Malachi 2:12KJV The Lord will cut off the man that doeth this,
............ the master and the scholar,
............ out of the tabernacles of Jacob,
............ and him that offereth an offering unto the Lord of hosts.

The NIV especially breaks the force of this warning by removing the basic words which point to the leadership which POLLUTED the tabernacle by introducing music as part of pagan idolatry. Music is always a mark of those who repudiate the Word of God and also the mark of a sexual and homosexual form of "binding flesh and spirit together."

Malachi 2:12 in other versions

As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the LORD cut him off from the tents of Jacob [d][e]--even though he brings offerings to the LORD Almighty. Mal 2:12NIV

Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the Lord which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god. Malachi 2:11

Don't loose the force of the words which define a POLLUTED form of ritual which was a REFUSAL to give glory to God. This was the "Lucifer principle" of using music and other pollutions to bleed off worship due only to a Holy God:

AND now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. Malachi 2:1

If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. Malachi 2:2

I think the following verses should be seen in the light of the sexuality involved in the pagan religious rituals:

Malachi 2:14 Yet ye say, Wherefore?
............ Because the Lord hath been witness between
............ thee and the wife of thy youth,
............ against whom thou hast dealt treacherously:
............ yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

Malachi 2:15 And did not he make one?
............ Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one?
............ That he might seek a godly seed.
............ Therefore take heed to your spirit,
............ and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

Lysias, Speeches 1:[36] I call upon you to support their opinion: otherwise, you will be giving adulterers such licence that you will encourage thieves as well to call themselves adulterers; since they will feel assured that, if they plead this reason in their defence, and allege that they enter other men's houses for this purpose, nobody will touch them. For everyone will know that the laws on adultery are to be given the go-by, and that it is your vote that one has to fear, because this has supreme authority over all the city's affairs.

[37] Do but consider, sirs, what they say: they accuse me of ordering the maid-servant on that day to go and fetch the young man. Now I, sirs, could have held myself justified in using any possible means to catch the corrupter of my wife.

[38] For if I had bidden the girl fetch him, when words alone had been spoken and no act had been committed, I should have been in the wrong: but if, when once he had compassed all his ends, and had frequently entered my house, I had then used any possible means to catch him, I should have considered myself quite in order.

Xenophon, Memorabilia

2.1.[5] He agreed again.

“Now, don't you think it disgraceful that a man should be in the same plight as the silliest of wild creatures? Thus an adulterer enters the women's quarters, knowing that by committing adultery he is in danger of incurring the penalties threatened by the law, and that he may be trapped, caught and ill-treated. When such misery and disgrace hang over the adulterer's head, and there are many remedies to relieve him of his carnal desire without risk, is it not sheer lunacy to plunge headlong into danger?”

“Yes, I think it is.”

Aristophanes, Peace 974

Trygaeus

Oh! Peace, mighty queen, venerated goddess, [975] thou, who presidest over choruses and at nuptials, deign to accept the sacrifices we offer thee.

Servant

Receive it, greatly honored mistress, and behave not like the [980] courtesans, who half open the door to entice the gallants, draw back when they are stared at, [985] to return once more if a man passes on. But do not thou act like this to us.

Trygaeus

No, but like an honest woman, show thyself to thy worshippers, who are worn with regretting thee all these [990] thirteen years. Hush the noise of battle, be a true Lysimacha to us. Put an end to this tittle-tattle, to this idle babble,
