Singing During The Lord's Supper
"Singing during the Lord's Supper destroys my worship in the spirit: I am looking for another church: I have talked to my elders about people beginning to sing or hum while I am trying to worsip in the spirit during the Lord's Supper. I hate to be driven away from my life-long church but I am looking for another place. What can I do?"See John Mark Hicks' vision of the Lord's Supper as a sacrificial meal where God eats while we burn the fat.
First, singing during the Lord's Supper may just be a problem with immaturity which is the product of too many years of doing church as "sermonizing, versifying and classifying" people to, as Jesus warned of the doctors of the law, "take away the keys to knowledge." They may or may not mature: most of the baby boomers are on the down slopes of their lives and show no sign of recovery.
Second, you have to be aware that part of the Willow Creek, Jubilee or Purpose Driven Cult is to drive away the older members so that they can rebuild on the ashes through the children. These are the ME generation, the baby boomers (infantile drummers). Generally they are Biblically illiterate whatever their educational level.
Rubel Shelly and John Mark Hicks with backup by Lynn Anderson have NEW GLASSES and therefore have A NEW VISION or revelation about how to DO the table off the Lord. Unfortunately, their data base comes out of the femininst and lesbian Methodist scholars and "pastors" trying to restore Sophia or ZOE worship.
Shellyism loves the Aztec "burning down the old structures" or "throwing away the old wineskins" so that they can build on the ashes. This "paradigm" has to be conscious that the Aztec Jubilee (their patternism) sacrificed up to 20,000 people before they "relit the fires" or filled up the new wineskins. So, don't look for help.
Here is the patternism promoted by Rubel Shelly and promulgated at Madison Church of Christ. Unfortunately, they were not cunning enough in applying the Purpose Driven Cult and ran off the "contributors and owners" before they had collected the new pagans. In short, they got caught "not staying awake and keeping their clothes with them." Hand clapping and singing during the Lord's Supper is disruptive, divisive and says more about our nature than we may want revealed.
In First Corinthians 11:5 Paul condemns the uncovered prophesying by the women. This was singing, clapping, dancing and more. However, beginning in 11:17 "when you come together" the worst features of the CARNAL Corinthians "did more harm than good."
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 1 Corinthians 11:17
Church was not a pagan worship center but a school of the Bible. Coming together is the Greek:
Sunerchomai (g4905) soon-er'-khom-ahee; from 4862 and 2064; to convene, depart in company with, associate with, or (spec.) cohabit (conjugally): - accompany, assemble (with), come (together), come (company, go) with, resort.
For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 1 Corinthians 11:18
"Come Together" is the word for SYNAGOGUE. The Synagogue meat ONCE A WEEK. The church assembled on the FIRST DAY of the week as a SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE and not like the pagan worship centers
Come toghether is: sunerchesthe - This verb is a form of the Greek sunerchomai. Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words (Vine's) says the root word means "'to come together' (sun, 'together,' erchomai, 'to come') . . . It is frequently used of 'coming together,' especially of the 'gathering' of a local church, 1 Cor. 11:17-18, 20, 33-34 . . ." (NT, p. 42).
For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. 1 Corinthians 11:19
Hairesis (g139) hah'ee-res-is; from 138; prop. a choice, i.e. (spec.) a party or (abstr.) disunion: - heresy [which is the Gr. word itself], sect.
A heretic in the sense of the Lord's Supper is one who sings their own sentimental praise songs and therefore spit in the face of Jesus whose DEATH they have assembled to remember and show forth. Making it a terminal sin, they do all in their power to keep others from worshiping "in the spirit" or human "mind" which is the only place God looks for our presence.
BUT there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 Pe.2:1
It might surprise you that men deliberately use STRIFE to upset your equilibrium in order to "Navigate" you away from Christ. Lynn Anderson speaks of it taking many years to get his church to be be able (computer just typed it "bable") to tolerate singing during the Lord's Supper
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Ga.5:20
When ye come together (synagogue) therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lords supper. 1 Corinthians 11:20
Therefore, the problem is that you have come together to eat the Lord's Supper and TARRY WITH HIM but the singers simply have a different agenda.
In the Shellyism Re-Imaging or Re-Visioning church and the TABLE, we note that about 70 to 85% of people are word related or can relate to God as LOGOS where Jesus is God's "logical argument." However, among the 15%-30% of right-brained (effeminate) people words don't work and they can only grasp symbols or images or idols, plays or songs. Therefore, while the "audience" is trying to think in terms of words of Jesus, the effeminate mind drifts off into songs and images. Therefore, they may be emotionally crippled rather than evil.
