The Word or
Logos is not and cannot be a God: God's Word has the same
meaning as HIS light or life. LOGOS is god's
regulative principle which heaps BURNING on all who are

- The Instruments commanded by David were under the King

no inheritance in Israel" and God had dedicated

skill in a holy place is said to be Anathema: they cannot

writings into songs and sermons to be performed with
instruments. They would have terminally insulted Plato.
Because they see "godliness as a means of financial gain" or
occupation they do not need the Biblical Text and imagine that
their imagination is authority enough.
The fact then is that Rick and his "progressives" are NOT
remotely related to the ekklesia or synagogue of Christ: their
songs and sermons are superior to God's songs and
sermons. That is how Jesus defined the Scribes and
Pharisees as hypocrites: He quotes Isaiah and Ezekiel who
identified preachers, singers and instrument players: they
simply could not sell the FREE water of the Word and get rich

In Ezekiel 33 the people would treat God and Ezekiel as if they were musical entertainers like the male prostitutes.
The MARK was almost universally understood to be sexual perversion since Lucifer was bisexual:

You remember that Paul said that Eve was WHOLLY SEDUCED and in the context that the church might not be a faithful bride.
The same writers define the PIPING trying to get Jesus into the Dionysus SINGING and DANCING was the same sexual perversion which MARKED all priesthoods and still mark them.
A fair reading of the Bible will show that Satan always tried to SEDUCE God's people away from Him to BLEED OFF worship for himself. This is the LUCIFER PRINCIPLE and Lucifer is Zoe. Zoe is identified as the BEAST and the FEMALE INSTRUCTING PRINCIPLE. She is doing her best work creating division between brothers when she is forcing the "minor jehovahs and logos" into forming MUSICAL WORSHIP TEAMS.
The "Abomination of Desolation" in Jerusalem had included the musical and sexual worship of Zeus and son Dionysus (Bacchus) and this is what the Jews LUSTED FOR when Messiah came. When He refused to BOW to their piping they murdered Him. Lucifer or Zoe is still among us.
Therefore, one simply CANNOT be a student of the Bible and believe that music as worship is anything other than Lucifer using the TEAM as he used the king of Tyre, the king of Babylon and the end-time Babylon whore.

The Christian church had a large part to do with CONVERTING Rubel Shelly and Rick is one of Shelly's FELLOW RUNNERS. In a report on the speech of Rick Atchley:
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: On October 20-22, 2002 self-appointed representatives of Churches of Christ and Independent Christian Churches met in Lubbock, Texas for their 20th annual assembly to promote unity among the two bodies. Among the many speeches presented was one by Rick Atchley, minister of the Richland Hills Church of Christ in Ft. Worth. I listened to the tape of his presentation and have before me a transcript of his speech.
I say this lest anyone assume that I might have misheard or misrepresented him. Of the several prominent ministers of the church who have embraced the change movement, Bro. Atchley stands at the head of the list, along with Max Lucado and Rubel Shelly.
John Mark Hicks identifies Max Lucado and Rubel Shelly as the promoters of the INCARNATIONAL VIEW that God is really three separated beings and that Christ did not come fully in the flesh. That, if true, would identify the ANTI-CHRIST. This article will connect you to the Lucado- Shelly repudiation of the church of Christ view of Baptism.
It is a fact that Rubel Shelly has been the leader but has not been able to take his group as far as has Rick Atchley as a change agent.
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: The Richland Hills church is the largest congregation among us and no other is more fully committed to the change movement than is it. From his delivery at the Forum, it is evident that Bro. Atchley has the highest respect and regard for his peers in the Christian Churches. Not one word of criticism does he offer, not a single exhortation to make any adjustments or changes in their beliefs, worship or practice.
On the other hand it is equally evident that he holds members of Churches of Christ who do not share his unity quest in utter contempt. Describing them, he says, "they've been mean, they are mean, and going to stay mean! And I think those people (meaning us)....you're going to deal with some ugliness" (p.4 Question and Answer Session).
His description of us was greeted with a roar of laughter by the Christian Church delegates.
What most do not know is that when the Israelites rose up to PLAY their musical idolatry, they thought that the foreigners were laughing WITH them. However, God said that they were MAKING THEMSELVES INTO A LAUGHING STOCK.

