead, as the Greeks thought, to a knowledge of the truth (cf. 1 Cor. 1:21-25), but are evil (Mk. 7:21; Matt. 15:19), full of doubt and suspicion (Mk. 2:6, 8; Lk. 5:22; 6:8), moved by the passing moment (Lk. 3:15), full of greed (Lk. 12:17; 20:14), always concerned with the superficial (Mk. 8:16f.; Matt. 16:7f.) and full of sly calculation (Matt. 11:25; Mk. 11:31).

In Romans 15 Paul defines what he calls synagogue as "gathering, assembling or coming together."  We know that the Church of Christ (the Rock) outlawed vocal or instrumental rejoicing or any self-speaking."  Paul has been led into all truth by the Resurrected Holy Spirit Christ and outlaws SELF-pleasure: both in the Latin and Greek this outlaws any of they hypocritic arts and crafts: rhetoric, singing, playing, drama.

This is identical to Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5 because the PSALLO word has NOT inherent "musical" meaning: it means pluck something with your fingers and NEVER with a guitar pick: it PRECLUDES a flute, fiddle, drums, organ or piano.

If Widow Jones helps to found, finance and support a congregation devoted to the WORD then SHE gets what she prefers unless bandits move in and drive her out into the cold.  NOT using instruments called a preference is another LIE.  The Disciples-Christian churches invented the PSALLO word to justify their already sowing of discord in 1886.  Why is it that the UNIVERSAL practice of NOT using instruments from the Church in the wilderness onward is JUST HER PREFERENCE.  How is it that WE get to USURP her Biblical preference so OUR bonded buddies can PERFORM and Mock Jesus?

Why is it that the universal scholarship proves that musical instruments have no Biblical basis, why would it now be a PREFERENCE for people to decide NOT to do what is condemned?

When you are a minimalists Disciple of Christ you don't need a LAW to prevent you from deliberately sowing discord, offending many and stealing the church house of widows and honest workers.  How is it that Israel engaged in Instrumental Idolatry at Mount Sinai and that was a sin without redemption, and the "scholars" claim that they cannot see ANYTHING?

Jim Hackney: Therefore, after much prayer and deliberation, WE  have decided together that the addition of an instrumental worship service would be beneficial to our quest to reach the lost. Beginning this fall, we plan to add a 3rd service on Sunday evenings that WILL  include instrumental worship but otherwise will be fundamentally the same as the morning services. The two Sunday morning services will continue to be a cappella.

While WE want to be considerate of feelings and comfort zones, WE should be much more interested in being obedient to God and considering what He desires.  “Am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God?  Or am I trying to please men?  If I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.” Gal.1:10.  Rather than asking what kind of worship WE are comfortable with, each of us should be asking what kind of worship is pleasing to God.
The ONLY worship concept ordained by the Spirit OF Christ in the Wilderness and in Jerusalem is to:

That was the PATTERN for worship practiced and commanded by Jesus, practiced and commanded by Paul, and practiced by the historic Church of Christ until after Constantine when SINGING as LITURGY was imposed in 373 by an unwashed bishop getting paid for the first time and which split the east and west churches.

The Pattern of Jesus and Paul was to give attendance to the READING of the Word for COMFORT and DOCTRINE.

If you PLAN to create DISCOMFORT then you are deliberately being an ANTI-Christ Wh commanded that we teach what HE commanded to be taught.

YOU have no right to upset people's COMFORT ZONES because they BOUGHT the place so they could come in and be A School of Christ.  If little-Jimmy-Jumpup wants to howl like a dog while you are learning to READ then we have PILLS or CELLS for Little Jimmy.  This is called Dissociation and the intention is to INDUCE mild schizophrenia so that you learn to HATE your "traditionalists" mother and are willing to be taken captiv


Jim Hackney: Further we are saddened that some of our leadership felt compelled to step down from their position during this process even though WE all agreed it was not a biblical issue.