Speaking of the mystics, Karen Armstrong, in A History of God, showed how the new, gender-variant gods are to be worshipped:
"This God is to be approached through the imagination and can be seen as a kind of art form, akin to the other great artistic symbols that have expressed the ineffable mystery, beauty and the value of life.
Mystics have used music, dancing, poetry, fiction, stories, painting, sculpture and architecture to express this Reality which goes beyond concepts." (P. 396)
Lynn Anderson:
The mind-set of the times threatens to strip our faith of symbols, rituals, dramas, mystery, poetry, and story,
which say about life and God what logic and reason and rationalism can never say. See Volkism
While they may think of church as a pagan worship center, the Bible and literacy knows that church is synagogue or school of the Bible
"Jingling, banging, and rattling accompanied heathen cults, and the frenzying shawms of a dozen ecstatic cries intoxicated the masses. Amid this euphoric farewell feast of a dying civilization, the voices of nonconformists were emerging from places of Jewish and early Christian worship; Philo of Alexandria had already emphasized the ethical qualities of music,
spurning the 'effeminate' art of his Gentile surroundings.
Similarly, early synagogue song intentionally foregoes artistic perfection, renounces the playing of instruments,
and attaches itself entirely to 'the word'&emdash;the TEXT of the Bible" (Encyclopaedia Judaica, 1971 ed., s.v. "Music")
For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. 1 Corinthians 11:21
The so called "love feast" was a secular activity among the Greeks and the STILL CARNAL Corinthians thought that the Lord's Supper was such a "table."
Therefore, love was left at home and the rich consumed all of the food before the poor arrived still hungry. However, the Lord's Supper is a "pinched off" or SOP form of memorial where the act of breaking is symbolic of DEATH and is not a celebration of one's belly button. Therefore, since they didn't assemble for the Lord's Table they didn't comprehend the Lord's Table and paul spat out the statement:
What have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. 1 Corinthians 11:22
Paul might say: "Don't you have the rest of the week to sing and hum and clap. Do you despise the Lord and the members of the church?" Of course you do. The idea of a common meal would automatically lead to abuses. The history of the Agapae when followed by Christians led to unspeakable abuses about the sources of the "food." The Lord's Supper was modeled in the context of the Passover which was a symbolic meal and not a festive "sacrificial" meal:
For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread: 1 Corinthians 11:23
Paul didn't receive the AGAPAE or SACRIFICIAL meal or even COMMON meal from the Lord: these had existed for centuries. Therefore, the LORD instituted an UNCOMMON supper.
Remembrance of Me has no role for singing during the Lord's Supper
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Luke 22:19
A COMMON meal or the Agapae was never in REMEMBRANCE of the flesh and blood of the Lord: One does not eat the FLESH of Jesus Christ as the pagans believed they were EATING and DRINKING the gods.
Rubel Shelly: "The eating and drinking of this text is about the daily appropriation of Christ as one's life and nourishment. Eating and drinking in this passage constitute a powerful metaphor for the nature of faith."
"In Egypt it was "eat, drink and be merry" as the mourners are eating drinking, watching the dancers and listening to the song of the harpist, who addresses the dead man himself:
"Celebrate the beautiful day! Set forth ointments and fine oil for your nostrils and wreaths and lotus blossoms for the body of your dear sister, who is seated at your side.
Let there be singing and music before you cast everything sad behind you and think only of joy." (Quasten, p. 154)
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. Luke 22:20
But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. Luke 22:21
You cannot REMBER while JUBILATING, making a fool of yourself and MOCKING Jesus in His DEATH.
Anamnesis (g364) an-am'-nay-sis; from 363; recollection: - remembrance (again).
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 1Co.11:24
I challenge anyone to eat the Supper in REMEMBRANCE of Jesus while watching or listening to people sing their own "inspired" scripture to replace "that which is written."
Anamimnesko (g363) an-am-im-nace'-ko; from 303 and 3403; to remind; reflex. to recollect: - call to mind, (bring to, call to, put in), remember (-brance).
But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; Heb.10:32
Therefore, to sing or hum or refuse to "wait" for others is a show of contempt. Fittingly, Judas whos "bag" was "for carrying the mouthpieces of wind instruments" and who prophetically would try to triumph over Jesus with music and singing was DISMISSED from the meal.
After Passover they hymned specific Psalms.