Amazingly, most pagans believed that the demons or "gods" dwelled in their idols and especially musical instruments. The still do and isn't that laughable?
Knowing something of the Christian Church I would never expect them to invite Rick to be their PASTOR. You simply do not expect your hired hand to be disloyal to those who pay him while he makes fun of them.
The GUILT CLAUSE was invented for Rick.
The condemnation of the serpent or NACHASH as a musical enchanter begins in the book of Genesis. It ends with the Babylon Harlot Worship in Revelation 18.
All of the musical passages in the Bible tell God: "We will not listen to your word."
All of the ANE documents from Babylon, the history of religions competing with God, the Classics, the Old and New Testaments, the church fathers and the PERSONA of musical and theatrical performers prove that the MUSICAL IMPULSE is associated with all pagan "gods" as being homosexual and their PRIESTS and worshipers initiated into sodomy.

Jesus repudiates all of the MUSICAL practices in parable-like statements and actions to HIDE the truth from the SEED OF THE DEVIL.
The CHURCH OF CHRIST has existed for 2000 years under that name. And it universally repudiated MUSIC as Satanic and perfectly obviously telling God: "We will not listen to your words."
The RM was founded by churches none of whom used INSTRUMENTS and all repudiated them.
Not until about 1878 did anyone try to prove the unprovable by claiming that the Bible AUTHORIZED instruments.
The Christian churches IMPOSED instruments into peaceable churches and continue to STEAL CHURCH HOUSES OF WIDOWS. Their effort failed to make southern churches members of the society which was to include ALL OF CHRISTENDOM and making even children LIFE MEMBERS.
Therefore, it is a provable LIE to blame those who have NEVER CHANGED their faith or practices for sowing discord and becoming SECTARIAN anti-instrumentalists.
Rick's view is that if I decide to add instruments into YOUR church which YOU paid for and you object then YOU are sowing discord. Isn't this like our childrn? That is what they did to J. W. McGarvey and even insulted him at his funeral.
Speaking Of Bro. Atchley's theme was, "The Unity Imperative," and he opened with the declaration,
"I want to see in my lifetime, our fellowship reunited,
and I intend to do all that I can to see that that happens" (p. 1).To say united fellowship was the call of the Pope which was to suck churches of Christ back under her skirts in Y2K. The Jubilee was a response to the Pope's call and it is clear that their UNITY based on the false grounds of music is important because MUSIC of any form silences the human spirit so that groups like Richland Hills can applaud their own execution.
Unity as "speaking the same things" meant to speak that which is written: it did not include private interpretation which means FURTHER EXPOUNDING.
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He and the Richland Hills church already are in full-fellowship with the Christian Churches, but his goal is to move all of our preachers and churches to that same position.
Bro. Atchley tells of his grandmother who in her family was the only member of the Church of Christ. She helped lead him to Christ. On her deathbed he discovered that she was baptized in the early 1900s in a Christian Church.
He asked how she ended up in an "a cappella Church of Christ?" He was shocked when she replied, "the preacher moved."
From this he concluded that in the past such questions as instrumental music were no "big deal;" hence, neither should it be today.
One of the big lies of the "unity forums" is for those who are members of the Christian church by heritage to PRETEND to represent churches of Christ. Of course, this and all efforts to DECEIVE by cunning speech is the CHRISTIAN CHURCH and the CHRISTIAN CHURCH playing children's games that they are going to bring UNITY. Unity is always on THEIR TERMS. And we still have never heard of a non-instrumental group infiltrating an instrumental group and stealing their property.
The church of Christ (under that name) existed prior to the Christian church was totally convinced that MUSIC was Satanic because "the Bible tells me so" and because THERE IS NO OTHER TRADITION.
Music, sexuality and perverted sexuality were VITAL to the pagan religions. Music in fact creates the impulses of FIGHT, FLIGHT or SEXUALITY. This is because the "spirit" Rick preaches about is the MUSICAL INJECTION of endorphins or natural MORPHINE to silence the rational or spiritual nature.
Music is highly addictive and AFTER HOURS Rock and Roll for children already super saturated by it is like BURNING children in the red hot arms of Molech which was the "worship" God turned Israel over to and condemned by Amos and Isaiah.
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: By this story he unwittingly reveals his lack of understanding of our past history. The division we experienced was not a finished reality in some places until the decade of the 1920s.
The names Christian Church, Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ were all used indiscriminately prior to that final dissolution of fellowship. A congregation could be known as a Christian Church and yet be a cappella. If a previous preacher had tolerated or advocated use of an instrument, or if had he tried to straddle the fence, his successor could come along and teach the church God's will for worship, urging the brethren to sing and make melody in their hearts" (Eph. 5:19).
That is one of the BIG LIES. If you believe that you have never read that one of the first divisions included both instruments and the NAME of the Church. Moses Lard noted that you can have Christian meetings and Christian pamplets and you can BE a Christian but the NAME of the church is the church of Christ or the church of God which is IN CHRIST. Words like CATHOLIC did not intend to change the name of the church from the church of Christ.
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He then refers to "all those lousy sermons" he had listened to "all these years."
Those of course, were sermons relating to instrumental music, stressing respect for God's Word, the authority of the New Testament of Christ, the sin of adding to or taking from God's revealed will, etc.
Perhaps we can identify with the GOPHER WOOD and LAW OF SINGING sermons but sermons which did not grasp the total Biblical statement about "music" as worship is no excuse for concluding that poor sermons MAKE MUSIC RIGHT. Neither Rick nor his RUNNING MATES can find any association between MUSIC and spiritual worship.
The present Rick preaches out of the same lack of concern for the Old Testament. The Law and its Temple were ADDED because of transgression. This transgression was rising up to Play at Mount Sinai.
"The triumphal hymn of Moses had unquestionably a religious character about it; but the employment of music in religious services, though idolatrous, is more distinctly marked in the festivities which attended the erection of the golden calf." (Smith's Bible Dictionary, Music, p. 589). Click for the Sinai Musical Idolatry.
This was the common Egyptian worship of their trinity of Osiris, Isis and Horus. Osiris was idolized as the REAL Apis the bull calf worshiped with music which brought on prophecy which was charismatic singing. Musical Idolatry was the sin which lost Israel THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT and had God impose the BOOK OF THE LAW. Stephen in Acts 7 agrees with the universal Old Testament view that God TURNED THEM OVER to worship the starry host. In the Book of Amos this is Remphan and Chiun which is SATURN whose Chaldee number is 666.
When they demanded a KING to replace God He gave them kings in His anger and took them away in His anger (especially in Israel). This was not to APPROVE of musical worship but to carry out the death and captivity sentence imposed conditionally at Mount Sinai.
Rick and his crew ARE the GOLDEN CALVES bleeding off worship from God while being blinded and made deaf by a holy God. Being blind and then led by the blind does not excuse the blind.

