Joel Chapter Three

Joel Chapter two shows that a charismatic outbreak would be the SIGN of Christ's Divinity. The girls would prophesy which means to "make music" and the old men would would "dream dreams" meaning to have a vision. However, this like speaking in tongues was SIGN. The result of the sign would be to convince the watchers to turn to the Lord or call upon the Lord. Philip's daughters are discounted as true PROPHETS when Agabus was used by God.

In Joel chapter 3 the HOLY people would replace the HOLY PROSTITUTES and there would be no more STRANGERS who are wandering minstrel musicians or shrine prostitutes. This is not unlike the prophecy that the Tyrians would not be in the new house of the Lord:

Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth? Isa 23:8

The harp-playing traders in Tyre were:

Kenaaniy (h3669) ken-ah-an-ee'; patrial from 3667; a Kenaanite or inhabitant of Kenaan; by impl. a pedlar (the Canaanites standing for their neighbors the Ishmaelites, who conducted mercantile caravans): - Canaanite, merchant,

Canaanites or Kenites gained access to the priesthood and while commended for not drinking wine made the temple into a den of thieves and a house of merchandise. Music was their most powerful weapon:

Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the traffickers in the house of the Lord of hosts. Zec.14:21

Joel Three Begins:

FOR, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, Joel 3:1

I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. Joel 3:2

And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink. Joel 3:3

Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head; Joel 3:4

Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things: Joel 3:5

The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border. Joel 3:6

The king/queen of Tyre is likened to Lucifer, the harp-playing prostitute in the garden of Eden. They were notorious in the use of singing and instrumental prostitutes in taking away the inheritance of the Jews and others. The Egyptian story of Wen Amun shows how they used beautiful singers to cheat you of their material goods.

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Eze.28:13

At that time Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, the span of a king's life. But at the end of these seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute: Is.23:15

"Take up a harp, walk through the city, O prostitute forgotten; play the harp well, sing many a song, so that you will be remembered." Is.23:16

At the end of seventy years, the LORD will deal with Tyre. She will return to her hire as a prostitute and will ply her trade with all the kingdoms on the face of the earth. Is.23:17

6. Therefore, brethren, because we know and have seen that from the beginning it was through woman that the adversary had access unto men, and to the end he will accomplish it by her-

for she is the weapon of Satan, and through her he fights against the champions.

Through her he makes music at every time, for she became as a harp for him from the first day.

For because of her the curse of the Law was established, and because of her the promise unto death was made. For with pangs she bears children and delivers them to death. Because of her the earth was cursed, that it should bring forth thorns and tares.

Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head: Joel 3:7

And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the Lord hath spoken it. Joel 3:8

Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Joel 3:9

Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. Joel 3:10

Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord. Joel 3:11

Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. Joel 3:12

The sickle is the instrument of peace to the peaceful. It is likened to a musical instrument. Therefore, it can make a noise to stamp out the wine to or it can steal your grapes to take your inheritance.

For the wicked the pruning hook is connected to THRUSTING IN THE SICKLE to reap Judgment. The pruning hook here is:

Isn't it amazing that the pruning hook is related to pruning the vine and a musical instrument:

Zamar (h2167) zaw-mar'; a prim. root [perh. ident. with 2168 through the idea of striking with the fingers]; prop. to touch the strings or parts of a musical instrument, i. e. play upon it; to make music, accompanied by the voice; hence to celebrate in song and music: - give praise, sing forth praises, psalms.

Several instruments are related to harvesting or making wine because the naked stompers probably originated some of the instruments to accompany themselves:

Zamar (h2168) zaw-mar'; a prim. root [comp. 2167, 5568, 6785]; to trim (a vine): - prune.

Zemar (h2170) zem-awr'; from a root corresp. to 2167; instrumental music: - musick.

Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?" Da.3:15

As the harp was the instrument of the "song of the prostitute" as the king of Tyre, music was always a powerful tool of seduction from the truth:

MY son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: Prov 5:1

That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge. Prov 5:2

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: Prov 5:3

Zuwr (h2114) zoor; a prim. root; to turn aside (espec. for lodging); hence to be a foreigner, strange, profane; spec. (act. part.) to commit adultery: - (come from) another (man. place), fanner, go away, (e-) strange (-r, thing, woman).

But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. Prov 5:4

Paul will say that "our weapons or instruments are not carnal or lifeless." Therefore, the WEAPON of the Christian is the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT or the Word of God.