Consistent with this, while Jesus was being mocked and put to death it would have been with the triumph over songs. Would those who sing their own "music" while remembering the death of Christ and showing forth or preaching it ALSO have mocked Jesus while He was dying for their sins?
Yes, the flute is derived from a word similar to "halal" and includes play the flute, pollute and prostitute. While a male phallic symbol, if you will look closely you will see the vulva attached.
In Matthew we are told that they sang a hymn but AFTER the institution of the Lord's Supper and no singing during the Lord's Supper as a dismissal. And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. Matthew 26:30
We know from the observation of the Passover that they sang the hallel songs. When the fifth cup was used they sang Psalm 137 which is testimony that Israel hung up their harps outside of Canaan.
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 1 Corinthians 11:25
The New Testament life was purchased by the blood of Jesus. The cup (symbolic of the contents) was the New Testament life principle.
Being inspired, Paul knew that someone would confuse the sign with the reality and told the Corinthians to eat bread and juice and not flesh and blood:
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup,
ye do shew the Lords death till he come. 1 Corinthians 11:26
To show forth the death is to preach the death. It does not mean to "celebrate" Easter. Jesus paid the price in His death and therefore that is what HE commanded that we PREACH individually. Anyone who sings or hums or claps when you are showing forth DEATH is a Judas figure whether they are aware of it or not.
Show forth is the Greek:
Kataggello (g2605) kat-ang-gel'-lo; from 2596 and the base of 32; to proclaim, promulgate: - declare, preach, shew, speak of, teach.
Because Paul said nothing about "singing idle songs" but commanded TEACHING with the REVEALED WORD there simply would not have been an occasion for singing a secular song before or after the supper. However, in keeping with the model of the Passover and the "approved example" of Lord Jesus Christ, they would have had the COMMON DECENCY to wait until the showing forth or teaching stage was completed.
Perhaps only a few understood the nature of the literal body of Christ which He gave in death so that we do not have to die. Paul said:
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 1 Corinthians 11:27
Vines Expository Dictionary: B-1, Adjective, 370, anaxios
Topic: Unworthily, Unworthy
A-1, Adverb, 371, anaxios
is used in 1 Cor. 11:27, of partaking of the Lord's Supper "unworthly," i.e., treating it as a common meal, the bread and cup as common things, not apprehending their solemn symbolic import. In the best texts the word is not found in ver. 29 (see RV).
a, negative, n, euphonic, axios, "worthy," is used in 1 Cor. 6:2. In modern Greek it signifies "incapable."
Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 1 Cor 6:2
Note: In Acts 13:46, "unworthy" represents the adjective axios, preceeded by the negative ouk.
Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. Ac 13:46
Vine: Ou (g3756) oo; also (before a vowel) 3765 ook; and (before an aspirate) 3780 ookh; a prim. word; the absol. neg. [comp. 3361] adv.; no or not: - / long, nay, neither, never, no (* man), none, [can- ] not, / nothing, / special, un ([-worthy]), when, / without, / yet but. See also 3364, 3372.
Vine: Acios (g514) ax'-ee-os; prob. from 71; deserving, comparable or suitable (as if drawing praise): - due reward, meet, [un-] worthy.
Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 1Co.12:2
Unworthily does not mean that we must be worthy. Rather, unworthy means irreverently. Like the Passover where the search for the house for leaven was conducted in total silence, those taking the Lord's Supper must be quiet to search their own heart for leaven. Because you cannot think about two things at the same time, Paul made the Supper a personal time of reverence -- noise is never an aid but a burden. This denies the notion that one should eat the Lord's Supper as a common meal and have a musical Jubilee. See John Mark Hicks Judaizing version.
Anachios (g371) an-ax-ee'-oce; adv. from 370; irreverently: - unworthily.
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship Godacceptably with reverence and awe, Hebrew 12:28
Shaken is:
Saleuo (g4531) sal-yoo'-o; from 4535; to waver, i.e. agitate, rock, topple or (by impl.) destroy; fig. to disturb, incite: - move, shake (together), which can [-not] be shaken, stir up.
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 2Th.2:2
Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. Heb.12:26
And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made [transgress the law], that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Heb.12:27
Reverence and Awe in Strong's is:
Aidos (g127) ahee-doce'; perh. from 1 (as a neg. particle) and 1492 (through the idea of downcast eyes); bashfulness, i.e. (towards men), modesty or (towards God) awe: - reverence, shamefacedness.