Conrad L'Heureux demonstrated that the marzeah, or symposium (feast, gathering, banquet, assembly) of El that is found in the Rephaim Texts of Ugarit "must be a reflex in the divine world of the symposium celebrated by the members of the earthly marzeah of El...each guild apparently had a divine patron."42 The heavenly marzeah had participants called rp'm, which we also find in the earthly marzeah, e.g., "May Krt be greatly exalted among the rp'm of the earth...the rp'm constitute an aristocracy of which the Canaanite kings were a part."43 Moses, and the prophets following him were proclaimed as "Speakers for Yahweh," showing the people that "they are sent from the divine king, the suzerain of treaties, to reprove and to pronounce judgment upon Israel..."44

It is also possible to understand the term rp'm as "the assembly of the gods." The entire premise of Jacobsen's article "Primitive Democracy," is that the groups and assemblies on earth reflected what the gods had done in heaven.

This was called "prophesying" by those who "made self a prophet." David made his warrior musicians into PROPHESIERS which means ot make war or make sorcery and never make spirituall Word. The Israelites had been abandoned ot Dionysus or Bacchus "worship of the starry host" because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai. God heard that as a prayer and answered them.  Therefore, when you lift prooftexts out of the Monarchy, king, temple and sacrificial system you are restoring the Abomination of Desolation which featured Zeus and Dionysus (new wineskin god) in the Temple. This ultimately, like the word PSALM and PSALMOS is Egyptian-Greek and not faithful Israelites:

The word lelein is fundamentally an onomatopoetic one, meaning, as Thayer's Lexicon puts it, to go 'la-la'.  The Greeks shouted 'alala' both in worship and in war, and personified Alala as a deity (Pindar, Fr. 208 [78]; Plutarch 2.3496).  It was this same repetitive and meaningless syllabification in pagan prayers which Jesus described: 'for they think they shall be heard for their much speaking' (Matthew 6:7)

1Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues
        of men and of angels,               (condemned)
        and have not charity, (Grace)   (condemned)
        I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. [necessarily condemned]

This is not speaking as in the command to SPEAK one to another to teach and comfort. Sounding brass and tinkling cymbals here are identifying marks of people who have NO LOVE. Even if they COULD speak all of the languages in the world there would be no love. The command is to SPEAK or LOGOS the Word of Christ which is the opposite of rhetoric, singing or playing instruments. Speaking in the tongues of angels was IN FACT making music in tongues.  Tongues and Instruments INTEND to lull people to sleep with THE LOCUSTS OF REVELATION.

These were the inventors of astrology, and soothsaying, and divination, and those productions which are called oracles, and necromancy, and the art of magic, and whatever evil practices besides these men exercise, either openly or in secret. Now all these things are false of themselves, as the Erythraean Sibyl testifies:-

"Since all these things are erroneous,
Which foolish men search after day by day."
Moreover, these impure and wandering spirits, that they may throw all things into confusion,
and overspread the minds of men with errors,
interweave and mingle false things with true

For they themselves feigned that there are many heavenly beings, and one king of all, Jupiter; because there are many spirits of angels in heaven, and one Parent and Lord of all, God.

But they have concealed the truth under false names, and withdrawn it from sight.

New patterns of Christian worship appear to have been more difficult for women to adopt than men, as they had not known the dignified rite of Apollo or Zeus.  For the most part, their religious expression had been accompanied by extravagances of every sort.  We may quote Iamblichus again:

We affirm, accordingly, not only that the shoutings and choric songs are sacred to the gods, each and all of them, as being peculiarly their own, but likewise that there is a kindred relationship between them in their proper order . . . and the peculiar usages of Sabazian [Jewish] worship make ready for the Bacchic enthusiasm, the purifying of souls, and deliverances from old incriminations, their respective inspirations are, accordingly, different in every important particular.

Thou seemest to think that those who are enrapt by the Mother of the gods are males, for thou callest them, accordingly, 'Metrizontes' yet that is not true, for the 'Metrizontesae' are chiefly women (op cit., pp. 121-123 

Such women must learn that they were purified not through shouting but through the blood of Christ and through the washing of the water of the Word.

"Long before Israel's existence, we find in Akkadian tablets the word halhallatu for 'double clarinet,' and we have many ancient representations of this instruments... Extremely popular for SECULAR purposes, the clarinet was played at WEDDINGS, BANQUETS, and FUNERAL. At funerals it served as accompaniment to the customary WAILING women; this is the meaning of Matt. 9:23. The chief characteristics of the clarinet were: popularity, juxtaposition with hand drum and lyre, expression of extreme emotionalism, and symbolic meaning of FERTILITY and RESURRECTION." (Int. Std. Bible Dict., p. 472).