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Heb.4:12

And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. Re.1:16

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Re.19:15

The general word for WEAPON also defines a MUSICAL INSTRUMENT

The Hebrew Word:

K^eliy (h3627) kel-ee'; from 3615 (to consume); something prepared, i. e. any apparatus (as an implement, utensil, dress, vessel or weapon): - armour ([-bearee]), artillery, bag, carriage, / furnish, furniture, instrument, jewel, that is made of, * one from another, that which pertaineth, pot, / psaltery, sack, stuff, thing, tool, vessel, ware, weapon, / whatsoever.

This word is often translated as a musical instrument:

Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Ps.33:2

And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. Eze.33:32

Woe to them: That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David; Am 6:5

Paul compared speaking in tongues in Corinth to LIFELESS INSTRUMENT.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 2Cor 10:3

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (animal or unregenerate), but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds (agruments); 2Cor 10:4

This word mistranslated as a weapon is almost identical to the musical instrument of false spiritual warfare in Amos:

Hoplon (g3696) hop'-lon; prob. from a prim. heipo , (to be busy about); an implement or utensil or tool (lit. or fig., espec. offensive for war): - armour, instrument, weapon

"the watchmen, who patrolled the streets for the repression of common crime, were charged with the additional duty of exorcizing the dreaded powers of the air and of darkness, which went about like roaring lions seeking what they might devour.

To accomplish this object the night watchman wielded spiritual weapons of two different sorts but of equal power; he range a bell, and he chanted a blessing." (Frazer, James George, Folk-Lore in the Old Testament, Macmillian, p. 423, 1923)

Paul said about the same thing in his first letter which apparently had little effect on Corinth's worship which did more harm than good:

If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will any one know what is played? 1Cor 14:7RSV

Lifeless is much like "carnal" but includes mechanical instruments of music:

Apsuchos (g895) ap'-soo-khos; from 1 (as a neg. particle) and 5590; lifeless, i.e. inanimate (mechanical): - without life.

However, for those who repudiate the WORDS of Christ in song and sermon there is still a SICKLE:

Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Joel 3:13

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. Joel 3:14

The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. Joel 3:15

At Mount Sinai as a result of musical idolatry, God turned the Israelites over to worship the starry host. This included the moon and the sun is shemesh or Shamash who was the sun god. There were five known Wandering Stars of planets worshiped. Saturn or Molech or under various names was worshiped by the Jews. When the SON truly shined on mankind the darkness was a sign that Jerusalem would cease to be a center for their worship. This, among other things, caused the clergy to have Stephen murdered.

The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. Joel 3:16

Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods (elohim) that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. Jeremiah 10:11

He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. Jeremiah 10:12

When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning (flashing sword) with the rain and brings out (to and fro) the wind (spirit) from his storehouses. Jeremiah 10:13

So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. Joel 3:17

PASS can mean "to cover in copulation."

The word HOLY is just one number removed from the HOLY WHORE or Sodomites who discovered that they could get on the PROGRAM at any pagan shrine or "church."

The STRANGERS are PROFESSIONAL SINGERS who are also available for further duty.

First, Holy is the Hebrew:

Qodesh (h6944) ko'-desh; from 6942; a sacred place or thing; rarely abstr. sanctity: - consecrated (thing), dedicated (thing), hallowed (thing), holiness, (* most) holy (* day, portion, thing), saint, sanctuary.

However, the Holy Whores as STRANGER MUSICIANS were known as qedishim or Qadesh.

Qadesh (h6945) kaw-dashe'; from 6942; a (quasi) sacred person, i. e. (techn.) a (male) devotee (by prostitution) to licentious idolatry: - sodomite, unclean.

No Israelite man or woman is to become a shrine prostitute. De.23:17

There were even male shrine prostitutes in the land; the people engaged in all the detestable practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites. 1K.14:24

He rid the land of the rest of the male shrine prostitutes who remained there even after the reign of his father Asa. 1K.22:46

Miriam as a prophetess of Egypt thought that she was a prophetess of God. However, leprosy convinced her otherwise. A "prophetess" in Egypt meant that she was a musical performer. She LED THE WOMEN out in dance and the sistrum and her name is associated with the bitter waters. The PLAY at Mount Sinai was under the bull called Apis and the cow called Hathor. These were images of real animals in Egypt who represented the Egyptian TRIAD of Osiris, Isis and Horus.

Most of the SINGERS were wandering minstrels or STRANGERS--even in Jerusalem--and their primary occupation was as a prostitute where the music helped seduce a customer even for an ugly whore.