Acceptably is:
Euarestos (g2102) yoo-ar-es'-toce; adv. from 2101; quite agreeably: - acceptably, / please well.
And be not conformed to this world: but ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. Ro.12:2
What is the danger of approaching God irreverently?
For our God is a consuming fire. Heb 12:29
Can you sing or even sing and clap or play "elevator music" and still have DOWNCAST EYES?
But let a man examine (test) himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 1 Corinthians 11:28
Examine yourselves, whether ye be IN THE FAITH; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is IN you, except ye be REPROBATES? 2Co.13:5
But let every man PROVE his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in HIMSELF ALONE, and NOT in another. Ga.6:4
Those who are singing are not eating the Lord's Supper. They may think that this means "I go mine, ate mine, swallowed mine, now I can sing." However, they have no reverence, don't know how to blush and would never have tarried with Jesus because they will not tarry with those who they HAVE seen.
The Theological Lexicon of the New Testament says the root word "means 'discern' . . . Paul applies the word with a religious meaning, to Christians themselves: 'Examine yourselves.' . . . 1 Cor 11:28 before taking communion, people must examine their conscience in order not to partake unworthily ([anaxios]);
they must discern the true nature of this sacred meal,
which is entirely different from an ordinary repast" (vol. 1, p. 356).
Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper as a quiet, family meal of bread and the fruit of the vine. This was not "crumbled off" bread or sop dipped in bitter herbs. Part of the Passoveras the context of the institution of the Lord's Supper was a search of the house for leaven:
Edersheim notes of the Passover:
Then the head of the house was to search with a lighted candle all places where leaven was usually kept, and to put what of it he found in the house in a safe place, whence no portion could be carried away by any accident. Before doing this, he prayed: 'Blessed art Thou, Jehovah, our God, King of the Universe, who hast sanctified us by Thy commandments, and commanded us to remove the leaven.'
And after it he said: 'All the leaven that is in my possession, that which I have seen and that which I have not seen, be it null, be it accounted as the dust of the earth.'
The search itself was to be accomplished in perfect silence and with a lighted candle. To this search the apostle may have referred in the admonition to 'purge out the old leaven' (1 Cor 5:7). Jewish tradition sees a reference to this search with candles in Zephaniah 1:12: 'And it shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with candles.' If the leaven had not been removed on the evening of the 13th, it might still be done on the forenoon of the 14th of Nisan. The question what substances constituted leaven was thus solved. The unleavened cakes, which were to be the only bread used during the feast, might be made of these five kinds of grain--wheat, barley, spelt, oats, and rye--the cakes being prepared before fermentation had begun. Anything prepared of these five kinds of grain--but only of these--would come within range of the term 'leaven,' that is, if kneaded with water, but not if made with any other fluid, such as fruit-liquor, etc.
Corinth's assembly was "doing more harm than good" (1 Corinthians 11:17). Among other things, the two forms of worshipers existed: by those who, in silence, searched out the leaven in their heart, and by those who saw the supper as a celebration. A component of the new wineskin dogma is that worship means feeling the exhilaration. This is a form of intoxication, perhaps on pure ignorance.
Those who would sing their own praise songs would sing and make music while Jesus was dying on the croses.
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily (without reverence in introspection), eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning (separate thoroughly, discriminate) the Lords body. 1 Corinthians 11:29
Discerning means:
Diakrino (g1252) dee-ak-ree'-no; from 1223 and 2919; to separate thoroughly, i.e. (lit. and reflex.) to withdraw from, or (by impl.) oppose; fig. to discriminate (by impl. decide), or (reflex.) hesitate: - contend, make (to) differ (-ence), discern, doubt, judge, be partial, stagger, waver.
Some are going to say that in REMEMBERING the Death you DISCERN the CHURCH as body: They will miss no opportunity to keep your eyes off Christ.
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;Heb.2:14
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1Pet 4:11
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 1Pet 4:12
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christssufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1Pet 4:13
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 1Pet 4:14
Paul knew the word EKKLESIA but did not speak of the collection of people:
Soma (g4983) so'-mah; from 4982; the body (as a sound whole), used in a very wide application, lit. or fig.: - bodily, body, slave.
However, I think that it means to recognize the "body which is broken" for you. That is not the "fellowship"unless it is a body broken by the Community Crunch Monsters. These people want to make a CELEBRATION involving everyone out of everything. However, as related to the Passover, this has to be a personal thing and I cannot SHOW FORTH or DISCERN if someone is running their mouth.