Speaking Of Rick Atchley: Bro. Atchley cites Alexander Campbell, who wrote in his Millennial Harbinger, "We're not going to publish, in this journal a lot of issue-oriented articles."
I have found that most "scholarly" quotations are not true or out of context. Alexander DID write about ISSUES because that was about all you can write about.
"Printing opposing and dissenting views would help prevent the papers and the men from becoming sectarian, single-issue oriented, or one-sided and hegemonic. Campbell formally canonized this part of his editorial philosophy by publishing it in the first edition of the Christian Baptist.
See the difference? Huh? Huh? A half truth is a whole lie.
"When Tolbert Fanning and William Lipscomb established the Gospel Advocate in 1855, Fanning viewed the Advocate as a forum for the free discussion of issues, pro and con.
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He proceeds to fault us for preaching and teaching on issues such as instrumental music.
It is noteworthy that he feels free to address the issue from his point of view (that instrumental music is not an issue worthy of discussion).
But we should not address it from our point of view!
Misquoting the "fathers" is very common. Campbell certainly did not associate the cursed "issue-oriented" with instrumental music as Rick attempts to do.
Isn't forcing INSTRUMENTS into a peacable non-instrumental group ORIENTED toward an ISSUE?
We have collected major repudiations of instrumental music just at the time Rick Atchley claims that he and others would not address the issue. This includes Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians and dozens of other groups.
Campbell DID address the issue so Rick is wrong:
"The argument drawn from the Psalms in favor of instrumental music,
is exceedingly apposite to the Roman Catholic, English Protestant, and Scotch Presbyterian churches, and even to the Methodist communities.
Their churches having all the world in them--that is, all the fleshly progeny of all the communicants, and
being founded on the Jewish pattern of things--baptism being given to all born into the world of these politico-ecclesiastic communities--
I wonder not, then, that an organ, a fiddle, or a Jews-harp, should be requisite to stir up their carnal hearts, and work into ecstasy their animal souls, else "hosannahs languish on their tongues, and their devotions die." ...
But I presume, to all spiritually-minded Christians, such aids would be as a cow bell in a concert.
Pay attention to Breckinridge and Hislop who prove that the Anglican or Church of England OUTLAWED instruments. However, Queen Elizabeth vetoed it.
Bro. A. attributes our refusal to yield on instrumental music to
"our pride and our refusal to admit that cultural baggage has influenced a lot of who we are."
Someone measuring his nose? If he is correct then 100% of church history is wrong and the Holy Spirit was caught up by CULTURAL BAGGAGE. And that is exactly what his friend Rubel Shelly preaches: OUR culture has changed (Wow!!) and WE gotto partner with God to get a NEW SET of truth.
He says, "We all have cultures that taught us what we believe about what is right and wrong and what the Bible says..." (p. 2).
It is true that we all have to distinguish between our culture and God's expressed will. But is he saying that it is impossible for us commoners to read and make that distinction?
Or is it only intellectuals of the change movement who have attained to that higher level of knowledge?
One simply cannot have enough knowledge to eat and defecate and claim that the instrumental music issue is part of the cultural baggage. To say this accuse Moses in Genesis with preaching CULTURAL BAGGAGE. Not far fetched. The Shellyite dogma of the CORE GOSPEL is that nothing in the Bible can be used for doctrine except the SEVEN FACTS ABOUT JESUS CHRIST. You have to remember that Jesus said that He spoke in parables to HIDE the truth from those who hate truth FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD (Matt 13). The more they reject the word and lie about Bible believers the more God SENDS STRONG DELUSIONS to force them to believe a lie and be damned.

Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He insists that "we've (Churches of Christ) got to recover a passion for the doctrine of the unity of all believers" (p. 2).
This is the Infiltrate and Divert. What has UNITY to do with the use of Instrumental Music at this very late date. However, unity or saving souls or evangelism has always been the BAIT used to catch the suckers.
Paul said that the church is to GIVE HEED to the word: to preach the wisdom of God to the World. Rick is speaking of a RELIGION but Jesus established a DISCIPLINE. The passion of the bonded runners SHOULD be to go preach to the lost.
Jesus made UNITY rest totally upon HIS WORD. As "son" Jesus spoke only what He heard from the "father." That is the meaning of SPIRIT WITHOUT MEASURE. The apostles and believers were NEVER advised to be UNITED by massed groups but be UNITED by SPEAKING THE SAME THINGS which can happen only if our SINGING practices rest on Romans 15 which is "THAT WHICH IS WRITTEN." In Ephesians it is the SPIRIT which Jesus said was HIS words (John 6:63) and the WORD OF CHRIST (Col. 3).
UNITY was based on rejecting human creeds and even songs so that no one could doubt the SOURCE of what they were united on.
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He seems to think that only he and his comrades for change care for or preach on the importance of Christian Unity. From the beginning of our movement 200 years ago, our brethren have preached on unity. Sadly we have learned that not everyone wants unity. Some want a unity to believe and do as they will, regardless of Scripture's teaching. Others want unity, with everyone yielding to their opinions.
Even the apostles encountered factious men (Tit. 3:10) and those who caused divisions (Rom. 16: 17). Just as Paul was not responsible for the defection of Phygelus and Hermogenese (II Tim. 1:15), we are not responsible for those who break fellowship with us.
If you worship what you seen in the mirror it is virtually impossible to associate with divisive companions without being corrupted. The God- Imposed making them into BUFFOONS demands that they have to tell jokes at the expense of others.
However, Paul insisted that only elders who "taught that which has been taught" and could "refute those who oppose it" be recognized as worthy of being followed. One suspects that Rick's church has been INFILTRATED by pseudo-scholars from a "christian" college.
Paul identifies the MANY out there as false teachers and the end- time will see a tiny remnant of those SCARCELY SAVED while the masses will be lost.
The URGE to be BIG TIME is positive proof that Satan is the spirit indwelling the new breed.
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He labors to convince his Christian Church auditors that
our objection to instrumental music is simply a matter of "personal faith" or opinion,
rather than a matter of Scriptural teaching.
He confuses the eating or not eating of meat, (something God declares unimportant), with the worship of God, of which nothing is more important.
There is no reason to expect that Rick would be a big gun and know anything about the Bible at the same time: they are just incompatible.
Those with a meat eating and wine drinking heritage in Rome were the Dionysus worshipers: the same ones who tried to PERVERT JESUS into singing and dancing. The Orphic group were the ONLY VEGETARIAN group in Rome. Both of these groups saw "church" as a musical celebration where the Rock and Roll produced the literal "F" act of worship.

Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He says that early Christians, being led away to death would not have "fussed about a piano." (The Christian Church folks enjoyed his point and laughed.)
It was prophesied that the JUDAS band would lead Jesus away to death with mocking which was with musical instruments. The PICTURE was of Satan trying to defeat the WORD with music.Jesus had deconstructed all of the musical events added such as the Musical Team trying to appease the dead Girl. This in part got Him killed: He would not sing and dance while the Jewish Clergy piped.
Stephen got himself killed in part for repudiating the TEMPLE and with it necessarily the TEMPLE SACRIFICIAL MUSIC.
The early Christians understood two very important things. First, the understood that the Jewish people's congregation NEVER worshiped God with instruments. Instruments were to make one huge, horrible noise during the slaughtering of thousands of animals. To KNOW CHRIST AND PAUL Rick Atchley would have to GO INTO THE WORLD and preach. He would be prepared to be abused, condemned and murdered. One CANNOT KNOW Jesus as God who abandoned all Majesty to become a common criminal and be a BUFFOON seeking self affirmation.