A word with the same meaning is:

Shuwr (h7788) shoor; a prim. root; prop. to turn, i. e. travel about (as a harlot or a merchant): - go, sing. See also 7891

And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it. Ezek 7:21

Pollute is the Hebrew:

Chalal (h2490) khaw-lal'; a prim. root [comp. 2470]; prop. to bore, i. e. (by impl.) to wound, to dissolve; fig. to profane (a person, place or thing), to break (one's word), to begin (as if by an "opening wedge"); denom. (from 2485) to play (the flute): - begin (* men began), defile, * break, defile, * eat (as common things), * first, * gather the grape thereof, * take inheritance, pipe, player on instruments, pollute, (cast as) profane (self), prostitute, slay (slain), sorrow, stain, wound.

The minstrel, prostitute and singer were all STRANGERS or wanderers:

Shiyr (h7891) sheer; or (the orig. form) 7788 (1 Sam. 18:6), shoor; a prim. root [rather ident. with 7788 through the idea of strolling minstrelsy]; to sing: - behold [by mistake for 7788], sing (-er, - ing man, -ing woman).

As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee. Psa 87:7

h2490 is used interchangeably with h5059:

In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the maidens playing tambourines. Ps.68:25

The Musical Connection: Nagan (h5059( naw-gan'; a prim. root; prop. to thrum, i. e. beat a tune with the fingers; espec. to play on a stringed instrument; hence (gen.) to make music: - player on instruments, sing to the stringed instruments, melody, ministrel, play (-er, -ing..

The Prostitution Connection: Naga (h5060) naw-gah'; a prim. root; prop. to touch, i. e. lay the hand upon (for any purpose; euphem., to lie with a woman); by impl. to reach (fig. to arrive, acquire); violently, to strike (punish, defeat, destroy, etc.): - beat, (* be able to) bring (down), cast, come (nigh), draw near (nigh), get up, happen, join, near, plague, reach (up), smite, strike, touch.

The Tread out the Grapes Connection: Gath was a Philistine city and means:

Gath (h1660) gath; prob. from 5059 (in the sense of treading out grapes); a wine-press (or vat for holding the grapes in pressing them): - (wine-) press (fat).

In this passage, the PLAYERS are from CHALAL H2490. Therefore, they rejoice in Jerusalem but they are polluters.

The prophecy is that the STRANGERS or traveling musical groups will have no place in Jerusalem during the reign of Christ. Sure enough when the musical worship or mourning team wanted to perform for the "dead" Girl Jesus "cast them out more or less violently."

This is almost the totality of the experience under the Monarchy period. The problem was that not even the priests had a clue to the WORD.

Scripture makes it plain that while there are MANY Els or Elohim, JEHOVAH is the One and Only TRUE Elohim. Therefore, the fatal flaw right at the beginning is to make the ONE JEHOVAH just one of the Eloahs. The result of a multitute of gods produces a multitute of WORSHIP STYLES.

The very modern notion of the ELOHIM in creation as THREE, SEPARATED GOD PERSONS is the same POLYTHEISM which led to the destruction of the pagan Jews. The follow table shows the nature of the elohim in polytheism:

"It was only natural that fertility rites should include sexual myths that were acted out dramatically. The Ugaritic text just alluded to describes El, the head of the pantheon, copulating with two human women. This has echoes in Hosea and Ezekiel where God, as in the Canaanite literary tradition, is referred to as having a love affair with two women, symbolizing Judah and Israel. And he brought out the grove from the house of the Lord, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people. 2 Kings 23:6 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove. 2 Kings 23:7 Thus, the "holy whores" were both male and females who were theatrical performers who could seduce you into "an act of worship." Qadesh (h6945) kaw-dashe'; from 6942; a (quasi) sacred person, i. e. (techn.) a (male) devotee (by prostitution) to licentious idolatry: - sodomite, unclean. "Asherah's devotees considered her the chief wife of Yahweh, even as she was the wife of El, head of the Canaanite pantheon, for in the Bible El is identified with Yahweh. But Josiah eliminated the cult of Asherah, and official Judaism has since then left no place for other gods, which meant the elimination of every goddess. "The ancient Middle East made a place for homosexuality and bestiality in its myths and rites. In the Asherah (Easter) cult the qedeshim priests had a reputation for homosexual practices, even as the qedeshot priestesses for prostitution. Israel eventually banned both the qedeshim and qedeshot, while in Ugarit the qedeshim and kohanim were priestly guilds in equally good standing. Britannica Members Online Qedeshah (g6948) ked-ay-shaw'; fem. of 6945; a female devotee (i. e. prostitute): - harlot, whore.   Arnobius identifies another "mark" of the beast: "Catamitus is carried off to be a favourite and cup-bearer; and Fabius, that he may be called Jove's darling, is branded on the soft parts, and marked in the hinder. Greek GANYMEDES, Latin GANYMEDES, OR CATAMITUS, in Greek legend, the son of Tros (or Laomedon), king of Troy. Because of his unusual beauty, he was carried off either by the gods or by Zeus, disguised as an eagle, or, according to a Cretan account, by Minos, to serve as cupbearer. In compensation, Zeus gave Ganymede's father a stud of immortal horses (or a golden vine). From early times it was believed that Ganymede's kidnapper had a homosexual passion for him, hence the term catamite, derived from the popular Latin form of his name. He was later identified with the constellation Aquarius. This is the age of Aquarius.