I don't see this as COMMUNION with the noisy crowd and in fact Paul made an effort to show just what we are COMMUNING WITH.
MOREOVER, brethren, I would not that ye should be IGNORANT, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 1 Cor 10:1
And were all BAPTIZED unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 1 Cor 10: 2
And did all eat the same SPIRITUAL MEAT; 1 Cor 10: 3
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that SPIRITUAL ROCK that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 1 Cor 10: 4
But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 1 Cor 10:5
Now these things were our EXAMPLES, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 1 Cor 10: 6
An Example is a PATTERN. The FOOD FESTIVAL with music at Mount Sinai is a PATTERN of WHAT NOT to do in the Lord's Supper:
Tupos (g5179) too'-pos; from 5180; a die (as struck), i.e. (by impl.) a STAMP or scar; by anal. a shape, i.e. a statue, (fig.) style or resemblance; spec. a sampler ("type"), i.e. a MODEL (for IMITATION) or instance (for warning): - en- (ex-) ample, fashion, figure, form, manner, pattern, print.
Who serve unto the EXAMPLE and SHADOW of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the PATTERN shewed to thee in the mount. Heb.8:5
Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 1 Cor 10: 7
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 1 Cor 10: 8
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 1 Cor 10: 9
Ophis (g3789) of'-is; prob. from 3700 (through the idea of sharpness of vision); a snake, fig. (as a type of sly cunning) an artful malicious person, espec. Satan: - serpent.
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. Mt 23:31
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Mt 23:32
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Mt.23:33
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: Mt 23:34
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 1 Cor 10: 10
Apollumi (g622) ap-ol'-loo-mee; from 575 and the base of 3639; to destroy fully (reflex. to perish, or lose), lit. or fig.: - destroy, die, lose, mar, perish.
I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. Ju.1:5
Woe unto them for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. Ju.1:11
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. Rev 9:11
Apolluon (g623) ap-ol-loo'-ohn; act. part. of 622; a destroyer (i.e. Satan): - Apollyon.
Apollonia (g624) ap-ol-lo-nee'-ah; from the pagan diety Apollon , (i.e. the S.U.N.; from 622); Apollonia, a place in Macedonia: - Apollonia
Apollumi (g622) ap-ol'-loo-mee; from 575 and the base of 3639; to destroy fully (reflex. to perish, or lose), lit. or fig.: - destroy, die, lose, mar, perish.
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 1 Cor 10: 11
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 1 Cor 10: 12
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Cor 10: 13
Wherefore, my dearly beloved, FLEE from IDOLATRY. 1 Cor 10: 14
I speak AS TO WISE men; JUDGE ye what I say. 1 Cor 10: 15
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the COMMUNION of the BLOOD of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the BODY of Christ? 1 Cor 10:16
Koinonia (g2842) koy-nohn-ee'-ah; from 2844; partnership, i.e. (lit.) PARTICIPATION, or (social) intercourse, or (pecuniary) benefaction: - (to) communicate (-ation), communion, (contri-) distribution, fellowship.
But if we WALK in the LIGHT, as he is in the light, we have FELLOWSHIP one with another, and the BLOOD of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1Jn.1:7
The Law animal sacrifices were IMPOSED when the Elders FIRED God as King and therefore REPUDIATED Jesus Christ as the ROCK Who had led them. The MUSIC was "like the nation's" for worship "like the nations." It was, therefore, MOCKING or EXORCIZING.
AS BELIEVERS, WE ARE PART OF THE BODY OF CHRIST; HIS CHURCH; HIS KINGDOM. If we PARTAKE and COMMUNE then we SUFFER with Him.
For WE being many are ONE BREAD, and one BODY: for we are all PARTAKERS of that ONE BREAD. 1 Cor 10: 17
Behold Israel AFTER the FLESH: are not they which eat of the sacrifices PARTAKERS of the altar? 1 Cor 10: 18
Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines: For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not withmeats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. Heb 13:9
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by CEREMONIAL FOODS, which are of NO VALUE to those who eat them. Heb 13:9NIV
WE have an altar, whereof THEY have NO RIGHT to eat which SERVE the TABERNACLE. Heb.13:10
For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to ANOTHER TRIBE, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. Heb.7:13
What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? 1 Cor 10: 19
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 1 Cor 10: 20
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lords table, and of the table of devils. 1 Cor 10: 21
Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? 1 Cor 10: 22
In discussing Paul's warning against demons, Lenski wrote--
"All altars, all sacrifices, and all worship that are not intended to serve the true God are thus actually though not necessarily consciously and intentionally devoted to these demons. As these wicked angels, under the leadership of Satan, rule the entire evil world, so in particular they are the originators of the spiritual darkness of which idolatry is the most terrible evidence. Hence all idol sacrifices, whatever the pagan ideas concerning them may be, are really sacrifices unto devils." (Lenski, on 1 Cor. p. 415).