Because Christ was crucified the Corinthians should not honor the self-exhalted but look to the suffering servants for their example. Paul is maligned by the "trained speakers" in Corinth whom he calls huper or super-apostles who used their exalted skills to demand a salary. However, as an apostle of a vile, crucified malefactor Paul was uniquely qualified to be their teacher. Nothing in his person, his manners, secular knowledge or speaking skills could stand between Christ and the student.
Paul clearly could not RUN with Rick's RUNNING MATES:

Speaking Of Rick Atchley: Of course he has in mind all of his brethren, save the change agents. It strikes me as a bit arrogant and judgmental to assert that the thousands of men who have preached among our churches have failed to preach Christ and him crucified. In fact I think it is more likely that every last one of them did; some more, some less, but all of them proclaimed the crucified Christ.

Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He affirms his belief in "salvation by grace through faith" (p. 5) and implies that other brethren (i.e. traditionalists) don't believe it.
Again I suggest that every man that ever spoke from a pulpit in a Church of Christ believed in salvation by grace through faith because it is plainly taught in Scripture (Eph. 2:8-9).
They did not however preach salvation by grace alone.
That was the theme of their Presbyterian neighbors. They did not teach salvation by faith alone.
That was the message of their Methodist, Baptist and Lutheran friends. In recent years, change agents such as Bro. Atchley have discovered this foundation pillar of Protestantism and have begun to proclaim it among our people. They neglect to emphasize that those who truly love Christ will keep his commandments (John 14:15) and that Christ saves those who obey him (Heb. 5:8-9).
Martin Luther defined FAITH identically to Thomas Campbell: Faith must have some object to obey.
But as our would-be wise, new spirits assert that faith alone saves, and that works and external things avail nothing, we answer:
It is true, indeed, that nothing in us is of any avail but faith, as we shall hear still further. But these blind guides are unwilling to see this, namely,
that faith must have something which it believes, that is, of which it takes hold, and upon which it stands and rests.

Bro. Atchley is proud that his congregation participated as counselors in the recent Billy Graham mission. He calls it "a tremendous event." Over 100 members of his congregation participated in the mission (p. 6). Did they help those seeking salvation to pray "the sinner's prayer" that was advocated in the crusade? We would ask Bro. A. what would be the spiritual status of those who prayed that prayer but chose not to be baptized for remission of their sins (Acts 2:38)?
Of course, like the MUSIC thing, this is just to SOW DISCORD and try the Hegelian Dialectic (Communist) to try to upset Bible Believing churches of Christs.
Speaking Of Rick Atchley: He protests that some call him a liberal. He says he believes in the absolute authority of Scripture, the miracles and male leadership for the church.
Of course he uses a twofold definition for "liberal." Since he is not as extreme a liberal as a Unitarian preacher or professor, he insists that he does not qualify for the designation.
But "liberal" is a relative term. Webster defines it, "Broad-minded, tolerant; esp: not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or traditional forms."
It is "insistence that the churches should be undogmatic in temper, tolerating a plurality of theologies, and seeing personal social ethics as their main concern...." (New Dictionary of Theology (IVP).
It is being ideologically left of center of the group one is associated with and its standard which they honor as the declaration of their faith. There are liberal and conservatives among Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists and Churches of Christ. Bro. A. and others of the change movement, without dispute are left of center among the brotherhood of our people.
I don't blame Rick. To this writer a LIBERAL is one who is a scholar, has examined all of the facts and just does not believe that the Bible is anything other than the CORE GOSPEL.
A TRUE LIBERAL is to be respected as having made a conscious decision based on his ethical base.

Speaking Of Rick Atchley: Until 25 years ago 99 percent of our preachers believed it was wrong. He assures us that he is not trying to make (us) worship "and violate (our) conscience" (p. 7).
He just wants us to admit and accept that "it ain't wrong." Then he and his change agents can use instruments if they wish and enjoy full fellowship with those who do. We could argue the same way for the use of beads, incense and candles in worship.
Someone claims that the Stone Campbell Movement has existed for about a quarter of a century. That's about right! The catholics confess that they got candles and music from the PAGANS because it was common to ALL PAGAN CULTS.
But it is wrong: there IS NO OTHER TRADITION but that Satan or Demons taught the young and restless and mindless how to SEDUCE holy people into a sexually perverted atmosphere of the Cainite.