Even the Feast of Tabernacles had been turned into a fertility ritual. These rituals used music and sexuality to force the host of elohim to give them food and children. However, most of ancient Judaism and all of paganism was devoted to the musical-sexual rituals. This repudiated God who, according to the Jewish women, didn't do as good a job as the Queen of Heaven in Egypt.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim. Joel 3:18

Aciyc (h6071) aw-sees'; from 6072; must or fresh grape-juice (as just trodden out): - juice, new (sweet) wine.

Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine (intoxicant_, because of the new wine (juice); for it is cut off from your mouth.Jl.1:5

I would lead thee, and bring thee into my mothers house, who would instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate. Song.8:2

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. Am.9:13

Acac (h6072) aw-sas'; a prim. root; to squeeze out juice; fig. to trample: - tread down.

Egypt which is classed with carnal Jerusalem and Sodom by John in Revelation, would fail to produce the fertility which came only from Jehovah:

Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. Joel 3:19

But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. Joel 3:20

For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the Lord dwelleth in Zion. Joel 3:21

All of the fertility rituals in Jerusalem were based on the view of the MANY ELOHIM. However, the Bible makes it clear that while there are many ELS or Elohim there is only ONE God.

But to us there is but one God,

> the Father,

of whom are all things, and we in him; and

> one Lord Jesus Christ,

by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 Cor 8:6

 

The Jews were looking for Dionysus or Bacchus as the god of the new wineskin full of bubbling wine. To that end, they tried to seduce Jesus by piping hoping that He would sing and dance. He did not so they killed Him.

As Servius tells us that the grand purpose of the Bacchic orgies "was the purification of souls,"and as in these orgies there was regularly the tearing asunder and the shedding of the blood of an animal,

in memory of the shedding of the life's blood of the great divinity commemorated in them, could this symbolical shedding of the blood of that divinity have no bearing on the "purification" from sin, these mystic rites were intended to effect: Resource

No wonder that it came at last to be firmly believed that the Messiah, on whom the hopes of the world depended, was Himself the "seed of the serpent"! This was manifestly the case in Greece; for the current story there came to be,

that the first Bacchus was brought forth in consequence of a connexion on the part of his mother with the father of the gods, in the form of a "speckled snake."*

* OVID, Metam. So deeply was the idea of "the seed of the serpent" being the great World-king imprinted (marked) on the Pagan mind, that when a man set up to be a god upon earth, it was held essential to establish his title to that character,

that he prove himself to be the "serpent's seed."

Thus, when Alexander the Great claimed divine honours, it is well known that his mother Olympias, declared that he was not sprung from King Philip, her husband, but from Jupiter, in the form of a serpent. In like manner, says the authoress of Rome in the 19th Century, the Roman emperor,

"Augustus, pretended that he was the son of Apollo, and that the god had assumed the form of a serpent for the purpose of giving him birth." Resource.

However, in his own TRIUMPH OVER his song would not be honoring Bacchus but He would play with the Zither of His mouth or God given harp. In imitation of Jesus Paul says that our sacrifice is the FRUIT OF THE LIPS and not TOOT of the flute meaning "to pollute or prostitute."

The rise of modern MUSICAL WORSHIP TEAMS going right into the Holy Place as a type of the church of Christ follows closely on the heels of a modern tritheistic sect. This goes beyond any historical definition in Christian history to define the godhead as a tribe or clan or famiy of three separated persons.

The proliferation of 20th century revivalism of the MULTITUDES OF ELOHIM rather than Jehovah- Saved or Jesus Christ brings along Sabbath worship, tithing, legalistic fasting, a Jewish priesthood and Levitical singers who NEVER entered into the type of the church of Christ until the end time when Saturn (666) as the SICKLE BEARER does some of the work of separating those with the MARK OF MUSIC from those with the MARK of the Word of Christ.