Of the word demon: "It is used in the Septuagint, Deut. 32:17, to translate the Hebrew word which seems, originally, to have meant a supernatural being inferior to the gods proper, applied among the Assyrians to the bulldeities which guarded the entrances to temples and palaces." (Vincent, p. 244)
In the temple in Israel, they may have been pedestals or asherah poles (columns) upon which the bull deity stood.
Because the Corinthians were not worshiping in the sense of GIVING HEED to the sacrifice of Christ lost connection with the HEAD OR VINE and just died.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 1 Corinthians 11:30.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 1 Corinthians 11:31
The Passover task was to examine the house for leaven. In a spiritual sense, the Lord's Supper is a time where we search or examine our own heart for sin. Only when we recognize sin and "cast it out of the house" can we eat the Supper without just making fun of or mocking Lord Jesus.
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 1 Corinthians 11:32
Those who decide to sing while you are still eating have said that they have no sin. There is not time for WEAPING and repenting at the cross of Christ. In Paul's words, the Corinthians 'already reigned' and therefore could not judge themselves. Or perhaps, this is like our early lives when the task was to wander through the cemetary during the night. They call it "whistling through the cemetary" with that ghost of raised hairs up the back of your neck.
Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. 1 Corinthians 11:33
We tarry with the Lord only when we tarry one with another. Assuredly, one who begins to sing their own songs in the middle of the process would have done so while Jesus was slowly dying before the cross. Anyone who decides to sing and clap would mock Jesus on the cross. They may not be evil but just terminally ignorant and not able to TARRY.
Remember, the FALSE PROPHETS can speak nothing but FALSE DOCTRINE. Therefore, when they want to turn the supper into a victory celebration rather than a dying to self while tarrying with Jesus during His DEATH, they are either already perfect or beyond tarrying.
The SHOWING FORTH is DEATH.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Heb 2:9
For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Heb 2:10

Our Lord's Agony. Here is the BODY we are to WATCH with:
Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. Matthew 26:38
Can you feature a Christian Disciple singing or clapping while Jesus was suffering in prayer?
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What,
could ye not watch with me one hour? Matthew 26:40
Edersheim speaks to this when he wrote:
"Then it was that the Lord's great heaviness and loneliness came upon Him; when all around seemed to give way, as if crushed under the terrible burden about to be lifted;
when His disciples could not watch with Him even one hour;
when in the agony of His soul 'His sweat was as it were great drops of blood, falling down to the ground'; and when He 'prayed, saying: O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt.' But 'the cup which the Father' had given Him, He drank to the bitter dregs; and 'when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in that He feared; though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; and being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him' (Heb 5:7-9).
Thus the 'Lamb without blemish and without spot, who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world' (1 Peter 1:20)--and, indeed, 'slain from the foundation of the world' (Rev 13:8)--was selected, ready, willing, and waiting. It only remained, that it should be actually offered up as 'the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the whole world' (1 John 2:2).
And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come. 1 Corinthians 11:34
Because "singing" in our sense of the Word had no place in the synagogue or church, there was no problem except among the charismatics who sang out of their own "spirit" or mind. Therefore, if the people were not tarrying with one another the "speaking into the air" songs might have been taking place during the supper.
Therefore, as Jesus compared this singing to speaking in tongues and said that speaking in tongues (minor dialects were tongues) should not be "in church," perhaps he would include among the REST needing set in order:
If any man wants to sing out of their own spirit, let him sing at home; that ye not come together unto condemnation.
Because "tongues" were the minor dialects too minor to be called "languages," Paul said exactly what we have put into his mouths. It was ok to speak a minor dialect outside of the assembly to those who knew the dialect. However, "singing" self-composed poems in the "tongue" of a tune was condemned but allowable when others could listen and say "Amen." That does not happen when peole are trying to TARRY WITH JESUS and the song leader won't permit it for even ten minutes.
Therefore, if you cannot ENDURE the children "piping trying to make Jesus dance" you may have to find another group with whom you can TARRY WITH THE LORD FOR AT LEAST TEN MINUTES.
